Shashi Kapoor's funeral: Bollywood bids final goodbye to the legend

All roads led to Antilla in Mumbai on Sunday as Mukesh Ambani threw a grand party to welcome London Mayor Sadiq Khan. Some of Bollywood’s biggest names came together to give Khan a warm welcome to India.

So who all were in attendance, you ask? From Amitabh Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan to Alia Bhatt to Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Farah Khan- all came to meet the mayor.

Filmmaker Anand L Rai's film featuring Shah Rukh Khan is a highly anticipated film. The superstar will be seen playing a dwarf for the first time on the big screen.

Khan, who is already shooting for the film, will have Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif as his female leads.

Incidentally, the film will also feature a bevy of Bollywood beauties in cameo roles.
The 48th International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) opened at Panjim, Goa amid Padmavati controversy. The event saw I&B Ministry rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in the film industry and while most artistes avoided addressing the controversy, some did speak about the issue.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who opened the inaugural ceremony, spoke subtly about the importance of cinema and art, slyly addressing to raging issues at IFFI- the Padmavati controversy and the exclusion of two films from the festival.

"Sometimes we feel very happy watching films. Sometimes we dance along with the film. At other times we get angry disturbed, or agitated. That exactly is the magic of storytelling, a magic which has the power to touch all our senses and in doing so, actually binding us together," the actor said.

"The essence of storytelling is incomplete if there is no story listener. And I believe that storytellers and story listeners are or at least should be like a family. There is a word in Sanskrit. Vasudaiva Kutumbhakam. It means bringing the world together like a family. I believe no matter what your language is, no matter what country your story comes from, and no matter what your ideology is, story-telling and listening should be a familial experience which binds us together," the actor further added.

The actor's indirect message was delivered in the presence of I&B minister Smriti Irani, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi and others.

IFFI 2017 has been in the news for some time now due to the Ministry's decision to drop Malayalam film S Durga and Marathi film Nude from the screening list. Owing to this sudden change, jury head, filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh resigned from his post last week.

Shahid Kapoor, who features in Padmavati with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh was also present at the inaugural function. Shahid categorically said that the film should not be held guilty without people watching it. " "It will be a precedent which I am not proud of if the film finds it difficult to release. I believe that the film will release. I believe that this process is difficult and like I said, I went through a similar process with Udta Punjab," the actor said.

The festival's inauguration also saw the presence of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, actress Sridevi and head of the competition's international jury Muzaffar Ali, among others.
AbRam thinks Amitabh Bachchan is Shah Rukh's 'papa'

Amitabh Bachchan's granddaughter Aaradhya turned 6 last week and Bachchan family threw a grand party for the little one and her friends over the weekend. The party saw many of the celebrities in attendance with their children. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan's daughter Aaradhya's birthday bash had a fairytale set up complete with Ferris wheel, cotton candies and Disney princesses as part of the decor. Proud grandfather, Big B has been sharing photos of the party on Twitter and what caught our attention was these adorable snaps of Shah Rukh Khan and his son AbRam at the party. Big B shared a few photos of the father-son duo and tweeted, "And as for this little bundle .. he wanted the fluffy 'buddhi ka baal' cone .. so we took him to the stall made one for him and the joy of getting it is just priceless .. Abram, jr Shahrukh .. delectable !!" Indian actor Shah Rukh Khan 'will not work with Pakistani artistes in future'

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you, and everything you do… when Coldplay released their song "Yellow" back in the year 2000 little did they know that one day they would literally have some of the world’s biggest stars shining for something that they strongly believe in. The Global Citizen Festival, an initiative to remove extreme poverty from the world is the annual music festival that originated in New York in 2012. The creative director for the festival is the charismatic Chris Martin, frontliner of the British rock band "Coldplay" whose music we have been grooving too for the last 16 years. Chris's association with this noble cause seems like the icing on the cake for the global citizens of the world, which simply means that besides fabulous Coldplay concerts we also get great audio-visual treats from some of the world’s biggest entertainers, all the while doing some good towards sustainable development which is clearly the need of the hour.

The festival’s Indian edition that took place in Mumbai on Saturday the 19th of November had citizens of India buzzing on social media weeks before the event trying to secure their free tickets for participating in the change that the concert strives to create in the next few years. The CEO of The Global Citizens Festival, Hugh Evans, told media that they are able to track and maintain data of all those who continue to remain active to promote Global Citizen goals throughout the year and of course they record a huge spike when it's nearing a festival date.

American rapper Jay-Z opened his performance with AR Rahman’s famous "Chaiya chaiya" tune that sent the crowd into a loud frenzy and bouncing to the fusion beats. He got the entire audience to hold up their lit cellphones for one of his tracks that made for some great footage that was captured by the camera drone that was seen hovering over the venue throughout the event. However the two-hour long performance by Coldplay that closed the festival was nothing short of unadulterated entertainment that the audience had hoped for. Chris addressed the Indian audience by first apologizing for taking so many years to come to India to perform but countered it by saying that the band had invested the last 16 years to practice for their first-ever India concert. The thousands of pastel coloured paper stars that shot into the air during their performance lent to the dreamy effect for the thousands of people cheering in the audience. And the multi-coloured beach balls were a perfect addition that complemented the visual extravagance projected on stage, which kept floating around thanks to a very enthusiastic crowd.

Happy and content with seeing Coldplay live, the Indian fans had no idea what was going to be the night’s highlight until Chris invited AR Rahman to join the band and belt out one of the latter’s most loved classics "Vande Mataram". The meaningful lyrics and melodious tune became even more genuine when Chris joined AR Rahman in singing parts of the chorus which you knew were definitely not lip synced.

This was one event that did not disappoint unless the post event chaos is something to dampen your spirits, but what would you expect with over 80,000 people in one place. Taxi apps had prices flying off the map with little or no availability, which forced many people who could not get to their own or hired wheels to make the long walk home. But somehow walking under the stars, being amongst them and seeing them shine truly made everything yellow.
