Brown vine snake, endemic to Americas, rescued by forest officials in India

Forest officials in eastern India rescued a brown vine snake, a rarity in India, from a residential area in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha state on Monday. The snake species is endemic to the American continents and is a rare species in the region. It was found to be around 4.5 feet long was rescued and released safely to the forest, before being killed by panicked villagers.
