<p>It is worth mentioning here, New Shepard uses three parachutes to slow down the crew capsule as it makes its way back to Earth, although it can land with just one parachute fully deployed.</p>

<p>While the automobile and allied sectors in India have been going through a rough patch over the last year, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini’s sales have been growing at nearly 16 per cent&nbsp;in India, said Sharad Agarwal, the India Head of Lamborghini.</p>

<p>This growth is against the 18-20 per cent&nbsp;slowdown in the super luxury segment to which the brand belongs.</p>

<p>The super luxury car segment comprises players such as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, Aston Martin and top end products from German manufacturers Mercedes, BMW and Audi.</p>

<p>The brand’s latest offering - Huracan EVO RWD was unveiled in Chennai at a time when the Italian carmaker considers the five Southern Indian states its largest market in India, as more than 50 per cent of their sales are from here. “Lamborghini had sold 45 cars in India in 2018, while the number increased to 52 in 2019, thus taking the Lamborghini fleet in India to over 250. While a majority of Indian users are in the age bracket of 25-45, we also have 60-year olds who drive Lamborghinis. There has been an increase in the women users over the last few years and we expect this segment to grow” Sharad told WION.</p>

<p>The Huracan EVO RWD is a Rear-wheel drive(RWD) variant as opposed to the earlier versions that offered 4 wheel drive(4WD). The machine delivers 610hp(449kW) of power at 8,000rpm and 560Nm of torque at 6500rpm. Weighing 1,398kgs the car can get to a top speed of 325Km/h and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.3seconds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The brand claims that RWD takes the driver into the past, by increasing the bond between driver and machine, with less intervention from technology. The RWD system is said to be designed for purists, allows the driver to take full control of the experience and performance under dry, wet or snowy conditions. “As each car is designed for a certain set of users, it has its own capabilities. Certain models of ours use technology to assist the driver to get maximum performance, best lap speeds etc. But the EVO RWD is aimed at pure driving emotions for those who want to enjoy the experience with their own capability and driving skill” Agarwal said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Given the spurt in the number of makers offering E-vehicles, Lamborghini doesn’t seem to be joining the bandwagon anytime soon, save for the future mobility concept that was displayed in 2017. ”We believe that tech in EV space is not evolved to provide the driving Dynamics and emotions&nbsp;that Lamborghinis are known for. We still see it(Electric sports car) some time away,&nbsp;as the technology is evolving and there remains a challenge whether electric can provide the same performance” Sharad added.</p>

<p>While the brand sees a growth of 16% in India for 2019 and expect to sell more than 50 cars this year, the Indian market only contributes 1% to the brand’s global business. However, the brand also claims to see growing demand from tier 1 and 2 cities such as Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Calicut, Cochin, Guwahati, Ludhiana and Chandigarh among others.</p>

<p>Jeff Bezos gave “an incredible” and “heartfelt” speech to his fiancée, Lauren, whereas Nineties Pieces of You singer Jewel performed a song called Legendary at the party that she had written for the couple, reported Page Six.</p>

Jeff Bezos honoured as NASA taps Blue Origin to build moon lander

<p>Billionaire Jeff Bezos' space company Blue Origin on Friday expressed hopes of resuming flights of its grounded rockets soon. The company's New Shepard suborbital rockets were grounded following an accident in September 2022 that happened shortly after the space vehicle's liftoff from Texas. An investigation into the accident involving the rockets meant to be used for space tourism, among other purposes, is scheduled to be concluded soon.&nbsp;Blue Origin says that it "expects to return to flight soon" re-flying the same NS-23 payloads.</p>

<p>The probe that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is overseeing as per the regulatory body is still open. FAA said that it was "currently reviewing the company's submission of its mishap report."</p>

<p>"FAA approval is required to close the investigation and for the New Shepard System to return to flight," it added in its statement.</p>

<p>Even though, as per AFP,&nbsp;the incident was a blow to Bezos' company, onlookers were reportedly comforted by the probability that had there been passengers, they would have likely been unscathed.</p>

