Delhi will return to its home ground Feroz Shah Kotla and will host table-toppers Hyderabad today. Their last encounter was won by the Kane-Williamson side by seven wickets.

Kotla has proved to be lucky for the home team of late - Shreyas Iyer has won both times he’s led the team out at this venue following Gautam Gambhir’s sudden resignation from the captaincy.

As Delhi stands last in the league table, its important for the franchise to beat Hyderabad to keep their chances of qualifying for the play-off alive.

For Delhi, Prithvi Shaw and skipper Shyeras Iyer are in red-hot form. The two smashed 65 and 45 runs respectively in their last match against Hyderabad.

In-form Rishab pant failed to contribute in his last match but is expected to play a superb knock today

It is the bowling department which has to play a different game today to restrict the opponents.

Hyderabad, on the other hand, are enjoying their game by sitting on top of the IPL table.

IPL 2018: Match preview - Revived Delhi to face table-toppers Hyderabad

Young Rishabh Pant cracked a blistering 69 while captain Shreyas Iyer (50) hit his fourth half-century of the season as Delhi kept themselves in the race for IPL play-offs with a nervy four-run win over Rajasthan Royals at Feroz Shah Kotla.

Earlier, Rajasthan won the toss and opted to bowl first and invited Delhi to bat but were guilty of feeding the home batsmen with deliveries either too short or too full, making the job easy for the hosts after rain made it an 18-overs per side affair.

Rain brought a premature end to the Delhi's innings when the hosts were 196 for six in 17.1 overs and Rajasthan set a revised target of 151 from 12 overs under Duckworth/Lewis method.

After receiving some battering from Joss Buttler, who thrashed the home bowlers with seven sixes and four fours in his 67-run knock, Delhi restricted the Rajasthan to 146 for five to notch up the win.

Delhi have now moved up to sixth from the eighth position with this win.

Young Prithvi Shaw (47) was yet again in sublime touch and raised a 73-run stand with his captain for the second wicket after the side lost Colin Munro (0) in the fourth ball of the innings.

After Shaw's dismissal, Iyer and Rishabh Pant combined to punish the wayward Royals' bowlers, adding 92 runs for the third wicket in just 7.1 overs.

Iyer hit his fourth fifty in last five matches as he consumed 35 balls for his 50, hitting three sixes and as many fours.

Pant hammered the Rajasthan's bowlers all around the park in his 29-ball knock, studded with seven fours and five sixes.

Jaydev Unadkat (3/46) removed both of them in the 15th over but by then Delhi had put up enough runs on the board.

Vijay Shankar (17) came out with some lusty hits to help the hosts get close to 200-run mark.

Royals were off to a fiery start with Buttler going berserk. The England batsman smashed Avesh Khan for three sixes and a four and also punished Liam Plunkett as Rajasthan collected 58 from four Power-play overs.

Buttler completed his fifty off just 18 balls when he lofted Amit Mishra for a six. As many as five bowlers were employed by Delhi but all of them got severe punishment from Buttler.

It was Mishra who finally gave the breakthrough by having the Briton stumped in the seventh over. Rajasthan needed a big knock from Ben Stokes (1) but he could not do much.

Opener D'Arcy Short (44 off 25) was also dismissed but K Gowtham somehow kept the Rajasthan in the hunt by striking a six and a four off Plunkett in the 11th over.

Rajasthan needed 15 from the last over but Trent Boult yet again did the job, conceding only 10 runs.

Earlier, Shaw stroked the ball nicely as he picked the lengths quickly but ended up giving a caught-and-bowled chance on a turning ball to leg-break bowler Shreyas Gopal in the eighth over.

His 47 came off 25 balls as he punished the Rajasthan bowlers with four fours and as many sixes.

After two quiet overs, Shaw began the fireworks as he creamed off 16 runs from Dhawal Kulkarni's over, hitting the paceman for two sixes and a four.

Kulkarni had a difficult chance in his follow through in the last ball of the over but could not hold on to it.

Shaw was in good touch and continued to find boundaries. The next bowler in his firing line was Unadkat, whom he smashed for two fours and a six.

Iyer joined the party by launching Gopal for two sixes. The first was off a full-length ball and the next was pitched short.

The spinner dismissed Shaw but conceded his fourth six of the innings when new man Pant launched him for a massive six over long-on.

Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes were the only bowlers who had managed to contain the rampaging Delhi batsmen a bit but Pant did not spare the West Indian when he bowled full and found the ball in the stands.
In no time, the two batsmen raised a 50-run stand, taking just 27 balls between them.

