"Wonder Woman 1984", a highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2017 DC superhero blockbuster, will see Gadot reprise her role as the Amazonian warrior Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman and director Patty Jenkins return at the helm. The sequel follows Wonder Woman facing two all-new foes: Maxwell Lord, played by "Narcos" star Pedro Pascal, and The Cheetah aka Barbara Minerva, essayed by Kristen Wiig, known for "Bridesmaids".<br />

Unlike other superhero movies that are heavily dependent on computer-generated imagery (CGI) to execute high-octane stunt sequences, "Wonder Woman 1984" mostly has real people pulling off the choreography, Gadot said.<br />

"Most of the stuff you see in the film is real people doing the real thing, whether it is us or the stuntpeople. "When you see it in the movie, you can tell it's the real deal - be it the facial expressions, weight, movement and speed. It was the hardest movie I ever got to shoot by far but it was worth it," Gadot told select media, including PTI, at the film's virtual global press conference from Los Angeles.<br />

The 2017 original stand-alone film, which critics and audience felt was much needed in the male-dominated superhero space, followed Diana's journey as a sheltered Amazonian princess to a true warrior. "Wonder Woman", both a critical and box office success, was received so favourably that there was no way the team was going to take any shortcuts, Gadot said.<br />

"We wanted to raise the bar, give everything we have. We knew people were so much invested in and cared about the character," she said, adding she wasn't lucky enough to see a character like Woman Woman on screen while growing up. The final battle between Wonder Woman and Cheetah, Jenkins said, was one of the most complex scenes and required them to build a set from scratch. "There was no stage big enough in the world to execute it," she added.<br />

The director said she and Gadot were clear from the outset that the fight scenes between Wonder Woman and Cheetah would be "completely different". "They had a friendship in the past, it's not about punching in the face. They are both trying to get the other one out of control. Narratively and spatially, it was fascinating, and executing it was long, laborious, and wild."<br />

"Everything was well planned and intentional," added Wiig, who plays the awkward gemologist Barbara-turned-apex predator Cheetah. Mostly known for her comedic turns, Wiig said, playing a villain was a "scary but fun experience". "I don't really get asked to do these kinds of things. I'm a superhero geek. I haven't done anything like this before. We really didn't want her to be a mousy girl turned villain. We wanted it to be - what is it about her that makes her so lonely, invisible and what does she want?" she added.<br />

Pascal said he went through "the Patty Jenkins experience" while playing Maxwell, a charismatic businessman with a hidden agenda. "It has to be complete, have all the risks, and humanity, no matter how dark the character is. I definitely didn't know if I'd be able to get in there. I owe it to my director if it worked. "It was scary and thrilling to do something that is a lot closer to me... The exposed desperation, instead of a brute with a moustache," he added. Gadot said she was "deeply moved" to see her younger on-screen self resonate strongly with her real eight-year-old self. "That's when I realised the power of these movies. I'm a big believer that when you see it, you think you can be it and then you become it. Now seeing how this character affects my daughters, and also boys and men, it is so powerful." While the first film was about the birth of Wonder Woman and her discovery of humanity, the sequel explores how she lives with this humanity.<br />

"She is trying to teach everyone she encounters how to be their better self. (But) She is not perfect either. Being a hero is not an easy thing. That was what I was interested in," Jenkins said. Gadot said she had a wonderful collaborator in Jenkins. "She is a director who is there with you, for you, behind you, besides you and to guide you. That gives you the freedom to really let go and take all the risks one can be very frightened to take if they don't have such a partner." Creating the history of Diana and her life post the events of the first film, set in 1918, was an important point of discussion between Gadot and the director.<br />

"She lost all of her team members, she has been lonely. She doesn't want to make new friends because they are going to realise she doesn't age, they are going to die and she has to let go. Robin Wright as Antiope, and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, Diana's aunt and mother, also have a presence in the movie. Pine said reprising his role of Steve as a man who reappears after over six decades was like playing "a proverbial fish out of the water", whom Diana helps adjust to the new world in what is a role swap from the first film. "It was a bit harder than I expected. It is something usually played by the woman and we played with those tropes in the first film.<br />

Now a report has claimed that Gal Gadot refused to shoot a comic scene in which The Flash lands on her body in the middle of an intense fight sequence. Gadot felt that the scene sexualised Wonder Woman. Whedon, though persisted and when Gadot refused, he brought a body double to shoot the scene instead. Actor Ezra Miller played The Flash in the superhero film.</p>

Gal Gadot refused to film a sexualised scene in 'Justice League'; director Joss Whedon insisted and used a body double instead

<p>‘Wonder Woman 1984’ has now been postponed until August.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Warner Bros. film was to hit the theatres in June but due to the ongoing coronavirus scare and lockdowns all over the world, they have decided to now push the film until August 14.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“When we greenlit Wonder Woman 1984, it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and we are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theaters on Aug. 14,” Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros.’ chair, said in a statement. “We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then.”</p>

