The judiciary had made it clear that the death sentence was not for&nbsp;involvement in killing of the leader&nbsp;of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force,&nbsp;Soleimani, who was accused of being the mastermind of the attacks by Iran-aligned militias on US forces in the region and was later assassinated in January 2020 in a US drone strike. The one-storey underground Natanz site was partly burned in a fire on Thursday. The building is the monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency as it is believed to be a focus point of the country's uranium enrichment programme.

Israel is believed to be the region's only nuclear power. The country has pledged to never allow Iran to obtain any form of atomic weapons and&nbsp;says its atomic programme is peaceful.

The comment from Israel came after reports stated that Iran thinks the reason behind this fire could either be a cyber sabotage, or simply Israel or the US. However, the statements were issued by unnamed sources in a news wire agency, and the sources did not offer any evidence to support their words.

Last month, Israeli security cabinet minister Zeev Elkin said Iran had attempted to mount a cyber attack on Israel`s water system in April.

There has not been a reply from Iran, as of now. Investigations are underway.

While the protest saw&nbsp;attendance of thousands of people, a recent opinion poll has revealed around half of Israelis support annexation.

A video address by US Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders was also screened by the organisers in which Sanders called for justice and said,&nbsp;"It has never been more important to stand up for justice, and to fight for the future we all deserve. It’s up to all of us to stand up to authoritarian leaders and to build a peaceful future for every Palestinian and every Israeli."

The US President Donald Trump&nbsp;has unveiled a peace plan that requires Palestinians to establish&nbsp;a state under stringent conditions, but Israelis get to retain their establishments.

He claimed to have come in contact with thousands of people since the economy has reopened, and has urged people to quarantine themselves and take care.

He had been spotted at various events, cafeterias, mourning gatherings, offices and families of coronavirus victims&nbsp;without a mask.

Several lawmakers have entered quarantine since the outbreak of the pandemic but only Yaakov Litzman, who was the Health Minister before the formation of the new government on May 17, was diagnosed positive with the COVID-19.

As the country saw more than 100 coronavirus cases after the country reopened, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that coronavirus curbs would be reimposed if infection rates increase. Majority of the new cases&nbsp;originated at one Jerusalem high school.

In a televised address, Netanyahu said it was still too early to say whether this showed a change in trend. The next few days would be examined to see whether there was a significant rise in infection rates that would require policy change, he said.

The vote, Israel's third inconclusive election in less than a year, saw Netanyahu's right-wing Likud secure the most seats.

President Reuven Rivlin was due to meet Gantz, 60, later on, Monday to officially grant him a maximum of 42 days to try to form a government, a task which proved impossible for any candidate following the two elections last year. &nbsp;

Gantz has a "hollow mandate," political columnist Sima Kadmon wrote in the Yediot Aharonot newspaper, referring to the potentially crippling divisions within the anti-Netanyahu camp.

But Rivlin made clear he wants a government in place "as soon as possible," in part to help Israel beat back the COVID-19 pandemic.

He summoned the two rivals on Sunday for an "urgent conversation", which ended without agreement, but Likud and Blue and White said the talks would continue.

After the meeting, Rivlin emphasised the need to "intensify direct contacts between the Likud and Kachol Lavan negotiating teams, and welcomed both sides' willingness to do so".

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's challenger Benny Gantz is to receive state protection following online threats, a domestic security agency announced on Tuesday.

"The prime minister has approved the Shin Bet's recommendation for close protection of Mr Gantz," a statement from the agency said.

The decision still requires ratification from a security committee.

Former armed forces chief Gantz took to Twitter on Saturday to call on Netanyahu to "stop this incitement to violence, do not say that you did not know."
