Hunter Biden in July pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to pay taxes on more than USD 1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018 despite owing more than USD 100,000. He did not enter a plea in a separate case where he was charged with unlawfully owning a firearm while using illegal drugs, which is a felony.

Russia on Tuesday started consumer testing of its new e-currency, the digital rouble. Utilising blockchain technology, the nation, which has for&nbsp;almost 540 days been&nbsp;engaged in a war with neighbouring nation Ukraine, intends to bypass international sanctions and also tighten control over its citizens.

This testing phase of the digital Rouble coincides with the Russian currency falling to its lowest position against the dollar since March 2022 — a month after the launch of its military campaign in Ukraine.

<h2>Strategic evasion</h2>

AFP reports that while Russia has been contemplating the launch of a digital currency for years, its inception actually gained momentum after Western sanctions on the nation's access to the global banking system.

Joining the ranks of 20 other nations globally, Russia's launch of the digital currency pilot phase aims to make its financial system more flexible while limiting the impact of international sanctions.

Speaking to the news agency, Mikkel Morch, founder of crypto-focused investment fund ARK36, said,&nbsp;"It will enhance Russia's ability to evade sanctions".

<h2>Russia and sanctions</h2>

Following the launch of its military offensive, Russia was at the receiving end of many sanctions, including ones that banned many Russian banks from the main system used for international transactions. This put Moscow in a vulnerable position and pushed the nation towards innovating ways to 'de-dollarise'.

Morch said that the digital currency will help Russia bypass banks and restrictions. Blockchain is "much less easy to sanction and attack," he said, adding that the launch is "part of a geopolitical war between pro-dollar countries and anti-dollar countries".

<h2>Concerns and more</h2>

As per Morch, the launch will give the government "immense control" over citizens and it could be used as "the ultimate social control tool."

Meanwhile, some NGOs have also voiced their concerns. AFP reports that the Atlantic Council has&nbsp;warned: "In the wrong hands, this data could be used to spy on citizens' private transactions."

Russians too are reportedly not convinced and remain sceptical. A survey by state-owned pollster VCIOM revealed that approximately six out of ten Russians have a "weak understanding" of the government's motives and are hesitant to embrace the currency.

US allocates arms worth $200 million to help Ukraine counter 'Russia's ongoing war of aggression'

The race for White House is heating up Republicans in the US. Congress are moving towards opening an impeachment inquiry against US President Joe Biden. On Friday, Greg Steube from Florida jumped ahead of his colleagues and introduced articles on impeachment against Biden for high crimes.

US Congressman Greg Steube moves to impeach President Biden | World DNA

The United States Republican lawmaker from the state of Florida, Greg Steube announced that he has filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on Friday (August 11) for “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Republican lawmakers’ new bid to impeach the incumbent comes as House Republicans continue to investigate Biden and the business dealings of his son, Hunter Biden.&nbsp;

<h2>New impeachment articles filed against US president</h2>

In a statement, Steube’s office said he filed the articles against the president “for high crimes and misdemeanors.” The four articles filed feature accusations of abuse of power, bribery, extortion and honest services fraud; obstruction of justice; fraud; and financial involvement in drug and prostitution activities.&nbsp;

The allegations stemmed from claims of illegal business dealings and tax crimes. “It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” said the Florida Republican lawmaker’s office. He added, “He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the Presidency, betrayed his trust as President, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America’s citizens.”&nbsp;

Earlier this year, Steube announced his backing for former US President Donald Trump for his 2024 White House bid and said he is the only one who can fix the “disastrous policies of the Biden administration,” as quoted by The Hill.&nbsp;

During an interview with Newsmax, on Thursday, he also referred to various investigations that House Republicans have conducted since gaining the majority and also spoke about Hunter Biden’s former business partner Devon Archer’s recent testimony.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, Archer told the House Oversight Committee that Hunter Biden had repeatedly put his father, who was vice president at the time, on calls during his business dealings. However, Archer also denied on multiple occasions that the incumbent president had been a part of the discussions.&nbsp;

<h2>Previous impeachment articles against Biden</h2>

The recent filings were not the Republican lawmakers’ first attempt to impeach Biden, as Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, back in May, also introduced articles to get the incumbent president out of the White House.

