Jackson realised the lockout when he couldn't interact with his smart home devices and reached out to Amazon for clarification.

Jackson promptly refuted the allegations, highlighting the fact that none of his family members were present at the time of the delivery. To gather evidence, he reviewed footage from his home's surveillance cameras, which revealed that an automated response from his Eufy doorbell had triggered, saying, "Excuse me, can I help you?" Jackson concluded that the driver, who was walking away and wearing headphones, must have misinterpreted the message.&nbsp;"My Amazon account was locked, and all my Echo devices were logged out.”

Despite submitting video evidence immediately, his account remained locked.

<h2>Questioning Amazon's response</h2>

Although Jackson expressed support for Amazon's efforts to protect delivery drivers, he raised concerns about being locked out of his account for a week during the internal investigation.

The media report citing the findings also said that racial disparity was found for every single force.&nbsp;

<h2>What else did the study find?</h2>

Citing the report commissioned by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), the data for which was collected by academics at the University of Edinburgh, the Guardian reported that black people were three times more likely to be fined for breaking COVID-19-related restrictions when compared to white people.

Reportedly, the fines were also seven times more likely to be issued in the poorest areas in England and Wales than in the richest neighbourhoods. The study was conducted between March 27, 2020, and May 31, 2021, when the police issued a total of 122,506 fines.&nbsp;

The study is said to be one of the most detailed analyses of who was fined and how fair the police were while invoking emergency powers to enforce lockdown rules which in the UK changed several times.&nbsp;

In England, the report found that the rate of fixed-penalty notice (FPN) per 10,000 people was 19.9 for white individuals as opposed to 46.1 for those belonging to an ethnic minority background. However, the ethnic disparity rate was highest for black people who were a little more than three times more likely to be issued with an FPN.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in Wales, the ethnic disparity rate was 2.8 times for people from ethnic minorities while the number remained close to the same for black people. “There was not a single force area that did not have a higher disparity rate for ethnic minority groups,” said the report’s co-author, Professor Susan McVie, as quoted by the Guardian.&nbsp;

However, the media report citing the study also noted that the highest rate of disparity was found for those above the age of 45 and not the youth belonging to the ethnic minority group who were stopped and searched by the police. Additionally, in England, men were twice as likely to be fined.&nbsp;

It is also worth noting that this study was not published despite the NPCC commissioning it. “I was surprised they did not publish it having commissioned and paid for it,” said McVie, as per the Guardian.

Earlier this year, a separate report by the London Metropolitan Police which reviewed the standards of behaviour and internal culture of the service unravelled some very disturbing assessments including key findings of institutional racism, sexism and homophobia.&nbsp;

As per the report, there are people in the Met with racist attitudes. It underscores that Black, Asian and ethnic minority officers and staff are more likely to experience racism, discrimination and bullying at their hands.&nbsp;

<h2>What did the police say about the report?</h2>

The UK-based media report quoted NPCC lead for enforcing Covid rules, the assistant chief constable Owen Weatherill, who said it is “clearly a concern” to see these disparities in the number of FPNs issued to white and black, Asian or ethnic minority people.&nbsp;

However, the data does not indicate why these disparities exist, said Weatherill, adding that each force will study the data to “assess and mitigate any risks of bias – conscious or unconscious – and to minimise disproportionate impact in the future, wherever possible.”

The Brazilian signed with La Liga club Real Madrid in 2018 and has, on multiple occasions, been subjected to racist chants including 'mono' which is Spanish for Monkey. The most recent case where the soccer player faced the racist abuse what during Real Madrid's &nbsp;0-1 loss to Valencia on Sunday.

The game was stopped for several minutes after the player complained about he behaious of crowd. He then shared a long post on Instagram, describing his ordeal and calling Spain a racist country.

Hamilton also shared the post on his Instagram with the caption "standing with you," alongside a Black fist bump emoji. The racer also said that he eventually hopes to visit and support the soccer player at a match.

<h2>No room for discrimination</h2>

Hamilton emphasized on need of doing more about the issue in sports as the 'society has no place for discrimination.' &nbsp;&nbsp;

“There is no room for discrimination in society today. Sports need to do more, we all need to continue to do more. If we see it, hear it – we need to do something about it," said the racer.

"I think it’s amazing what so many of these (athletes) that are experiencing that on the pitch are doing in terms of standing tall and standing strong," Hamilton added. "Continuing to be humble in their approach, not being reactive but being responsible when moving forward because they know lots of young kids are watching."

