Foxconn reported a decline in revenue for October, with sales amounting to NT$741.2 billion ($23 billion). Despite this setback, the company has maintained a "significant growth outlook" for the December quarter, which is traditionally its busiest period due to the year-end iPhone shipments. Notably, Apple released its latest iPhone 15 in September.

In a brief statement, Foxconn mentioned that "operations will ramp up sequentially", without providing further details. The ongoing investigation by Chinese authorities has added complexity to Apple's position in its largest international market and primary production base. Regulators in China are currently conducting tax audits and reviewing land use by Foxconn, as reported by state media on October 22.

The report by Bloomberg said that investor concerns have escalated regarding the prospects of Apple's iPhone sales in China, a market that constitutes approximately one-fifth of the tech giant's total sales.

The Chinese consumer economy is grappling with challenges, while U.S. businesses continue to face a hostile environment due to ongoing technology conflicts between the U.S. and China. Hon Hai, the public arm of Foxconn Technology Group, has expressed its intention to cooperate with the Chinese authorities in their investigation. The city boasts superior logistics capabilities, especially when taking into account the past incidents of communal disturbances in Hyderabad, which pose a potential risk to your business,” it said.

“Furthermore, several international industries in Hyderabad have expressed interest in relocating to Bengaluru. We anticipate forming a friendly government in Telangana soon, assuring that you will encounter no hindrances there. Apple said on Thursday (Nov 2) that iPhone demand in China remains strong, in an attempt to reassure investors who are worrying that the tech giant is losing ground to China's Huawei Technologies and other Chinese brands.

"In mainland China, we set a quarterly record for the September quarter for iPhone," Chief Executive Tim Cook told Reuters in an interview. "We had four out of the top five best-selling smartphones in urban China."

Cook reportedly said that Apple has gained market share in China in July-September, although overall, smartphone market has contracted.

He added that the company expects increase in iPhone sales in the holiday quarter.

According to research firm Canalys, overall smartphone sales in China fell by 3 per cent in July-September as compared to a year earlier. The reason? Consumers bought fewer smartphones in the wake of weak economic recovery.

However, there are signs that the slump is gradually easing.

Once you’re done appreciating/cursing the USB-C, you’ll notice the titanium frame.

The new iPhone 15 Pro comes with a magnificent titanium body with slightly rounded edges. It’s not bulky or heavy and carries the familiarity of an Apple product.&nbsp;

This is the first iPhone to feature an aerospace‑grade titanium design, using the same alloy that spacecraft use for missions to Mars, says Apple. This means your new iPhone is lighter. But does it mean your kids can throw it around without giving you a heart attack?

I wouldn’t recommend dropping this from a height but if you do have butter fingers, this iPhone is slightly more durable. But do not, I repeat, do not perform any drop tests.

Titanium is a super metal, is bio-compatible, and can make robots but it won’t make the iPhone invincible.

Titanium also means the new iPhone is lighter so the new phone may feel cheaper but it's not. The natural Titanium colour is your best bet if you hate fingerprints.

ALL ABOUT THE CHIPSET

The new lineup comes with the A17 Pro chipset. Apple calls this its best graphics performance chipset so far.&nbsp;

A chipset like this one makes your smartphone a workhorse but only in very specific tasks. So this is a gamer's iPhone and that's where the chipset shows its might. If you're not an avid phone gamer, you probably won't notice the upgrade.&nbsp;

WHY IS THE iPHONE 15 PRO HEATING UP?

Right after the iPhones hit the shelves, news of new models overheating made headlines. Now the company has said that these overheating issues are not a safety risk and will not impact the iPhone's performance. Reportedly, some new apps and a "bug" are causing the overheating.

In my one week with the iPhone 15 Pro, the iPhone got hot a few times when I least expected it. My guess is the powerful chipset or the new iOS update could be the reasons behind this. The issue will get resolved as newer software updates roll out.

HOW IS THE BATTERY?