At the time, Greene introduced articles of impeachment against Biden for his handling of migrant crossings along the US-Mexico border, saying that he “deliberately compromised” national security by refusing to enforce immigration laws and secure the border.&nbsp;

She also alleged that Biden allowed approximately six million illegals from over 160 countries to “invade” the country, depriving the border patrol &nbsp;– Customs and Border Protection (CBP) – of the necessary resources and policies sufficient to protect the US.&nbsp;

US: Florida Republican lawmaker files articles of impeachment against Biden for ‘high crimes’

President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden may be headed for a criminal trial, U.S. Special Counsel David Weiss said shortly after promotion into that role on Friday, in a sign that courtroom drama could play an outsized role in the 2024 presidential election.

A potential trial raises the possibility of an unprecedented spectacle in U.S. history: The son of a sitting president facing criminal charges while his father campaigns for re-election, likely against Republican Donald Trump, who faces at least three upcoming criminal trials of his own.&nbsp;

Republicans in the House of Representatives are also threatening an impeachment inquiry into unproven claims that President Biden benefitted from his 54-year-old son's business ventures.

Weiss, who has been investigating Hunter Biden since 2019, filed misdemeanour criminal tax and gun charges in June, but a federal judge refused to accept a proposed plea deal.

Weiss said in a court filing on Friday that talks between the two sides have since broken down. "The Government now believes that the case will not resolve short of a trial," he wrote.

The filing came moments after U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland elevated Weiss to special counsel status, giving him additional authority and independence to pursue the investigation.

Hunter Biden in July pleaded not guilty to charges of failing to pay taxes on more than $1.5 million in income in 2017 and 2018 despite owing more than $100,000. He did not enter a plea deal in a separate case where he is charged with unlawfully owning a firearm while using illegal drugs, which is a felony.

<h2>Trump appointee&nbsp;</h2>

Weiss was originally appointed to his position as U.S. Attorney for Delaware by Trump and was allowed to stay on during the Biden administration.

As a special counsel, Weiss will be free from day-to-day supervision from the Justice Department and file charges anywhere in the United States. Garland can overrule his proposed actions but must notify Congress if he does so.

Weiss said he might bring different charges against Hunter Biden in Washington or California, where the alleged criminal conduct took place.

A lawyer for Hunter Biden said he expected Weiss not to bend to political pressures.

"Whether in Delaware, Washington, D.C. or anywhere else, we expect a fair resolution not infected by politics and we’ll do what is necessary on behalf of Mr. Biden to achieve that,” lawyer Chris Clark said in a statement.

Weiss will produce a report when his work is done, Garland said, and the Justice Department will make as much of it public as is possible.

"The appointment of Mr. Weiss reinforces for the American people the department's commitment to both independence and accountability in particularly sensitive matters," Garland told a press conference.

Republicans have accused the elder Biden of profiting from his son's business ventures in Ukraine and China, though they have yet to produce any evidence of wrongdoing. House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in July that the chamber might launch an impeachment inquiry in the autumn.

The White House declined to comment. Biden officials have previously dismissed Republican allegations as "insane conspiracy theories" and has said that Biden did not participate in his son's business affairs.

Hunter Biden has been a focus of several Republican congressional committees.

One former associate told the House Oversight Committee that Hunter gave an impression that he emphasized his family ties while he was doing business in Ukraine nearly a decade ago, while his father was vice president. That witness, Devon Archer, said Hunter spoke with his father daily but said the conversations did not involve business dealings.

Trump also has frequently mentioned the younger Biden in an attempt to tar his father as the two gear up for a possible rematch in the 2024 presidential election. His spokesperson Stephen Cheung said Weiss should "quickly conclude" that Biden and his son "should face the required consequences."

A June Reuters/Ipsos poll found half of Americans, including 75% of Republicans and 33% of Democrats, believed the younger Biden received preferential treatment from Weiss. But most said that would not affect their vote next year.

Hunter Biden could face criminal trial, newly named US special counsel says

The death toll in the Maui wildfires has soared to 55, with over 1,000 buildings turning into smouldering ruins, officials said.

Among the worst affected is the resort town of Lahaina, where more than 270 structures were destroyed or damaged.

