<p>As noted in many books, movies, and the hit Netflix series, Diana was faced with backlash from the royal family due to her 'modern, upfront, and brash’ ways. This was in sharp contrast with the Crown. This is what endeared her to the world.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>Why do Indians care?&nbsp;</h2>

<p>Indians, even after being under the yoke of the British Crown for two centuries, mourned the loss of the death of Diana, as much (if not more) than Britishers themselves. “I was at home in London when it happened, and I remember there was a kind of delayed reaction in my head, the way there always is when you hear news that does not make sense”, wrote Sarah Lyall, a London correspondent for The Times at the time.</p>

<p>“I remember the day Princess Di died very clearly. I was living in Bangalore, and my neighbour just rushed in to tell me the news. I was shocked, as if it were a personal loss. She ruled the hearts of millions all over because people could relate to her. She felt like one of us. A human,'' says Anuradha, who was a 26-year-old dental student at the time.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Princess Diana's legacy of kindness, compassion, and advocacy for marginalised communities, including people with HIV/AIDS, resonates deeply with queer individuals who value inclusivity and empathy. Her vulnerability and defiance of royal norms also make her an enduring symbol of resistance to rigid societal expectations," says Adwitya, a man born six years after that fateful day.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The kind of energy that Diana brought on to the global public sphere was so positive that the world wanted her to be happy and she could not be happy throughout her life, and that still strikes a chord. As this unconventionally beautiful woman married into the British Royal Family, an institution still seen as tone-deaf to contemporary realities, Diana brought this receptiveness to that institution. This receptiveness still strikes a chord,” says Mukul Sharma, a journalist who has written extensively on global geopolitics.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“There has been nobody like Diana. People may try to emulate her way of being out in public without any PR. As human beings continue to suffer from the halo effect, Diana's case goes completely against this convention. However, now the Heeramandi actress has shared how he planned the proposal at her favourite childhood place where they travelled together in March. “I was closest to my nani, who passed away a few years ago,” Hydari says. “She started a school in Hyderabad. One day, Siddharth asked me if he could see it, knowing full well how close I had been to her.” “He got down on his knee and I asked him, ‘Now what have you lost? Whose shoelaces are open?’ He kept saying, ‘Addu, listen to me’. And then he proposed. He said he wanted to bring me to my favourite childhood place, one with my grandmother’s blessings,” she said. After their engagement in March, the couple are planning to get married later this year. When asked if they are choosing to tie the knot in Rajasthan or a destination wedding on cruises or some island. Hydari, in response, said that they will tie the knot in a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy, Telangana. ''The wedding will be centred around a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy that is of significance to my family” she said. Siddharth and Aditi started dating after they met on the set of the 2021 film Maha Samudram. Recalling the first time when the actress met him, Hydari said, “He [Siddharth] walked in and said, ‘Hello, beautiful girl’. Usually, when someone says something like this, it does not work. But he was being genuine. By the end of the day, he had me and pretty much everyone on the set in splits. He also ensured that my team and I had ghee idlis whipped up by his cook every day for the rest of the shoot.”

<p>A wolf thought to be behind at least eight killings of people in India's Uttar Pradesh has been caught, said authorities in the northern state on Thursday (Aug 29). It was captured after at least nine people were killed in alleged wolf attacks in the past 45 days in the Bahraich district. Earlier reports attributed the killing to a lone wolf, but recent sightings suggested that a pack of wolves may be involved in the attacks.</p>

<p>The Busan International Film Festival, Asia's largest, will this year posthumously honour late South Korean actor Lee Sun-kyun with the Korea Cinema Award, organisers said Friday.</p>

<p>Lee, best known globally for his starring role in Bong Joon-ho's 2019 Oscar-winning film "Parasite", was found dead in an apparent suicide in December 2023 after a two-month police investigation over suspected drug use, sparking industry outcry and widespread public concern.</p>

<p>The festival's Korea Cinema Award&nbsp;is "presented to filmmakers who have elevated the status of Korean cinema and contributed to its global growth," BIFF organisers said in a statement.</p>

<p>This year, the award "will be given to the late actor Lee Sun-kyun, who won the hearts of both domestic and international film fans through his diverse works," it said, adding the award ceremony will be held during the opening of the next BIFF on October 2.</p>

<p>This year's festival will also feature a special screening of the actor's six film and television works, including "Parasite", "Our Sunhi" (2013) and a portion of TV series "My Mister" (2018).</p>

<p>The programme also includes Lee's last work, released posthumously, "Land of Happiness" (2024), in which the late actor played a military solider during South Korea's authoritarian period in the 1970s.</p>

<p>A graduate of South Korea's prestigious Korea National University of Arts, Lee had won acclaim for his performances in a variety of roles since his debut in the early 2000s, including a charismatic chef and a genius neuroscientist who is incapable of empathy.</p>