After an illustrious career spanning more than three decades, trailblazing aboriginal journalist Stan Grant broadcast his farewell programme on Monday and announced his retirement from Australian television screens indefinitely.

He is one of Australia's most recognised and renowned journalists, according to the ABC

But he appeared defeated&nbsp;on Monday night, visibly trembling as he signed out from his political panel show Q+A.

"To those who have abused me and my family, I would just say - if your aim was to hurt me, well, you've succeeded," he said.&nbsp;

Grant's decision to quit has rekindled heated debates in Australia regarding racism and media diversity.

Australian indigenous TV host Stan Grant's quits programme over racist abuse

After the match, Brazil and Madrid's forward Vinicius Jr. made heads turn by slamming La Liga and even labelling Spain racist after receiving racial slurs from the stands in the game&nbsp;at Valencia’s Mestalla stadium. In a press conference, he said, “I would like to express my solidarity with our Brazilian player, a poor boy who succeeded in life and is potentially becoming one of the best players in the world, certainly the best at Real Madrid. And he is attacked in every stadium he plays in. I think it is important that FIFA, the Spanish league and leagues in other countries take real action, because we cannot allow fascism and racism to dominate football stadiums.”

It will be interesting to see what actions are taken in the Spanish league to counter the racism issue. Speaking of Real Madrid, the club lost to Valencia 1-0 with Diego Lopez finding the back of the net in the 33rd minute. Real never looked at their usual best and failed to level scores.

Vinicius Jr. complained regarding the racial abuse he faced during the face-off, leading to a halt to proceedings by ten minutes, before getting into an altercation with the Valencia player. This led to his send-off during the second half of the encounter.

California's Democratic state Senator Steven Bradford has given a stark reality check to the African Americans in the state who were hoping to receive massive&nbsp;reparation&nbsp;payments.&nbsp;Bradford, who served on the&nbsp;California Reparations Task Force that recommended the state pay up to&nbsp;$1.2 million in reparations to each eligible Black resident said people should keep their 'expectations' in check.&nbsp;

Bradford said “anything’s possible if the money’s there,” but remained&nbsp;“realistic” that it could be difficult to garner enough support.&nbsp;

“I don’t want to set folks’ expectations and hopes up that they’re going to be getting, you know, seven-figure checks,” Bradford said in an interview. “That’s just not happening.”

He added that lawmakers had not even debated where the money for the reparation payment would come from.&nbsp;

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors suggested the elimination of personal debt, tax burdens and annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years to Black residents.&nbsp;

An estimated 50,000 Black people live in the city and granting reparations to even a&nbsp;tiny faction may put a heavy toll on the exchequer, the opponents argue. The city is already facing a deficit of more than $728 million, according to reports.&nbsp;

Last year, Boston City Council took a leaf out of San Franciso's book and appointed a reparations task force as well.&nbsp;

Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman who accused Emmett Till, a black teenager of whistling at her and causing&nbsp;his 1955 lynching in Mississippi passed away at 88. As per a death report filed on Thursday in the Calcasieu Parish Corner's Office, she&nbsp;died in hospice care on Tuesday night in Louisiana. Prosecutors sought charges against her for killing Till, 14, up until the year before her death. They&nbsp;failed to convince the jury that she should be put on a trial for "kidnapping and manslaughter." The Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley Institute in a statement following Bryant's death said, "We wish mercy on her soul, even as we regret that she never took responsibility for her role&nbsp;in Till's murder." Bryant's death closes the chapter of one of the most horrifying lynchings in US history.

Who was Emmett Till?

Born in 1941 near Chicago, Till&nbsp;had polio and then developed a stutter. He was 10 when he shifted to Chicago. He later was living&nbsp;with his mother's brother in the small Delta community of Money, Mississippi.&nbsp;

What happened in 1955?

On one summer day in 1955, Till went into a store in Money to buy bubblegum unaware of what was coming for him.&nbsp;

Bryant,21 then, was working alone in the shop while her husband, the shopkeeper was away, accused Till of making improper advances and harassing her while she was alone in the shop.&nbsp;

According to BBC, following Bryant's accusation, her husband Roy Bryant and brother-in-law JW Milam dragged Till from his bed at his uncle's home. They tortured him so badly that his face was unrecognisable when his corpse was recovered from the river three days later. He was even&nbsp;shot in the head and was tied to a 32kg fan.