Lahaina is one of Maui's prime attractions, drawing two&nbsp;million tourists each year, or about 80 per cent of the island's visitors.

Officials said that about 80 per cent of the fast-spreading wildfire has been contained.

"As firefighting efforts continue, 17 additional fatalities have been confirmed today amid the active Lahaina fire" as of 1:10 pm&nbsp;local time, Maui County said on Thursday (Aug 10). "This brings the death toll to 53 people."

<h2>Fatalities to rise further&nbsp;</h2>

Hawaii Governor Josh Green pegs the fatalities to increase further as search and rescue operations continue.

Officials say that the wildfire that began on Tuesday is on the verge of becoming the state’s deadliest natural disaster since a 1961 tsunami killed 61 people on the Big Island.

“We are heartsick,” Green told the AP news agency.

A state of emergency has been declared for the whole island, while all non-essential travel to the popular vacation destination has been discouraged.

Though the exact cause of the wildfire is yet to be ascertained, reports say that the brushfires on Maui's west coast first broke out on August 8 and rapidly spread to the seaside town of Lahaina.

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden declared the Hawaii wildfires a "major disaster," and ordered federal funds to aid Maui town.

A man from Utah, US, who had threatened to assassinate President Joe Biden was shot dead by FBI agents when they raided his house.

Ahead of Biden’s visit to the state on Wednesday (Aug 8), the FBI landed at Craig Robertson’s house around 6:15 am to serve arrest and search warrants for his residence&nbsp;in Provo, a city south of Salt Lake City.&nbsp;

Biden is scheduled to fly to&nbsp;Utah&nbsp;late on Wednesday

The investigative officers said that Robertson, who is said to be in his 70s and an ardent Donald Trump supporter, owned “a sniper rifle” and several other firearms.

Robertson was booked on three charges, including threats against the president as well as influencing, impeding and retaliating against federal law enforcement officers by threat.

<h2>Ardent Trump supporter&nbsp;&nbsp;</h2>

According to court documents, Robertson made references to “presidential assassination” on his Facebook post and threatened a prosecutor pursuing criminal charges against Donald Trump.

His latest Facebook post was on Monday (Aug 7) where he said that he heard Biden was coming to Utah and he was planning to dig out a camouflage suit and “clean the dust off the m24 sniper rifle”, according to court documents.

In another post, Robertson referred to himself as a “MAGA Trumper”, a reference to former US president Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.

Robertson also made threats to Vice President Kamala Harris and US Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Man who threatened to assassinate US President Joe Biden killed by FBI

United States President Joe Biden has signed an executive order that seeks to prevent certain American investments in China, especially in sensitive technology and requires prior government approval for funding in other tech sectors.

The long-anticipated move, which could further strain bilateral ties, directs the US Treasury Secretary to narrow down investments in quantum computing, artificial intelligence and advanced semiconductors.

In a letter to Congress on Wednesday (Aug 9), Biden said he was declaring a national emergency to deal with the threat of advancement by countries like China "in sensitive technologies and products critical to the military, intelligence, surveillance, or cyber-enabled capabilities."

Strides by China in these areas constitute "an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security of the United States" and certain US investments "risk exacerbating this threat," the order said, according to Reuters news agency.

<h2>Crippling China's semiconductor industry&nbsp;</h2>

The order seeks to tighten the screws on China’s semiconductor industry, which is heavily reliant on foreign-made equipment to design chips and tools to manufacture them.

Beijing has been working to cultivate its nascent domestic industry and has been investing a lot to build solid fabrication plants, known as fabs—a field dominated by US, Japan and the Netherlands.

The Biden administration argues that these prohibitions were intended to address "the most acute" national security risks and not to separate the two countries’ highly interdependent economies.

Meanwhile, the move has drawn mixed reactions, with the Democratic party hailing the decision, and the Republicans saying that the prohibitions should have included other areas.

<h2>Democrats hail decision, Republicans say more needs to be done</h2>

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said, "For too long, American money has helped fuel the Chinese military’s rise. Today, the United States is taking a strategic first step to ensure American investment does not go to fund Chinese military advancement."

He said that Congress must enshrine restrictions in law and refine them.

