The people living in Newburyport have asked the City Council to replace the state flag and seal of Massachusetts, stating that the imagery used promotes the racist history of the state, according to a Fox News report.

As reported by Newburyport Daily News, a resolution was sent to the council on February 27 that asked them to support the Special Commission Relative to the Seal and Motto of the Commonwealth's work.

The commission had recommended that the flag and seal must be replaced to reflect Massachusetts' diverse residents. The resolution was referred on the same day to the General Government Committee in a 9-2 vote.

The resolution was pushed by Marianna Vesey and Linda Lu Burciaga, residents of Newburyport, who claim that the change has already been adopted by 55 other municipalities.

Vesey and Burciaga added that the resolution is being considered by dozens of other municipalities.

Vesey stated that the state seal appears to support the idea that white people are "in charge of this world and that “we have to subdue the Native American people" through a "colonising and violent depiction".

"One of the reasons that we can ignore this so easily is that our White supremacy culture has really allowed for the disappearance of the Native American world. We’re really trying to say that they are not gone. They are here among us, and we really need to not only recognise that but honour it," she stated.

Burciaga, meanwhile, said that the state flag and seal appear "problematic”. He added that the seal and the flag depict a colonial sword being grasped by a white hand over the head of a Native American person.

"His severed head was impaled on a pike and displayed in Plymouth for more than 20 years as a war trophy. That’s just one part of the depiction,” he added.

The once-popular comic strip that was launched in 1989 will no longer be carried by multiple media outlets, in light of these remarks, the newspapers announced in statements on Friday and Saturday. Some of the newspapers include The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and so on.&nbsp;

Additionally,&nbsp;distributor Andrews McMeel Universal, on Sunday (February 26) also announced that they are "severing" ties with Adams over his recent comments. In a joint statement, company&nbsp;Chairman Hugh Andrews and CEO and President Andy Sareyan said while the company values free speech but it will "never support any commentary rooted in discrimination or hate". It added, "Recent comments by Scott Adams regarding race and race relations do not align with our core values as a company".&nbsp;

“If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people - according to this poll, not according to me, according to this poll - that’s a hate group”, said the creator on his Youtube show ‘Real Coffee with Scott Adams’, on Wednesday.&nbsp;

He added, “I don’t want to have anything to do with them…And I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to White people is to get the hell away from Black people, just get the f**k away”.&nbsp;

The video began with Adams talking about Republican Vivek Ramaswamy’s presidential bid and minutes later, citing the results of a recent public opinion poll, conducted by Rasmussen Reports, which is said to be a conservative firm. The group reportedly surveyed thousands of Americans via telephone and online with the question, “Do you agree or disagree with this statement, ‘It's OK to be white’?”&nbsp;

According to the poll, 53 per cent of Black Americans agreed with the statement, “It’s OK to be White.” However, it has been noted that the phrase “It's OK to be white” has been used on right-wing websites and speeches which the Anti-Defamation League has also denounced as a hate chant. The organisation has also noted that the phrase emerged on the infamous message board 4chan six years ago as a trolling campaign which has a history in the white supremacist movement.

A UK-based whistleblower has revealed children seeking asylum being subjected to racial abuse and assault at a Home Office-run hotel, calling on the British government to act immediately, reports the Guardian newspaper.&nbsp;According to reports, the whistleblower, who worked at the hotel in Brighton for over a year, scores of children who arrived in the UK without parents or a carer suffered “emotional abuse” and were later driven onto the streets and joined criminal gangs.

The revelation comes a week after an investigation by the Observer newspaper revealed that dozens of youngsters were kidnapped by gangs from the same hotel, prompting calls for a public inquiry.&nbsp;The report&nbsp;said that more than 200 children are missing from the hotels managed by the Home Office.

A week after the report, another whistleblower came forward and claimed that some more children in the Brighton hotel are being threatened.

“I heard staff threatening to throw children out of the window and joking about them going missing,” the whistleblower told the&nbsp;Observer.

He further said that despite flagging the inappropriate staff behaviour, no action was taken by the Brighton hotel, one of seven run by the Home Office.

“There was a lot of xenophobic stuff, like: ‘Fuck off back to your country.’ Somebody heard one senior staff member calling a child a ‘fucking terrorist’.”

He added that staff would regularly talk about children being abducted from nearby streets and that the targeting of youngsters was common knowledge.

The Sussex police have been apprised of the matter and have started investigating a potential trafficking case after three children got into a car outside the Brighton hotel.

According to reports, the car was driven towards London before police intercepted it. However, Home Office sources maintained they have no evidence of children being kidnapped, reports Guardian.

Responding to these reports, a Home Office spokesperson denied that the children are being kidnapped.

“We have not received any complaints in relation to these claims. The wellbeing of children in our care is an absolute priority. Robust safeguards are in place to ensure they are safe and supported as we seek urgent placements with a local authority. When issues do arise, we take complaints extremely seriously and they are acted upon quickly.”

“In October, the independent immigration watchdog found young people in hotel accommodation unanimously reported feeling safe, happy and treated with respect,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

A UK-based charity organisation led by a Black woman working in the field of domestic abuse has&nbsp;ceased its operations over safety concerns after she spoke out against mistreatment during an event at Buckingham Palace.&nbsp;Founder of Sistah Space organisation, Ngozi Fulani claimed that she “felt she was being interrogated” by Lady Susan Hussey when she was repeatedly asked where she was “really” from, seeming to know her background and nationality.

Fulani has said she faced online abuse after speaking out against her treatment by Lady Susan Hussey.

Lady Hussey, the 83-year-old godmother of Prince William and the late Queen's lady-in-waiting, had surrendered her honorary role within the Royal Household after the matter came to public attention.

