Some of the most pointed criticisms have come from those questioning the ethics of such extravagant displays of wealth, particularly when juxtaposed with the widespread poverty that exists in various parts of the African continent. "While this king parades around in luxury, his people suffer from hunger and lack of basic amenities," one social media user posted, adding to the growing sense of moral outrage. Additionally, many have expressed concern over the environmental and social impact of such displays of wealth. The private jet, the entourage of vehicles, and the overall sense of luxury have been criticised for being symbolic of excessive consumerism at a time when global issues like climate change and inequality are at the forefront of public discourse.

However, others have defended the king’s right to live in luxury, pointing out that he is a monarch who holds significant power in his country and should be entitled to enjoy the fruits of his leadership. “He may be living large, but he has the prerogative to do so,” a supporter wrote.

Earlier, Trump hinted that he could meet Russian President Putin as soon as next week to discuss the war in Ukraine. The White House also said that Trump is “open” to the idea of a meeting with Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As Russia confirmed the Putin-Trump summit, it also dismissed Trump's proposal for a three-way summit involving Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Trump. UAE-based Al Futtaim Retail has agreed to buy nearly half of Saudi Arabia’s Cenomi Retail for 2.5 billion riyals ($666 million), in a strategic move to tap into the kingdom’s consumer market and support the struggling retailer’s revival plan. As reported by Bloomberg, Al Futtaim will purchase 49.95 per cent of Cenomi Retail’s share capital from existing shareholders including Saudi FAS Holding Company and FAS Real Estate Company. The deal also includes a shareholder loan agreement worth at least 1.3 billion riyals, further underlining Al Futtaim’s commitment to Cenomi’s financial stability. Cenomi’s turnaround plan gets lifeline Cenomi Retail had earlier disclosed it was in advanced talks with a strategic investor to help it “overcome existing challenges” and “maintain business continuity.” The firm has been working on a turnaround strategy that involves offloading non-core brands and reducing debt burdens. The capital injection by Al Futtaim is expected to stabilise operations and provide the liquidity required to implement the restructuring plan. Strategic push into Saudi market Al Futtaim’s investment marks a significant regional play, especially as Saudi Arabia ramps up consumer spending and modernises its retail sector under Vision 2030. The Dubai-based conglomerate is betting on Cenomi’s restructured portfolio and long-term growth prospects in the Kingdom. As of now, neither Al Futtaim nor Cenomi has disclosed further details regarding the operational integration or board-level representation following the deal. According to Bloomberg, this latest stake sale and loan arrangement are expected to offer much-needed breathing room as the company charts a more focused and sustainable path forward.

More and more people around the world are getting access to the internet and mobile internet plays a very big role in this digital growth. However internet speeds are still not the same everywhere. Countries in Asia and the Middle East usually have much faster mobile internet than other countries. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar are leading with some of the highest internet speeds in the world.

Whereas countries like the United States and India still face challenges in offering fast mobile internet. These problems often come from uneven development and a lack of strong tech infrastructure in certain areas.

According to the Speedtest Global Index - nations in the Middle East and Asia often top the charts for mobile internet speed.

For example, the UAE is ranked number one with internet speeds in Dubai growing almost 100 times in recent years.