Meanwhile, the Republicans said the Biden order did not go far enough.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul praised the move to restrict new outbound investments in China but said: "The failure to include existing technology investments as well as sectors like biotechnology and energy is concerning."

Biden administration curbs US investments in Chinese tech sectors

United States President Joe Biden on Wednesday (August 9) signed an executive order that would prohibit American investments in China in sensitive technologies such as computer chips and require government notification in other tech sectors.

United States President Joe Biden on Wednesday (August 9) signed an executive order that would prohibit American investments in China in sensitive technologies such as computer chips and require government notification in other tech sectors. On Thursday, the Chinese government said it was gravely concerned about the order and that it reserves the right to take measures. In a letter to Congress, President Biden said that he was declaring a national emergency to deal with the threat of advancement by countries like China "in sensitive technologies and products critical to the military, intelligence, surveillance or cyber-enabled capabilities." The executive order is expected to be implemented next year. "The Order directs the Secretary of the Treasury to establish a program to prohibit or require notification of certain types of outbound investments by United States persons into certain entities located in or subject to the jurisdiction of a country of concern, and certain other entities owned by persons of a country of concern, involved in specific categories of advanced technologies and products," an official statement from the Treasury said on Wednesday. "In an Annex to the Order, the President identified the People’s Republic of China, along with the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau, as a country of concern," the statement added. Who's targeted in the executive order? The executive order authorises the US Treasury Secretary to prohibit or restrict American investments in three sectors: semiconductors and microelectronics, quantum information technologies and certain artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The Biden administration said the restrictions would apply to "narrow subsets" of the three areas but did not elaborate. "Among other things, Treasury seeks input on the sub-sets of national security technologies and products related to semiconductors, quantum information technology, and artificial intelligence systems," another statement from the Treasury read. The statement said that the US benefits from an open investment climate and the new measure would not change that. "It is narrowly targeted at investments in highly sensitive technologies and products for the purposes of protecting US national security," it added. The order aims to prevent American capital and expertise from helping China develop technologies that could support its military modernisation and undermine US national security. The measure targets private equity, venture capital, joint ventures and greenfield investments. "This narrowly targeted action will complement our existing export control and inbound investment screening tools, and protect our national security while maintaining our longstanding commitment to open investment," the statement also said. Regulations to only affect future investments The White House said Biden consulted allies on the plan and incorporated feedback from the Group of Seven (G7) nations. On Wednesday, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said, "For too long, American money has helped fuel the Chinese military’s rise. Today the United States is taking a strategic first step to ensure American investment does not go to fund Chinese military advancement." The US Treasury pointed out that the regulations would only affect future investments and not the existing ones. Officials insisted the prohibitions were intended to address the most acute national security risks and not to separate the two countries' highly independent economies. However, the Republican party said the executive order was rife with loopholes and was not aggressive enough. Exemptions expected The US Treasury said that it anticipates exempting "certain transactions, including potentially those in publicly traded instruments and intracompany transfers from US parents to subsidiaries." "Treasury welcomes comments and views from a wide range of stakeholders on all aspects of how the Secretary should implement this new program. Treasury will take this input into account as it develops draft regulations, including refining the definitions of key terms, setting forth the notification requirements, and establishing the penalty and enforcement processes for violations, among other things," Wednesday's statement further said. How has China reacted to the executive order? China's commerce ministry said on Thursday that the executive order affected the normal operation and decision-making of enterprises, and undermines the international economic and trade order. The ministry said it hoped that Washington would respect the laws of the market economy and the principle of fair competition and refrain from "artificially hindering global economic and trade exchanges and cooperation, or set up obstacles for the recovery of the world economy". The foreign ministry said that Beijing was "strongly dissatisfied" with and "resolutely" opposes Washington's insistence on introducing investment restrictions on China, having also lodged solemn representations with the US. China urged the US to fulfil Biden's promise of no intention to decouple from China or obstruct China's economic development, the ministry added. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the Chinese embassy told Reuters on Thursday the White House had not heeded "China’s repeated expression of deep concerns" about the plan. Pointing out that more than 70,000 American companies do business in China, the spokesperson said that the restrictions would hurt both Chinese and American businesses, interfere with normal cooperation and reduce investor confidence in the US. The US Secret Service has told President Joe Biden the name of the person who brought cocaine into the White House last month, according to a report by Soldier of Fortune last Sunday (August 6). A white substance was discovered in the White House library on July 2. <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/discovery-of-cocaine-in-white-house-library-prompts-secret-service-investigation-611984">An investigation was launched</a> and a preliminary field test conducted on this substance yielded positive results for cocaine.

