The company has conducted tests, launched a fuel depot demonstrator, and is planning its next launch in 2024 for a mission with the Air Force Research Lab.

"We are delivering fuel in geostationary orbit for a mission that is being undertaken by the Air Force Research Lab," said CEO Daniel Faber.

Simone D’Amico, an associate professor of astronautics at Stanford University, noted that this is key to the safe and sustainable development of space.

"Could you imagine a ground mobility infrastructure, roads and cities, without gas stations and auto repair shops? Could you imagine single-use cars or aeroplanes?" he asked.&nbsp;

"The development of space infrastructure and the proliferation of space assets is reaching a critical volume that is not sustainable any more without a change of paradigm."

"It's probably the only company in the world that has positioned itself to deploy 'gas stations' in orbit," said the Stanford University who has no affiliation with Orbit Fab.&nbsp;

"I think Orbit Fab's approach is really visionary and can pay off in the mid to long term. However, it has high risk in the short term, since satellites have to be designed having reusability and refuelling in mind," he added.

ISRO chairman S Somanath on Sunday (Oct 15) said that the experts, who were given the task of developing complex rocket missions in the United States, appealed to India to share space technology with them after seeing the development of Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft. &nbsp;

Speaking at an event in Rameswaram, he said that the times have changed and India has the capacity to build the best of the best rockets and devices, and this is the reason why Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened the space sector to private players.&nbsp;

Somanath was speaking to students during a programme organised by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Foundation to commemorate the late former president's 92nd birth anniversary.&nbsp;

“About five to six people from Nasa-JPL came (to Isro headquarters) and we explained to them about Chandrayaan-3. That was before the soft landing took place (on August 23). We explained how we designed it and how our engineers made it, and how we are going to land on the Moon’s surface, and they just said, 'no comments. everything is going to be good'," he added. &nbsp;

<h2>'Sell these advanced scientific instruments to the US'</h2>

JPL is a research and development laboratory, which is getting funded by NASA and is being managed by the California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) in the US.

“They (US space experts) also said one thing, 'look at the scientific instruments, they are very cheap. Very easy to build and they are advanced. How did you build it? Why don’t you sell this to America,' they were asking," he stated. &nbsp;"So you (students) can understand how times have changed. We are capable of building the best equipment, the best devices, and the best rockets in India. That is why our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened the space sector," Somanath added.

This technology is even more suitable for reusable rockets, making it the front-running design in the new era of rocketry.&nbsp;

This year so far, two launch attempts with the use of methane-powered engines have already ended in failure. Two methane-powered rockets, the Terran 1 from Relativity Space in the US and SpaceX’s Starship, failed to reach space in their maiden attempts.

<h2>Chinese aerospace industry on a roll</h2>

Beijing Tianbing Technology Co, another Chinese aerospace company, made history in April this year by becoming the first private sector company in the world to reach orbit in its first try. It launched its first rocket Tianlong-2 from Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert, and successfully deposited a small remote-sensing satellite into sun-synchronous orbit.

Astronomers successfully observed and captured a supernova blast in space over 14 years. Now, it has given them fascinating insights into the supernovas that mark the end of a star’s life-cycle.

With images from over a decade, astronomers observed the supernova in space as it exploded with speeds of up to 4,000 kilometres per second (2,485 miles).

What is a supernova? How far is this one from Earth?

They observed the remains of a supernova called “MSH 15-52”, situated 17,000 light-years away from Earth. It is one of the youngest known legacies of a supernova within the Milky Way and flung its remains into a gas of cloud called “RCW 89”.

Approximately 1,700 years ago, the star began to die after running out of fuel. The death of stars in space is markedly violent, as they explode the outer material to collapse unto themselves.

Supernovas are essentially large-scale explosions that take place once the star runs out of energy and collapses into itself. For this reason, they are considered the largest explosions in space.

Once the star collapsed, it became a dead star called a “pulsar”, with densely packed neutrons and high speed rotations. Its rotational movement played an important role in the X-ray which shows the explosion in action. In a new study, scientists used images from 2004, 2008, and 2017-18 to note and understand the changes in the gas cloud “RCW 89”, which the supernova seems to be expanding.

How did the scientists study the supernova?

Scientists calculated the distance travelled by the dead star’s remnants to understand its reach. The scientist were literally guided by a “hand” to the explosion, the fingertip of which shows the MSH 15-52 meeting RCW 89. This meeting was rather fierce, causing movement at speeds of 4,000-5,000 kilometres per second.

According to ScienceAlert, the many knots visible in the graphic are cosmic entities made of magnesium and neon that formed in the star before the explosion. The slowest speed touched by the remnants is reportedly 1,000 kilometres per second!

According to The Byte, JAXA has collaborated with Sony, Doshisha University and toymaker Tomy to create a ball-shaped robot capable of transformation.&nbsp;The goal of this quirky robot will be to study the lunar soil before a crewed rover takes the stage in 2029.

The robot will weigh&nbsp;249 grams (8.8 ounce) and be encased in a ball which will facilitate its movement to a lunar lander. Ispace, a private robotics company will assist the development of the robot.

The robot’s toy-like sensibilities are reflected in how it’s expected to operate on the Moon. JAXA claims that the robot will expand and open up after landing on the lunar surface.&nbsp;

Once on the surface, it’ll drive itself to its full configuration mode and capture picture of the Moon’s surface. Due to its transforming&nbsp;nature, JAXA believes the robot will come in handy in many missions that follow.

China today completed the deployment of its own global navigation system. The last of 35 satellites to power China’s homegrown navigation system are now in space.&nbsp;The historic launch took 30 minutes until it was confirmed as a successful mission.

However, over 100 countries are fighting COVID-19 right now, but China had other plans. China calls this group of satellites the “Beidou” navigation satellite system.

Beidou is the Mandarin name for the the big dipper constellation and caters to Chinese plans that seek to end dependence on foreign GPS systems.

"Our Falcon 9 recovery forces will be standing by ready to go and recover as much of the Falcon as we can as safely as possible," Reed said.&nbsp;
