Social media in Russia is buzzing after a pack of stray dogs with bright-blue fur was spotted roaming the snowy streets near Dzerzhinsk, about 370 kilometers east of Moscow.
Photos of the “blue dogs” went viral, sparking a mix of amusement and concern among internet users. While some compared them to cartoon characters, others raised serious animal safety and environmental concerns.
Experts believe the dogs may have been exposed to industrial chemicals — possibly copper sulfate or residues from a long-abandoned chemical factory that once produced plexiglass and hydrocyanic acid.