The investigation was closed on July 13 due to lack of evidence.&nbsp;

<h2>'Biden knows who the person is'</h2>

However, citing three security sources, the Soldier of Fortune report said that investigators are aware of who brought cocaine (into the White House) and so does President Biden. “If you want the name, ask Joe Biden. He knows who it is," one of the sources told the magazine.

The magazine directly messaged Biden about the claims. "Three trusted sources tell me the Secret Service gave you the name of the person who brought the cocaine into the Executive Mansion. Is this true; and if so, can you please confirm the name? If you know the name and are not revealing it, please explain why," the magazine's publisher Susan Katz Keating messaged Biden.&nbsp;

However, the message bounced back as undelivered, the report added.

<h3>WION cannot independently verify the claims of the mentioned magazine.&nbsp;</h3>

When cocaine was found inside the White House premises, observers speculated the drug belonged to President Biden's son Hunter, the report said. However, another security source told the magazine, “It was someone within the Biden family orbit, and it wasn’t Hunter.”

On July 7, Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, asked Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to provide “a staff-level briefing” on the cocaine issue.

The presence of illegal drugs in the White House is unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House’s history. The US Secret Service has told President Joe Biden the name of the person who brought cocaine into the White House last month, according to a report by Soldier of Fortune last Sunday (August 6).

The US Secret Service has told President Joe Biden the name of the person who brought cocaine into the White House last month, according to a report by Soldier of Fortune last Sunday (August 6). A white substance was discovered in the White House library on July 2. An investigation was launched and a preliminary field test conducted on this substance yielded positive results for cocaine. The investigation was closed on July 13 due to lack of evidence. 'Biden knows who the person is' However, citing three security sources, the Soldier of Fortune report said that investigators are aware of who brought cocaine (into the White House) and so does President Biden. “If you want the name, ask Joe Biden. He knows who it is," one of the sources told the magazine. The magazine directly messaged Biden about the claims. "Three trusted sources tell me the Secret Service gave you the name of the person who brought the cocaine into the Executive Mansion. Is this true; and if so, can you please confirm the name? If you know the name and are not revealing it, please explain why," the magazine's publisher Susan Katz Keating messaged Biden. However, the message bounced back as undelivered, the report added. WION cannot independently verify the claims of the mentioned magazine. When cocaine was found inside the White House premises, observers speculated the drug belonged to President Biden's son Hunter, the report said. However, another security source told the magazine, “It was someone within the Biden family orbit, and it wasn’t Hunter.” On July 7, Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, asked Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to provide “a staff-level briefing” on the cocaine issue. The presence of illegal drugs in the White House is unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House’s history. According to a senior law-enforcement official, the cocaine was found in a storage facility that is “routinely used by White House staff and guests to store cell phones,” Comer said in his letter to Cheatle. "This alarming development requires the Committee to assess White House security practices and determine whose failures led to an evacuation of the building and finding of the illegal substance," the letter also said. 'Heartless': Family members of US soldiers who died in Kabul rip into Joe Biden

A recent damning report published by Parents Defending Education (PDE) has revealed Chinese financial influence over US public schools. The report mentioned that China channelled nearly $18 million in funding to US schools, particularly those located in the vicinity of 20 US military bases.

The Chinese influence programme specifically focuses on children aged between five and six, the report added.

“Three of the nation’s top science and technology high schools have ties to Chinese government-affiliated programs,” PDE warned in its research.

These included the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Simpson County Public Schools in Kentucky and the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, Express reported.

<h2>Republican leaders sound the warning bell</h2>

A number of Republican Representatives and Senators are now demanding the Biden administration “wake up” on the issue and realise how ‘China was trying to influence the upcoming American generation.’

Jim Banks, the Republican Representative for Indiana, wrote a letter to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, demanding these “disturbing” partnerships be terminated.

