The National Selection Panel has gone with the same core group that successfully toured the West Indies in June of this year and has included three others. Cricket South Africa on Saturday confirmed that the India Tour will continue as originally scheduled, with a few adjustments to the logistical arrangements, such as the arrival time of the India Team.

Pursuant to a very cordial relationship between the Board of Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the tour is now confirmed and the arrival timings of the India team will be moved out by a week, to allow for effective logistical planning.

With the Proteas men's team having already participated in no less than eight international cricket BSEs, CSA is pleased to announce that this tour will also take place under the strictest Covid-19 guidelines, as contained in the BSE protocols.

Revealing their conversation with the Sourav Ganguly-led BCCI, Moseki has said that the Indian board remains committed and is keen to continue with the tour. On the other hand, CSA also remains positive that the tour will go on as scheduled unless the situation&nbsp;gets completely out of grasp.&nbsp;

In addition, the BCCI has stressed upon the fact that at the moment, there has been no advisory or travel ban from the Indian government with regards to touring South Africa. Hence, CSA is confident of making all the required bio-bubble arrangements for India's successful tour of SA.

As of now, the tour very much remains as per schedule. Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday said the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) should consult the government before taking a final call on sending the Indian team to South Africa. Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Friday that the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town will host the third Test between India and South Africa from January 3-7 in 2022. Initially, Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg was supposed to host the first as well as the third Test of the Freedom Trophy.

"We will definitely play SA series but there should be riders. Is CSA with India on ICC policy matters? With Chris (Nenzani), you would want a full commitment on paper and then proceed.

Outplayed in the opening Test, India will have to resolve a few selection puzzles and respond better to the sharp bounce when they square off against a redoubtable South Africa in the do-or-die second Test, starting in Pretoria on Saturday.

India&rsquo;s record of nine consecutive series victories will be on the line from tomorrow after the hosts took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series by registering a 72-run win in the first Test in Cape Town.

It is only the second match in India&rsquo;s 12-Test long overseas schedule in 2018-19, and already they are faced with a must-not-lose situation in a bid to keep this series alive.

Surrendering a 2-0 lead to South Africa will not dent their No 1 ICC Test ranking, but that will be of little consolation when the post-mortem of the performance is done back home.

In order to get this Test off on the right foot, the Indian team management will be looking to get their selection on the money.

Centurion Test: Jittery India aim to stay afloat against daunting South Africa

Team India would be aiming to assert themselves as good travellers when they face South Africa in the opening chapter of a 12-Test overseas challenge, starting in Newlands, Cape Town tomorrow.
