Chinese embassy in Kathmandu and Chinese foreign ministry are tight-lipped about Chinese delegation's visit to Kathmandu, said the media report in My Reporter.

Earlier this week, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yanqi, had communicated about the visit of Guo to Kathmandu during her meetings with senior NCP leaders of both the Prachanda- and Oli-led factions.

Vice Minister Guo is scheduled to hold meetings with the leaders of both factions.

Beijing appears concerned over the move of Oli to dissolve the House of Representatives and the evolving political situation that saw a vertical split in the NCP. Shortly after the dissolution of the House, the Chinese ambassador expedited her meetings with top political leadership in Nepal.

Hou has already held meetings with President Bhandari, senior NCP leaders Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal, former House speakers Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Barsha Man Pun, among others.

This is not the first time that China has intervened in Nepal's internal affairs at a time of crisis.

"I fear there will be more political instability," said Bhimarjun Acharya, a constitutional lawyer.

Oli has lost support within his Nepal Communist Party (NCP) over recent months, with some members accusing him of ignoring them when making policy decisions and appointments.

They had called on Oli to step down.

Diplomatic sources in Kathmandu said the dissolution was a last resort to safeguard Oli's political career after he lost majority support in the party.

"The dissolution of parliament and fresh elections were not my choice," Oli said in his first comments on television after the decision. It was aimed at taking the country out of a "state of inaction," he said.

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on Sunday set April 30 and May 10 as dates for the general election on the advice of Oli's cabinet.

But court hearings on petitions against the dissolution were set to begin this week.

The 275-member House of Representatives, which is the lower house of Parliament, was elected in 2017. The upper house is National Assembly.

The move comes as the intra-party feud reached climax in the ruling NCP which has been witnessing months long tussle between two factions, one led by 68-year-old Oli and Party's chairman and another led by 66-year-old Prachanda, also the executive chair of the party and former premier.&nbsp;

Oli, who led an alliance with former Maoist rebels to a landslide victory in 2017, has faced criticism for sidelining his Nepal Communist Party and working through a small coterie of supporters.

Oli and Prachanda both are co-chairmen of the party and both factions are currently at loggerheads. Oli has categorically refused to step down.

However, Oli faction is numerically weak in the 43-member standing committee.

As per reports, the standing committee was going to discuss corruption allegations against Oli levelled by the Prachanda camp in the meeting on Sunday. This may have resulted in renewed demands for Oli's resignation.

A pro-monarch march was held in the capital Kathmandu on Saturday where hundreds took to the streets with national flags to extend their support to a constitutional monarchy.

Hundreds of monarch supporters took to the streets in a pre-organised and well-advertised rally on December 5 demanding the reinstatement of constitutional monarchy and declare Nepal a Hindu state.

Participants of Saturday's massive rally chanted slogans in favour of the Hindu monarchy and demanded the reinstatement of constitutional monarchy in the Himalayan Nation which they claimed was for the sake of country`s national unity and well-being of the people.

"Today, participants are here without being driven by any impulsive feelings, as the movement led by youths has already set off. We can dream of our beautiful Nepal and this nation would obviously get back its monarch status of a Hindu-state. Until and unless we achieve our aim we would fight for it," Amir KC, one of the participants in the march who claimed to be leading over 250 youths from Lalitpur to the venue told ANI.

Saturday's demonstration comes as a series of similar protests were held in the past month for a constitutional monarchy.

On November 10, a group with banner "Nationalist Civic Society" staged a demonstration in Jamal of Kathmandu, demanding restoration of constitutional monarchy and announce Nepal a Hindu state. Two days later, a group named Nepal Scholar Council held a demonstration in Biratnagar with the same demands.

Again on November 19, another group under the banner "Independent Nationalist Citizens Far-West" demonstrated in Dhangadhi followed by a protest in Pokhara on November 25 under the banner "Western Nepali Citizens" and "Nepal Nationalist Group" in Janakpur of Nepal.

The trend of staging demonstrations in other parts of the country also continued to rise as a similar protest was held in Hetauda on 29 November under the banner "Restoration of Constitution Movement" and another protest on 30 November in Kathmandu itself.

Saturday's demonstration was held under banner of Rashtriya Nagarik Andolan Samiti 2077 (National Civic Movement Committee 2020).

Similar kind of protest was planned by Rastriya Prajatantra Party in Jhapa hometown of incumbent Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in support of the monarch and monarchy.

Observers in Kathmandu claim movement to reinstate the monarch has arisen due to failed attempts of current political parties to cater to public interest.

Many people on social media, including Facebook and Twitter, commented that the Prime Minister's office deliberately removed the updated map after his meeting with India's Research and Analysis Wing (R&amp;AW) chief Samant Kumar Goel.

"How can we consider using Nepal's old map in the PM's greeting without incorporating Limpiyadhura as a simple error?" asked main Opposition Nepali Congress spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma.

Many people in their social media posts asked why did the prime minister's office remove the government's coat of arms from the map which includes Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyadhura.

In response to the criticism, Prime Minister's Press Advisor Surya Thapa in a statement claimed that the revised map was used in the prime minister's message, but was not visible due to its tiny size.

"It is natural for the map to appear in such a manner due to its tiny size but the same map, if enlarged, may clearly show the updated areas,"&nbsp;he claimed.

He also asked the people not to be misled by such pre-planned efforts to spread rumours about the map included in the greetings.

"There should not be any confusion that the map used in the greetings is the updated version which was endorsed by Nepal's Parliament," Thapa said.

The Press Advisor in his press note issued through social media also included an enlarged version of the map, which clearly shows the map which includes all the three territories.

It's a combination of demos -- the root word for democracy, and genocide -- the deliberate killing of large groups of people.&nbsp;

Nepal's citizens say this word -- 'democide' perfectly describes the state of affairs in their country. They are censuring Oli for peddling dubious remedies, such as turmeric as a cure for the coronavirus.

They are mocking him for comparing COVID-19 with the common flu. Some others are blaming him for imposing ill-thoughtout restrictions that have left many people struggling for a daily meal.

And some are questioning the state of Nepal's economy -- where thousands are at risk of losing their jobs due to the lockdown.

So China has pulled another dirty trick.

According to reports, the Chinese embassy has funded an NGO based in Kathmandu to conduct a study on the motivation behind the Gorkha community joining the Indian army.

The intention is clear -- brainwash the Gorkha community and stop them from joining the Indian army.

The Nepal government too has on several occassions called this practice a legacy of the past. Reports say Kathmandu has been trying to renegotiate this recruitment pact since July this year.&nbsp;

However, they have denied the cost of gold that will be needed to depict a new map and the secretariat is also unwilling to pay for the additional gold. &nbsp;