“The Chinese Communist Party is not a trustworthy partner. Accepting funding and influence from our greatest adversary is a threat to America’s children and national security," he wrote in the letter.

<h2>Role of Chinese Confucius Institutions</h2>

The report added that the funding came via Chinese Confucius institutions, through which the communist nation allegedly "promotes Chinese language and culture, supports local Chinese teaching internationally, and facilitates cultural exchanges".

However, concerns have been raised in Western nations over the alleged role of these Confucius institutions in promoting China’s covert espionage operations on foreign soil.

United States President Joe Biden, in a historic move, signed an order on Friday reshaping the way the United States military probes the cases of sexual assault by shifting the power from the unit commanders to independent prosecutors.

The order transfers key decision-making authorities from commanders to specialised, independent military prosecutors in cases of sexual assault, domestic violence, murder, and other serious offences by amending the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).

This executive order published by the White House, will put an and to the pressure from the advocates of the victims in order to guarantee better accountability within the ranks, despite the aversion to change from the military top brass.&nbsp;

The order officially implements the changes passed by Congress in the Fiscal Year 2022's National Defense Authorization Act (FY22 NDAA).&nbsp;

The administration dubs it as “the most significant transformation of the military justice system since the UCMJ was established in 1950.”

"These reforms are a turning point for survivors of gender-based violence in the military. They fulfill President Biden’s promise to fundamentally shift how the military justice system responds to sexual assault and related crimes, which is something President Biden has prioritized since Day One of this administration. Ending gender-based violence wherever it occurs has been a top priority for the President throughout his career, as a Senator, and as Vice President," the White House said.&nbsp;

"As Commander in Chief, he’s made clear that our one truly sacred obligation as a nation is to prepare and equip those we send into harm’s way, and to care for them and their families both while they are deployed and when they return home. The reforms implemented through today’s Executive Order do just that, promoting dignity and respect for those who serve by better protecting our servicemembers and making the military safer and more just," it further added.

The White House said that the order takes significant action to reform the military justice system by amending the Manual for Courts-Martial and its accompanying rules for Courts-Martial that include establishing the rules that will govern the new Offices of Special Trial Counsel (OSTC), the independent military prosecutors who will now decide, in the place of commanders, whether to prosecute covered offences such as sexual assault and domestic violence, child abuse, and murder.

As per the latest Pentagon data, there were nearly 8,942 cases of sexual assault involving military personnel that were reported in the year 2022, slightly up on the previous year.&nbsp;

US President Joe Biden signs order transforming way military handles sexual assault cases

Joe Biden: 'This is not a political issue, it's a family matter'

United States First Lady Jill Biden's ex-husband Bill Stevenson, during a recent interview, has levelled allegations of intimidation against President Joe Biden and his family.

Speaking to Greg Kelly during a Newsmax TV programme on Wednesday (July 26th), he claimed that Biden is targeting former President Donald Trump, and that the "exact same thing" was once done to him.

<h2>Biden crime family</h2>

Stevenson, who in an interview with Daily Mail, had&nbsp;previously claimed that Jill cheated on him with Joe Biden, said that during his divorce with the first lady, he also faced intimidation at the hands of the president's brother Frankie Biden.

He claimed that "Frankie Biden of the Biden crime family comes up to me and he goes, 'Give her the house or you’re going to have serious problems'."

"I looked at Frankie and I said, 'Are you threatening me?' and needless to say, about two months later, my brother and I were indicted for that tax charge for $8,200."

Jill Biden's ex-husband then went on to compare his alleged troubles with the Biden family to Trump's recent legal woes and said "I can't let them do this to a president I love and respect."

<h2>Trump's legal woes</h2>

The former US president Donald Trump is currently facing a litany of charges including conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, and concealing a document in a federal investigation.&nbsp;

He is also embroiled in a civil case over sexual abuse and defamation charges that were levelled against him by columnist Carroll E Jean.

Stevenson claimed that he was on the "wrong" side of the Biden family and that "they have literally come after me for 35 years in a row."

