<p>The exact number of the terrorists involved in the attack is still not known. A report says the terrorist belong to the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit.</p>

<p>Sources said that the target could have been the family quarters to create a hostage situation, but Security Forces managed to foil such attempt.</p>

<p>Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke to Director General of Police&nbsp;SP Vaid in&nbsp;Jammu Kashmir regarding the attack.</p>

<p>With these casualties, 17 people, including nine security personnel, died and 70 were injured in Pakistani shelling and firing along the LoC and International Border in the Jammu region this year.&nbsp;</p>

4 Army jawans killed in Pakistani shelling in J&K's Rajouri

<p>Gurez, a picturesque&nbsp;valley just a few kilometres away from the Line of Control (LoC) in the border district of district Bandipora, remain cut off from rest of&nbsp;Kashmir for&nbsp;the past four months because of heavy snowfall. The people of the area live in miserable conditions during this four months and suffer most&nbsp;because of ill health care.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On 31st of&nbsp;January, a seven-year-old boy from the area complained of acute pain in the abdomen. Seeing his unbearable pain, parents admitted him to a hospital in&nbsp;Gurez. Though the hospital was well-equipped, nobody was there&nbsp;to operate the facilities&nbsp;available. A junior&nbsp;doctor present diagnosed that the child was suffering from appendicitis and needed to be operated upon immediately&nbsp;which was not possible at the hospital. The doctor&nbsp;suggested the parents of the seven-year-old boy to shift&nbsp;him to Srinagar. However, even that was not possible as the road was closed due to bad weather. The chopper service was also not operational for the last three days due to the&nbsp;continuous&nbsp;snowfall and cloudy weather.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At this difficult&nbsp;time when helpless parents were seeing their&nbsp;kid in unbearable&nbsp;pain and not been able to&nbsp;do anything, Indian&nbsp;army came forward to help. A local army unit located in Gurez signalled the IAF base in Srinagar&nbsp;and requested for the helicopter&nbsp;to airlift the child to Srinagar.</p>

<p>Srinagar-based defence&nbsp;spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said that the seven-year-old&nbsp;Taufik&nbsp;suffered acute pain as a result of appendicitis on January 31 night and needed immediate medical care. Due to non-availability of adequate medicare in the area, he had to be shifted to Srinagar for treatment. The message for shifting&nbsp;was received at the Air Force Station, Srinagar, at night. The crew along with a helicopter was put on standby. However, bad weather at Gurez prevented the helicopter from getting airborne the next morning,&rdquo; the defence spokesman said.</p>

<p>He said the helicopter was then assigned to&nbsp;another assignment.</p>

<p>&ldquo;On its way back from the assignment, the helicopter crew received a message that the weather at Gurez had improved to marginal. The helicopter was diverted to the landing site. After the successful landing, Taufik and his father were picked up despite continuous snowfall and low clouds and moved to Srinagar,&rdquo; the spokesman said.</p>

<p>And boy&#39;s life was saved with the help of Indian Air Force and he was taken to Srinagar for treatment on February 1 where his&nbsp;condition is stable.</p>

<p>Local residents of Gurez and family members of Tawfiq thanked the air forces. Taufiq&#39;s father&nbsp;Ghulam Rasool Lone thanked the Army especially the rescue team&nbsp;of the Air Force, who undertook a &#39;risky landing&#39; to save the child&#39;s life in that bad weather condition. &#39;&#39;If Air Force personnel did not come forward to&nbsp;help, my&nbsp;child would have died. Due to their swift action&nbsp;my child survived,&#39;&#39; he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Cursing the local administration&nbsp;he said &quot;Pawan Hans Chopper Service, started by the administration is a failure&nbsp;when the army helicopter landed, why can&#39;t they? According to the Lone, people there have to face such situation in every winter.</p>

Indian Air Force saves 7-year-old boy from snowbound Gurez Valley

<p>Home minister Rajnath Singh hit out at Pakistan saying they did not have the power to separate Kashmir from India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The probe agency had recorded the statement of 36-year- old Wani where he allegedly said that he came to Delhi from Srinagar &quot;at the directions of Shah&quot; sometime in April 2003 and that was the first time he had met him. Wani was arrested by the ED on August 6 from Srinagar.</p>

<p>The extension comes at a time tension prevailed along the border between the two countries in Jammu and Kashmir.</p>

<p>The agreement to link the two countries by rail was signed in 2006 to facilitate people-to-people contact, officials said.</p>

<p>The agreement was set to expire in March 2018, but has now been extended to January 31, 2021.</p>

<p>The two sides currently have only two trans-border trains. The Samjhauta Express operates on the Delhi-Lahore route via the Attari-Wagah border crossing and carries both passengers and freight.</p>

<p>The Thar Express links Jodhpur and Karachi via the Munabao-Khokhrapar border crossing and carries only passengers.</p>

<p>The Munabao-Khokhrapar link was destroyed during the 1965 war between the two countries. The service was revived after 41 years in February 2006.</p>

<p>On July 10, a&nbsp;bus bearing the registration number GJ09Z 9976 was attacked by terrorists at around 8:20 pm (local time) near Khanabal when it was on its way to Jammu.</p>

<p>The attack claimed the lives of seven pilgrims while injuring 32 others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A special investigative team was constituted where Tahir Ashraf Bhatti carried investigation under the close supervision of SSP Anantnag and DIGP SKR Anantnag.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Jammu and Kashmir police had established that the attack was conducted by Pakistan based terrorists. Further Investigations revealed the complicity of eleven people.</p>

<p><font>The main accused in the instant case Abu Ismail, a Pakistani National&nbsp;was killed in an encounter at Arigam, Nowgam, Srinagar on September 14, 2017.</font></p>

<p><font>Two other terrorists, hailing from Pakistan, involved were killed in an encounter at Qazigund on December 12, 2017.</font></p>

<p><font>Other accused in the case,&nbsp;Khalid Muzafar Dar of Rehpora Khudwani, Tanveer Ahmad Dar of Rehpora Khudwani and Sarjeel Ahmad Shiekh of Khudwani are absconding in the case.</font><br />

<font>The accused persons in the instant case namely Aijaz, Bilal and Zahoor were arrested and are presently in the Judicial custody.</font></p>

<p>A juvenile arrested in the case is currently out on bail.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Two civilians and a BSF jawan were today in unprovoked firing by Pakistan in Samba sector of the Indo-Pak International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.</p>

<p>They said the BSF head constable was injured in the incident in noon and later succumbed to his injuries.</p>

<p>Two civilians were killed and three others were also injured as Pakistan Rangers heavily shelled civilian areas and border posts for the second consecutive day along the IB in Jammu and Samba districts.</p>

<p>A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan, Head Constable A Suresh, was killed in similar firing on the border last night, following which the force had mounted heavy retaliation.</p>
