Raphael Varane announced on Tuesday (May 14) he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires following a three-year spell at Old Trafford. The former France defender, 31, arrived at the club from Real Madrid in 2021 for an initial fee of about £34 million ($43 million) and has made 93 appearances, scoring twice. He was part of the team that won the club's first trophy in six years, the 2023 Carabao Cup. But United have endured a nightmare season, languishing in eighth place in the Premier League with 14 defeats and unlikely to qualify for Europe. Varane, whose United career has been disrupted by injuries, has not played since a 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on April 4 but hopes to be available again before the end of the campaign. "To you guys, supporters of Manchester United it's been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt," Varane said on social media. "The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing." "I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents." The 2018 World Cup winner added: "Despite the fact we had a difficult season, I'm very positive for the future. The new owners (United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe) are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy." United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful Varane can go out by playing a part in winning another trophy in the FA Cup final later this month. Also read | England manager Gareth Southgate provides update on replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United 'We plan for him' Newcastle visit Old Trafford on Wednesday before United travel to Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday. "We plan [for] him," said Ten Hag on Tuesday. "Definitely for the last games. Not tomorrow but we hope for Sunday and then, of course, for the last game (the FA Cup final)." United issued a statement saying Varane had confirmed his exit, saying he had brought a "great deal of class and experience to the team". "It is unflappable work at the heart of the defence that Rapha is most recognised for, as he has shown his undoubted quality since joining the club," the club added. Varane is one of the most decorated defenders of his generation, winning four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles during a 10-year spell at Madrid. He was also central to France's 2018 World Cup win and a run to the 2022 World Cup final. However, he retired from international football at just 29, citing the extreme physical and mental pressures put upon top players. "The very highest level is like a washing machine, you play all the time and you never stop," he told French TV station Canal+. "We have overloaded schedules and play non-stop. Right now, I feel like I'm suffocating and that the player is gobbling up the man." Varane has also spoken out about concerns regarding the impact concussions suffered by players could have in later life.

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol slammed Mohamed Salah after his underwhelming display in Liverpool's 3-3 stalemate versus Aston Villa in their away game in the Premier League on Monday (May 13). Nicol opined that Salah was 'invisible' for majority part of the game as he remained ineffective. However, he was quick to point out to the fans how good he has been over the years for the Merseyside club.&nbsp;

Talking about the clash, Liverpool took a 1-0 lead soon courtesy of an own-goal from Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in the second minute. While the home side levelled scores soon, Liverpool went 3-1 ahead in 48 minutes with one goal apiece from Cody Gakpo and Jarell Quansah. Nonetheless, the Jurgen Klopp's side failed to win with two late strikes from Villa substitute Jhon Duran.&nbsp;

Commenting on Salah's ordinary run, Nicol said, as quoted by HTC quote, "Kind of typical of his recent performances. No, (it’s not a compliment). He was pretty invisible. It’s just unfortunate that right now we are looking at him in a light that, considering how great for how long he’s been, maybe it’s a little unfair. It kind of goes along with the rhetoric of the end of the season that has been really poor from Liverpool."

He added, "So, it’s very difficult to be positive, particularly on Salah because he hasn’t done anything recently to help Liverpool. But we shouldn’t really forget how great he has been over such a long period of time."

Salah has recently endured a dip in form, however, he still remains the best player for the Reds, having contributed with 25 goals and 14 assists in 42 games this season. The 31-year-old veteran boasts of an incredible tally; 211 goals and as many as 89 assists in 348 appearances for the club his switch from Roma in 2017.

Liverpool are already out of the Premier League title race following Manchester City's 4-0 thrashing of Fulham last week. To add to their woes, they could not claim a win in what was Klopp's final away game in charge of the Reds with a 3-3 draw at the Villa Park despite leading 3-1 until the 85th minute.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has clapped back at those attempting to undermine his team's success. Guardiola is chasing a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title - a feat that has never been achieved in English football.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has clapped back at those attempting to undermine his team's success. Guardiola is chasing a historic fourth consecutive Premier League title - a feat that has never been achieved in English football. Speaking ahead of the potential title-decider against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday (May 14), Guardiola said if success came only from money spent, the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea will be in their position. “Before it was the money. For that reason, Manchester United should have won all the titles, Chelsea - all the titles, Arsenal - all the titles. They spend as much money in the last five years as us. They should be there. They are not there," said Guardiola at the pre-match press conference. “For that reason Girona shouldn’t be in the Champions League [next season] and Leicester should win the Premier League," he added. Also read | ‘Won’t roll out red carpet’: Ange Postecoglou on facing Man City despite Spurs win helping rivals Arsenal Man City's 115 breaches While Guardiola has reached new milestones with the City team, his success has come with a little asterisk next to it. The Manchester-based club is facing 115 charges related to breach of Premier League regulations. The club is accused of providing inaccurate financial information between 2009 to 2018. It also failed to provide accurate details for player and manager payments from 2009 to 2018. Additionally, it failed to comply with UEFA's ruling, including Financial Fair Play (FFP) between 2013-14 and 2017-18. Between 2015 to 2018, the club has been charged with seven breaches of Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). While the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest have been punished this season for breaching PSR, City are yet to face any action. 'It is hard' While the legal cases remain pending against City, the team sits at the cusp of history. Guardiola admitted that his players knew what they were playing for, having reached so close to the ultimate prize. “In the beginning of the season we didn’t think about it. But then we were in February, March and April, we were still there. After that it ignites something in all our heads," said the Spanish manager. Guardiola cited examples of previous dynasties in the Premier League and Division One that failed to four-peat the title. “No team has done it. That shows how hard it is. Liverpool in the '80s, Sir Alex Ferguson’s United in the '90s. Chelsea with [Roman] Abramovich and Jose [Mourinho], Arsenal with [Arsene] Wenger didn’t do it.” A win against Spurs would propel City to the top of the points table, heading into the final matchday on Sunday (May 19). However, a loss or a draw would hand the advantage to Arsenal who are chasing their first title in nearly two decades. (With inputs from agencies)

Arsenal kept their Premier League title dreams alive by ending an Old Trafford hoodoo to grind out a 1-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday to move back top of the table.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal in the 20th minute&nbsp;as Arsenal won for just the second time in 17 games away at United to go a point clear at the summit.

