<p>According to the ABC/Ipsos poll, around 48 per cent of Americans think Trump deserved to be charged in the classified documents case, while 35 per cent think the former president should not have been indicted.<br />

The survey, which was conducted from June 9-10, in both English and Spanish, also sheds light on the contrasting views held by Democrats and Republicans.</p>

<p>Among the respondents, a significant majority of Democrats, accounting for 86 per cent, expressed their support for the indictment, while 45 per cent of independents also indicated their agreement with the charges against Trump. Conversely, a majority of Republicans, approximately 67 per cent, disagreed with the allegations, signalling a strong partisan divide on the matter.</p>

<p>The indictment says that the files kept by Trump at his residence included records from the Pentagon, CIA and National Security Agency. The sensitive documents lay unsecured at the property which often hosted large social events.</p>

<p>Moreover, the indictment says that Trump showed sensitive documents on the US military and its plans to people who were not authorised to see them. This happened on at least two occasions at his golf club in New Jersey.</p>

<p>It says that Trump possessed the classified documents intentionally and showed them off to visitors boastfully. The indictment is built on Trump's own words and actions as recounted to prosecutors by lawyers, close aides and other witnesses.</p>

<p>The indictment alleges that during a meeting held in July 2021, Trump presented a document that he referred to as a "war plan" to a writer and a publisher. This document is believed to be connected to a specific country, which the indictment refers to as "Country A," — as per Business Insider, this is believed to pertain to Iran.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the indictment, during the aforementioned July 2021 meeting, the former president emphasised the confidential nature of the information contained in the document. He drew the attention of the group present by stating, "Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this."</p>

<h2><strong>Ex-prez faces 37 separate counts</strong></h2>

<p>Trump faces 37 separate counts in the indictment. These include 31 counts of "willful retention of national defence information". A conviction on each count has a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.</p>

<p>"We have one set of laws in this country, and they apply to everyone," said Special Counsel Jack Smith, who brought the historic indictment against Trump, the first former US president ever to face federal criminal charges.</p>

<p>"Laws that protect national defense information are critical to the safety and security of the United States, and they must be enforced," Smith said, adding that he would seek to ensure that Trump receives a "speedy trial."</p>

<h2><strong>Other charges against Trump</strong></h2>

<p>Trump, who has the tag of the only US president to be impeached twice, also faces charges that include conspiracy to obstruct justice. It is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. Trump also faces charges of withholding a document or record and making false statements.</p>

<p>Trump's personal aide, Walt Nauta, was named as a co-conspirator, and charged with six counts for helping Trump hide documents, which were kept at various locations in Mar-a-Lago, according to the indictment, including a ballroom, a bathroom, Trump's bedroom and a storage room.</p>

<p>"The classified documents Trump stored in the boxes included information regarding defense and weapons capabilities of both the United States and foreign countries," the indictment said.</p>

<p>No, these images published by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' rapid response team are fake. They are generated using artificial intelligence technology and are as fake as the photos of Trump being arrested that went viral a couple of months back.</p>

<p>The video is a criticism of Trump's failure to fire Fauci, who was the United States' top infectious disease specialist at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, back when he was the president.</p>

<p>Fauci's push for Covid restrictions, as per Reuters, worked to turn him into a "boogeyman" for many Conservatives. Among those criticising Fauci's policies was Trump. In October 2020, the politician went as far as calling Dr Fauci a "disaster" that has been around for "500 years".</p>

<p>However, in spite of the often public thrashing, Trump refrained from firing Fauci.</p>

<h2><strong>Is the video completely fake?</strong></h2>

<p>As per Reuters, the video apparently includes some real footage of the former US president's press conferences and interviews.</p>

<p>However, the fake AI-generated content is shown with impudence at the 25-second mark. Here, around five seconds of the 35-second video display six images of Fauci and Trump. In three of them, the two men can be seen hugging or kissing.</p>

<h2><strong>How do we know these images are AI-generated?</strong></h2>

<p>Talking to Reuters, Matthew Stamm, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Drexel University, said that as per an analysis of traces left behind by synthetic image generators, the three images of Trump and Fauci kissing and hugging are likely AI-generated.</p>

<p>"Our results consistently output a decision that these images are fake," he added.</p>

<p>She was born in Gary, Indiana, before moving to Michigan as a child. She first began modelling in swimwear competitions in her 20s, after which she was featured in Playboy magazine. She later worked as a fitness model, becoming the first woman to appear on the cover of Men’s Fitness magazine in 1999. She also appeared in TV adverts and small acting roles, such as an uncredited cameo in the 2000 film Charlie’s Angles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to McDougal, she met Trump at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 2006, where he was recording an episode of The Apprentice. She later wrote that Trump, who was also married at that time, “immediately took a liking to me, kept talking to me, telling me how beautiful I was, etc”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>McDougal also claims that she and Trump had a 10-month relationship and they used to see each other “a minimum of five times a month”. She described her relationship with Trump as loving and consensual.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2016, during the run-up to the presidential election, McDougal signed a deal worth $150,000 to tell her story exclusively to the tabloid newspaper, the National Enquirer. This agreement banned her from talking publicly about her alleged affair with Trump.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Though the article was never published, McDougal insists she was tricked into silence about the relationship. The National Enquirer reportedly did a ‘catch and kill’ McDoghal’s story to suppress negative views on Trump. The purchasing of a story to deliberately make it vanish is known as ‘catch and kill’ and many big names use this whenever required.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In 2021, the US Federal Election Commission, which is in charge of enforcing campaign finance law, found that the National Enquirer’s publisher violated election laws by paying for the rights to McDougal’s story and never publishing it.&nbsp;<br />
It was then found that the money paid to McDougal in 2016 was part of an illegal campaign contribution.</p>

<p>The National Enquirer was fined $187,500. McDougal later sued American Media Inc (AMI), the corporate parent of the National Enquirer, and reached an agreement that allowed her to discuss her relationship with Trump.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Prosecutors said in a charging document on Tuesday that Trump did not want the woman's story to become public "because he was concerned about the effect it could have on his candidacy."</p>

<p>McDougal calls herself an advocate for greater awareness of ‘breast implant illness’ saying her breast implants made her sick and she had them removed in 2017. In 2018, she publicly apologised to Trump’s wife, Melania, about the alleged affair, saying, “I’m sorry. I wouldn’t want it done to me”.</p>

<p>The indictment that Trump is facing is solely targeted towards the hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. The details concerning Ms McDougal are contained in the district attorney's statement of facts, which is given as background information to the case.</p>

<p><strong>Tale of two affairs</strong></p>
