<p>Pakistan on Monday summoned India&#39;s Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh to Islamabad to condemn the alleged "unprovoked firing" by Indian troops across the Line of Control which resulted in the death of two people.</p>

<p>Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Singh and "condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces, the Foreign Office said.</p>

<p>In a statement, it said that firing on February 4 in Nezapir, Nikial and Karela sectors killed two civilians, including 18-year-old Rafaqat Ali and 25-year-old Tasleem Begum, and injured seven others including two children.</p>

<p>Faisal claimed that the Indian forces along the LoC and the Working boundary are continuously targeting the civilian populated areas with heavy mortars and automatic weapons.</p>

<p>In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the deaths of 13 civilians, it said.</p>

<p>"This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations," he claimed.</p>

<p>Faisal said the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and against the human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws.</p>

<p>The repeated ceasefire violations by India "are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," he asserted.</p>

<p>Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the repeated incidents of ceasefire violations, the statement said.</p>

<p>He also urged the Indian side to allow the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.</p>

Pakistan on Monday summoned India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh to Islamabad to condemn the alleged "unprovoked firing" by Indian troops across the Line of Control which resulted in the death of two people. Director General (South Asia and SAARC) Mohammad Faisal summoned Singh and "condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces, the Foreign Office said. In a statement, it said that firing on February 4 in Nezapir, Nikial and Karela sectors killed two civilians, including 18-year-old Rafaqat Ali and 25-year-old Tasleem Begum, and injured seven others including two children. Faisal claimed that the Indian forces along the LoC and the Working boundary are continuously targeting the civilian populated areas with heavy mortars and automatic weapons. In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 190 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the deaths of 13 civilians, it said. "This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations," he claimed. Faisal said the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and against the human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The repeated ceasefire violations by India "are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," he asserted. Faisal urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement and investigate the repeated incidents of ceasefire violations, the statement said. He also urged the Indian side to allow the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions. <p>At a time when the state of Jammu and Kashmir is under the grip of gun and violence, a whiff of fresh air is flowing on the secluded Rugby ground of Srinagar. Young girls are coming out on the field to play one of the most dangerous games.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The young players strike like a thunder, dodging and tackling to reach the finish line. There are not many onlookers, not many cheerleaders either but for these young girls every moment, every critique is a test of their passion and their spirit.</p>

<p>Undaunted they sprint towards the next milestone. Many of them have skipped classes in school to steal 60 minutes for this practice session.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here are&nbsp;the girls from the Rugby team of Kashmir valley.</p>

<p>&quot;In 2013 I,&nbsp;Irfan Aziz Bhutta and our chief coach of JK Rubgy&nbsp;saw some senior from school playing this sport. I was really inspired by this game because I am very well adapted to this game, my nature suits the game so well. So I joined the game. Since then I have played national tournaments, participated in many states and have been runners-up. Recently played snow rugby nationals in Gulmarg and we won a gold medal&quot;.</p>

<p>These girls are looking to make a career in the game of Rugby but they lack avenues and resources. A separate rugby ground was designated for this sport, but these girls say that is not enough. Sometimes the negative approach of society becomes a dampener. On many occasions, the street protests and violence have kept them away from the field. But they are unstoppable.</p>

<p>&quot;Sometimes we get negativity from the society. Sometimes people come and comment negatively so it becomes difficult to continue our practice. Like in Ramzan we were practising in the ground, few people came and said we will throw you out of the ground, why are you girls playing in shorts throwing the balls here and there. Just all those negative comments. Since then we think people don&rsquo;t really approve when girls go on the ground to prove themselves they don&rsquo;t really tolerate it.&quot;</p>

<p>&quot;Sometimes there is unrest and we can&rsquo;t come on the field to practice. Tackling all those difficulties we manage and cooperate to be on the ground. To all those girls when they see me they get inspired. I have gained self-confidence, vigour and strength by this game. They see me as an idol.&quot;</p>

<p>There are around 300 girls playing Rugby in the Kashmir valley. Every Sunday they come out and spend hours practising on the field. Recently the team won a gold medal in a national level snow rugby championship. Players say their skills make them stand out in the game.</p>

<p>So when we go for nationals, everyone from other teams, we have skills, we have tackling techniques, so these are the things that work for us. They only have running skills. They are fit, they know how to go through the game. We have tackling skills. That makes us stand out.</p>

<p>After unlocking many achievements on the field some of these girls go on to become trainers. One such trainer has played for over a decade and is now on the forefront of training newcomers in the game. She trains not just female participants but also the men.</p>

<p>I started from past two three years, I trained both boys and girls in Kashmir university. I started from there.</p>

<p>That is a wonderful experience to coach the boys, they are very cooperative for it. They can excel in this game. They ask me every day to give them training so I go voluntarily and impart training to them.</p>

