The new claims in Harry’s case follow allegations his lawyer raised Wednesday in the High Court that implicated Murdoch for taking part in the cover-up of unlawful information gathering at his newspapers or that he had “at the very least turned a blind eye” to it.

Harry is one of 45 claimants, including actor Hugh Grant and filmmaker Guy Ritchie, alleging that between 1994 and 2016 News Group journalists violated their privacy through widespread unlawful activity that included intercepting voicemails, tapping phones, bugging cars and using deception to access confidential information.

Attorney Roger Mallalieu for Mirror Group argued that it should only have to pay legal fees for the portions of the claims it lost. It said Sanderson and Wightman should pay MGN’s costs for losing their cases. He argued that Turner should only receive costs up to the point that Mirror offered a settlement that would have exceeded what he was awarded at trial and he should pay their costs after that point.

Justice Timothy Fancourt indicated he would rule at a later date.

The fees being sought were mainly for the broader claim brought against Mirror by all the claimants and not for the legal costs of preparing for and presenting Harry’s specific cases because his claims have not been fully resolved.

Fancourt found that Mirror used unlawful information gathering in 15 of the 33 newspaper articles about Harry that were examined at trial. Those articles were selected as a representative sample from among nearly 150 articles that he said invaded his privacy.

Sherborne asked that a trial be scheduled to take up the remaining 115 articles. Mirror indicated in court papers that it has made a settlement offer to Harry that could not be disclosed.

Once those claims are resolved, Harry will be able to seek additional lawyers’ fees.

Phone hacking by British newspapers dates back more than two decades to a time when unethical journalists used an unsophisticated method of phoning the numbers of royals, celebrities, politicians and sports stars and, when prompted to leave a message, punched in default passcodes to eavesdrop on voicemails.

Earlier this month, Harry's legal team challenged the decision and requested a judge at a hearing to allow the Duke to bring a case over the decisions taken by the Home Office and the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures&nbsp;aka&nbsp;Ravec.

But, the Home Office opposed Harry's claim&nbsp;and said that Ravec feels it's "not appropriate" for wealthy people to "buy" protective security from the police since they have decided that "the public interest does not warrant" someone wealthy or prominent receiving protection on a publicly funded basis.

Lawyers for the Metropolitan Police meanwhile stated that&nbsp;Ravec had been "reasonable" in finding "it is wrong for a policing body to place officers in harm's way upon payment of a fee by a private individual".

On the other hand, the Duke's lawyers feel that Ravec's decision is inconsistent with the 1996 Police Act which allows the chief officer of the police&nbsp;to provide special police services "subject to payments".

Shaheed Fatima KC, Harry's advocate, said that the argument relied on by Ravec could not be reconciled with the fact that parliament had expressly allowed for payment for such services.

Fatima told the court, "Ravec had exceeded its authority, its power because it doesn’t have the power to make this decision in the first place."

A high-stakes legal showdown between Daily Mail publisher, Associated Newspapers, and seven prominent individuals, Doreen Lawrence, Elton John, David Furnish, Prince Harry, Liz Hurley, Sadie Frost and Simon Hughes, commenced on Monday. The high-octane case against the media outlet, which was filed last year, was heard at London's High Court for the first time and both Prince Harry and Elton John were present in court for the proceedings.&nbsp;

The explosive lawsuit alleges that Associated Newspapers was responsible for "abhorrent criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy" in its efforts to obtain dirt on high-profile figures.

The claimants have alleged that Associated Newspapers, one of Britain's biggest newspaper publishers who run Daily Mail and the Mail, is responsible for unlawful information gathering over a period of 25 years between 1993 and 2018.&nbsp;They have been accused of placing listening devices in victims' homes and cars, bugging their phone calls, and paying police officials for information.

In the lawsuit, the claimants'&nbsp;lawyers have also alleged that the publisher tasked private investigators to unlawfully obtain information about them and "even commissioned breaking and entry into their private properties".

