<p>Scotland is reportedly gearing up for a notable 30 per cent hike in the lowest price of alcoholic beverages, a move aimed at tackling alcohol-related health problems.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ministers in Edinburgh, as per the Guardian, are likely to confirm the increase from 50p to 65p per unit starting in May, a step taken six years after Scotland led the UK in introducing this pricing strategy.</p>

<p>The proposed 65p minimum unit price is meant to keep up with inflation and maintain control over the sale of inexpensive alcohol. Advocates for public health welcome this, emphasising its potential to improve overall well-being. Under the revised pricing, a standard bottle of whisky in Scotland is expected to cost £18.20 ($22.92), vodka £16.90 ($21.28), and a four-pack of basic lager £4.58 ($5.77).</p>

<p>However, the country has seen a worrying 25 per cent rise in alcohol-related deaths in the last three years, coupled with a 40 per cent decline in people seeking alcohol treatment services over a decade.</p>

<p>A long-time champion of the measure, Rennie said, "More than 20 people a week in Scotland die due to alcohol misuse, so we need to take steps to stop alcohol wrecking lives and communities."</p>

<p>"That's before you even get to the pressure that it imposes on our health and justice systems," he said.</p>

<p>However, the Wine and Spirit Trade Association is reportedly planning to argue for the elimination of minimum pricing.</p>

<p>"Targeted measures have significantly greater impact without penalising the vast majority who do drink responsibly," said the trade association's consumer affairs director David Richardson.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Scottish Labour supports the policy but suggested an additional alcohol levy on retailers. This levy, they propose, would tax the extra profits retailers make due to minimum pricing, directing the funds towards the NHS and efforts to combat addiction.</p>

The 58-year-old Scottish woman, who stumbled upon this literary gem while touring the Scottish Highlands with her family, shared her serendipitous story. Purchasing the book before the Harry Potter phenomenon took hold, she recognised its cover and title after reading an early interview with then-unknown author J.K. Rowling in The Scotsman newspaper, as reported by the New York Post. Placed in a wicker 'bargain bucket,' the book lacked a dust jacket, allowing her to negotiate a lower price. Unaware of its potential value, her children later researched online, suspecting it might be a first edition due to the missing dust jacket. IN PICS | Scotland: Hundreds join largest Loch Ness monster hunt in 50 years

Hundreds of monster hunters are gathering here in the highlands with a singular goal: to be the ones to finally find the Loch Ness monster. But it won’t be easy.

Scotland to hold biggest Loch Ness monster hunt in 50 years

Aldie Mackay, the hotel manager at the Drumnadrochit, stormed into the bar one evening to inform the stunned customers that she had just seen a "water beast" in Loch Ness 90 years prior. The modern myth surrounding an elusive monster living in the depths of the Highland loch was started by this sighting, which was zealously reported in the Inverness Courier. Next weekend, hundreds of Nessie enthusiasts are expected to participate in the largest organized hunt for the mysterious creature in 50 years.

Scotland: Loch Ness monster enthusiasts prepare for search operation

<p>A lake located in Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness, will witness&nbsp;an unprecedented hunt for a monster as enthusiasts from around the world are gearing up for what is set to be the largest organised search in five decades. Loch Ness is popularly known in Scottish folklore for its deep, dark waters and the legendary creature said to inhabit it, often referred to as the "Loch Ness Monster" or "Nessie." Loch Ness is one of the largest and deepest lakes in the United Kingdom, with a maximum depth of around 755 feet (230 metres).</p>

<h1><strong>The quest</strong></h1>

<p>Organised in collaboration with the voluntary research team Loch Ness Exploration, this massive search operation will witness participants from across the globe uniting both in-person and online. This coordinated effort aims to execute the most comprehensive surface watch ever attempted, spanning a two-day timeframe.</p>

<p>Volunteers will scan the waters for any disturbances or enigmatic movement&nbsp;that might hint at the elusive creature's presence beneath the surface.</p>
