<p>“While it was considered acceptable in literature to introduce the idea of a demon as something in the mind of a person, to include it visually in a painting gave it too physical a form,” he said.</p>

<p>"This is a large painting, and we wanted to ensure that it still represented what Reynolds originally painted, which included allowing the fiend to be uncovered through removing all the non-original darkened varnishes and ensuring it still correctly showed its form and perspective with the work we did," said John Chu.</p>

<p>Chu also said that due to several layers of paint on that area which covered the devil, it deteriorated into a small island of paint and became less clear due to the degradation of successive varnish layers.</p>

<p>In a flabbergasting turn of events, a Scottish man from Glasgow found himself ‘kidnapped’ by his own Electronic Vehicle (EV), as he couldn’t get his car to brake.</p>

<p>The man, identified as 53-year-old Brian Morrison, was trapped inside his runaway car as he navigated red lights and roundabouts. The brand new car apparently stuck at 48 km/h after suffering a “catastrophic malfunction,” Morrison said.</p>

<p>The incident took place on Sunday (Oct 1) at 10pm BST when Morrison was heading home from work. "I realised something was wrong when I was coming up to a roundabout, and went to slow down - but it didn't do it," he said.</p>

<h2><strong>Morrison calls emergency services</strong></h2>

<p>After realising that his runaway car could hit other vehicles and pedestrians on the road, he promptly called emergency services.</p>

<p>"When I dialed 999 [UK emergency services], they sent police to help and put some engineers on the line to try and solve the problem, and they were asking if it was a self-driving car,” Morrison said.</p>

<p>Eventually, three police cars approached his EV and were driving in front and behind.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>How was Morrison rescued?</strong></h2>

<p>Police initially asked Morrison to throw away the electronic key through the window, but this failed to disengage the engine. Then, the cops asked him to press the power button thrice, which also failed to stop the car.</p>

<p>Then, police officers did something really drastic.</p>

<p>Police got the trapped man to crash into the back of one of their own vehicles. "Eventually I came up to a roundabout, which slowed the car down to about 15 mph [24 km/h], and the Police van was waiting for me on the other side,” the man said.</p>

<p>The news of Fox’s sacking came hours after he was arrested by the Met Police for calling on the public to damage ULEZ cameras, used by the city’s transport authorities to monitor vehicles entering and exiting London.</p>

<p>“On Wednesday 4, October officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to ULEZ cameras and encouraging or assisting offences to be committed. He was arrested in Stockwell and has been taken to a South London police station where he remains in custody,” a statement released by police read.</p>

<h2><strong>GB News condemned Fox</strong></h2>

<p>Earlier, chief executive of GB News Angelos Frangopoulos condemned Laurence Fox for his remarks against Evans, calling them ‘appaling.’</p>

<p>“They never should have gone to air,” he said on a BBC Radio programme.</p>

<p>The protest come days after the Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, was stopped from entering a Gurudwara in Scotland.</p>

<p>On Sep 29, “three persons- all from areas outside Scotland-deliberately disrupted a planned interaction organised by the Gurudwara Committee for the community,” the Indian High Commission in London said in a statement.</p>

<p>"The organisers included senior community leaders, ladies and Committee members, and a member of the Scottish Parliament.</p>

<p>They were threatened and abused by these elements. In an effort to prevent any potential altercation, the HC and CG decided to leave the premises shortly upon their arrival," the statement added.</p>

<h2><strong>UK’s reaction</strong></h2>

<p>UK Minister for the Indo-Pacific, Anne-Marie Trevelyan, responded to the incident by saying that the safety and security of foreign diplomats is of "utmost importance and our places of worship in the UK must be open to all".</p>

<p>Several people were reported injured after two trains collided in the Highlands of Scotland on Friday (Sep 29). The accident involved the famous Flying Scotsman and the Royal Scotsman. It happened at 6:15 pm local time at the Aviemore Station.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The collision happened at “slow speed,” police said. Two people were rushed to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness&nbsp;for sustaining&nbsp;minor injuries. Others were being treated at the station itself.</p>

<h2><strong>‘Shunting incident’</strong></h2>

<p>Hospitality company&nbsp;<em>Belmond</em>&nbsp;in a statement described the collision as a “shunting incident”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We can confirm that on Friday September 29 … a shunting incident occurred when the Flying Scotsman locomotive was being coupled with Belmond’s Royal Scotsman train carriages, which were stationary on heritage railway line, Strathspey Railway,” the statement said.</p>

<p>“Flying Scotsman was visiting the railway as part of a planned excursion,” it added.</p>

<h2><strong>Rescue services at the scene</strong></h2>

<p>Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) rushed eight appliances to the accident site to help rescue and treat the injured.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Officials were yet to identify the cause of the accident.</p>

<p>The Scottish Greens transport spokesperson, Mark Ruskell, said: “It is too early to know what has caused this incident, but clearly a full investigation will have to take place.”</p>

<p>The Guardian reported that one prisoner interviewed an inmate named Ryan McPhee, who was jailed for 16 years in 2019 for chopping off a stranger’s hand using a machete in an unprovoked attack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Thomas Frazer was another interviewee, who had been imprisoned for 21 years for blinding a man by stabbing him in the eye with a bottle.</p>

<p>A TikTok account with the username hmp5starchef often posts food vlogs, where an anonymous prisoner showcases his cooking skills using the prison kettle.</p>

I had watched enough prison documentaries to know that before the cameras arrive they have the cleaners doing a crazy clean, and they only let ‘enhanced’ prisoners out of their cell. They want to make it look cushy,” he was quoted as saying by the Guardian.</p>

UK: Prison inmates turn into star YouTubers using illegally-possessed phones

<p>Will a country allow drug addicts to 'officially' consume heroin and cocaine in&nbsp; rooms created by the government? Britain just did that, in a move to address drug-related deaths. UK authorities&nbsp;have cleared the way for erecting official consumption rooms for illegal drugs in a move aimed at "tackling the drug crisis."&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is a pilot scheme backed by the Scottish government. The first such room has appeared in the east end of Glasgow, where users can take drugs under the supervision of medical experts.</p>

<p>The plan was given an official nod on Wednesday (Sep 27) by&nbsp;Glasgow's Integration Joint Board.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Users won't be prosecuted</strong></h2>

<p>The project was in the pipeline for years but greenlit now after special law arrangements were made to exempt users from legal action for consuming illegal drugs in these rooms.</p>

<p>According to a report by BBC, users will be able to inject drugs at the Glasgow facility, but a different proposal which would have allowed users to smoke illegal substances was struck down.</p>

<p>"No individuals on board have presented with symptoms of legionnaires' (disease), and asylum seekers are being provided with appropriate advice and support," added the spokesperson.</p>