The publisher, however,&nbsp;strongly denies all the allegations, arguing that the individuals have waited "too long" to start legal proceedings.&nbsp;When the lawsuit was filed, the publisher said that the claims are "preposterous smears"&nbsp;and that it "utterly and unambiguously refuted"&nbsp;them.

Speaking to Reuters,&nbsp;a spokesperson for Associated Newspapers&nbsp;said on Monday, "While Mail's admiration for [Doreen] Lawrence remains undimmed, we are profoundly saddened that she has been persuaded to bring this case."

The spokesperson&nbsp;added, "The Mail remains hugely proud of its pivotal role in campaigning for justice for Stephen Lawrence. Its famous 'Murderers'&nbsp;front page triggered the Macpherson report."

For those unaware,&nbsp;Doreen Lawrence, one of the most notable claimants in the lawsuit, is the mother of the Black teenager, Stephen Lawrence, who was murdered in a 1993 racist attack. The Daily Mail's coverage of&nbsp;Stephen's horrific murder has been held up as an example of newspaper journalism at its best. Their coverage helped the&nbsp;Lawrence family&nbsp;bring Stephen's killers to justice.

In the statement, the spokesperson also highlighted how one of the private investigators cited by Doreen has already provided a sworn statement mentioning that he never carried out any illegal work for the Daily Mail or Mail.

What're the allegations?

Although the cases of the seven claimants are being dealt with collectively, each has made&nbsp;distinct allegations of illegal behaviour against&nbsp;the publisher.

Doreen Lawrence, who had long been seen as an ally of the Daily Mail and its former editor Paul Dacre, has made some damning allegations against the Daily Mail. She now alleges that the news agency had asked private investigators to dig dirt on her while the paper was publicly campaigning to bring her son's killers to justice.

Lawrence further alleges that Daily Mail reporters had instructed private investigators to conduct an illegal interception of her voicemail messages, tapping of her landline, "blagging" of personal records, the monitoring of her bank accounts and phone bills, covert electronic surveillance and corrupt payments to serving Metropolitan police officers working on the murder investigations.

She has also identified four "unlawful articles", which she claims could not&nbsp;have been published without "the direct misuse or exploitation of the information unlawfully or illegally obtained". The acts identified in the lawsuit "represent only a fraction of the entirety of the separate unlawful acts committed in relation to her and her associates", according to Doreen.&nbsp;

The lawsuit stated, "The claimant [Doreen] feels anger, shock and upset, upon learning that the Daily Mail targeted her through the unlawful acts and exploited her and her son's murder through the unlawful articles, all of which was deliberately concealed from her both at the time and subsequently. Most of all, however, she feels a deep sense of betrayal. She finds it hard to believe the level of duplicity and manipulation that was clearly at play, knowing now as she does that the Daily Mail’s outward support for her fight to bring Stephen’s killers to justice was hollow, and worse, entirely false."

"The claimant now sees that the Daily Mail’s true interests were about self-promotion and using her and her son’s murder as a means to generate ‘exclusive’ headlines, sell newspapers and to profit. The claimant cannot think of any act or conduct lower than stealing and exploiting information from a mother who buried her son for this reason. She feels used and violated, and like she has been taken for a fool," it further stated.