The bottom-placed Delhi are in desperate need of a victory to survive in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Shreyas Iyer-led side suffered a 13-run defeat at the hands of table-toppers Chennai.

They will face an inconsistent Rajasthan at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground, and the new skipper will be hoping to repeat the way Delhi performed against Kolkata to pick up the much-needed win.

Delhi have performed terrific with the bat in the previous two matches and will hope they can continue to do the same against Ajinkya Rahane-le side.

Big guns Glenn Maxwell (126 runs in seven matches), Jason Roy (97 in three matches) and Colin Munro (63 runs in four matches) have not made significant contributions so far and Delhi would be hoping for them to start performing now.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan will also be looking to make a comeback after they suffered 11-run defeat at the hands of Hyderabad in a low-scoring affair.

Skipper MS Dhoni led his team from the front to defeat Delhi in yesterday's game in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

The Chennai skipper was supported by another brilliant batsman&nbspAmbati Rayudu, who once again impressed with the bat yesterday.

But it was something else which made the match a memorable one.&nbsp

On Monday, Dhoni and Rayudu were again at it, adding 79 runs in just six overs to reach a step closer to victory over Delhi.&nbsp

However, on the penultimate ball of Chennai innings, an incident took place that led to a laugh riot.

Trent Boult, bowling the last over for Delhi, delivered a bouncer to Dhoni who went for a pull-shot.&nbsp

The skipper only managed to get a slight edge with Rishabh Pant putting down a tough chance down the leg side.

Between all this, Rayudu decided to sneak in a single but Dhoni was not aware of it. &nbsp

The 30th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between confident Chennai and resurgent Delhi on Monday.

Tipped to possess the most destructive batting lineup this season, Delhi have found the going tough and have lost five out of seven whereas Chennai, ridiculed as an 'old outfit', have just done the exact opposite to be placed second with ten points.

Chennai have been ruthless this season managing to win five out of seven matches played. But if we talk about the two teams, then after Gautam Gambhir decided to step down as captain, the resurgent Delhi defeated Kolkata by 55 runs.

Opener Prithvi Shaw and new skipper Shreyas Iyer smashed a half-century each to set a mammoth total of 219.

But, Iyer has to plan new strategies to survive this IPL and especially to defeat Chennai today.

The bowlers also performed against Kolkata with Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Amit Mishra taking two wickets apiece.

Delhi will have to bowl out of their skin if they want to restrict the star-studded Chennai batting line-up to a paltry total.

Chennai, on the other hand, would be equally keen to get back to winning ways after they lost their last match to Mumbai by 8 wickets.

Newly appointed skipper Shreyas Iyer thrashed the Kolkata bowlers and scored unbeaten 93 runs for the team with a strike rate of 140.91

Shreyas Iyer's unbeaten 93-run knock helped Delhi to set 220-run target for Kolkata on Friday. Earlier, Kolkata skipper Dinesh Karthik had won the toss and opted to bowl to take the advantage of the pitch at Feroz Shah Kotla. It was expected that Kolkata might dominate as Delhi recently have been through quite a lot and also placed at the bottom of the points table. From Injury woes to tragic defeats, Delhi has faced it all. Recently, Gautam Gambhir stepped down as the captain and in his absence, Shreyas Iyer was been given the responsibility to lead the team. Under Shreyas' guidance, Delhi team was looking a bit settled on the field today. Especially, the batsmen were able to hold the innings and did not throw their wickets. The openers, Prithvi Shaw and Colin Munro gave a required start to the team. Munro scored 33 runs before Shivan Mavi outbowled him. Under-19 star Prithvi Shaw played an extraordinary inning and score 63 runs for the team. IPL 2018: Shreyas shines in skipper role as Delhi set 220-run target for Kolkata

Gautam Gambhir has not been included in the squad of Delhi for the match against Kolkata on Friday, April 27 at Feroz Shah Kotla.

A few days back, Gambhir had stepped down as Delhi's captain and in his absence, Shreyas Iyer has been given the responsibility to lead the team.

So far Gambhir has scored just 85 runs in all six matches he played with a strike rate of 96.59 which is lowest among all other captains of IPL 2018.

Currently, MS Dhoni's strike rate is best of all, which is above 151 and his outstanding batting is reflected in Chennai's overall performance as well.

In a recent media interaction, when Gambhir had announced that he quit the captaincy, chief of Delhi franchise, Hemant Dua, had indicated that Gambhir will be guiding the players.

So, does that mean that Gautam Gambhir has been dropped from the team following his poor performance in IPL 2018?

