A man in South Korea has admitted to killing his girlfriend and putting her body under cement in the balcony of his apartment, 16 years after she went missing. The 58-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder, media reports said on Tuesday (Sep 24). The incident happened in 2008. During a heated argument, the man said he hit his then-girlfriend, who was in her 30s, with a blunt object. He concealed her body in a travel suitcase. He then laid the body on the balcony of his flat and put bricks and cement over it. He painted the bricks green, so that it appeared as if it's part of the balcony structure, reported Yonhap news agency. Since actor Matthew Perry's sudden death, his Friends co-star and close pal Matt LeBlanc has maintained quite a low profile. Recently, LeBlanc left his fans concerned with his rough and aged look during his rare public appearance. Days after LeBlanc's photos went viral, several reports have claimed that his Friends co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer were left concerned over the actor's reclusive behaviour. An inside source has told In Touch that all the co-stars have reached out to him and are offering help in the way they can. Earlier this month, LeBlanc looked unrecognisable during his rare public appearance in Los Angeles. Matt, 57, looked aged as he stepped out wearing a black t-shirt with dark jeans and a baseball. “Nobody’s body shaming Matt or accusing him of anything untoward lifestyle, that’s not what’s going on here,” the insider says.
Filmmaker Kiran Rao says she hopes her film Laapataa Ladies will be considered for India's official entry at the 2025 Academy Awards.

It is the filmmaker's long-cherished dream that her film would represent the country at the Oscar stage. At the same time, Rao said the Film Federation of India (FFI) will pick the best film.

“My dream would be fulfilled if it was, if it would go (to Oscars). But it's a process, and I'm hoping it'll (Laapataa Ladies) be considered. I'm sure the best film will go, whoever they choose in the scheme of things,” Rao told PTI.

Laapataa Ladies is a heartwarming and empowering take on two brides in rural India in 2001 who accidentally got swapped during a train journey. The film is produced by Rao’s Kindling Productions and Aamir Khan Productions.

The film, which was released in March this year to universal praise from the critics, features Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta and Sparsh Shrivastav in the lead roles alongside Ravi Kishan, Chhaya Kadam and Geeta Aggarwal Sharma.

Rao on Thursday attended film institute Whistling Woods International’s “Celebrate Cinema 2024” along with writer Sneha Desai and Goel.

The filmmaker said she feels overwhelmed by the love coming her way for the movie.

“They’ve picked up all the little nuances and every single detail. It’s really so heartening and rewarding to a filmmaker when there’s that kind of love. It’s not just (limited to) ‘it’s a good film and you carry on’,” she said.

The critically-acclaimed film aims to promote the idea of gender equality in the rural space of India as well as emphasises women's education and empowerment.

The fact that he watched the film and reached out to us, we couldn’t believe it. We were so grateful and excited.

“It really gave us a chance to take this film to a wider consciousness and audience because the Supreme Court and the chief justice himself have in some way endorsed the film or put their goodwill into promoting the film in their circle. It really made or did a lot for our film, even for audiences as they felt that, ‘wow, there’s merit in watching this film’. It really helped our film even get out further,” she said.

Asked if she wants the film to re-release in theatres, given the ongoing trend of old hits and classics returning to cinema halls, Rao said she wouldn’t mind it as she believes that audiences have opened to arthouse cinema today.

“It would be lovely to see it again because when I made it and when it was released, it was a very different time. People were not very exposed to, in that sense, unusual arthouse cinema. So, what the audiences think of it now would be nice to see,” the filmmaker said.

Taal@25: Aishwarya Rai's iconic musical drama to re-release on big screen on this day

When Colin Farrell looked in the mirror after donning prosthetic makeup for his role as the title character in the Max series The Penguin, he could no longer recognize himself.

“I looked in the mirror, and I saw something looking back that was not me,” the Irish actor said.

Farrell added that, except for his hands, every part of his body was transformed by The Penguin designer Mike Marino.

Oscars 2025: France to send Emilia Perez for Best International Feature

The crime drama series is based on the popular DC Comics villain named Penguin and serving as a spinoff of the 2022 film The Batman, which Farrell also starred in as the Penguin. It unpacks Oswald “Oz” Cobb’s - AKA the Penguin’s - rise to power through crime in fictional Gotham City.

Along with the The Banshees of Inisherin actor, the series stars Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, heiress of a mob family, and Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar, a teenager who becomes the Penguin’s driver.

"Sofia comes from such astronomical wealth, and Victor and Oz come from the rough, poor, side of the city," Milioti said of the main characters.

"Yet they all go through these horrible things," she added.

The show is produced by DC Studios in association with Warner Bros. Television and arrives on Max on Thursday. All three are units of Warner Bros. Discovery.

For Farrell, what he calls his “powerful transformation” into the Penguin wasn’t just about external alterations to his appearance; it was a psychological change.

“There was a particular internal change that happened with such an abundance of external brilliance that was placed upon me,” he said.

Like Farrell, Feliz was taken off guard by the striking difference in Farrell’s appearance for his sinister role.

“You know it’s Colin doing the thing, but then it’s like a magic trick going on because your brain’s telling you that it looks like Oz, but your brain knows that it’s Colin,” Feliz said.

Milioti also found herself impressed by the makeup used in the show.

“The makeup is so real, there’s not a part of it that looks like someone’s in makeup. It moves, it feels real,” she said.

However, it was her co-star's connection to the character that Milioti found especially interesting.

“Colin is in such communion with that character,” she said.

On set, Milioti saw Farrell dressed as Oz more than she saw him dressed as his normal self.

“Even if he would still talk, like ‘How was your weekend?’ I was with the visual of Oz cuz I do feel like I know this other person that’s very real to me and very real to him, and real to all of us that were there.” she said.