Well as always, battery life gets a marginal upgrade and once again, depends on your use.&nbsp; 
If you are watching content, scrolling through social media, messaging rapidly, using your phone as your best mate then you will have to charge your iPhone at the end of the day.

CAMERA GETS A MAJOR UPGRADE

The photos get better because the camera is better.

The 48MP main camera captures all the details and you will only notice the difference if your current iPhone is a few iterations older. The more expensive sibling, the Pro Max, gets a better Zoom camera so that may be something to keep in mind if you're planning to upgrade to the new line-up.

But before going crazy after the specs, ask yourself the following:

Do I need ProRes?

Do I need to shoot HDR at 4K 60FPS?&nbsp;

Do I really need high-quality images captured through a 48MP camera?

If the answer is no, move on.

But if you're a content creator, a filmmaker or someone who finds professional cameras daunting for creating content, the camera system on the new line-up is spectacular.

Content creators will have a field day with this one. You can now shoot video in "log" format which is a curious way of recording footage making it look almost flat.

Chinese social media 'soaked in heavily racist tone' to target India-made iPhones

Assembly of Apple's flagship iPhone devices was halted at its Chennai facility in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu after a fire incident on Sunday (September 24) night.&nbsp;Apple supplier Pegatron, which runs the facility, was forced to cancel the first two shifts of the new week, Reuters news agency reported.

The Taiwanese firm is yet to inform assembly workers whether they will be called in to operate the third shift of the day or not. In a statement to Reuters, Pegatron confirmed "there was a spark incident" which is currently under control, adding that the&nbsp;incident "does not have significant financial or operational impact" for the company.

"There are no injuries, no casualties nor damage to other assets. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by (the) relevant authority," Pegatron said.

Notably, Pegatron started assembling iPhones in India in September last year. Buoyed by the success of the plant, the company is in talks to open a second Indian facility for Apple near the current one in Tamil Nadu.&nbsp;

To commemorate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 73rd birthday, V Lee, Foxconn's representative in India, wrote on LinkedIn that the company is "aiming for another doubling of employment, FDI (foreign direct investment), and business size in India" by this time next year.

The largest electronics contract manufacturer in the world, Foxconn has been&nbsp;increasing&nbsp;its investments in India, in an attempt&nbsp;to diversify away from China.

Notably, Foxconn already operates a 40,000-person iPhone manufacturing in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.

In August this year, the Karnataka government said that Foxconn intends&nbsp;to invest $600 million in two projects to produce chip-making machinery and iPhone case components.

Earlier this month, Young Liu, Chairman and CEO of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) said that India will play a significant role in manufacturing in the future.

A PTI report quoted him as saying it took China 30 years to build the entire supply chain ecosystem but&nbsp;it will take an "appropriate amount of time in India". He added the process will be shorter in Asia's third-largest economy.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the South Asian nation will be able to purchase the India-made iPhone 15 on the day that it goes on sale globally, according to previous reports by Bloomberg.

It was also reported that Apple instructed employees to reject return or exchange requests for devices bought over two weeks ago. The employees were reportedly told to tell customers that products undergo rigorous testing, if&nbsp;a customer asks about safety of the phones.

The sale of iPhone 12 was banned in France after Agence Nationale des Frequences (ANFR), the radiation watchdog, said earlier this week that the smartphone's&nbsp;Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) was higher than legally allowed.

SAR is a measure of the rate of radiofrequency absorbed by the body of a smartphone user while using the equipment.

The ANFR said that if Apple didn't resolve the issue, it would be forced to order recall of these smartphones.

However, on Friday (September 15) Apple appeared to relent as it announced that it would release a software update to address the radiation issue.

The announcement was met with a positive reaction from the French government. It said that the software update will be swiftly tested and if the issue is sorted, sales of the model would be allowed to continue.&nbsp;

"The ANFR (French regulator) is preparing to quickly test this update," said France's Digital Affairs Ministry. Jean Noel Barrot, the Digital Affairs Minister has been in contact with Apple over past few days over the radiation issue.

iPhone 12 is a relatively old model. It was launched in 2020.