IPL 2018: Dinesh Karthik opts to bowl against Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi

Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi host Kolkata on Friday at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Delhi is currently placed at the bottom of points table and recently got a major blow when Gautam Gambhir on Wednesday stepped down as the captain and in his absence, Shreyas Iyer has been given the responsibility to lead the team.

Under the guidance of new captain, team Delhi is looking forward to reviving the current form.

Kolkata is currently placed at number four and will look to earn two crucial points to stretch the lead from Rajasthan.

On one hand, Delhi eye to salvage their pride but on the other Kolkata will be happy as their opponents are going through such a poor state.

The only change for Kolkata would be Andre Russell because he stretched his right hamstring while fielding in the last clash against Punjab. Other than that, the squad is fit and healthy.

For Delhi, under-19 stars have managed to fix their spots but Shreyas Iyer might rehash the squad to make a fresh start in the ongoing tournament. Also, Shahbaz Nadeem is expected to come back as Amit Mishra was effective in the last match.

IPL 2018: Match preview of Delhi vs Kolkata

Struck by the crisis emanating from Gautam Gambhir's resignation as captain, a beleaguered Delhi face a herculean task to revive their IPL campaign when they clash with Kolkata tomorrow under young skipper Shreyas Iyer.&nbsp

Gambhir leaving captaincy midway into the tournament does not guarantee resurrection of the side but the left-hander's decision has given the team management a chance to infuse new life into the franchise with new ideas.

Gambhir's rough patch, along with poor form of other batsmen, has resulted in over-reliance on young Rishabh Pant. The team has lost five of its six matches and is languishing at the bottom of the points table.

Gambhir the batsman would still be critical if a turnaround has to happen for the franchise but it remains to be seen if he remains in the playing XI.

The hosts are now in an unenvious position where they need to win seven of the remaining eight matches to be in Play-offs contention.&nbsp

The 23-year-old Iyer is faced with the enormous task of turning it around for the team as a leader.

The young batsman showed that he has the heart for a fight when he took it upon himself to steer the side against Punjab.

He almost pulled it off but fell short by one big shot. However, it was a performance which indicated that he is not averse to taking responsibility, which is the need of the hour.&nbsp

Delhi have not been particularly lucky on the fitness front either with Jason Roy (side strain) and Chris Morris (back problem) recovering.

The only game Delhi have won so far was shaped by Roy's unbeaten whirlwind knock of 91 on debut.&nbsp

A big player not to have clicked for them is Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.&nbsp

Maxwell has scores of 17, 13, 47, 4 and 12 so far and it is absolutely imperative for the Daredevils that he regains his form.

On the other hand, Kolkata&nbspare also struggling a bit with their bowling. But what has worked reasonably well for them is their batting. Their willow-wielders have been contributing consistently, twice taking the side past the 200-mark but bowlers have struggled to defend even big totals.&nbsp

Kolkata have won three matches and lost as many to sit fourth in the table.

The last time the two sides clashed, it was Kolkata which dominated by putting 200 runs on the board to win by a comprehensive 71-run margin.

It's a spin-heavy attack with Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla doing the bulk of the job.

The slow conditions at the Feroze Shah Kotla are likely to suit this combination while the young Shivam Mavi and England's Tom Curran would spearheading the pace attack.

Australian quick Mitchell Johnson has got only two games so far.

Andre Russell has done a fine all-round job for them and the West Indian continues to be a vital cog for them. His brute power would be of immense use on Kotla pitch where the ball may not come on to the bat easily. The conditions will testing for Kolkata batsmen.&nbsp

Traffic congestion doesn't only cause inconvenience, other than contributing to the dipping air quality, traffic jams also cost the economy. Boston Consultancy Group, a global consultancy firm has come up with a report stating that traffic congestion in top Indian cities -- Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata -- cost nearly Rs. 1.5 lakh crore annually to the economy.

According to the report, commuters usually end up spending almost one-and-a-half time longer to travel the usual distance during peak hours -- 7 to 9 am and 6 to 8 pm.

Kolkata was rated the worst city when it came to traffic congestion followed by Bengaluru. The report suggested Delhiites to still have a better experience with traffic congestions over commuters in cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata, owing to a better road network.

The report surveyed almost 300 people from each city and studied the top modes of transportation used by the public. Delhi, for instance, had most people commuting via private cards while for Mumbaikars public transport like the local train was the top choice of transportation.

The report also suggested Bengaluru to be in a pressing need of better road network.

Diesel prices in the three cities touched record highs of Rs. 65.65, Rs. 68.35, Rs. 69.91 and Rs. 69.27 respectively.

