The Resolution Foundation claimed that when combined with the tax cuts promised during her leadership campaign, the prime minister's energy plan, which was unveiled only hours before word of the Queen's passing last week, would come with a "colossal" price tag for taxpayers.&nbsp;

According to the report, the government's "energy price guarantee" and national insurance cuts would provide the richest tenth of UK households with an average of £4,700 in support, compared to just £2,200 for the typical home in the bottom tenth.

The intervention comes at a time when the specifics of the new prime minister's plan to assist suffering households are still unknown because she decided to wait until a mini-budget, which is anticipated to take place next week, to release the costs associated with her proposal.&nbsp;

Biden and Truss talked about strengthening the relationship between both countries, cooperating on NATO and the US-Australia-UK agreement.

The UK's new PM, being a member of parliament, had presented legislation to repeal the Northern Ireland Protocol, a part of Britain’s withdrawal agreement from the European Union.

However, US President Joe Biden has insisted that Britain take no action that may damage 25 years of peace in Northern Ireland, AFP reported.

However, before Patel & co. could send the first deportation flight, it was grounded due to legal challenges. The incident happened in June and since then, not a single deportation has taken place as the case lingers on in the UK courts. According to Patel's close aides, the tweet liking by the foreign office was indicative of the official view it had taken on the issue as multiple bottlenecks ensured that her plan never really got off the ground. An avowed Thatcherite, Patel has made several comebacks in the past. She was sacked in 2017 by then PM Theresa May as international development secretary for holding unsanctioned meetings with the Israeli president. However, two years later in 2019, she landed the top job in Boris Johnson's cabinet. She narrowly avoided another bout of sacking after accusations came to the fore of her bullying the civil servants. Despite her name constantly doing the rounds in the names of ministers to be demoted in a cabinet reshuffle, Patel managed to hold her job. She is the most socially conservative of Johnson's senior ministers, voting against introducing same-sex marriage and remaining fiercely loyal to the former PM even when a flood of resignations ensued around him.