Appealing for justice for her son, Till's mother Mamie Till Mobley insisted on keeping an open coffin for everyone to see what had been done to the little boy. Some media outlets even published photos of him that shocked the nation. Till's death sparked protests across the county where thousands of people urged&nbsp;for justice.&nbsp;

The two kidnappers were arrested over the murder but were released by an all-white jury. Later, in a magazine interview, they both admitted responsibility but said they had not done anything wrong.&nbsp;

During the trial, Bryant took the stand and testified that Till grabbed her hand and propositioned her. Years later in an interview in 2008, she said that part is not true. This sparked the Department of Justice to re-investigate the case but when asked she denied that she had lied during the trial.

The woman was never taken into custody over the events that led to the lynching of the young boy.&nbsp;

According to an unpublished memoir obtained by the Associated Press, Bryant wrote that she did not know what would happen to Till when she made her accusation.

On the other hand,&nbsp;Mizrahi girls are depicted as wild, boisterous, and improper.

It was seen in the video that each girl's name lights on the screen as she passes by. Her last name is scratched out and Mizrahi names are placed there.&nbsp;

The students in the video are 12th graders. There is also a staff member seen in the video who made an appearance at one point.

The video soon gained traction and received widespread condemnation with people terming its content as racist. When the opposing voices grew stronger, the school decided to take down the video from social media platform.

"This is a video that never should have been made, and it was an accident that happened under our watch," the school's management said in a statement.

"The school apologises and is sorry for the content even though it was made by the students as satire and a parody as part of Purim events. Anyone who was exposed to the school's activity throughout the years knows that this doesn't reflect the schools at all."

The students defended themselves saying that it was only recorded in good faith and meant no harm.&nbsp;

"In light of the outrage that the video we uploaded during Adar caused, we the 12th graders want to clear up a few things," they said in a statement. "The video was produced in a purely humorous way and refers to the school's inside jokes."

Education Minister Yoav Kisch also condemned the video. "I watched the video made by the school's students in shock."

"I'm even more surprised and horrified that no one in the system vetoed it. The matter is being investigated in the Education Ministry, and our message is clear: There is zero tolerance for racism."

This incident comes weeks after a group of Ethiopian-Israeli schoolgirls filmed their teachers who were making fun of them in an online group chat while on a field trip.&nbsp;

The politician has been identified as Pembrokeshire County councillor Andrew Edwards who could also be heard saying that Black people were of 'lower class' than whites while refusing to deny the claims. "Nothing wrong with the skin colour at all. I think all white men should have a Black man as a slave or Black woman as a slave, you know," said Edwards in the audio recording that appeared online. "There's nothing wrong with skin colour, it's just that they're lower class than us white people," he added. It is not yet known where did the 16-second recording clip emerge but it was political opponents who identified Edwards' voice in it. The Tories have confirmed they are investigating the allegations and that Edwards had not yet been suspended from the party or his position. Edwards, who represents the Haverfordwest Prendergast ward added that he had referred the matter to a watchdog and could not comment further. "It is now in the hands of legal experts and the ombudsman. It would be unfair on the process for me to comment." Meanwhile, Pembrokeshire council also released a statement saying, "We are aware of an allegation being made and have referred the matter to the ombudsman. It would be inappropriate to comment further." Di Clements, the Conservative group leader in the council informed that Edwards had left the party group on the council on Tuesday. The Dallas-based IT company Arthur Grand Technologies posted a job offer for a business analyst in its Salesforce and insurance claims team on the job portal Indeed. The company had a peculiar demand for the desired candidates and that they needed to be 'white'.&nbsp;

''Only born US Citizens (White) who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TX [Don't share with candidates]," read the job vacancy posted. The racial specification was not meant to be shared as suggested by the parenthetic note. However, one of the employees fumbled and posted the entire message online.&nbsp;

Screenshots of the job post instantly went viral on social media platforms and since then, the company has come under heavy fire for discriminating against applicants based on their colour and ethnicity, even in 2023.&nbsp;

One netizen took note of the post and tweeted Warren Buffett whose company Berkshire Hathaway apparently uses the services of Arthur Grand Technologies. &nbsp;

After the controversy snowballed, the company came out with a statement on LinkedIn&nbsp;saying a junior recruiter had erred in the job and posted the offending vacancy&nbsp;offer.&nbsp;

''At Arthur Grand, we do not condone or engage in any type of discrimination based of race, colour or religion," read the statement. 
 