<p>During the mission involving a single booster rocket, there was an anomaly which happened as the vehicle was climbing towards space. Due to the malfunction,&nbsp;the rocket stalled, but the Blue Origin's NS-23 capsule, which was carrying a scientific payload, initiated its escape sequence and out speeding the booster, fell back to Earth.</p>

<p>French President Emmanuel Macron organised a discreet ceremony at the Elysée Palace to give Légion d’honneur to Amazon's founder Jeff Bezos as thousands of workers continued to protest across France over the changes in the pension plan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Légion d’honneur, the highest honour of the country, was presented by the French president in front of VIP guests and business leaders last Thursday, when an industrial action was planned against Macron's decision of raising&nbsp;the retirement age to 64, the Guardian reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Guardian report further stated that Bezos was designated as the Legion d’honneur's member around 10 years ago, before the entry of Macron into the Elysée, and the ceremony was organised to only hand over the ribboned medal which he should have been given but was not collected by Bezos.</p>

<p>In a first, Zoox, a subsidiary of Amazon on Monday announced that its autonomous car took to the streets of California carrying passengers without any manual control. The electric car, which does not have a steering wheel or pedal, shuttled between Zoox's two main buildings in Foster City.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"On February 11, 2023, Zoox conducted the first run of its employee shuttle service in Foster City, California, marking the first time in history a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi without traditional driving controls carried passengers on open public roads," said the company in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This is an amazing milestone for Zoox and the autonomous vehicle industry as a whole," added CEO Aicha Evans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company is looking to expand its testing horizon by opening a shuttle service for its employees in the coming spring.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In compliance with the California DMV permit, Zoox will first provide its service to its employees. As the company continues to advance its progress and secure additional government clearances, it will expand its service to the general public."</p>

<p>While Zoox is yet to disclose how many vehicles it has developed for its test fleet, industry insiders say the Amazon-owned company has dozens, if not 100 cars.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rollout of the car for public use still seems pretty distant but the company, founded nine years ago is optimistic that it can achieve a breakthrough.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amazon acquired Zoox in 2020 for an undisclosed amount to foray into the electric vehicles market.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Unlike other conventional EVs, Zoox is developing a bidirectional vehicle with no steering wheel or discernible front or back end. It allows the car to comfortably travel in either direction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Zoox's competitor is not industry leader Tesla but General Motors Co.'s Cruise and Alphabet's Waymo who are also gunning to ace the robotaxi segment.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Microsoft founder Bill Gates has set his eyes on an Australian climate technology start-up that plans to curb planet-heating methane emissions that comes from cow burps.</p>

<p>The tech billionaire has infused $12m investment through his Breakthrough Energy Venture on a firm called Rumin8. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Chinese entrepreneur Jack Ma are the other backers of the Breakthrough fund.</p>

<p>"We have been very pleased with the reception we have received from climate impact funds around the world," Rumin8's managing director David Messina said.</p>

<p>"There is a genuine desire to fund solutions to enteric methane emissions from livestock and fortunately for Rumin8, they can see the benefits of our technology," he added.</p>

<p>According to reports, Rumin8 is developing a range of supplements to feed cows in order to reduce the amount of methane they burp out.</p>

<p>The feed includes red seaweed and rangeland plants that replicate “nature’s anti-methanogenic compound” and cut methane output.</p>

<p>Methane is the most common greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide (CO2). Over a 100-year period methane is 28 to 34 times as warming as CO2.</p>

<p>Livestock such as cows, goats and deer produce methane when their stomachs are breaking down hard fibres like grass for digestion.</p>

<p>This process creates methane gas which is then mostly belched out again.</p>

<p>Last year, a research found that the combined methane emissions of 15 of the world’s largest meat and dairy companies are higher than those of several of the world’s largest countries, including Russia, Canada and Australia.</p>

<p>Apart from that, there has been a study which found that feeding seaweed to cows can reduce methane formation in their guts by more than 80 per cent.</p>

In a conversation with CNN, a source said Bezos told the paper’s senior staff during private meetings that he had no such plans.