Shopian firing: Centre moves Supreme Court to quash FIR against Major Aditya

<p>An army soldier allegedly shot himself dead in Jammu and Kashmir&#39;s Kupwara district on Wednesday morning.</p>

Shopian firing case: No probe against Major Aditya until next date of hearing

<p>Trudeau&#39;s visit was marred by the reports of an invitation extended to a Khalistani terrorist Jaspal Atwal to dine with the former at a formal event hosted by Canadian High Commissioner to India Nadir Patel. The invite was later rescinded.</p>

<p>Trudeau also received backlash over his wife Sophie Trudeau&#39;s photo with the convicted pro-Khalistani terrorist.</p>

<p>Atwal was convicted of the attempted murder of Punjab minister Malkiat Singh Sidhu on Vancouver Island in 1986.</p>

<p>Canadian Member of Parliament (MP) Randeep S. Sarai, however, took responsibility for inviting Atwal to Trudeau&#39;s reception dinner in New Delhi.</p>

<p>According to Glavin, Trudeau continued &quot;his India errors even after returning home&quot; by supporting a senior government official who suggested factions within the Indian government were involved in sabotaging his visit to India last week.</p>

<p>During Trudeau&#39;s first question period since returning to Canada, opposition MPs grilled him over the invitation issued to Atwal.</p>

<p>Responding to a Conservative leader&#39;s question about the &quot;allegations&quot; made by a senior government security source, Trudeau said, &quot;When one of our top diplomats and security officials says something to Canadians it&#39;s because they know it to be true,&quot; and added that it was the previous Conservative government that &quot;torqued the public service every possible way they could.&quot;</p>

Let me categorically state that the Government of India, including the security agencies, had nothing to do with the presence of Jaspal Atwal at the event hosted by the Canadian High Commissioner in Mumbai or the invitation issued to him for the Canadian High Commissioner&#39;s reception in New Delhi. Any suggestion to the contrary is baseless and unacceptable.&quot;</p>

Canadian High Commission shows Indian map without J&K

<p>Karnataka cabinet will be holding the last meeting on Tuesday at 6 pm ahead of the Assembly elections in the state to discuss separate state flag and its design.</p>

<p>The upcoming Karnataka Assembly&nbsp;elections will be held in April-May.</p>

<p>Karnataka flag committee to also come up with for discussion. The report is likely to be cleared considering its last meet.</p>

<p>&nbsp;After the report gets cleared by the state cabinet it will be sent to the Union Government for clearance.</p>

<p>Karnataka is demanding for separate state flag for some time.</p>

<p>In July 2017 the Karnataka government constituted a flag committee headed by headed by Chakravarthy Mohan, Principal Secretary of Department of Kannada and Culture.&nbsp;<br />

Karnataka cabinet will be holding the last meeting on Tuesday at 6 pm ahead of the Assembly elections in the state to discuss separate state flag and its design. The upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections will be held in April-May. Karnataka flag committee to also come up with for discussion. The report is likely to be cleared considering its last meet. After the report gets cleared by the state cabinet it will be sent to the Union Government for clearance. Karnataka is demanding for separate state flag for some time. In July 2017 the Karnataka government constituted a flag committee headed by headed by Chakravarthy Mohan, Principal Secretary of Department of Kannada and Culture. Currently, only Jammu and Kashmir have its own separate flag.

<p>The ceasefire&nbsp;in Jammu and Kashmir has been violated over 400 times already this year, with 23 Pakistani and 16 Indian soldiers losing their lives in the cross-border firing.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The violations have also killed civilians from both sides.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The ceasefire along the International border and the Line Of Control between India and Pakistan came into force as a confidence-building measure between the two countries on November 26, 2003.</p>

<p>A recent media report quoted Army Chief General Bipin Rawat as saying the Pakistani Army suffers three to four times more casualties in the exchange of fire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The media report added that in 2017, India lost about 32 soldiers along the LoC whereas Pakistan estimated lost between 130-140 soldiers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) supremo Bhim Singh today demanded early deportation of foreigners, including Rohingya and Bangladeshis, illegally settled in the winter capital of the state.</p>

<p>&quot;The presence of these foreign nationals especially in the municipal limits of Jammu is posing a threat to peace in the region. The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and Home Minister (Rajnath Singh) should make their stand (regarding deportation) clear,&quot; he told reporters here.</p>

<p>Singh said, &quot;My statement is neither linked to politics nor against any religion or community. It is for our rights, justice and peace for which the people of the state have rendered huge sacrifices.&quot;</p>

<p>The JKNPP leader said the people would not allow settlement of foreigners on their soil and &quot;it is better that these people are deported from here.&quot;</p>

<p>Accusing the ruling PDP-BJP coalition, of maintaining &ldquo;deliberate silence&rdquo; on the issue and misleading the people by giving wrong figures about the number of these illegal settlers, he said, &quot;The number of Bangladeshi and Myanmarese in the city is over 23,000, while the government is claiming that they are only 5,000 thus misleading the public.&quot;</p>