Manchester City still have the chance of holding the title in their own hands as the defending champions have two matches left to Arsenal's one.

However, the Gunners kept the pressure on Pep Guardiola's men ahead of their tricky trip to Tottenham on Tuesday.

Defeat further dented United's chances of competing in Europe next season.

Erik ten Hag's men showed more spirit than in a dismal 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday (May 6), but have now won just one of their last eight Premier League games.

United remain eighth in the table, three points adrift of both Newcastle, who they face on Wednesday, and Chelsea.

<h2>A scintillating 2024 for Gunners</h2>

Arsenal have been in scintillating form in 2024 to remain in the race for their first league title in 20 years.

Mikel Arteta's men have won 15 and drawn one of their 17 league games since the turn of the year.

But Arsenal were far from their flowing best as the expected onslaught of an injury-ravaged United never materialised under unusually stifling heat in England's north-west.

The manner of defeat at Palace had increased the scrutiny on United boss Ten Hag.

He made three changes to the team swept aside at Selhurst Park as Scott McTominay,&nbsp; Sofyan Amrabat&nbsp;and&nbsp;Amad Diallo came in.

The Dutchman's options were again hamstrung by a lengthy list of absentees with captain Bruno Fernandes among those sidelined and a bench littered with youngsters.

But his decision to retain Casemiro as a makeshift centre-back after his woeful showing against Palace will become another stick to beat the beleaguered coach with.

The Brazil captain was dropped from their squad for the Copa America in midweek due to his terrible form.

After United had managed to keep the free-scoring visitors at bay for the opening 20 minutes, Casemiro was culpable for the opening goal.

The 32-year-old was laboured in pushing up from a United goal-kick to play Kai Havertz onside and Trossard then stole in on the blind side of Casemiro to tap in the German's cross.

United's new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance at Old Trafford rather than at Wembley to see the club's women pick up their first ever major trophy in the FA Cup final.

The work that lies ahead of Ratcliffe has been laid bare in recent weeks, but the home side did manage to keep the majority of the 74,000 crowd onside by taking the game to Arsenal after the break.

Arsenal, though, were rarely seriously troubled as they held out for a sixth clean sheet in their last seven away league games.

Alejandro Garnacho was United's one live wire but smashed into the side-netting with his best chance to equalise.

Gabriel Martinelli and Declan Rice were denied by brilliant Andre Onana saves to prevent Arsenal the second goal they craved to avoid a tense finale.

The visitors' desperation to see the game out was evident as Martinelli took the ball to the corner with 10 minutes of the 90 still to play.

But Arsenal did just enough to ask the question City, who host West Ham on the final day of the season after their visit to north London in midweek.

Arsenal overcome Manchester United challenge to go top of Premier League table

Manchester United home Old Trafford depicted its&nbsp;team's conditions perfectly after&nbsp;rain wreaked havoc on the stadium following 1-0 loss against Arsenal on Sunday (May 12). The facility, after the 41 mm rainfall, had a waterfall during the rain, thanks to a leak in the roof between the East stand and the Sir Alex Ferguson stand.

The conditions gave all the more reason to&nbsp;back&nbsp;new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliff's keenness to develop the stadium. Several videos shared on social media showed the waterfall at Old Trafford and water cascading underneath the seats along with leaking roofs inside the facility as well. In what comes a major security breach, a YouTube prankster who had previously crashed the BAFTAs, managed to sneak past the security apparatus and into the Manchester United team bus, following their 4-0 defeat at Selhurst Park on Monday (May 6), according to a report in The Athletic. The YouTuber, going by the moniker of Lizwani, was reportedly dressed in a United tracksuit as he entered the bus at Crystal Palace's home stadium. Not only did Lizwani manage to sneak past the security guards but he also found a seat on the bus as Erik ten Hag's side prepared to head back to Manchester. He was only spotted afterwards by United's security guards and peacefully removed from the bus. While the matter was resolved 'amicably', those involved in the matter have described it as a substantial security breach. The Premier League has sent a diktat to all 20 clubs, warning them to be on the lookout for repeats. CCTV footage is being examined by the club officials, in an attempt to scrutinise the prankster's movements and ascertain how he was able to pull off the rather dangerous stunt. United were outplayed in front of a vociferous Selhurst Park as Oliver Glasner's men toyed with the record Premier League champions. Ten Hag was left scratching his head as United looked shaky, ginger and too timid to take on the technically superior Palace players. Lizwani's BAFTA stunt Notably, Lizwani made headlines in March when he sneaked onto the stage as the cast and crew of Oppenheimer received their BAFTA award for best film. He managed to stand alongside the likes of director Christopher Nolan, actor Cillian Murphy and producer Emma Thomas. Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino did his best to silence the rumours about his future with the West London outfit following their 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, saying he plans to be with the team next season.

Pochettino had raised eyebrows a day earlier when he told reporters: "If we split it's not a problem, it will not be the end of the world."

Asked to clarify his comment, Pochettino sounded considerably more confident about his future with the club.

"I had an honest conversation in (Friday's) press conference. To clarify, if the owner is happy with my job we can continue," he said on Saturday.

"I am always a coach who is thinking long term. All departments must be happy for us to be a good team to compete. I still have one more year in my contract and I am thinking to be here."

Chelsea are seventh in the table, fuelling hopes of a European berth next season.

They battled back from a goal down thanks to Raheem Sterling's equaliser in the 80th minute and Nicolas Jackson's winner two minutes later. Jackson headed home a pinpoint cross from skipper Reece James, who played his first game in five months after undergoing hamstring surgery.

James' return to fitness -- which also breathes hope into his chances of a place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad -- was a bright spot on Saturday, although Pochettino lamented his return came so late in the season.

"He is unlucky because we are at the end of the season and there are only two games left," said the 52-year-old Argentine. "He can add his quality and experience."

Pochettino blamed Chelsea's place in the table on early-season woes. They are undefeated in 12 of their past 13 league games.

Premier League: Pochettino on his Chelsea future despite win over Forest, 'If we split...'

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League after a 2-1 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.

Vincent Kompany's side needed a victory in north London to have any chance of taking their survival bid to the last day of the season.

Jacob Bruun Larsen's 25th minute opener gave the second-bottom Clarets a glimmer of hope.

