Beijing is set to increase its influence in the Pacific region, as East Timor has approached Chinese firms to develop a $65 billion gas project. This move has raised concerns in Australia, the project is related to East Timor's greater Sunrise gas field which has been stalled for decades due to disagreements with Australia.