The petrol and diesel prices across the country are revised on a day to day revisions by state-run oil marketing companies which is determined by international crude oil price.

The rise in crude oil prices is due to the ongoing supply cut of oil by the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), coupled with a strong global demand for crude causing a hike in petrol and diesel prices in India.

Delhi's campaign in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) has not been great as they lost 4 out of the 5 games they have played.&nbsp

They are currently ranked at the bottom of the table with 2 points.&nbsp

All the five games Delhi played were not home matches. But today they will start their home leg which may turn the things in their favour.&nbsp

There has been a lot of worries for Delhi, the main is the form of their skipper Gautam Gambhir who so far has a nominal average of 20.25. He has failed to provide consistency to the batting line up.

The devastating Glenn Maxwell also failed to score big for his franchise.&nbsp

Even their bowling department looks flattened despite having bowlers like Mohammad Shami, Trent Boult and Chris Morris.

They failed to restrict opposition's batting attack both in Power-play and death overs. Shahbaz Nadeem too seemed to have lost his zeal with which he made his name in the previous season.
&nbsp
Only positive they carry is the form of young Rishabh pant who single-handedly has provided some stability to the side, along with him the Englishmen Jason Roy.

Roy displayed his form when he made a brilliant 91 against Mumbai at Wankhede. Hope his form continues.

They have already been defeated by Punjab at Mohali at the start of their campaign and now the Punjab team looks more threatening with solid opening combo of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle.&nbsp

Their bowling attack is also strong with Ashwin himself leading the department along with mysterious Mujeeb, Mohit and Sarn.&nbsp

Blog: Delhi's home leg may change their fortune in IPL 2018

Delhi and Punjab are all set to lock their horns for the second time in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL). While Punjab ranks second in the IPL Standings, Delhi is last after facing four defeats out of five matches played so far. Delhi will be playing at their home ground and are expected to come out strong against Punjab to seal today's game.

So, let us take a look at the players to watch out for in today's big clash.

1. Chris Gayle - 'The Universal Boss' Chris Gayle has proved that he still has a lot of cricket left in him as he smashed a century and two half-centuries in a total of three games he has played so far in IPL 2018 for Punjab. As he did not play the previous match against Delhi, so it will be interesting to see if he will succeed in giving us next century or will return to the stadium at a paltry score.

2. Yuvraj Singh - His poor form has been a serious cause of concern for Punjab. Being picked up at his base price of Rs 2 crore, he has not contributed much so far this season. Being one of the most experienced batsmen when it comes to the Firoz Shah Kotla ground, it will important to see him score high runs for his team in today's game.

3. Gautam Gambhir - This season he was welcomed back to his home team. But despite his great captaincy skills, Delhi hasn't performed well so far. Today, Gambhir will play at their home ground and is expected to give a tough fight to Punjab bowlers.

4. Risabh Pant - Pant slammed 85 runs off 48 balls against Bangalore. His innings included six fours and seven sixes. He is capable of hitting big strokes and can be a dependent player during crucial times. His experience and ability to deplete against any bowling attack makes him a player to watch out for in today's game.

5. R Ashwin - Ashwin got his big break this season when he was picked up by Punjab for 7.6 crores and was handed over the captaincy role. The veteran spinner proved his worth by putting Punjab at the 2nd position in the league table. But, if we talk about his individual performance then he has been good with the bat but not with the ball. In five matches played so far, he took only five wickets. So it will be interesting to see him swinging wickets in Punjab's favour as he has a good knowledge of the Kotla ground.

In a delightful news, Delhiites will now get hourly compensation of Rs 100 in case of unscheduled power cuts with the same being adjusted in their monthly bills, Power Minister Satyendar Jain said Friday.

Lt Governor Anil Baijal had Thursday approved the initiative by the Delhi government.

"There is real-time data of outages and if an unscheduled power cut affects more than 50 consumers in an area, they need not complain. The compensation will be adjusted in their monthly bills," the minister told reporters in Delhi.

The real-time data of outages is maintained by power discoms and the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC).&nbsp

"The policy has been made to ensure accountability of discoms to consumers," Jain said.

The proposal has now been sent to the DERC and it will be notified soon, he said.

As per the policy, the discoms will not have to pay compensation if outage lasts for one hour. For next one hour, they will pay the same at the rate of Rs 50 per consumer. They will have to pay Rs 100 for each hour following first two hours of power cut.

Delhi has nearly 50 lakh domestic and 10 lakh commercial power connections, the minister said.

In order to remove the problems of outages caused by technical reasons, a large number of transformers have been installed and the power cuts in Delhi are least in the country, he said.