But Pedro Porro equalised seven minutes later and Micky van de Ven bagged Tottenham's winner in the 82nd minute.

Five points adrift of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest with one game left, Burnley join already-relegated Sheffield United in returning to the Championship after last season's promotion.

Kompany consoled his heart-broken players on the pitch after the final whistle as the grim reality of relegation washed over them.

Burnley had been heading back towards the second tier for months before finally showing some fight in recent weeks to stay in the hunt to beat the drop.

Former Manchester City defender Kompany was hailed for the stylish way Burnley swaggered&nbsp;to the Championship title last season.

But the Premier League proved far tougher for Kompany, who is in his second season in charge of the Turf Moor club.

It took Burnley seven games to secure their first league win of the campaign, setting the tone for a difficult season that included heavy defeats against Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.&nbsp;

Burnley were relegated from the Premier League after a 2-1 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday. Vincent Kompany's side needed a victory in north London to have any chance of taking their survival bid to the last day of the season. Jacob Bruun Larsen's 25th minute opener gave the second-bottom Clarets a glimmer of hope. But Pedro Porro equalised seven minutes later and Micky van de Ven bagged Tottenham's winner in the 82nd minute. Five points adrift of fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest with one game left, Burnley join already-relegated Sheffield United in returning to the Championship after last season's promotion. Kompany consoled his heart-broken players on the pitch after the final whistle as the grim reality of relegation washed over them. Burnley had been heading back towards the second tier for months before finally showing some fight in recent weeks to stay in the hunt to beat the drop. Former Manchester City defender Kompany was hailed for the stylish way Burnley swaggered to the Championship title last season. Manchester City could take&nbsp;yet&nbsp;another giant step towards the Premier League title over the weekend as they face Fulham. The defending champions will look to become the first team in the history of English football to be crowned champions for four consecutive seasons. But Arsenal&nbsp;sitting&nbsp;top&nbsp;of the Premier League standings and with&nbsp;a tight margin for error, when&nbsp;could Man City be crowned the champions of England at the earliest?&nbsp;

<h2>When could City become champions?</h2>

As things stand, City can win the Premier League title with three wins in the three remaining matches of the season, which would&nbsp;therefore&nbsp;see&nbsp;them become champions on the&nbsp;final day of the season.&nbsp;However, they could be champions as early as Tuesday (May 14) evening if results go their way. Currently on 82 points, City could attain 88 points by Tuesday evening if they beat both Fulham and Spurs in their next two matches.&nbsp;

A defeat for Arsenal against Manchester United at Old Trafford could see them reach only a maximum of 86 points before the final weekend. Therefore, City will be crowned champions on Tuesday if they win both their next two matches and Arsenal lose at Old Trafford.

Even a draw for Arsenal against United will see City crowned champions on Tuesday if they beat Ange Postecoglou’s side.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side won’t be crowned champions on the weekend in any&nbsp;set of&nbsp;results.&nbsp;

<h2>What happens if both&nbsp;City,&nbsp;Arsenal end with the same points?</h2>

In case&nbsp;both Man City and Arsenal end with the same points, then the Premier League title will be decided on goal difference (GD). As things stand, Arsenal have a superior goal difference of +60&nbsp;while&nbsp;Man City have +54. Much will depend on how many goals City and Arsenal score to win their matches in the remainder of the season. Interestingly, Man City remain the only team in the history of the Premier League to win the title on GD&nbsp;having&nbsp; done&nbsp;so&nbsp;in the 2011-12 season when they finished level with Man United on 89 points each.&nbsp;

‘Matter of days’: Arne Slot sheds light on potential Liverpool move in summer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp ended speculations surrounding the exit of Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez as the club nears the end of the current Premier League season. Nunez, who was signed from Benfica in 2022 has failed to put down a marker during his two-year spell at the club having often missed big chances in big matches. The most recent example was during defeats to Atalanta, Manchester United and notable other big games which has seen him on the receiving end of huge criticism.

<h2>Klopp on Darwin Nunez’s future</h2>

“There is no speculation on his future. That must be external speculation”.

“Darwin was not happy missing that chance and it happens. You help him if you can, but it’s part of a footballer’s career,” Klopp said on Nunez’s future at the club.

During the years at the club, Nunez has been a focal point of criticism and has scored 33 goals in all competitions. During the same period, Erling Haaland scored 88 goals for Manchester City when he came from Borussia Dortmund in 2022. The 24-year-old’s time at the club has also been rattled with injuries which has seen him sit on the sidelines.

According to former players and pundits, Nunez is the weak link in the final third for the Reds which has cost them points. With little over a week&nbsp;to go&nbsp;before the Premier League season’s conclusion, Arsenal will be optimistic to win the title and end their two-decade wait to lift the English football’s holy grail. Arsenal&nbsp;with&nbsp;two matches to go are on the brink of lifting the title&nbsp;but&nbsp;that won’t happen without a helping hand. <h2>What needs to happen for Arsenal to win the Premier League?</h2>

The odds remain against the Gunners winning the Premier League title as Manchester City hold their fate in their own hands. Three wins in three matches for Pep Guardiola’s men will see them get crowned champions, having no bearing on what Arsenal do in their remaining two&nbsp;matches. Considering the best scenario for Mikel Arteta’s men, they need to win both their matches and hope Man City don’t surpass their points tally. &nbsp;

This&nbsp;would mean Arsenal finish on 89 points while Man City need to finish on 88 points or fewer. For City to finish with that point, they should lose at least one match or draw two&nbsp;matches&nbsp;in their remaining three&nbsp;matches.&nbsp;

Man City’s three matches remaining include Fulham (Saturday), Spurs (Tuesday) and West Ham United (May 18). Arsenal could be given a big helping hand by arch-rivals Spurs if they beat Man City on Tuesday, but having lost four consecutive&nbsp;matches&nbsp;the result is&nbsp;highly unlikely.

Outgoing Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has hinted at a return to the Premier League as he enters the final chapter of his stint with the German giants. The former Chelsea boss will be a free agent in the summer&nbsp;with&nbsp;Bayern having already announced his departure from the club.&nbsp;

Thomas Tuchel said on his potential return to Premier League: “I’d rather not answer… but it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea, I loved it in England&nbsp;and&nbsp;I loved it in the Premier League for sure”.

