According to local media reports, Poh's Zeus Education Centre was tasked with providing tuition to six students – aged 17 to 20 – to help them pass their exams and enter local vocational colleges known as polytechnics.

She was paid 8,000 Singaporean dollars ($6,100) per student, as well as $1,000 Singaporean dollars in admission fees. However, if the students failed, then she was to refund the money.

During the exams, the students, all said to be Chinese nationals, arrived at different venues for their papers wearing skin-coloured in-ear headphones.

Poh and her accomplices taped the phones and Bluetooth devices to their bodies and skilfully concealed them under their clothes.

Another co-accused and her girlfriend Tan Jia Yan, enrolled herself as a private candidate and used FaceTime on her phone to livestream the question papers back to the tuition centre.

Both then worked on the questions and called the students to read the answers to them.

Their plan was uncovered when an invigilator heard unusual electronic transmission sounds and voices coming from one of the students.

As scorching heat sweeps the nation, officials are concerned about the consequences on people's health as well as on a healthcare system that is already under stress from the COVID-19 outbreak.

According to Barclay, further precautions are being taken by the government and ambulance trusts to handle any higher demand brought on by potentially record-breaking temperatures.

Barclay said that while COVID is an "additional pressure," the government is making sure that all hospitals are using their capacity to the fullest in order to prevent unnecessary delays for patients.

"Due to high tide resulting in water logging at Vadala and Parel suburban services are suspended on mainline and harbour line. However, shuttle services are running between Vashi and Panvel and Thane and Kalyan-beyond. No suburban trains are held up in between stations. Dn mail/express trains are being rescheduled. Information will be updated from time to time further," said Sutar.

The NDRF has already deployed 13 teams in Gujarat including 2 kept as reserve and 16 in Maharashtra including 7 teams as a reserve, while one team each was deployed for Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. NDRF is aiding the state governments for the evacuation of people from low lying coastal areas.

This will be the first time that a cyclone will make landfall on the Maharashtra coast in June since record-keeping began in 1891.

Meanwhile, at 9 pm on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that the well-marked low-pressure area over South-East and adjoining East-Central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area concentrated into a depression and it is very likely to intensify into a deep depression during next 12 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm over the East-Central Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours."The depression lays about 310km southwest of Panjim, 570km south-southwest of Mumbai, 800 km south-southwest of Surat. It will cross Harihareshwar (Maharashtra) and Daman coast on the evening of June 3," IMD said.

Meanwhile, at 9 pm on Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said that the well-marked low-pressure area over South-East and adjoining East-Central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area concentrated into a depression and it is very likely to intensify into a deep depression during next 12 hours and intensify further into a cyclonic storm over the East-Central Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours."The depression lays about 310km southwest of Panjim, 570km south-southwest of Mumbai, 800 km south-southwest of Surat. India&#39;s economic slowdown has bottomed out and now it should start moving upwards after recovering from the &quot;temporary blip&quot; seen during the recent structural changes, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on&nbsp;Thursday.

Addressing investors at the Morgan Stanley annual conference here on &#39;India: Structural Reforms and Growth Path Ahead&#39;, Jaitley talked about the &quot;massive&quot; economic reforms undertaken by India.

He acknowledged that there was a &quot;temporary blip&quot; as a result of structural changes that were initiated by the government.

&quot;I think the bottoming out of the economy is complete and now it should start moving upwards. The global economy is also moving up,&quot; said Jaitly.

As part of the summit, Jaitley met the senior management of Morgan Stanley and addressed a gathering of senior fund managers and key financial institutional investors.

&quot;How do I see the economy moving? our basic parameters are quite stable. And we grew between 7-8 per cent over the last three years,? he said.

&quot;Therefore, we need over the next, at least, a decade, if not more, significantly higher growth rates in order to go ahead with expansion plan of the Indian economy,? Jaitley said.

The finance minister also assured investors of a strong banking sector in India.

&quot;The combination of the IT scheme and now the large-scale recapitalisation we have announced should be put into motion expeditiously,&quot; he said.

The combination of these two steps are likely to improve the capacity of the banks, and even lend their surplus, particularly to the small and medium-scale industries which need those funds in abundance because they are the ones that are the big job creators and keep the Indian economy going, he elaborated.

He also clarified the often over-stated labour issues, saying these were no longer there as the negative environment of disruption of industrial activity is long over.

He said the labour laws are being fortified by taking the unions into consultation, and there has not been any significant labour resistance in recent times, whether it is disinvestment or privatisation, he said.

&quot;We haven?t encountered trade union resistance as that is concerned,&quot; he pointed out, adding that there are already various kinds of reforms.

Responding to questions from investors, he said among the privatisation of public sector units (PSUs), Air India is in a very advanced stage while some of the PSUs will be kept as they are.

The state enterprises in the oil and some in the power sectors will be kept as PSUs.
