NASA and SpaceX are all set to re-attempt sending the next crew of four astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS).&nbsp;

The mission which has been dubbed Crew-7 will be launched on Saturday. Here's all you need to know about it.

The crew-7 mission will include four astronauts: Jasmin Moghbeli from the USA who will command the mission, Andreas Mogensen of Denmark, Satoshi Furukawa of Japan and Konstantin Borisov of Russia.

Lift-off as per the news agency report is planned for Saturday (August 26th), at 3:27 am (07:27 GMT) from Florida's NASA Kennedy Space Center's Launch Complex 39A. Sunday (August 27th) has been designated as the backup opportunity.

Crew-7 is&nbsp;the seventh routine mission to the International Space Station for Elon Musk's SpaceX. The first mission happened back in 2020.

The crew members will join seven colleagues who are aboard the ISS. After a few days, the previous occupants, who reached the orbital platform with Crew-6 mission, will leave for Earth.

<h2>Experiments in Space</h2>

The crew will spend six months aboard the&nbsp;orbital platform, and will carry out science experiments. Among these&nbsp;experiments is one which will have them&nbsp;collecting samples during a spacewalk.&nbsp;

This, as per AFP, will help determine whether the ISS releases microorganisms through its life support system vents, and will help scientists understand if these microorganisms can survive and reproduce in space.&nbsp;

Another important experiment the ISS crew will undertake includes the assessment of physiological differences between sleep on Earth and in space.

Borisov, who will be embarking on his first ever space mission, said: "I'm looking forward to coping with all the tasks. This is a very interesting profession: you are preparing for something that you haven't tried yet, and you really want to do it well."

This is also Moghbeli's first space mission. During a media call last month, the American astronaut said, "This is something I've wanted to do for as long as I can remember."

"One of the things I'm most excited about is looking back at our beautiful planet," she said, adding, "Everyone who I've talked to who has flown already has said that was a life-changing perspective -- and also floating around in space, it seems really fun."

NASA scientist Dr Michelle Thaller proposed an interesting theory that hints at the existence of aliens on Venus, a planet that faces&nbsp;scorching 475°C (900°F) temperatures and remains enveloped in a thick acidic atmosphere. 
 
However, as per claims by Dr&nbsp;Thaller, the aliens are most likely hiding&nbsp;on Venus and are staying there amid conditions that are unbearable for humans. 
 
The new theory was proposed by Dr. Michelle Thaller, who works as a research scientist at the US-based Goddard Space Flight Centre. 
 
She stated that “possible signs of life” were already noticed within the carbon-dioxide-filled atmosphere, and added that she is certain about the existence of life somewhere.

“We see possible signs of life in the atmosphere of Venus,” said Dr. Thaller, in an interview with The Sun. “I never expected Venus. Venus is now one where we see something in the atmosphere that looks very much like it could be produced by bacteria,” he added.

<h2>Humans cannot survive on Venus</h2>

Venus has been often called 'Earth's twin' because of its similar structure and size. However, their conditions cannot be further apart, as astronomers say it is impossible for human beings to survive on Venus. 
 
Professor Dominic Papineau, who works as an astrobiologist at the University College of London, feels that the views of Dr. Thaller are 'difficult to realistically hypothesise'. 
 
“For life-related chemical reactions to take place, liquid water is necessary. Hence, to find extraterrestrial life, we need to find liquid water, and to find extraterrestrial fossils requires looking for sedimentary rocks that were associated with liquid water in the past,” said the professor, while speaking to MailOnline.

However, both Professor Papineau and Dr Thaller agreed that the solar system's icy moons can also be sites of potential microbial life. NASA suggested that our solar system has 290 'traditional Moons', which excludes 462 smaller asteroids and minor planets. 
 
“More likely we could find extraterrestrial life and/or fossils on Mars and in the icy moons of the outer solar system,” said Professor Papineau. 
 
“This is because liquid water exists on those planetary bodies, including within ice at the Martian south pole. Mars and icy moons also have a geological record that might preserve fossils,” he added.

America's premier space agency NASA is currently busy honing one of its&nbsp;crafts. Scientists preparing to examine Martian rocks are using rocks from the Isle of Rum in Scotland to practise various testing methods.&nbsp;

According to a BBC report, Rum's igneous rocks have similar geological, mineral and chemical content to those found on Mars. Nasa's Perseverance Rover, launched in 2020, is currently busy collecting rocks&nbsp;in the Séítah Formation within the Jezero crater on Mars. These rocks are expected to be brought back to Earth by&nbsp;2033.&nbsp;

The Martian rocks could provide clues about how the Red Planet evolved. However, to understand the clues and avoid minimal wastage, scientists are practising on rocks from Rum, the only UK site selected for sampling.&nbsp;

Dr Lydia Hallis, a geologist and planetary scientist from the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences at the University of Glasgow is currently leading the 'Rum' sampling with the help of&nbsp;the NatureScot National Nature Reserve (NNR).&nbsp;

Lesley Watt, NatureScot’s Rum NNR reserve manager said it was 'fascinating' to learn more about the NASA/ESA mission and how the island was playing a small part in "this truly historic endeavour to find out more about Mars".