On its Instagram page, Sistah Space, which supports women of African and Caribbean heritage who have been affected by domestic and sexual abuse, said: "Thank you for the continued support and messages.

"Unfortunately, recent events meant that we were forced to temporarily cease many of our operations to ensure the safety of our service users and our team."

"We are overwhelmed by the amount of support and encouragement and look forward to fully reinstating our services as soon as safely possible."

As per reports, Lady Hussey is even ready to make a personal apology to the organisation’s founder.

Earlier, Buckingham Palace in a statement condemned the "unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments" and said that all staff were "being reminded of the diversity and inclusivity policies which they are required to uphold at all times".

A spokesperson for Prince William previously said "racism has no place in our society. The comments were unacceptable, and it is right that the individual has stepped aside with immediate effect."

It has become clearer over time that human genetic and physiological variation maps poorly onto the construct of racial categories," it argues against structural racism in global health.&nbsp;

As per a Guardian report, in a brochure on its website the company advertised a range of features like “optional Demographic Profiling Facial analysis algorithms”, including “gender, race/ethnicity, age” profiling. This was allegedly&nbsp;in collaboration with UK startup FaiceTech.

Reportedly, the Hikvision website also cited a second, Italian-based company offering racial profiling in a post that has since been removed.

Guardian reports that the racial profiling posts were removed following an inquiry by the publication and the company said that the technology was never even sold in the UK.

The government must act now to ban this rights-abusing technology."

She also said that such "intrusive surveillance capabilities" have no place in a democracy.

On Thursday, a member of the Buckingham Palace household resigned after "unacceptable" comments were made at a reception held by Queen Consort Camilla. After the incident, an official statement was released by Buckingham Palace in which they said that they have taken the incident seriously and had investigated it to get the full details. The statement also said that they are inviting Fulani to discuss the matter with them. "In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes",&nbsp;the statement read expressing an apology to Ms. Fulani.&nbsp;

Though Sunak declined to comment directly on the incident but affirmed that he too has faced racism growing up in Britain. Talking to the media, Sunak said, "The racism I experienced as a kid and a young person I don't think would happen today because our country's made incredible progress in tackling racism. But the job is never done and that's why whenever we see it we must confront it and it's right that we continually learn the lessons and move to a better future". In UK, horrifying details of random racism, misogyny and bullying in the country's largest firefighting and rescue organization has come in the light. In an independent report found after a review of the London fire brigade female firefighters, they report that they have been groped, beaten and had their helmets filled with urine.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) has been termed 'institutionally misogynist' and 'racist' after a review conducted into the working culture of the force revealed a grim picture.&nbsp;

Nazir Afzal, the former chief Crown prosecutor for north-west England conducted the review and found that&nbsp;'toxic culture' festered&nbsp;within the LFB which gave rise to bullying and abuse.&nbsp;

"We've heard example after example about women who were harassed or sexually assaulted - constant sexual taunting to the point that I am now saying that the London Fire Brigade is institutionally misogynist," Afzal was quoted as saying by BBC.&nbsp;

The report clearly showed that people of colour coming from ethnically diverse backgrounds were more often than not, the target of racial abuse and bullying. They&nbsp;were also less likely to be promoted and be unrepresented at the senior levels.

A Muslim firefighter in the brigade was troubled and bullied to the extent that he had to be admitted to a hospital. He has&nbsp;since been diagnosed with Post-Trauma Stress Disorder (PTSD) and has had suicidal thoughts.

According to the review, the said Muslim man was ridiculed for his Indian accent. On different occasions, a piece of Bacon and a slice of pork was put in the victim's sandwich and pocket respectively.&nbsp;

The women workers in the Brigade have not been untouched by the institutionalised ill behaviour of the firefighting men either.&nbsp;

LFB's first female commissioner Dany Cotton told the researchers that when she started her campaign to fight sexism five years ago, she received death threats from her own colleagues with demands that she be sacked.&nbsp;

Women are routinely 'sexually taunted' in the brigade with one receiving video calls from a man who exposed his nether regions to her.&nbsp;

"I sat with a very senior female officer who said to me, through tears, that whenever she goes through a dangerous incident, she's always thinking: 'Will the men have my back? Will the men around me protect me given how they have treated me back at the station?" added&nbsp;Afzal.&nbsp;

After the findings of the independent review were put out, LFB's Commissioner Andy Roe said there will be consequences from now on for the actions in the brigade.&nbsp;

"From today it will be completely clear to all staff what behaviour isn't acceptable and what the consequences will be."

Meanwhile, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said,&nbsp;"The findings of Nazir Afzal OBE's review must be nothing short of a watershed moment for the London Fire Brigade. The details published today of institutional misogyny, racism and discrimination are abhorrent."

Grégoire de Fournas, the parliamentary representative from the National Rally (RN) party, was censured by the speaker of the National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, after he interrupted Carlos Martens Bilongo, a representative from the far-left party France Unbowed (LFI).

The incident happened when Bilongo was questioning the French government about a request by the SOS Méditerranée non-governmental organisation for help in finding a port for 234 migrants rescued at sea in recent days.

After de Fournas made the remark, Speaker Yael Braun-Pivet demanded to know who had spoken. Then, as MPs chanted "Out! Out! Out!", she suspended the session, saying, "This is not possible”, reports BBC.

The Parliament would be convened again on Friday to decide "necessary sanction" against de Fournas.

Bilongo later condemned his fellow lawmaker’s remarks while speaking to reporters, saying, “Today, some people once again put my skin colour at the centre of a debate. I’m born in France and I am a French lawmaker and I didn’t think that today I will be insulted [like this] at the National Assembly.”