Prince Harry, in the explosive lawsuit, has&nbsp;alleged that the published&nbsp;illegally obtained material&nbsp;for a number of articles on his personal life, including details of his relationship with his&nbsp;ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy, Natalie Pinkham and Cressida Bonas. In the lawsuit, the claimants' lawyers have also alleged that the publisher tasked private investigators to unlawfully obtain information about them and "even commissioned breaking and entry into their private properties". The publisher, however, strongly denies all the allegations, arguing that the individuals have waited "too long" to start legal proceedings. When the lawsuit was filed, the publisher said that the claims are "preposterous smears" and that it "utterly and unambiguously refuted" them. Associated Newspapers also stated in a recent interview that the claimants are mostly relying on the material provided by the Mail on a confidential basis to the Leveson inquiry into the British media industry. For those unaware, Doreen Lawrence, one of the most notable claimants in the lawsuit, is the mother of the Black teenager, Stephen Lawrence, who was murdered in a 1993 racist attack. The Daily Mail's coverage of Stephen's horrific murder has been held up as an example of newspaper journalism at its best. Their coverage helped the Lawrence family bring Stephen's killers to justice. In the statement, the spokesperson also highlighted how one of the private investigators cited by Doreen has already provided a sworn statement mentioning that he never carried out any illegal work for the Daily Mail or Mail. Although the cases of the seven claimants are being dealt with collectively, each has made distinct allegations of illegal behaviour against the publisher. Doreen Lawrence, who had long been seen as an ally of the Daily Mail and its former editor Paul Dacre, has made some damning allegations against the Daily Mail. She now alleges that the news agency had asked private investigators to dig dirt on her while the paper was publicly campaigning to bring her son's killers to justice. Lawrence further alleges that Daily Mail reporters had instructed private investigators to conduct an illegal interception of her voicemail messages, tapping of her landline, "blagging" of personal records, the monitoring of her bank accounts and phone bills, covert electronic surveillance and corrupt payments to serving Metropolitan police officers working on the murder investigations. She has also identified four "unlawful articles", which she claims could not have been published without "the direct misuse or exploitation of the information unlawfully or illegally obtained". The acts identified in the lawsuit "represent only a fraction of the entirety of the separate unlawful acts committed in relation to her and her associates", according to Doreen. The lawsuit stated, "The claimant [Doreen] feels anger, shock and upset, upon learning that the Daily Mail targeted her through the unlawful acts and exploited her and her son's murder through the unlawful articles, all of which was deliberately concealed from her both at the time and subsequently. Most of all, however, she feels a deep sense of betrayal. She finds it hard to believe the level of duplicity and manipulation that was clearly at play, knowing now as she does that the Daily Mail’s outward support for her fight to bring Stephen’s killers to justice was hollow, and worse, entirely false." The claimant cannot think of any act or conduct lower than stealing and exploiting information from a mother who buried her son for this reason. She feels used and violated, and like she has been taken for a fool," it further stated. Prince Harry, in the explosive lawsuit, has alleged that the published illegally obtained material for a number of articles on his personal life, including details of his relationship with his ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy, Natalie Pinkham and Cressida Bonas. He also accused the publisher of obtaining details of discussions between him and his brother Prince William about how to deal with the release of deathbed images of their mother, Princess Diana. Harry says that the unlawful activity used to obtain these stories "largely deprived him of important aspects of his teenage years". He says he lost friends and everyone in his life became a "suspect". He adds that the stories were presented in a manner that led him to believe that those close to him were leaking the information to the publisher, rather than the alleged use of illegal reporting tactics. The Duke of Sussex also claims that the publisher constantly released information related to his private travel plans, which "caused a significant security risk" and amounted to a "major betrayal" of the promises made by the British media to improve its conduct after Princess Diana's death in 1997. Harry feels that even though the publication calls itself a "beacon of truth and integrity", the company "widely and habitually carried out or commissioned illegal or unlawful information gathering activities" to report on some of the most intimate moments of his life. Associated Newspapers wants the cases to be thrown out on the basis that they were brought too late. Now, it is up to the judge to determine whether the case will advance or be thrown out as Associated Papers has motioned for. Monday was the first in four days of pre-trial hearings, which are expected to conclude on Thursday. The presence of Prince Harry and Elton John in the courtroom, which interestingly was done entirely on their own volition and not legally required, has fueled major media coverage, turning millions of eyeballs on the preliminary hearing. A spokesperson for Prince Harry spoke to Reuters and revealed that the Duke of Sussex wanted to be present for the hearing to signal public support for the case. It's currently unclear whether this case will result in profound consequences or not. But if it does go to trial, it is safe to say that it will grab global attention. When asked if his comments could be seen as an act of burning bridges between him and his family, Harry replied, "Well! They've shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile. And I'm not sure how honesty is burning bridges. You know, silence only allows the abuser to abuse."