“It was a very, very&nbsp;special time in England,”&nbsp;Tuchel told TNT Sports.

Considering his hunger to win trophies and credibility, Tuchel will only attract interest from top clubs. As things stand, Liverpool are the only club confirmed to have a vacancy in the club’s management role. Newcastle United is another club where Tuchel could attract interest, but Eddie Howe is unlikely to be sacked.&nbsp;This&nbsp;leaves limited options for Tuchel to come back into English football.&nbsp;

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could miss the all-important final Premier League match of the season against Everton later this month. With a title on the line, Arteta is walking a tightrope and any disciplinary action against him could lead to a touchline ban, which may have a negative effect on the team's morale.&nbsp;

Heading into the penultimate match against Manchester United, Arteta has received five yellow cards - the most a manager has accumulated this season. Another yellow card against the Red Devils on the Old Trafford turf would mean a one-game suspension for the Spanish manager.&nbsp;

With the tempers expected to flare, as they usually do in fixtures of such magnitude, it would augur best for Arteta and Arsenal that he keeps a calm demeanour. A suspension would result in Arteta's team playing in front of relegation battlers, Everton, without his guidance.&nbsp;

<h2>Everton halt title challengers&nbsp;</h2>

The Toffees, under manager Sean Dyche, have already shown that they are capable of halting title charges. Cross-city rivals Liverpool found it the hard way last month when the title challengers succumbed to a 0-2 defeat and fell behind in the race against Arsenal and Manchester City. &nbsp;

The Arsenal gaffer has already faced suspension once thus season after receiving three yellow cards following a booking against Luton Town. He was forced to miss the Gunners' trip to Aston Villa in December and his side were beaten 1-0, showing the significant impact his absence had on the team. December was the month where Arsenal lost steam in the title race before roaring back to form.&nbsp;

Arsenal are currently leading the Premier League points table, having collected 83 points in 36 matches played. Manchester City are on second spot with 82 points but have a game in hand and could potentially leapfrog Arsenal after the match against Fulham on Saturday (May 11).&nbsp;

The calculation is simple for Arsenal to win its first Premier League title in nearly two decades. The London-based team needs to win all its matches and hope that City drop a point or lose one of their matches. As for Liverpool, a lot hinges on both Arsenal and City imploding at the final hurdle which looks highly unlikely at this stage.&nbsp;

Could Mikel Arteta miss Arsenal’s potential title-decider against Everton? Here's how

English commentator and former player Jamie Carragher lashed out at the Manchester United star players for talking on the pitch following their heavy drubbing at the hands of Crystal Palace in their Premier League encounter on Monday (May 6). In their away encounter, United were left shellshocked as they lost 4-0 to Palace as the ongoing PL season continues to be a sorry affair for them.

Post the match, United star players -- namely&nbsp;Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Antony -- were seen talking and whispering on the pitch which wasn't well received by former Liverpool player-turned-commentator Carragher. The veteran schooled the United players for their 'embarrassing' act.&nbsp;

Talking on Sky Sports, Carragher said, "Just get off the pitch! Talking, whispering behind your hand - you've been absolutely awful. You're probably talking about one of the players or somebody else or the setup or the manager. Just get off the pitch, shut up and get in. You've been beaten 4-0... whispering, talking about other players. Honestly, embarrassing."

<h2>'No United team should be getting beat 4-0 by Palace'</h2>

Carragher further opined, "Your performance level will drop when you lose your best players. Ten Hag needs performances. He needs belief. You've got to make us believe there's something here. Post the match, United star players -- namely Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Antony -- were seen talking and whispering on the pitch which wasn't well received by former Liverpool player-turned-commentator Carragher. The veteran schooled the United players for their 'embarrassing' act. Honestly, embarrassing." 'No United team should be getting beat 4-0 by Palace' Carragher further opined, "Your performance level will drop when you lose your best players. Ten Hag needs performances. He needs belief. You've got to make us believe there's something here. I struggled to see how United would win tonight. No United team should be getting beat 4-0 by Palace. Man United's U23 team, I'd still expect them not to lose 4-0." He added, "I've never been a coach or a manager, but I've been a player and some of the things I see are just wrong." West Ham manager David Moyes will leave "by mutual consent" when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Premier League club said Monday (May 6). The announcement of Moyes's impending exit came just a day after the Hammers suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to London rivals Chelsea.

West Ham manager David Moyes will leave "by mutual consent" when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Premier League club said Monday (May 6). The announcement of Moyes's impending exit came just a day after the Hammers suffered an embarrassing 5-0 loss to London rivals Chelsea. "West Ham United can confirm David Moyes will leave the club by mutual consent at the end of the 2023/24 season, when his contract expires," said a club statement. Monday's announcement came amid media speculation that former Real Madrid, Wolves and Spain manager Julen Loptegui had agreed a deal to replace Moyes, in his second spell as West Ham manager, after the end of the current campaign. Moyes said: "I have enjoyed four-and-a-half brilliant years at West Ham, and the club is in a stronger position than when I returned back in 2019." "When I joined West Ham for a second time, the club was one place above the relegation zone, and it has been a terrific journey to have achieved three consecutive seasons in Europe." "I would like to thank all the players for their support, and all the success they have achieved, over the last four-and-a-half years." West Ham joint-chairman David Sullivan told the club's website: "On behalf of everyone at West Ham United, I would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to David for the contribution he has made to the football club during his time as manager." "David has been responsible for a period of great progress and success in our history, and we are extremely grateful for all of his hard work, commitment and dedication to the role."

Manchester United's woes continued as they were thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace in their Premier League encounter on Monday (May 6). The loss has put more pressure on Erik Ten Hag to continue as the team manager for the next season. While there has been heavy criticism, the Dutchman stated that he 'will keep fighting' and 'find the energy' to prepare the team for the next game with nine points to play for&nbsp;this season.

Following their big defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, United are in the eighth spot with three league games in hand, at the brink of attaining&nbsp;several unwanted records.

The Red Devils currently have a club-record number of losses (13) in a Premier League season. Notably, they have already faced their most shots (618) in a single campaign. Thus, if they let in three more goals in&nbsp;this term, it will set a new mark for their most conceded in a season.

After the loss, Ten Hag told SkySports, "I will keep fighting, I have prepared the team in the best way I can. It (the performance) was not good enough and I have to take the responsibility for that."