<p>Lee received widespread critical acclaim for his performance in the 2018 TV drama series "My Mister", for his portrayal of a diligent architectural engineer, while globally, he is best known for his role as the wealthy and shallow patriarch in Bong's "Parasite".</p>

<p>"We aim to reflect on the acting career and achievements of the late actor Lee, ... who has represented South Korea through his ... profound performances, while also creating a meaningful memorial space," BIFF said.</p>

<p>Following Lee's death, a police officer has come under investigation for allegedly leaking confidential details of Lee's case, which critics claim led to intense mainstream media coverage and a surge of damaging and unverified videos on social media platforms like YouTube.</p>

<p>Previous winners of the Korea Cinema Award include late South Korean acclaimed actress&nbsp;Yoon Jeong-hee, French film critic Charles Tesson and&nbsp;Goran Topalovic, the co-founder of the New York Asian Film Festival.</p>

The programme also includes Lee's last work, released posthumously, "Land of Happiness" (2024), in which the late actor played a military solider during South Korea's authoritarian period in the 1970s. A graduate of South Korea's prestigious Korea National University of Arts, Lee had won acclaim for his performances in a variety of roles since his debut in the early 2000s, including a charismatic chef and a genius neuroscientist who is incapable of empathy. Lee received widespread critical acclaim for his performance in the 2018 TV drama series "My Mister", for his portrayal of a diligent architectural engineer, while globally, he is best known for his role as the wealthy and shallow patriarch in Bong's "Parasite". "We aim to reflect on the acting career and achievements of the late actor Lee, ... who has represented South Korea through his ... profound performances, while also creating a meaningful memorial space," BIFF said. Following Lee's death, a police officer has come under investigation for allegedly leaking confidential details of Lee's case, which critics claim led to intense mainstream media coverage and a surge of damaging and unverified videos on social media platforms like YouTube. Previous winners of the Korea Cinema Award include late South Korean acclaimed actress Yoon Jeong-hee, French film critic Charles Tesson and Goran Topalovic, the co-founder of the New York Asian Film Festival. This year's BIFF will be held in South Korea's port city of Busan from Oct 2 to 11th.

<p>Beloved actor Matthew Perry died tragically on Oct 28 as a result of “acute effects of ketamine” and subsequent drowning at his home in Pacific Palisades, California. Months after his death, in August, five people have been charged in connection with the death of the <em>Friends </em>actor, who provided the drug to the actor that led to his death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per the new information revealed by the New York Post in Perry's death case, a source has revealed that the actor's master bedroom was in bad condition at the time of his death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When police arrived at the actor's home, they found the<em> Friends</em> actor dead in his hot tub — and his master bedroom suite in disarray.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It was a disaster,” the source told The Post. “The master suite looked like someone was in the middle of a long bender. Clothes everywhere, towels on the floor, just dirty.”</p>

<p>But, the rest of the house was clean. The source said it seemed like the cleaning lady, ''wasn’t allowed in those bedrooms.”</p>

<p>“It looks like the bedroom and bathroom had been ransacked. It’s clear from just seeing the scene that something very bad had happened — and someone tried to cover it up,” said the source.&nbsp;</p>

In connection with Perry’s overdose death, the actor's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was arrested. It has been reported that Iwamasa had&nbsp;allegedly&nbsp;disposed of the syringes and drugs, before placing the call to 911. He even called the other accused, Jasveen Sangha, to ask for directions to clear the drugs from the scene.</p>

<p>Perry's assistant is accused of administering at least 27 shots of ketamine to the actor during the last five days of his life — including three final shots that allegedly resulted in Perry’s “death and serious bodily injury.”</p>

Beloved actor Matthew Perry died tragically on Oct 28 as a result of “acute effects of ketamine” and subsequent drowning at his home in Pacific Palisades, California. Months after his death, in August, five people have been charged in connection with the death of the Friends actor, who provided the drug to the actor that led to his death. As per the new information revealed by the New York Post in Perry's death case, a source has revealed that the actor's master bedroom was in bad condition at the time of his death. When police arrived at the actor's home, they found the Friends actor dead in his hot tub — and his master bedroom suite in disarray. Also read: Matthew Perry's last words before death revealed in new court documents “It was a disaster,” the source told The Post. “The master suite looked like someone was in the middle of a long bender. Clothes everywhere, towels on the floor, just dirty.” But, the rest of the house was clean. The source said it seemed like the cleaning lady, ''wasn’t allowed in those bedrooms.” “It looks like the bedroom and bathroom had been ransacked. It’s clear from just seeing the scene that something very bad had happened — and someone tried to cover it up,” said the source. Also read: Friends' creator says fans should remember Matthew Perry for 'joy', not how he died In connection with Perry’s overdose death, the actor's assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, was arrested. It has been reported that Iwamasa had allegedly disposed of the syringes and drugs, before placing the call to 911. He even called the other accused, Jasveen Sangha, to ask for directions to clear the drugs from the scene. Perry's assistant is accused of administering at least 27 shots of ketamine to the actor during the last five days of his life — including three final shots that allegedly resulted in Perry’s “death and serious bodily injury.” Apart from Iwamasa, two licensed doctors, Salvador Plasencia and Mark Chavez; the actor's acquaintance, Erik Fleming; and Jasveen Sangha aka the Ketamine Queen, an alleged drug dealer, were arrested in Perry's death.