The Duke of Sussex also told ITV that he cried only once after his mother Princess Diana’s death and that he&nbsp;feels guilty for not showing his emotions when he and Prince William greeted crowds of mourners outside Kensington Palace. In the book, Harry blames his family’s stiff-upper-lip ethos, saying he had "learned too well.. the family maxim that crying is not an option".

In the ghostwritten memoir, Harry, 38, describes the couple’s acrimonious split from the royal family in early 2020, after their request for a part-time royal role was rejected.

Harry contrasts the withdrawal of the couple’s taxpayer-funded security with the case of his uncle, Prince Andrew, who was removed as a working royal over his friendship with the U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Last year, Andrew settled a lawsuit from a woman who accused him of sexually abusing her while she travelled with financier Epstein when she was 17. Andrew paid an undisclosed sum as part of the settlement but didn’t admit wrongdoing.

Harry alleges that no one considered removing Andrew’s security despite the "shameful scandal".

The TV interviews are just two of several given by Harry that are set to heap more pressure on the royal family. He is also appearing on 'Good Morning America' and 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert'.

Veteran British journalist Jonathan Dimbleby, a biographer and friend of King Charles III, said Saturday that Harry’s revelations were the type "that you’d expect … from a sort of B-list celebrity",&nbsp;and that the king would be pained and frustrated by them.

While Harry said that he hadn’t spoken with his father or brother in a while, he hopes to find peace with them. He told ITV that he wants reconciliation with the royal family, but "the ball is in their court".&nbsp;Royal officials, however, haven’t commented on any of the allegations, though allies have pushed back on the claims, largely anonymously.

He further accused his stepmother of leaking private conversations and "trading information" with the media&nbsp;in an attempt to ignite positive stories about herself. She once&nbsp;sensationally suggested that her "connections" with the press would end up with "people or bodies left in the street".

Harry thinks that Camilla's desire to "be on the front page,&nbsp;have positive stories written about her" comes from the British royal family's belief that positive media coverage "improves your reputation or increases the chances of you being accepted as monarch by the public".

Prince Harry is in New York to deliver a keynote speech at the United Nations headquarters on the occasion of Nelson Mandela International Day on Monday. In his speech, he revealed that he realised Meghan Markle was his "soulmate" during one of their trips to Africa.

According to Page Six, Prince Harry said, "Since I first visited Africa as a 13-year-old boy, I`ve always found hope on the continent," he shared, calling it his "lifeline" where he`s "found peace and healing time and time again."

He added, "It`s where I felt closest to my mother and sought solace after she died," he went on, "and where I knew I`d found a soulmate in my wife."

Harry and Meghan visited Africa twice during their courtship and once after they were married. According to Page Six, the couple first travelled to Botswana shortly after they began dating in July 2016 and returned the following August to celebrate Meghan`s 36th birthday.

In April 2019, Harry and Meghan shared a photo from their second trip to Botswana in which they were putting a satellite collar on a bull elephant to help conservationists track the animal`s critical migratory patterns and protect it from poachers.

The couple married in May 2018 at London`s St. George`s Chapel at Windsor Castle in a lavish ceremony attended by royals and celebrities alike. The family of three embarked on a 10-day tour of Africa the following September, less than five months after Meghan gave birth to the couple`s first child, son Archie.

Six former soldiers who are walking from Wales to London in a trek organised by the Walking with the Wounded charity (a substitute for their original plan of walking across the Omani desert in the Middle East that was spoiled due to the pandemic), were pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call from Prince Harry himself.&nbsp;

The soldiers received a call on Thursday from the Duke of Sussex, who serves as expedition patron for Walking with the Wounded: the organisation they are doing the good deed for.&nbsp;