"But I will find the energy and prepare them for the next game. We have nine points to play for and we have to fight for those," he stated.

United had a tough time against Palace&nbsp;from the word go. Heading into the game with injury issues, the former champions were forced to play midfielder Casemiro at centre-back. This led to him being exposed on a number of occasions as Palace’s mobile front three pulled their visitors apart.

However, Ten Hag refused to put the blame on Casemiro and said, "You can’t put it on one player, it is a team performance. We did not adapt to the different situations. It’s clear, we didn’t act how we want to, it’s not good enough."

He added, "There are always reasons, everyone could see our backline today, where we had huge problems. But at the end of the day, we have to deal with these issues and we should have done better."

United will now turn to&nbsp;home comforts as they will host league leaders Arsenal on Sunday (May 12).

Premier League: Underfire Erik Ten Hag says he will 'keep fighting' after Man United's loss vs Crystal Palace

Nottingham Forest have failed in their appeal against a four-point penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules, the English top flight announced on Tuesday.

The club were hit with the sanction by an independent commission in March for breaching the profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) threshold of £61 million ($76 million) by £34.5 million.

Forest quickly indicated their intention to appeal but an independent appeal board panel has upheld the original penalty, which relates to a three-year assessment period ending with the 2022/23 season.

It means the 17th-placed club remain on 29 points, three points above the relegation zone, with two games left to play.

Forest had sought a reduction in the punishment because they felt the original commission should have taken the big-money sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham, two months after the end of the financial year ending 2023, into account as a mitigating factor.

They also felt the original commission had made a mistake by not wholly or partially suspending the sanction.

A release published on the Premier League website read: "The club argued that the independent commission committed an error in not treating its sale of a high-profile player shortly after the assessment period as a mitigating factor, and that it committed a further error in electing not to suspend some or all of the points deduction it imposed."

"Each of these grounds was rejected by the appeal board, which found the independent commission was entitled to immediately impose the sanction it did."

"The four-point deduction will therefore remain in place."

In November, Everton were docked 10 points for breaching PSR, reduced to six on appeal, while a separate two-point deduction imposed on the club for a separate breach is under appeal.

The Goodison Park club are now clear of relegation danger following a run of good results.

Premier League clubs are usually allowed maximum losses of £105 million over a three-year assessment period but this is reduced by £22 million per season for any seasons within the period spent in the Championship.

Forest, two time European champions, were promoted to the Premier League in May 2022, meaning two seasons of their three-year assessment period were as a second-tier club.

Michael Olise scored a brace of goals as Crystal Palace completed a league double over Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;for the first time in their history with a thumping 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park on Monday that will add to the pressure on Erik ten Hag. A makeshift&nbsp;United&nbsp;defence that included Casemiro at centre-back was easily picked apart by Palace on several occasions as Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell were also on the scoresheet in the impressive win.

United&nbsp;remain in eighth place with 54 points from 35 games, two points behind Newcastle&nbsp;United&nbsp;in sixth, with their hopes of European football next season fading fast. Palace are still in 14th with 43 points from 36 matches.

United&nbsp;had several injury absentees and were without Bruno Fernandes, the first time in his 230-game Old Trafford career he has missed a match with injury, but the ease with which they were beaten will be a huge concern for everyone at the club.

"A big disappointment. We just had an off-day and we weren't in it," midfielder Christian Eriksen told BBC. "It is what it is. We can't really change the injury things. We have to do what we can on the pitch to change it. "Today it didn't matter who we played. Everyone could have done better. We tried to do what we could but we were not good enough. We'll take the blame as players."

It is the first time in the Premier League era&nbsp;United&nbsp;have lost 13 games in a season and the scoreline might have been worse.

The home side took the lead inside 12 minutes as Olise collected a throw and evaded a limp challenge from Casemiro. With no&nbsp;United&nbsp;player attempting to close him down, he was able to unleash a low shot from just inside the box.

It was 2-0 five minutes before the break as Mateta breezed past&nbsp;United&nbsp;defender Jonny Evans and thrashed the ball into the net for a ninth goal in 11 games since the arrival of Glasner in February.

The striker had scored 11 goals in his previous 80 games for Palace before that. United’s makeshift defence was struggling to contain the movement of their hosts and when Diogo Dalot failed to deal with a ball to the back post, Mitchell had a tap-in.

Olise’s second goal added more salt to the wound and it could have been worse for the visitors as Odsonne Edouard saw his shot come back off the woodwork late on. "I think we could have got a few more. That shows the potential we have to play against any team in the league," Palace defender Chris Richards said.

Premier League: Makeshift Manchester United thumped 4-0 by Crystal Palace

Liverpool responded to Jurgen Klopp's call to end his stay on a high as a 4-2 victory over Tottenham further dented Spurs' hopes of a top-four finish on Sunday (May 5).

