In a media interaction, when Rao was asked if he would like to a gay character in a film, whom he would like as a partner, he responded that it would be none other than Ranveer Singh as he mentions that Singh is a good friend and he is impressed with Singh's career graph.

It does not come as a surprise as the two were also seen bonding at actor’s roundtable that happened sometime last month.

In an earlier conversation with PTI, when he was asked about being compared to Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, he said, "I take it as a compliment. I'm a huge fan of both Ranbir and Ranveer, they are doing tremendously good. I'm looking forward to 'Gully Boy' and 'Brahmastra'. I never see competition in any art form, especially acting as you are dealing with emotions. I can't say I cry better than the other actor. You just have to grow with every film as an actor and let people decide what they want to say. I just want to grow and push myself with every film."

There's a reason why Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are celebrated as a couple. The couple got married in November and since then have been giving their fans several #couplegoals together.

The latest example of their love was given by Ranveer Singh, who recently posted a heartfelt letter for his lady love on her website.

For those coming in late, Deepika Padukone kick-started the new year by launching her website on her birthday- 5th January. Like a loving and a doting husband, Ranveer Singh posted a love-filled letter for his wife on the website.

He started off by stating that he has always faced difficulty in expressing his feelings for Deepika. “Deepika is the most amazing person I’ve met in my life. And I’m not just saying this because she’s my wife. I find it particularly challenging to articulate all my feelings about her, and even though I find language to be a limiting means to express myself, I shall try,” he wrote.

Speaking about the kind of dynamics the two lovebirds share, Ranveer wrote, “I can safely say I’m the closest person to her in this world. I know her deeply as a person and I’ve collaborated closely with her as a professional. Deepika nurtures a universe within herself: of love, compassion, kindness, intelligence, beauty, grace and empathy. These qualities make her a true and authentic artiste- she’s one of the finest actors in the world,” he continued gushing about her wife.

Praising her for her inner strength, resilience, grit and an iron-will, Ranveer wrote, “Her discipline and commitment is unparalleled. Her path-breaking achievements have changed the game time and again. A woman so righteous and full of virtue, that she commands respect.” And if all this wasn’t enough to win him the title of Husband of the year, pouring some more love in his letter Ranveer wrote, “I sometimes stop and admire her, aware that she is a special soul, born for greatness. She’s born to positively impact lives through the shining beacon of her virtuous being.”

He concluded the letter by calling himself the proudest husband in the world, “She inspires me to be the best man I can possibly be. She makes my life worth living. She is true …the light of my life,” he wrote.Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot in two traditional, dreamy ceremonies in November last year, six years after their first film `Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela.`

The year 2019 has just begun and we already have the selfie of the year. On Thursday, Karan Johar and a bunch of young stars from Bollywood came to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss on how cinema can help in nation building.

The meeting was facilitated by Karan Johar and had leading Bollywood stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann Khurrana, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra in attendance. Ekta Kapoor, directors Rohit Shetty and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari were also part of the delegation.

Post meeting, the stars posed for an epic selfie with the PM. The photo was shared on Instagram by Karan Johar, who thanked PM Modi for slashing GST rates of movie tickets and wrote, "Powerful and timely conversations can bring about change and this was one of what we hope will become a regular conversation. Meeting the Honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi today was an incredible opportunity.

As a community, there is a huge interest to contribute to nation building. There is so much that we want to do. And can do and this dialogue was towards how and what ways we can do that. When the youngest country (in demography) joins hands with the largest movie industry in the world, we hope to be a force to reckon with. Together we would love to inspire and ignite positive changes to a transformative India.

The film industry would also like to send a huge thanks for the GST reduction in movie ticket prices that was implemented recently!
Thank you so much for your time, Sir!"

Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar may not have openly admitted to their relationship, but the two have dropped major hints on social media by posting photos of each other.

On Wednesday, as Farhan Akhtar turned 45, entertainment website Bollywood Life reported that he had exchanged rings with Shibani and the couple were set to get married soon. While there has been no official confirmation on the report from either of them, Farhan sort of hinted at marriage during an event.

Farhan Akthar was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of his forthcoming production venture `Gully Boy` along with film`s actor Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, filmmaker sister Zoya Akhtar and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani on Wednesday in Mumbai.

The actor was quizzed about his next film and his relationship with Shibani. To which he replied, "I have got `The Sky is Pink` as an actor which is being directed by Shonali Bose and there is going to be very special announcement, but this is not the time and the platform to announce it. The audience will hear about it very soon and I hope that excites them," said Akhtar.

Meanwhile Shibani posted a photo with Farhan on Instagram and captioned it as, "Because he has the coolest tattoo in the world and because it’s his bday! Happy birthday my sweet grumps love you loads @faroutakhtar"

Ranveer said the movie is special for him for many reasons. "It's a coming together of too many things that are very dear to me. It has rap, hip-hop music which I loved since I was a kid and it is set in my motherland Mumbai." While sharing his experience of working with the film's cast and crew, Ranveer said: "Working with Zoya (Akhtar) was an amazing experience. She is really more than a director to me. She is my friend and confidante. She is so special to me in my life as a person more than a director. This film's producer Ritesh is like family to me. We go way back and our parents go way back. Farhan (Akhtar) is a creative force of nature who I have tremendous admiration for. I have been fielding for him to direct me since eight years now. Hopefully, he will consider me someday. I really don't know what to say about Alia (Bhatt). I don't know how she happened to us. We are lucky that we have an actor like Alia Bhatt as a part of our cinema." When Zoya was asked how she managed to work with Ranveer in the film, she said: "He is a method actor. If he has to rap for a day, then he will rap for the whole day.'' "When I was editing `Dil Dhadkne Do` in 2014, that time my editor Anand Subaya actually showed me a video of an artiste called Naezy who was like 21 years of age and he had put a song called `Aafat`. That`s the first time I saw a real and authentic rap what now is called as Gully Rap. It`s just stuck in my head and from that moment, till now, it`s just took me on a journey to make this film," says Zoya. 'Gully Boy' also features Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash and Siddhant Chaturvedi in key roles. Produced by Tiger Baby Productions and Excel Entertainment, the movie is slated to release on February 14.

