Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday (Dec 27) that Russia fired almost 50 Shahed drones at targets in Ukraine, the news agency Associated Press reported.&nbsp;

They also claimed that Moscow shelled a train station where more than 100 civilians were gathered to catch a train to Kyiv.&nbsp;

As per the officials, the barrages killed at least five people and knocked out power in most of the southern city of Kherson.&nbsp;

The alleged attack came a day after Ukrainian warplanes damaged a Russian ship moored in the Black Sea off Crimea.&nbsp;

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko claimed that Russian forces launched an artillery and drone bombardment of the Kherson region overnight.&nbsp;

He said that the attack took place when some 140 civilians were waiting for a train at the region's capital city of the same name.&nbsp;

Biden will have a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of participating in the meeting of heads of the governments and states of the intergovernmental forum G20.&nbsp;

He will participate in the official sessions of the G20 Summit on Saturday and Sunday. He is expected to visit the Raj Ghat Memorial to Mahatma Gandhi on Sunday before departing for Vietnam.&nbsp;

On the eve of Biden's departure for New Delhi, the White House said on Wednesday that the US is committed to ensuring that India has a successful summit.&nbsp;

Lawyers for Donald Trump on Thursday (August 17) asked a federal judge in Washington to schedule an April 2026 trial for the former president regarding the federal charges that he allegedly attempted to overturn his 2020 election loss to Democrat Joe Biden.&nbsp;

A filing showed that Trump requested US District Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington, DC, to reject the proposal of Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the subversion allegations.

Judge Chutkan is set to decide the trial date on August 28.&nbsp;

As quoted by US media outlets, Trumps said that he "seeks a trial calendar more rapid than most no-document misdemeanours, requesting just four months from the beginning of discovery to jury selection."&nbsp;

"The government's objective is clear: to deny President Trump and his counsel a fair ability to prepare for trial. The Court should deny the government's request," Trump's lawyers wrote.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, information about Trump's most recent indictments for interfering with an election in Georgia in 2020 surfaced.&nbsp;

The grand jury met for roughly 10 hours before handing up charges. Prosecutors charged 18 other people, including Mark Meadows, Trump's former White House chief of staff, and lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.&nbsp;

The case stems from a Jan 2, 2021, phone call in which Trump urged Georgia's top election official, Brad Raffensperger, to "find" enough votes to reverse his narrow loss in the state, but the request was declined.&nbsp;

On January 6, 2021, four days later, Trump's supporters attacked the US Capitol in an effort to stop Congress from certifying Biden's victory.&nbsp;

Now we know they even went into voting machines in order to determine whether or not those voting machines had somehow been breached when they were the ones actually doing the breaching," she added.&nbsp;

Hundreds of people from the affected region have been airlifted and moved to safe locations. The announcement by the authorities highlights the unprecedented damage caused by fires so far this year and offers authorities more flexibility in how they might handle an emergency.&nbsp;

Canada: State of emergency declared in Northwest Territories due to wildfires

Republican US Representative Don Bacon said late Monday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had issued a warning that his emails had been hacked by Chinese spies, with both personal and campaign messages compromised, in addition to reading the emails of State Department workers.&nbsp;

Bacon, who is a Republican from Nebraska and serves on the House Armed Services Committee, shared a post on social media platform X on Monday to share the details.&nbsp;

As per reports, the same spies also exploited a Microsoft error for a month, from mid-May to mid-June, which corresponds to when the other breaches were allegedly committed, according to the investigators.&nbsp;

In the post, he said that he was told that the Chinese Communist Party had access to his accounts for about a month ending on June 16. Bacon said that the hack was the result of a "vulnerability in Microsoft software".&nbsp;

It seemed to be a reference to the hacking operation that Microsoft revealed last month, which allegedly led to the theft of hundreds of thousands of emails from top US government figures, including Gina Raimondo, the US Commerce Secretary, and Nicholas Burns, the US Ambassador to China.&nbsp;

Bacon said on X: "There were other victims in this cyber operation. The Communist government in China are not our friends and are very active in conducting cyber espionage."&nbsp;

According to a Chinese Embassy spokesperson, the development is a "smear" and part of a "groundless narrative". The spokesperson also added that the US government had undercut China's sovereignty with recent arms sales to Taiwan, a self-governed island claimed by China.&nbsp;

As per reports, the same spies also exploited a Microsoft error for a month, from mid-May to mid-June, which corresponds to when the other breaches were allegedly committed, according to the investigators. In the post, he said that he was told that the Chinese Communist Party had access to his accounts for about a month ending on June 16.
