Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said the newly designed 'Telangana Thalli' (Mother Telangana) portrait represents the state's cultural ethos and motherhood.

In a veiled attack on the previous BRS regime, Reddy said it is a deficiency that the design and portrait of 'Telangana Thalli' were not officially announced during the last 10 years.

Making a statement in the Assembly on the installation of the 'Telangana Thalli' statue in Secretariat premises on Monday evening, he said the government consulted Telangana agitation protagonists, poets, and artists on finalising the image and portrait.

According to the CM, intellectuals and Telangana protagonists favoured the image of a mother. The image finalised by the government represents the state's culture and traditions.

The design finalised by the government depicts Mother Telangana in traditional attire, exuding a dignified appearance. The right hand symbolises reassurance, while the left-hand holds traditional Telangana crops—paddy, jowar, and maize, he said.

The colours blue, green, red, and gold in the image represent Telangana's rivers, agricultural heritage, progress, and prosperity, respectively, he added. The closed fists at the base of the statue reflect the state's history of struggles and agitations.

The bench added, “Why should political rivalries involve the court? Do we issue orders based on consultations with political parties? We are not concerned with political criticism of our decisions. We act according to our conscience and oath.”

The judges said, “We have always stated that we do not interfere in legislative matters, and we expect the same from others. Do we issue orders based on political considerations?”

The Supreme Court was considering a petition to transfer the trial of the 2015 cash-for-vote scam case, where Reddy is an accused, from Telangana to Bhopal.

Reddy told reporters, “It is evident that BRS supported BJP’s victory in the 2024 LS elections. There are also claims that Kavitha’s bail resulted from a deal between BRS and BJP.”

K Kavitha, daughter of ex-Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Wednesday (August 28).

“Investigation is complete and charge sheet has been filed. The custody of the appellant (Kavitha) is not necessary. She has been behind bars for five months. The likelihood of trial being concluded in near future is impossible. As said in various pronouncements of this court, under-trial custody should not turn into a punishment,” the bench said in its order.

The Delhi Police will likely summon the members of the Telangana Congress for the second time over India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah's fake video case, said&nbsp;officials on Thursday (May 2).

The development comes after the four members of the Telangana Congress, who were asked to appear before the office of the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) on Wednesday (May 1), did not do so.

"We will again ask them to appear before the IO (investigating officer), as they did not come on Wednesday," an officer, privy to the investigation said.

The police had issued notices to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and four Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) members -- Shiva Kumar Ambala, Asma Tasleem, Satish Manne and Naveen Pettem -- under sections 91 and 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

Reddy's attorney appeared before the court on Wednesday and affirmed that he was neither involved in tampering with the video nor in its circulation.

The police officials said that over 22 people from several political parties in various states including Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh were served notices in connection with the case and have been asked to appear before court on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Indian National Congress' Anumula Revanth Reddy on Thursday (Dec 7) took oath as Chief Minister of the southern Indian state of Telangana marking the first time the youngest state has got a chief minister from the grand old party of India. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath of office at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Hyderabad, the state capital. Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu took oath as the Deputy CM of the state. The state of Telangana was carved out from Andhra Pradesh in the year 2014. Andhra Pradesh still is a state, but its area has reduced greatly.

Telangana Governor Soundarajan also administered oath to Gaddam Prasad Kumar who will take charge as Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Other than Reddy himself, 11 members of his cabinet took the oath (including Kumar and Mallu). Among them was former Telangana Congress chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy who had previously opposed Revanth Reddy's choice for the chief ministerial post.

Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge along with Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was present for the swearing-in ceremony.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were present as well.

Telangana Congress Working President Revanth Reddy was detained on Tuesday ahead of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and the state's caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao`s election rally in Vikarabad district.

Reddy was detained in order to prevent any untoward incident during Rao`s rally in Kosgi, Kodangal, a report said.&nbsp;

He was shifted to an undisclosed location after he was picked up from his residence earlier in the day, the report added.