The video does a fine job at introducing the characters of the trio and offers a sneak peek into the chemistry shared by them. Ranveer Singh led cop drama ‘Simmba’ is all set to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, within a week of its release. The film had an impressive start as it released in theatres on December 28, 2018. With Rs 20.72 crore collection on opening day, ‘Simmba’ is Singh’s biggest solo hit and also records highest-opening for him. His previous film that was a massive hit last year ‘Padmaavat’, managed to collect Rs 19 crore on opening day. The film made Rs 21.24 crore on Monday, taking the total to Rs 96.35 crore. As a new day begins, the film is most likely to cross the big mark. Also, there is no competition for ‘Simmba’ at the moment at the box office. Happy with the film’s response, producer Karan Johar praised the efforts of director Rohit Shetty and lead star Ranveer. He wrote, “Working with @itsrohitshetty has been one of the best experiences of my life! Have learnt so much from his process and his precision! Ranveer Singh's 'Simmba' is now all set to enter Rs 100 crore mark

It was a great year for newcomer Sara Ali Khan who bagged not one but two big-ticket films last year -- ‘Kedarnath’, with which she debuted in the Hindi film industry and ‘Simmba’ opposite Ranveer Singh.

While many thought, Sara was too lucky to get two back-to-back films that have also become commercial hits, some hinted at Sara’s backing in the industry. Rumours of papa Saif Ali Khan talking to director Rohit Shetty on Sara’s behalf also made some rounds on the internet.

Rubbishing all such rumours, Rohit Shetty revealed that Saif did not ask him for a role for Sara. In fact, it was Sara who asked him for a role in the film herself.

He said, "She came and begged me for a role in ‘Simmba’. Hearing this, I started crying. Imagine, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter begging me for a role. Saif never once asked me to take Sara for Simmba."

Rohit revealed this on the comeback show of comedian Kapil Sharma on TV.

Earlier, Sara also spoke about getting two big films and said,"This year, Santa came twice for me in the form of Kedarnath and Simmba," she had said.

The Ranveer Singh effect! Sara Ali Khan shows how her style changed post working with 'Simmba' actor

Trust Ranveer Singh to play cupid. The actor who recently married his longtime girlfriend Deepika Padukone is currently busy promoting his film 'Simmba' along with his co-star Sara Ali Khan.

The two actors were at a media event recently to promote their film where actor Kartik Aaryan was also one of the guests. Now for those coming in late, Sara Ali Khan had admitted on 'Koffee With Karan' that she has a crush on the 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' star and would want to date him.

Naturally, Ranveer took it upon himself to walk up to Kartik at the event and introduce him to Sara Ali Khan, much to her embarrassment. A video on Instagram shows Ranveer hugging and greeting Kartik and then taking to where Sara is seated and getting them formally introduced to each other. He even makes a 'heart'sign looking at the camera leaving Sara a tad red on the face.

View this post on Instagram Ranveer Singh introducing Kartik Aaryan to Sara Ali Khan.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh may have dated for 6 years before they tied the knot in November earlier this year but the two stars had always been quite discreet about their relationship. While one would see Ranveer indulging in occasional PDA on social media, Deepika always restrained from talking about the couple's relationship status.

It is only, post-wedding, that the two have started talking about their relationship. Recently in a chat show, Deepika recalled her first meeting with Ranveer at Yash Raj office many years back. "I was at YashRaj and he was there and he was flirting like it’s nobody’s business and he was dating somebody else at this point and I was smiling to myself and told him, ‘You are flirting with me.’”

Deepika and Ranveer eventually started dating in 2012 while working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'. The actress recalled the time spent at Bhansali's house prepping for the role was the most special for the couple. "Sir called us over for lunch and we were eating and apparently there was a piece of crab stuck in my tooth and he wanted to make me awkward and he said, ‘Oh, there’s a crab stuck in your mouth,’ and I said, ‘Then take it out’. That moment all three of us won’t forget,” Deepika said.

Right before their wedding, the couple attended a media event where Ranveer recalled how he had met her at a five-star hotel while he was dining with his parents. He excitedly whispered to his parents that she was sitting right behind them - “I was a huge fan of hers” - and told them that he’d introduce himself later. "My one takeaway from that meeting was ‘how can anyone look like that’," added the actor.

Ranveer recently won the best actor award for 'Padmaavat' at Star Screen Awards. While accepting his trophy, he thanked his wife and said, "I may have not got the Queen in the film(Padmaavat) but in real life, I have got my queen. Baby, I love you. In the last six years, if I have achieved anything, it is because you kept me grounded. Thank you for everything." Seated in the audience, Deepika got emotional hearing Ranveer's speech.

Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot at Lake Como on 14th and 15th November. The ceremony was an intimate one with a no-mobile-phones policy. They later hosted four receptions in India- one in Bengaluru and three in Mumbai.

Ranveer is currently gearing up for the release of his new film, 'Simmba' opposite Sara Ali Khan. The film has been directed by Rohit Shetty. Deepika, meanwhile, will start shooting for Meghna Gulzar's next in the beginning of 2019.

Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor are examples of how exes can remain friends post break up. The couple who dated almost at the beginning of their respective careers remained amicable post break up and even starred in two films together.