"This is related to a specific testing protocol used by French regulators and not a safety concern," it said.

Apple launched iPhone 15 just this week. iPhone 12 is now not available for purchase from Apple directly but it can be bought from third parties.

Apple told staff to keep mum on iPhone 12 radiation issue queries from customers: Report

Ivan Lam, senior analyst at Counterpoint was quoted&nbsp;by Reuters as saying that it was reasonable to expect these volumes on JD.com as it is one of Apple's biggest sale channels in China.

"Since the decline of Huawei, the iPhone has been able to attract a massive number of consumers in the more than $600 segment. The new iPhone 15 series, especially the Pro series, will be a good choice for the installed base who are using iPhone 11/12 and looking for an update replacement," he said.

"However, there's no doubt that the new Mate 60 series will be a challenge to the iPhone this year."

For iPhone, China is its third largest market. Performance of iPhone 15 is going to be closely watched especially after former rival Huawei's launch of new smartphone late last month. The smartphone comes with an advanced chip.

Huawei could make a comeback with its Mate 60 series, according to analysts. The Chinese tech firm was once the world's biggest smartphone maker but US export controls decimated its business.

Chandrasekhar's announcement comes as news came out that American technology giant Apple's recently launched iPhone models - iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will support NavIC. This is the first time that Apple has added support for NavIC to any of its iPhone models.

Speaking to the news agency ANI, MoS Chandrasekhar said, "The world's largest company in technology Apple has launched its new iPhone 15. During this launch, India is achieving two milestones."

Chandrasekhar said the first milestone was that the availability of iPhone models in India would be on the same day as the availability of them in New York and London. "And the second is that the NavIC GPS satellite system developed by ISRO would be present in the iPhone 15," he added.&nbsp;

The minister also lauded the incorporation of NavIC into these iPhone models.

Despite switching all of its laptops to using chips of its own design, the transaction shows that Apple is not rushing to release its own modem and is prolonging a partnership worth billions of dollars to Qualcomm for at least three years beyond what was anticipated.

Early afternoon trading saw a 4 per cent increase in Qualcomm shares. Qualcomm&nbsp;is a pioneer in the design of modem chips, which link mobile devices to mobile data networks. Apple stock increased by 0.5 per cent.

Headquartered in San Diego, California, Qualcomm saw the conclusion of a protracted legal dispute with Apple, following which, the two firms subsequently agreed to a chip supply agreement in 2019.

The iPhones that Apple is anticipated to introduce on Tuesday would be the last batch of phones to be launched under that supply agreement, which shall expire this year.

As per the agreement made on Monday, Qualcomm will provide Apple with semiconductors for new phones released year up until 2026. When asked about the deal’s worth, Qualcomm merely said that it was “similar” to a previous one.

UBS analysts predicted that Qualcomm would sell $7.26 billion worth of chips to Apple in 2022 in a research note published on August 3.

A patent licencing agreement Qualcomm finalised with Apple in 2019 is still in effect, according to Qualcomm. The companies have the opportunity to extend the agreement for an additional two years until 2025.

Reuters quoted Susannah Streeter, the head of money and markets at Hargreaves Lansdown, as saying, “At a time when Apple is running into increasing challenges in China, reinforcing its supply chains elsewhere is a priority, and it appears the company is rolling back or at least delaying plans to go at it alone in more areas with its own chip production.”

Apple spent $1 billion to purchase Intel’s modem section in 2019, while the company is in the process of developing its own modem technology. It is unknown how rapidly Apple intends to increase the use of its own chips.

By 2026, barely a fifth of Apple’s iPhones would utilise Qualcomm’s chips, the company stated on Monday in a statement.

Although all of the iPhone 14 models announced last year had Qualcomm modems, Qualcomm made a similar prediction regarding its relationship with Apple in 2021 that turned out to be unduly conservative.

Moreover, Akash Palkhiwala, the chief financial officer of Qualcomm, revised his projections for the 2023 iPhones that will be made public this week last year, stating that he anticipated that the “vast majority” of them will come equipped with Qualcomm modems.