<p>‘Wonder Woman 1984’ is a sequel to the hit 2017 DC Comics movie.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, after the announcement, Gal Gadot who plays the superwoman character wrote on Twitter, “In these dark and scary times, I am looking forward to a brighter future ahead. Where we can share the power of cinema together again.”</p>

<p>'Wonder Woman' Gal Gadot along with some of her famous friends recreated John Lenon's classic 'Imagine' on Instagram for millions of their fans across the world.<br />

Gadot posted a video where she can be seen talking about her six days of self-quarantine and how the isolation has led her to feel "philosophical" about the global nature of the pandemic.<br />

In the video clip, the 34-year-old actor said she was inspired by a viral video from Italy, where the entire country is on lockdown, and an Italian man played 'Imagine' on his trumpet to his neighbours.<br />
<br />
Gadot then goes on to sing the opening lines of John Lenon's classic 'Imagine' and is later joined by numerous actors including Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Sarah Silverman, James Marsden, Kristen Wiig, and Amy Adams.</p>

<p>'Wonder Woman'&nbsp;Gal Gadot along with husband Jaron Varsano has launched a production firm Pilot Wave. The actor is also set to star in the firm's first production, 'Irena Sendler'.<br />

The fact-based historical thriller will see Gadot in the titular role which will also be produced by her along with Marc Platt, learned Deadline.<br />

Gadot's upcoming feature dates back to WWII and is set to narrate the story of a woman's defiant stand against Polish Nazi occupation and the incredible network she developed to care for and save 2500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto.<br />

The screenplay of the film will be written by Justine Juel Gillmer. Talking about their production company, Gadot and Varsano in a statement said, "As producers, we want to help bring stories that have inspired us to live.<br />

The film is based on the famous Agatha Christie novel 'Death on the Nile' and has Christie's favourite Hercule Poirot investigating a round of mysterious events that occur on a cruise ship on the river Nile.<br />

The film is part of the series by 20th Century Fox which earlier gave us the critically acclaimed 'Murder on the Orient Express' which boasted of a stellar cast including Penelope Cruz, Johnny Depp and others.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
'Death on the Nile' has previously been made in 1978 starring legends including Bette Davis, Maggie Smith, Mia Farrow and others. In the new adaptation, Fazal will join an A-list cast that will see the return of Branagh as Poirot, as well as Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer and Letitia Wright.<br />

<p>Netanyahu and his Likud party have been accused of using scare tactics and demonising Israel's Arab population ahead of April 9 elections in a bid to motivate their right-wing base.</p>

<p>"Love your neighbour as yourself," Israeli-born Gadot wrote on Instagram late Sunday after popular Israeli model and television actress Rotem Sela received online abuse from the public and a personal reprimand from Netanyahu.</p>

<p>"This isn't a matter of right or left. Jew or Arab. Secular or religious," the "Wonder Woman" star posted.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It's a matter of dialogue, of dialogue for peace and security and of our tolerance of one towards the other."</p>

<p>Sela fired off an angry Instagram post late Saturday after watching right-wing firebrand culture minister Miri Regev on TV.</p>

<p>Regev stated the Likud's line, warning voters in the April election not to choose its main opponents because if elected it would form an alliance with Israeli Arab parties in parliament -- a highly unlikely scenario.</p>

<p>"When the hell will someone in this government convey to the public that Israel is a state of all its citizens and that all people were created equal?" Sela wrote.</p>

<p>"Even the Arabs -- believe it or not -- are human beings, and the Druze and the gays, by the way, and the lesbians and -- shock -- leftists."</p>

<p>Netanyahu answered with an Instagram message of his own, addressed to "Dear Rotem".</p>

<p>"Israel is not a state of all its citizens," he wrote.</p>

<p>"According to the basic nationality law we passed, Israel is the nation-state of the Jewish people -- and only it."</p>

<p>He was referring to a deeply controversial law passed last year declaring Israel the nation-state of the Jewish people and downgrading Arabic's status as an official language.</p>

<p>He returned to the theme at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, where he called Israel a "Jewish, democratic state" with equal rights, but "the nation-state not of all its citizens, but only of the Jewish people".</p>

<p>Israeli Arabs make up around 17.5 per cent of the population.</p>

<p>Netanyahu has continually warned that his opponents will receive the support of Arab parties and that they will make significant concessions to the Palestinians.</p>

<p>Arab parties would be extremely unlikely to be part of any coalition government after elections.</p>

<p>Arab Israelis are Palestinians who remained on their land after the 1948 creation of Israel and are largely supportive of the Palestinian cause.</p>

<p>Gadot's message showed a re-post of Sela's comment in the background.</p>

<p>"Rotem, sister, you're an inspiration to us all," she wrote.</p>