"We conducted an internal investigation and discovered that a new junior recruiter at our firm was responsible for the offending job post. We have taken immediate action and terminated their employment for violating our policy."&nbsp;

The company provided another update later saying there was no job vacancy and that the 'former employee' took an "existing posting and added discriminatory language".&nbsp;&nbsp;

The racial specification was not meant to be shared as suggested by the parenthetic note. However, one of the employees fumbled and posted the entire message online. Screenshots of the job post instantly went viral on social media platforms and since then, the company has come under heavy fire for discriminating against applicants based on their colour and ethnicity, even in 2023. Around 110 female children and teenagers had to endure invasive strip-search between 2017 and 2022, exposing their private parts. And of those, around 47 per cent were Black females, according to a data analysed by Liberty Investigates.

The data was obtained by the campaign group, which exposes hidden human rights abuses, obtained through the freedom of information request.

The group claimed that the figures are disproportionate and the real figures might be higher than the one shared by the department.

The report came after a similar finding by the children’s commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza, discovered that Black children were 11 times more likely to be strip-searched than the white kids.

But the data provided by the Liberty Investigates goes much more beyond the one shared by the children’s commissioner.

The report distinguishes between strip-searches which are less invasive, and those where the person’s intimate parts are exposed.

Across both types of strip-search for female children and teens up to the age of 19, the data found that 45 per cent of people searched were Black.

“Black female children are 2.7 times more likely than their white counterparts to be subjected by the Met Police to the most invasive form of strip-search, new figures suggest.”

Reacting to the report, a Metropolitan police spokesperson told Guardian, “We welcome the report by Dame Rachel de Souza, children’s commissioner, and were pleased to have played a part in her research. We fully acknowledge that we have overused this type of search.

“We have been making significant efforts to ensure the use of this tactic is absolutely appropriate in all circumstances and that our approach puts the child at the heart of decision making, with safeguarding of that child the absolute priority. This has resulted in a considerable reduction in the number of searches being carried out.”

The CDC said its panel "was not satisfied on the balance of probabilities" that&nbsp;Vaughan&nbsp;said the words "at the time and in the specific circumstances alleged".

The panel added its findings "do not in any way undermine the wider assertions" made by Rafiq. Vaughan, who played for Yorkshire between 1993 and 2009, was one of seven individuals charged by the ECB with using racist or discriminatory language. He was the only defendant who participated in the CDC hearing.

At times, this process has brought me to the brink of falling out of love with cricket."

The panel upheld some charges against former Yorkshire players Tim Bresnan, John Blain, Matthew Hoggard, Andrew Gale and Richard Pyrah, all of whom withdrew from the proceedings. A London Metropolitan police report which reviewed the standards of behaviour and internal culture of the service has unravelled some very disturbing assessments including key findings of institutional racism, sexism and homophobia.&nbsp;

Baroness Casey was appointed in October 2021 to look into the Met internal misconduct system.&nbsp;

This report is an effort to review the Met police after the horrific incident when two years ago in March 2021, one of the department's officer Sarah Everard was abducted, raped and murdered by a serving Metropolitan Police Officer, who was later sentenced to whole life imprisonment for his crime.&nbsp;

As per the report, there are people in the Met with racist attitudes. It underscores that Black, Asian and ethnic minority officers and staff are more likely to experience racism, discrimination and bullying at their hands.&nbsp;

"Discrimination is often ignored, and complaints are likely to be turned against Black, Asian and ethnic minority officers. Many do not think it is worth reporting. Black officers are 81% more likely to be in the misconduct system than their White counterparts. The organisation has failed to significantly improve the recruitment and retention of Black officers at all levels. This is particularly true of Black and ethnic minority women," the report stated.&nbsp;

Casey review also pointed out that Black Londoners in particular remain over-policed and are more likely 
to be stopped and searched, handcuffed, batoned and Tasered, are overrepresented in many serious crimes.&nbsp;

It adds that when Black Londoners are victims of crime, they are less satisfied with the service they receive than other Londoners.&nbsp;

The Met police assessment was done by engaging current and former Met personnel and other stakeholders and reviewing relevant Met internal policies. Moreover, it also included polling over 1,200 Londoners, conducting surveys of 6,751 current and former personnel and listening to the voices of those who have faced adverse consequences inside the service.&nbsp;

The review report touches upon a series of incidents and scandals involving the Met police. It underlines that the public confidence in Met police over the last few years has declined and in some communities it has hit rock bottom.

Black and Mixed ethnic groups have consistently lower trust and confidence in the Met, frequently scoring around 10-20% lower than average on trust and belief in fairness. LGBT+ community also has low trust in the police.&nbsp;

It concludes that the Met has become disconnected from Londoners and their consent is largely assumed. "Londoners’ voices are missing from London policing," the report states.&nbsp;