“With its extinct volcanoes and dramatic mountains, Rum has always been one of the best places to discover Scotland’s world-class geology, but we didn’t quite realise that the rocks here were of interplanetary significance as well," said Watt.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, Hallis said,&nbsp;“These Rum rocks are an excellent comparison to a specific geologic unit on Mars, the igneous Seitah Formation within the Jezero crater — which is characterised by the mineral olivine, and which the Nasa Perseverance Rover explored and sampled."

Hallis added that although the rocks on Rum were younger geologically, the exposure to Scottish elements had produced roughly the same amount of weathering as produced in the rocks on Mars.&nbsp;

Halfway into the year 2023, countries across the world have already been witnessing erratic climatic events.&nbsp;As the threat of global warming breaching historic records looms large, the US government climate experts have warned there is a 50 per cent chance that 2023 will be the warmest year ever recorded and predicted that next year could be even hotter.

"2023 to date has been the third warmest on record," National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) chief scientist Sarah Kapnick told reporters on Monday (Aug 14).

"It is virtually certain—over 99 per cent chance—that 2023 will rank among the five warmest years on record with a nearly 50 per cent probability that 2023 will rank warmest on record," Kapnick said.

The director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, Gavin Schmidt, said that the presence of El Nino over the Pacific could further drive up the temperatures next year.

"The biggest impact of El Niño will actually occur in 2024," Schmidt said.

<h2>Next year to be even hotter</h2>

"So, we're anticipating that not only is 2023 going to be exceptionally warm and possibly a record warm year, but we anticipate that 2024 will be warmer still."

On Monday, both NOAA and NASA said that July was the hottest month on record for Earth since the record-keeping began 174 years ago.

Both global sea-surface and land temperatures soared well above longstanding averages.

Since July is climatologically the hottest month of the year, this year's numbers likely mean it was the hottest month on record overall, NOAA said in a news release.

In a separate release issued on Tuesday (Aug 15), NASA said scientists at its Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York determined that "July 2023 was hotter than any other month in the global temperature record."

July was so hot that the United Nations officials announced it would likely break the planet's monthly record before the month was even over.

"July 2023 marked the 47th-consecutive July and the 533rd-consecutive month with temperatures at least nominally above the 20th-century average," the agency said.

Parts of South America, North Africa, North America, and the Antarctic Peninsula were especially hot&nbsp;during which temperatures increased&nbsp;around 4 degrees Celsius above average.

NASA said that the ocean temperatures were especially warm in the eastern tropical Pacific due to the advent of El Nino which began developing in May 2023.

NASA's Voyager spacecraft is exploring the ever-expanding universe. The twin Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft are making their way through interstellar space. These spacecraft are, however, running low on energy. This raises a question: How much longer will it last?

Originally, NASA had pinned hopes on Voyager 2 probe resetting itself in October. The mission controllers took 37 hours to figure out if the interstellar command sent by them had worked since Voyager 2 was almost billions of miles away from Earth.

After the probe lost the communications, it was not able to send back data to Nasa's Deep Space Network and receive commands. However, the space agency confirmed on August 4 that the data was received by the spacecraft and it was normally operating. 
 
NASA has said that the spacecraft, which is laden with science instruments, should stay on its planned trajectory in the universe.

<h2>Search for Voyager 2</h2>

The space agency on Monday (July 31) said that its huge dish in Canberra, the capital of Australia, was making efforts to detect any stray signals from Voyager 2. This happened when NASA was able to hear the first faint "heartbeat" signal. 
 
The area of Voyager 2 was being bombarded by the antenna with the correct command, hoping to establish contact somehow, said NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which looks after the Voyager missions. 
 
The probe has been programmed for resetting its position multiple times every year to ensure that its antenna is pointing at Earth. The next reset will take place on October 15, on which NASA was resting its hopes if all other attempts had failed.

NASA noted in a statement that "Herbig-Haro 46/47 is an important object to study because it is relatively young – only a few thousand years old".&nbsp;

As the space agency elaborated on the details of the image it shared, users were quick to focus on a strange celestial object after zooming in towards the bottom centre of the infrared photo. They found the shape of a "question mark".&nbsp;

NASA didn't mention anything about the so-called question mark. But to get a better understanding, Space.com spoke to some experts.&nbsp;

As quoted by the outlet, representatives of the Space Telescope Science Institute, which manages the telescope's science operations, said that "it is probably a distant galaxy, or potentially interacting galaxies (their interactions may have caused the distorted question mark shape)".&nbsp;

And the institute said that since it appears red in the observation, it's quite far away.&nbsp;

The representatives added: "This may be the first time we've seen this particular object. An additional follow-up would be required to figure out what it is with any certainty. Webb is showing us many new, distant galaxies — so there's a lot of new science to be done!"&nbsp;

The outlet also quoted Matt Caplan, who is an assistant professor of physics at Illinois State University.&nbsp;

Caplan told the outlet that it "could easily be merging galaxies in the background, with the upper part of the question mark being part of a larger galaxy getting tidally disrupted".&nbsp;

He said, "Given the colour of some of the other background galaxies, this doesn't seem like the worst explanation. Despite how chaotic mergers are, double-lobed objects with curvy tails extending away from them are very typical."