A staunch supporter of Trump, Stevenson remarked: "It's hard to believe what they're doing to President Trump... I can't let them do this to a president I love and respect... This is the only reason I've come forward."
&nbsp;

Biden crime family Stevenson, who in an interview with Daily Mail, had previously claimed that Jill cheated on him with Joe Biden, said that during his divorce with the first lady, he also faced intimidation at the hands of the president's brother Frankie Biden. He claimed that "Frankie Biden of the Biden crime family comes up to me and he goes, 'Give her the house or you’re going to have serious problems'." Jill Biden's ex-husband then went on to compare his alleged troubles with the Biden family to Trump's recent legal woes and said "I can't let them do this to a president I love and respect." Trump's legal woes The former US president Donald Trump is currently facing a litany of charges including conspiracy to obstruct justice, withholding a document or record, corruptly concealing a document or record, and concealing a document in a federal investigation. First Lady Jill Biden's ex-husband alleges Trump being targeted by 'Biden crime family'

United States President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden admitted to a federal judge on Wednesday that he received around $600,000 from a company that was backed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which in a way contradicted claims made by his father earlier that no one in his family had ever “made money from China.”

Hunter appeared in a Delaware federal court for the very first time and denied two misdemeanour charges of deliberate negligence to pay taxes after an intended plea deal was rejected.

Prosecutors said in their proposed plea agreement with Hunter that he received $664,000 from a "Chinese infrastructure investment company," according to the official court transcript obtained by Fox News.

Hunter then confessed to Judge Maryellen Noreika that he earned $664,000 from a firm he established in the year 2017 with the chairman of the CCP-backed CEFC.

"I started a company [in 2017] called Hudson West, your Honor, and my partner was associated with a Chinese energy company called CEFC," Hunter said.

"Who was your partner?" the court asked.

"I don't know how to spell his name, Yi Jianming is the chairman of that company," Hunter responded.

"$664,000 from a Chinese infrastructure investment company, is that one of the companies we've already talked about?" the judge continued.

"I believe so, yes, your Honor," he said, before adding, "I believe CEFC."

As per Fox News reports, in the year 2020, emails were obtained that Hunter Biden had written to Zhao Runlong at CEFC extending "warmest best wishes" to Chairman Ye further hoping to see the Chairman soon.

"I hope my letter finds you well. I regret missing you on your last visit to the United States," Hunter wrote in the attached letter, dated June 17, 2017. "Please accept the best wishes from the entire Biden family as well as my partners."

"We are all hoping to see you here again soon, or in Shanghai," he added.

<h2>Joe Biden denied the accusations previously</h2>

United States President Joe Biden had previously denied making any money from a Chinese company.

"My son has not made money in terms of this thing about, what are you talking about, China," Biden told then-US President Donald Trump during the October 2020 debate.

"The only guy who made money from China is this guy," Biden said at the time, referring to Trump. "He’s the only one. Nobody else has made money from China."

The US President again denied any wrongdoings this year after the House Oversight Committee unveiled financial documents that showed the members of the Biden family getting payments of more than $1 million from deals in China and Romania respectively.&nbsp;

"That’s not true," the president had said on March 17.

Ukraine's authorities on Wednesday said they conducted a search at the home of a member of parliament, Yuriy Aristov, who allegedly violated war-time restrictions by going on holiday abroad for personal reasons.&nbsp;

Investigators found evidence suggesting that Aristov travelled to Lithuania initially for a work-related trip, but then allegedly faked sick leave to go on&nbsp;vacation in&nbsp;a luxurious hotel in the Maldives with his family.

According to the SBU security service, the Ukrainian minister disguised his travel as a "business trip," raising suspicions about his motives and actions.&nbsp;

The case came to light after a news report exposed the MP's travel, leading to strong reactions from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who expressed vehement disapproval.

Condemning the behaviour, President Zelensky on Tuesday, said,&nbsp;"For some, it's about islands and resorts during the war, for others it's about lining one's pockets in the military enlistment office, for others it's about bribes in the courts."&nbsp;

He further emphasized that "any internal betrayal, any 'breach' or any personal enrichment instead of Ukraine's interests triggers fury," and would not be tolerated.

Following the investigation, authorities have now opened a case against Yuriy Aristov, who also held the position of deputy chairman of the Committee on National Security, Defence, and Intelligence on charges of forgery.&nbsp;