Liverpool responded to Jurgen Klopp's call to end his stay on a high as a 4-2 victory over Tottenham further dented Spurs' hopes of a top-four finish on Sunday (May 5). Mohamed Salah was restored to the Reds' starting line-up after his public spat with Klopp last weekend and opened the floodgates. Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott were also on target as Liverpool kept their Premier League title hopes mathematically alive. Richarlison and Son Heung-min replied late on for Tottenham, but the damage to their chances of Champions League football next season was already done. Klopp's men are guaranteed to finish no lower than third and closed the gap on leaders Arsenal to five points with two games remaining. Spurs have now lost four consecutive games to leave Ange Postecoglou's men still seven points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa with just nine left to play for. Tottenham realistically need to win all of their three remaining games, including at home to title-chasing Manchester City, to have any hope of reeling in Villa. But on this form they may even struggle to see off Burnley and Sheffield United as Spurs have collapsed after a highly promising start to Postecoglou's reign. The Australian admitted after a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Thursday (May 2) that his message was not getting through to his players and there was no reaction from the visitors until it was too late.` Salah had a war of words with Klopp on the touchline as he prepared to enter as a second-half substitute in a 2-2 draw at West Ham last weekend that sounded the death knell for Liverpool's title ambitions. They had won just two of their last seven games in all competitions, including just one in their previous five in the league. Salah's drop off in form since being injured at the Africa Cup of Nations has been a major factor. But he scored his first goal from open play in nine games to inspire a Liverpool display far more in keeping with the quality showing that had got them into the title race in the first place. Gakpo's cross to the back post picked out Salah completely unmarked and Guglielmo Vicario's weak hand failed to keep out his header on 16 minutes. Also read | Feyenoord's Arne Slot confirmed to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool's next manager Klopp's last dance Klopp will take charge at Anfield just one more time when Wolves visit on the final day of the season. The Liverpool support were keen to savour the occasion as Klopp's name reverberated around the stadium and his players responded by finding their form after a difficult few weeks. Robertson got the second goal Liverpool's dominance deserved before the break when he tapped in the rebound after Salah's initial effort was parried by Vicario. Tottenham were just as poor at the start of the second period to take their tally of goals conceded in the last four games to 13. Gakpo's precise header from Elliott's cross found the bottom corner on 50 minutes. Elliott then scored the goal of the game when he blasted into the top corner from outside the box. Postecoglou introduced Richarlison and James Maddison as part of a triple change on the hour mark and the visitors were transformed in the final stages. Richarlison swept home Brennan Johnson's cross and then teed up Son to score for the fifth consecutive game against Liverpool. Alisson Becker needed to produce a vital stop from Richarlison to prevent a grandstand finish in seven minutes of added time. Liverpool's defensive lapses showed why they still need a miracle collapse by Arsenal and Manchester City in the final fortnight of the season to have any chance of ending Klopp's nine-year stay as Premier League champions. But Tottenham's response was too little, too late to help their ambitions of joining the Reds in the Champions League next season.

Liverpool keep title hopes ‘mathematically’ alive after denting Spurs’ top-4 bid

Darwin Nunez has left fans perplexed after he deleted all Liverpool-related content on his Instagram account, following an impressive victory by the Reds over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday (May 5).&nbsp;

Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League, having gone on a hara-kiri spree in recent weeks that saw them lose ground in the title race. However, the team, freshened up after a relatively long break, played Spurs out of the park and managed to grab a 4-2 win in front of a packed Anfield crowd.&nbsp;

The only blemish remained Nunez's after-match deleting spree on Instagram where all photos and videos related to the club no longer appear. The only reference to the club remains on his profile bio, in which Nunez has tagged both Liverpool FC and the Uruguay national team. His display picture still has him in a Liverpool kit.&nbsp;

<h2>Criticism gets to Nunez?</h2>

Fans have speculated that the heavy criticism levelled by certain sections of the online fanbase against Nunez had finally got to him.&nbsp;

"Online abuse or direct criticism is not acceptable, no matter what," said one user, while another commented:&nbsp;"Back your players, even on a rough patch. Even on a human level, we all struggle mentally and need support. You’ll Never Walk Alone, Darwin Nunez."

The forward is coming to the end of his second year on the Merseyside and despite&nbsp;18 goals and 13 assists in 53 games, the no. 9 is yet to completely win over the fans.

While the Uruguayan has shown marked improvement from his first season on the Merseyside, his consistency has still left a lot to be desired. Nunez leads the chart in the most number of big chances missed in the league, which also shows that he is a chance magnet -&nbsp;continuously generating scoring opportunities for himself and the team.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h2>Ipswich back in Premier League</h2>

Going into the final day, with a poor goal difference compared to third placed Leeds United, Ipswich were in danger of missing out on promotion had they lost and Leeds United won on the final day. However, there was no rush in the proceedings at the Portman Road on Saturday&nbsp;with&nbsp;Wes Burns opening the scoring in the 27th minute. The goal also meant that Huddersfield’s chance of mathematical survival was over.&nbsp;

The lead was doubled in the 48th minute when Omari Hutchinson converted for their side’s second goal after three minutes into the second half.&nbsp;With Huddersfield looking out of ideas and no chance of survival,&nbsp;there was&nbsp;no resistance&nbsp;offered by them&nbsp;which&nbsp;sealed a 2-0 win for the home side.&nbsp;Ipswich’s job&nbsp;was further smoothened&nbsp;by Leeds’ 2-1 defeat to Southampton.&nbsp;

With the win, The Blues ended with 96 points from the 46-game league season, scoring 92 league goals along the way,&nbsp;and gained promotion from the third tier last season.

Credit goes to manager Kieran McKenna&nbsp;who&nbsp;took the side’s reign in 2021 when Ipswich were 11th in League One (third tier of English football). However, back-to-back promotions&nbsp;do&nbsp;mean they will compete against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and other top teams in the Premier League.&nbsp;

While there was a joy for one Ipswich, Birmingham City had a sorrowful day after they&nbsp;were relegated&nbsp;to League One. Needing a win and other teams around them to drop points on the final day, Birmingham did not get a helping hand and suffered relegation. They beat Norwich City 1-0 and ended the season with 50 points from 46 matches. However, wins on the final day of the season for Blackburn Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield Wednesday meant Birmingham’s win was academic&nbsp;and&nbsp;were&nbsp;relegated&nbsp;to the third tier of English football.&nbsp;

English second division side Ipswich Town will be back in the Premier League after 22 years after they beat relegated Huddersfield Town 2-0 on the final day of the Championship league season on Saturday (May 4). Playing at home at Portman Road, Ipswich needed a point on the final day of the season to seal their return to the Premier League. However, with the team in great spirit and form, they secured three points to enter the top flight. We are @premierleague. pic.twitter.com/bHbComlHh2 — I(P)SWICH TOWN (@IpswichTown) May 4, 2024 × Ipswich back in Premier League Going into the final day, with a poor goal difference compared to third placed Leeds United, Ipswich were in danger of missing out on promotion had they lost and Leeds United won on the final day. However, there was no rush in the proceedings at the Portman Road on Saturday with Wes Burns opening the scoring in the 27th minute. The goal also meant that Huddersfield’s chance of mathematical survival was over. The lead was doubled in the 48th minute when Omari Hutchinson converted for their side’s second goal after three minutes into the second half. With Huddersfield looking out of ideas and no chance of survival, there was no resistance offered by them which sealed a 2-0 win for the home side. Ipswich’s job was further smoothened by Leeds’ 2-1 defeat to Southampton. With the win, The Blues ended with 96 points from the 46-game league season, scoring 92 league goals along the way, and gained promotion from the third tier last season. Credit goes to manager Kieran McKenna who took the side’s reign in 2021 when Ipswich were 11th in League One (third tier of English football). However, back-to-back promotions do mean they will compete against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and other top teams in the Premier League. The war of words between Roy Keane and Erling Haaland ceases to end. The former Manchester United player-turned-pundit has slammed the Norwegian for his reaction to the substitution made by manager Pep Guardiola against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.&nbsp;

After a relatively lean patch, Haaland bagged four goals against Wolves but looked furious when he was put on the bench by the manager. Keane picked up on the matter and said Haaland was acting like a "spoiled brat".