<p>Taylor Swift has opened up for the first time about the foiled terror plot at the Vienna leg of her Eras tour which led to the cancellation of the concerts in the Austrian capital. In a lengthy Instagram post, the American pop sensation&nbsp;said she felt tremendous guilt and shared how she went through a rollercoaster of emotions.</p>

<h2><strong>How Vienna terror plot&nbsp;led to Taylor Swift concert cancellation</strong></h2>

<p>In early August, Austrian police foiled a terror attack plot led by a 19-year-old Islamic State supporter, who wanted to kill himself and many others on or before the Swift concerts in Vienna. The Vienna leg of the tour was to have taken place from August 8 to 10 at the Ernst Happel stadium. There was hope initially that the concert could go on, but authorities stopped it citing an&nbsp;“abstract danger”, leaving thousands of her fans known as Swifties heartbroken.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>The terror plot evoked memories of the Ariana Grande concert bombing in the UK's Manchester Arena in 2019 which killed at least 23 people.</p>

<p>Austrian police arrested the 19-year-old and two others aged 17 and 18 and said the main suspect had been radicalised online and became a sympathiser of Islamic State. Authorities raided his house and found bomb-making chemicals.</p>

<h2><strong>What Taylor Swift said in her Instagram post on Vienna tour cancellation</strong></h2>

<p>In the Instagram post titled 'In Summation', Swift said on Wednesday night (Aug 21) that having the Vienna shows cancelled was "devastating".</p>

<p>“The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives,” she wrote.</p>

<p>In the wake of the Vienna gig cancellation, she said all her energy went into protecting “the nearly half a million people I had coming to see the shows in London” in the subsequent days.&nbsp;<br />

<br />
“My team and I worked hand in hand with stadium staff and British authorities every day in pursuit of that goal, and I want to thank them for everything they did for us...Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows.”</p>

<p>The Instagram post was shared as she wound up the European leg of her blockbuster tour.</p>

<p>Swift said she chose to remain silent about the Vienna incident as a form of “showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to."</p>

<p>"My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that,” she said.</p>

Taylor Swift has opened up for the first time about the foiled terror plot at the Vienna leg of her Eras tour which led to the cancellation of the concerts in the Austrian capital.

Taylor Swift has opened up for the first time about the foiled terror plot at the Vienna leg of her Eras tour which led to the cancellation of the concerts in the Austrian capital. In a lengthy Instagram post, the American pop sensation said she felt tremendous guilt and shared how she went through a rollercoaster of emotions. How Vienna terror plot led to Taylor Swift concert cancellation In early August, Austrian police foiled a terror attack plot led by a 19-year-old Islamic State supporter, who wanted to kill himself and many others on or before the Swift concerts in Vienna. The Vienna leg of the tour was to have taken place from August 8 to 10 at the Ernst Happel stadium. There was hope initially that the concert could go on, but authorities stopped it citing an “abstract danger”, leaving thousands of her fans known as Swifties heartbroken. WATCH: Taylor Swift shows in Vienna cancelled after 2 arrested for planning terror plot × The terror plot evoked memories of the Ariana Grande concert bombing in the UK's Manchester Arena in 2019 which killed at least 23 people. Austrian police arrested the 19-year-old and two others aged 17 and 18 and said the main suspect had been radicalised online and became a sympathiser of Islamic State. Authorities raided his house and found bomb-making chemicals. What Taylor Swift said in her Instagram post on Vienna tour cancellation In the Instagram post titled 'In Summation', Swift said on Wednesday night (Aug 21) that having the Vienna shows cancelled was "devastating". “The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear, and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives,” she wrote. In the wake of the Vienna gig cancellation, she said all her energy went into protecting “the nearly half a million people I had coming to see the shows in London” in the subsequent days. Also read: Post Vienna scare: Unticketed Taylor Swift fans banned from standing outside London stadium Swift said she chose to remain silent about the Vienna incident as a form of “showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to." "My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that,” she said.
