PM Anthony Albanese announces education recognition mechanism, Indian degrees to be recognised in Australia

<p>The Indian Air Force (IAF) has chosen Group Captain Shaliza Dhami, a helicopter pilot, to assume the leadership of a missile squadron in the western sector, IAF officials announced on Tuesday (March 7). This would be the first time a woman officer of the IAF will be in control of a frontline combat unit.</p>

<p>On the occasion of International Women's Day, the officials said that Dhami, who was commissioned into the IAF in 2003, is a qualified flight instructor and has spent more than 2,800 hours in the air.</p>

<p>The change occurs at a time when the military services are expanding women's horizons and providing them with possibilities on par with those available to males.</p>

<p>“Having been commended by the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief on two occasions, the officer is presently posted in the operations branch of a frontline Command Headquarters” said one of the officials as quoted by the Hindustan Times.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Khokkar said, this year, the beaches remained unaffected as there were no extreme weather events such as cyclones and heavy rain and turtles ascended perfectly sloped beaches at the Rushikulya river mouth. Last year, 5.5 lakh Olive Ridley turtles had come to Rushikulya for mass nesting.</p>

We are currently counting the number of turtles received during sporadic nesting witnessed after March 2,” he said. The forest division has stepped up its supervision to prevent turtle mortality by deploying forest officials.</p>

<h2><strong>How does an Olive Ridley lay eggs?</strong></h2>

<p>Olive Ridley turtles spend hours at a stretch digging burrows in the sand with their front flippers. They then sweep sand out of the hollow using their hind flippers to form a cavity. A large number of eggs are laid at once, and they are then again covered with sand. The turtles lay their eggs, which would hatch after 40–60 days, and then depart for the sea just before daybreak. In the months of April and May, the hatchlings are anticipated to break the surface of the eggs.</p>

<p>“This year, we propose to tag 3,200 turtles. It is heartening to note that 150 Olive Ridley turtles which were tagged have returned to lay eggs on beaches of Odisha this year,” ZSI scientist Anil Mohapatra told The Hindu.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mohapatra said two turtles tagged in Odisha were located in Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu. The ZSI has aimed to tag over 30,000 over a period of 10 years. <p>Taliban has welcomed the development. Taliban's Suhail Shaheen told WION that, "We greatly appreciate the delivery of 20,000 MTs of wheat for Afghan people through Chabahar Port. Such humanitarian steps boost trust between the two countries which will lead to mutual positive relations."</p>

<p>Last year India dispatched several shipments of humanitarian assistance consisting of 40,000 MTs of wheat, 50 tons of medicines, 500,000 doses of COVID Vaccine, winter clothing and 28 tons of disaster relief assistance. This assistance was sent over land Pakistan.</p>

<p>The humanitarian assistance comes even as India hasn't recognized the Taliban regime in Kabul but continues to have conversation with it. In June 2022, an Indian technical team was sent to Kabul to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian assistance.&nbsp;</p>

<p>An Indian company took over the operations of the port in December 2018. India has invested close to 85 plus million dollars development of the port which it sees as an important component of connectivity to its west--Iran, Afghanistan, and Central Asia.</p>

<p>Plans are afoot to include the port in the North South Transport Corridor that connects Mumbai with Moscow. As part of its commitment towards the development of the project, India has supplied 6 mobile harbour cranes, and other equipments worth $25 million.</p>

<p>Announcement came on the day when India Central Asia working group met on Afghanistan. The group includes all the 5 countries of central Asia- Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan &amp; Uzbekistan, and this is the first time this group has met. After the meeting, a joint statement was also issued that called for inclusive govt in Kabul among other issues.</p>

Such humanitarian steps boost trust between the two countries which will lead to mutual positive relations." Last year India dispatched several shipments of humanitarian assistance consisting of 40,000 MTs of wheat, 50 tons of medicines, 500,000 doses of COVID Vaccine, winter clothing and 28 tons of disaster relief assistance. This assistance was sent over land Pakistan. The humanitarian assistance comes even as India hasn't recognized the Taliban regime in Kabul but continues to have conversation with it. In June 2022, an Indian technical team was sent to Kabul to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian assistance. The group includes all the 5 countries of central Asia- Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan & Uzbekistan, and this is the first time this group has met. <p>SCO energy ministers meeting comes days after India hosted key meetings of the G20 grouping, the finance minister meeting in Bangalore and the foreign ministers meeting in Delhi.</p>

<p>SCO covers over 60 per cent of the Eurasian landmass, 40 per cent of the world population, and 30 per cent of the global GDP.</p>

<p>The National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi is set to host an exhibition showcasing the work of Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indo-Lanka diplomatic relations. Titled "Geoffrey Bawa: It is Essential to be There", the exhibition is a collaboration between the National Gallery of Modern Art, the Ministry of Culture, the High Commission of Sri Lanka, and the Geoffrey Bawa Trust Colombo.</p>

<p>This event highlights the strong cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka as both countries come together to honour the work of one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. The exhibition draws from Bawa's archives, featuring over 120 documents, including a section on his unbuilt work and photographs from his travels.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Indo-Lanka Diplomatic Relations, this event celebrates the Cultural Exchange Programme between India and Sri Lanka," the Sri Lankan High Commission said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Bawa's work has been exhibited across the world, but this exhibition will be the first retrospective of his work to be shown internationally since 2004. It will also be the first to focus on the archive. The exhibition will run from March 17 to May 7, 2023, and will be inaugurated this Friday.&nbsp;</p>