"I think we saw Haaland yesterday brought off not too happy, behaving like a spoiled brat. I think when you have the spat as well with the manager and obviously your Star Man, it doesn't help that results aren't going your way," said Keane.&nbsp;

"But because they win the game, he scores goals it's almost forgotten about," he added.&nbsp;

Quizzed&nbsp;if Haaland's animated reaction to being subbed off was justified, Keane said: "No, no. No it's not."

Keane's statement is expected to increase the bitterness between him and Haaland as the two have been going at each other.&nbsp;

Haaland's rather bitter response toward Keane could also stem from the long-running feud the Manchester United player had with his father Alfie Haaland.

Notably, Keane was notoriously sent off for a horrible tackle with Haaland senior in 2001. The tackle was partly responsible for Alfie having to cut short his playing career.

Despite his limitations, Haaland has been a goal-scoring machine for City who are eyeing a historical fourth Premier League title on the trot.&nbsp;

‘Behaving like a spoiled brat’: Roy Keane hits back after Haaland’s ‘don’t care about that man’ comment

Liverpool's outgoing manager Jurgen Klopp said that the Liverpool 2.0 project will keep going after his departure at the end of the ongoing Premier League (PL) season. Liverpool are currently third on the Premier League points table and are vying for the title in a close race with table toppers Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City.

"Of course, it's not perfect as if it was we'd have five or six points more and would still be fighting for the league," Klopp told Sky Sports in an interview published on Sunday (May 5).

"But if you rewind to the start of the season, I called it Liverpool 2.0... Liverpool 2.0 doesn't stop after I leave. It's just the start of another project with a really good squad."

It is, however, hard for Liverpool to win this season unless Arsenal and Man City have 'a crisis' as suggested by Klopp after their 2-2 draw at West Ham last week.

He also reflected on his decision to quit as the club's manager after nine years and said that he felt he couldn't keep going at 100% for another season.

"I was sure that if I didn't make that decision now, next year it could have been tricky. The thought of picking yourself up for another preseason, make big decisions," Klopp said.

"For that, you really need to be full of energy -- 80% is not enough. That's the truth. It's too much. It's a 24/7 job. Yes, there are more important things in life, but if you really care then it's 24/7.

"I did it for a pretty long time and I knew I couldn't continue to do it at the standard necessary for a club like Liverpool," he added.

The German is expected to be replaced by Dutchman Arne Slot who currently manages Feyenoord in the Dutch professional football league.

Premier League: 'Stop after I leave...,' Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool's future after his upcoming departure

Manchester City's Erling Haaland struck four times as they remained on course to win a fourth successive Premier League title with a 5-1 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Hours after Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola's men responded with a resounding victory that pulled them to within a point of the North Londoners at the top of the standings, but with a game in hand.

Arsenal have 83 points with two fixtures remaining in one of the tightest title races in years, while City have 82, but three games to play.

"Nine (more) points, we will be champions. Seven points, six points, three points, Arsenal will win the Premier League," Guardiola said.

Haaland -- who boosted his league scoring lead to 25 with the first four-goal haul of his career -- converted from the penalty spot in the 12th minute after Rayan Ait-Nouri's late tackle took Josko Gvardiol down in the box.

The 23-year-old Norwegian doubled City's lead in the 35th when he soared high to head home at the far post from Rodri's cross.

"That's a beautiful goal. My father (Alf-Inge Haaland, who played for City) is going to be happy with that one," Haaland told Sky Sports. "A nice celebration, I enjoyed that one.

"Not bad, 25 goals this season. We keep going."

Haaland converted again from the spot just before halftime after he was clipped from behind by Nelson Semedo in the area. Hwang Hee-chan pulled one back for Wolves in the 53rd with the visitors' only shot on target.

But a minute later, Haaland smothered any hopes of a comeback with his fourth.

The goal-scoring machine -- who missed nearly two months earlier this season with a foot injury but seems to be finding form again at the perfect time -- controlled a diagonal pass in the air from Phil Foden before slicing inside and curling a shot into the far corner.

"He was injured, to get back to best form you need time," Guardiola said. "But happy for his performance, for his exceptional goals, in the penalties as well because we know how some days it is not easy ... really pleased for him."

Substitute Julian Alvarez completed City's scoring in the 85th minute.

Wolves, whose manager Gary O'Neil was serving a touchline ban, looked nothing like the team that edged City 2-1 earlier in the season.

"I thought we damaged ourselves mostly," said O'Neil, whose squad are 11th in the standings. "If you make errors against these guys, they'll punish you. We made too many errors and Manchester City were very clinical.

"It was a tough afternoon, which we knew potentially it would be."

Haaland’s hat-trick against Wolves keeps Manchester City ahead of Arsenal in tight PL title race

<h2>Arsenal gifted penalty by referee</h2>

In the 42nd minute of the match at the Emirates Stadium in London, referee David Coote decided to give a penalty for a foul on Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz. While the naked eyes showed that there was a touch by goalkeeper Mark Travers on Havertz, upon replay it was spotted that the touch was engineered by the attacker on the goalkeeper. However, the benefit of the doubt was given in the home side’s favour and the penalty stood despite VAR being used in the process.&nbsp;

The resulting penalty was converted by Saka which saw the Gunners take a 1-0 lead at the break. The lead now sees Arsenal go on 83 points in the Premier League standings with two matches to go. On the other hand, Man City are on 79 points from 34 matches and can narrow the gap to one point by the end of the night when they face Wolves later on Sunday.&nbsp;

Premier League: Arsenal gifted controversial penalty by referee in Bournemouth clash - WATCH

Ange Postecoglou admitted his Tottenham flops have "lost belief" after a dismal 2-0 defeat against Chelsea left their hopes of Champions League qualification in tatters.

Postecoglou's side needed a win at Stamford Bridge to close the gap on fourth-placed Aston Villa in the race to finish in the Premier League's top four.

But instead they slumped to a third successive loss after goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson fired Chelsea to victory over their London rivals.

Fifth-placed Tottenham are seven points behind Villa with four games left, while Unai Emery's men have three to play.

With their Champions League hopes fading, Postecoglou conceded his players are no longer playing with the confidence that infused their performances earlier this season.

"I am the manager and I am the one putting them out there and it was not good enough.

"When we put in a performance like we did in the first half it meant my message wasn't getting through."

Tottenham's issues with defending set-pieces were decisive again, leaving former Celtic boss Postecoglou to bemoan his side's collapse in the final weeks of his first season in charge.

"I feel like we've lost a bit of belief and conviction in our football and that is on me to change that," he said. "It wasn't about conceding the first goal, it was our approach to playing football and we were nowhere near good enough. That is on me.

"We've been in a bit of a grind for a while now, that is part of our challenge and part of our growth. We have to go out there and perform and sometimes you have to grind out. We were poor today."

"I am the manager and I am the one putting them out there and it was not good enough. "When we put in a performance like we did in the first half it meant my message wasn't getting through." Tottenham's issues with defending set-pieces were decisive again, leaving former Celtic boss Postecoglou to bemoan his side's collapse in the final weeks of his first season in charge.

Premier League: Tottenham slip in race for top four finish after shock Chelsea defeat

Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has taken potshots at the broadcasters, FIFA and other footballing stakeholders in a recent 'bombshell' media address. Quizzed if he would consider a role in football administration post his Liverpool departure, possibly&nbsp;as the FIFA president, Klopp said he wouldn't survive in the 'sea&nbsp;of sharks'.&nbsp;

Klopp was addressing the media ahead of his side's high-octane Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday (May 5). The German manager was at his most animated self and expressed concerns about how the game was being run.&nbsp;

“I got an award yesterday from the PFA, I don’t know exactly for what, but I think for speaking up for players. I never thought about it but they will need people in a normal age knowing the business," said Klopp.&nbsp;

"But imagine me becoming FIFA president? It is obviously a well-paid job – that is why they all want to do it; not the official part obviously, but you can make a living from it. I don’t think I will spend my lifetime on these kind of things. Alone you can’t change anything. I probably wouldn’t survive in that sea of sharks," he added.&nbsp;

<h2>Klopp lashes out at TNT Sports</h2>

Earlier, Klopp had come down heavy on TNT Sports and accused the English broadcaster of contributing to the failure of Premier League clubs in Europe this season. Klopp said the fixture congestion due to the broadcaster's greed was the primary reason for the big English&nbsp;teams crashing out of the European competitions.&nbsp;

“I had a discussion the other day with colleagues from my favourite TV channel which I will definitely never watch again, TNT. They always say: ‘They pay you. They give money for football.’ It’s the other way around. Football pays them," said a seething Klopp.&nbsp;

"They broadcast and deliver it but it’s not like TNT or Sky is doing really well and can pay all of you.That’s just a little advice from an old man on the way out. I will watch a lot of football but not all – people can survive without matches from time to time."&nbsp;

Klopp also questioned the astronomical number of 12:30 pm kickoffs that Liverpool had been allotted in the past couple of seasons. The host broadcasters have a say in which team is given the afternoon slot and since Liverpool brings more eyeballs, the likes of TNT Sports routinely push Liverpool to the said slot. However, it means short turnaround time for the team which contributes to injuries and sluggish performances.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

<h2>United’s&nbsp;miserable finish to 2023-24 season</h2>

As things stand, United will have two opportunities to qualify for the Europa League – a top six finish will see them reach the second-tier competition for Europe. However, if they miss out on a Top Six finish, even a win in the FA Cup final against arch-rivals Manchester City will see them play Europa League football in the 2024-25 season.&nbsp;

Currently&nbsp;United are sixth in the standings, one point clear of seventh placed Newcastle and three&nbsp;clear&nbsp;of Chelsea in eighth place. With a head-to-head match against Newcastle and a key fixture against Arsenal coming, United will need a solid finish to guarantee a top six spot. If United&nbsp;do&nbsp;finish outside the top four, it will be the sixth occasion they have done so in&nbsp;post Sir&nbsp;Alex Ferguson era under four different permanent managers.&nbsp;

'We are not where we want to be': Ten Hag insists there is unfinished transfer business ahead of busy summer

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted that all was well between him and his star forward Mohamed Salah after they had a go at each other during the Premier League match against West Ham United, last week.&nbsp;

Speaking to reporters ahead of the heavyweight clash against Tottenham Hotspur, Klopp said his disagreement with Salah had been "completely" resolved.&nbsp;

"Completely resolved. It's no problem. If we didn't know each other for so long I'm not sure how we would deal with it but we know each other for that long and respect each other too much," Klopp said.

"It's really no problem so we can deal with these kind of things completely independent of any expectations from the outside.," he added.&nbsp;

Although Klopp did not explain why the spat ensued between them but reiterated that the pair had moved on.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"We are absolutely fine with it but in general the best situation would be, everybody in the best possible place, we win the game, score lots of goals and yes the situation probably would not have been like that. It all depends on each other."

<h2>What actually happened?</h2>

Playing away from home at the London Stadium, Liverpool once again went a goal down as Jarrod Bowen scored in the 43rd minute. However, courtesy of a goal from Andy Robertson and an own goal from Alphonse Areola, the Merseyside Reds managed to steal the advantage.

Just when it looked like Klopp's men would walk away with a win, Antonio scored in the 77th minute to bring the hosts back into the contest. It was only after the equaliser that Klopp thought of bringing Salah on as the situation escalated between the duo.&nbsp;

Speaking to the reporters about the incident after the match, Salah said: "There is going to be fire today if I speak."

Klopp was also asked the same thing to which he said: "We spoke about that in the dressing room and it's done for me, that's all."

The feud came at a time when Liverpool's title challenge has been derailed by a string of agonising losses and draws. The team from Merseyside had been chasing a quadruple but poor performances in April means that Klopp will depart with only Carabao Cup in his final season.&nbsp;
