The personal data of millions of patients in top premier medical institute, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in India's capital New Delhi, is at risk after a ransomware attack on its servers. As per the latest update, the hand of Chinese hackers is suspected behind this attack. Most likely, the dark web, the hidden internet, was used to sell the stolen data. Over 1,600 searches for stolen AIIMS data were found, according to statistics. Details on VVIPs, including politicians and celebrities, are included in the stolen material. The cyber attack, which media reports citing insiders said is likely to have been done by Chinese hackers, specifically targeted five main AIIMS servers.

The staff at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) is now investigating the data leak. But according to representatives of Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO), no data was lost. This is the first time IFSO has dealt with a hacking case. The primary goal of the hackers was to extort money, and more research is being done, as per reports. According to PTI news agency, hackers allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 200 crore (Rs 20 million) in cryptocurrency. It is anticipated that the data leak discovered last Wednesday early may have affected three-four crore patients.

The emergency, outpatient, inpatient, and laboratory wings' patient care services are now being administered manually because the servers are still down. Additionally, the AIIMS network sanitization is ongoing. The antivirus programmes are being installed on desktops and servers and approximately 1,200 of the 5,000 machines have been secured. According to PTI, 20 out of 50 servers have been inspected, and this work is going on 24/7.

The cyber attack on the AIIMS Delhi has compromised the personal data of millions of patients, including 'VVIPs' such as civil servants and politicians, according to officials aware of the development. AIIMS on Tuesday suspended two junior technicians from the computer IT division. However, no action had been taken against senior officials of the department till now.

The mystery over Delhi Shraddha murder case is still lingering on in India's capital New Delhi. Just in time as the Delhi police is investigating Walkar's gruesome killing, another chilling murder has now come to limelight from eastern part of the city, according to multiple reports. Delhi Police crime branch have reportedly arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her husband, Anjan Das, with her son's aid. According to the police, woman reportedly had insinuations that her husband was indulged in an extramarital affair. When Poonam discovered that her husband had sold her jewellery and sent the proceeds to his first wife, who resided in Bihar with their eight children, she allegedly became outraged, according to the police.

Poonam allegedly conspired to kill her husband with the help of her son from a previous marriage. Poonam's ex-husband reportedly died of cancer in 2017. Deepak reportedly agreed to the to help Poonam in executing the hatched plot because Das allegedly harassed his wife.

After allegedly killing her husband, both mother and son, Poonam and Dipak, chopped up Das's body parts into 10 pieces. Later, to hide the crime, they stored the pieces in the fridge just like Aaftab Poonawala in Delhi Shraddha murder case. Poonam and Dipak later disposed them off Das's body parts across several parts in east Delhi.

Here's what happened

In June, as per media reports, the body parts were originally discovered by police in Pandav Nagar in Eastern Delhi. After discovering the body parts, the police filed a murder case. However, as per media reports, because the body parts had already begun to decompose the inquiry could not continue. When the horrifying details of Shraddha Walkar murder case began to surface earlier this month, police reportedly investigated if the unidentified body parts belonged to her.

CCTV footages and other gory details

The crime branch reportedly examined the CCTV video from the location where the body parts were discovered as part of their inquiry. According to the video, mother and son were doing to and fro on various occasions in the neighbourhood at night. When the police were conducting investigation it was reportedly found that Anjan Das, a resident of Pandav Nagar in east Delhi, had been missing for approximately six months. They discovered that the man's family had not filed any police complaints. Das was reportedly murdered in June by the accused Poonam and Dipak. Poonam and Deepak during interrogation confessed of committing the crime, as per media reports.

The police claimed that after spiking his drink, mother-son killed Das while he was unconscious. Deepak reportedly can be seen roaming about the neighbourhood with a backpack in his hand in startling CCTV footage. He is followed by his mother Poonam. According to the police, they made multiple visits to dispose off the body parts of Das.

Shraddha Delhi murder case: Aaftab Poonawala's polygraph test, Drishyam connection, what we know so far

The administration of India's largest mosque, Jama Masjid in Delhi, has rolled back an earlier order prohibiting entry to women and girls who are not accompanied by relatives. The move had faced criticism, and the mosque has now claimed it was only intended to stop "obscene activities" in the premises.

Syed Ahmed Bukhari, the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid, told ANI news agency that they had observed several instances over the previous few days where women and girls were engaging in "obscene activities with men" inside the mosque. As a result, the masjid's committee decided to post a notice outside the entry gates stating that "women who aren't accompanied by their family members or are alone are not allowed inside the mosque." On Thursday, someone discovered the warning that had been posted a few days earlier.

Unaccompanied women frequently meet men within the mosque and have a tendency to "act improperly" and "wait for their dates," the masjid had stated, while those who arrive with family members are allowed entry.

Following the announcement, Delhi Lieutenant-General V.K. Saxena got in touch with Shahi Imam Bukhari and asked him to revoke the directive. Both the National Commission for Women and the Delhi Commission for Women strongly condemned the ruling and demanded that the necessary steps be taken.

Shahi Imam Bukhari said: “The mosque is a place of worship and not for couples who do improper activities. We do not have any issues with couples coming here but they should only come here to offer namaz. I spoke to L.G. Saxena and our administration has decided to take back the order. We only issued it to preserve the sanctity of the mosque. Hereon, whenever we see a couple indulging in such activities, we will counsel them and call their parents to instruct them to not do so. The masjid administration does not want to prevent anyone from worshipping”.

India: Jama Masjid rolls back order telling women to be accompanied by relatives for entering

Delhi police has finally solved a six-month-old case of a missing girl and as the investigations dig deeper, bone chilling details of a brutal murder have emerged.

WION Dispatch: Delhi police solve six-month-old murder case

A 28-year-old Indian man in the capital New Delhi allegedly killed his girlfriend, chopped her into 35 pieces, stored them in a refrigerator he bought for that purpose and then disposed of them across the city for 18 days.

The Delhi Police arrested the accused, Aftab Ameen Poonawalla, on Saturday for the brutal murder of his 26-year-old live-in partner Shraddha Walkar. He has been sent to five-day police custody.

According to reports, the couple is from western Mumbai city in Maharashtra state. Aftab is a food blogger and runs a social media page with his brother Ahad Poonawala.

It was during this time that he met and fell in love with Walkar, and shifted to Delhi after their families were opposed to their marriage because of their faith. The man was from a Muslim household, while the woman was a Hindu.

The couple had been living at a rented apartment in the Chhatarpur area, Mehrauli police told ANI news agency. Both were working at a call centre.

The incident is said to have taken place on May 18 after Walkar started forcing him to marry her, officers said.

Aftab strangled her girlfriend to death and took inspiration from the American crime-drama The Dexter--in which the protagonist is a forensic expert who led a double life as a serial killer--to dispose of her remains.

The incident came to light when Walkar stopped talking to her parents. They grew even more suspicious after checking her social media account, which had no updates.

Then the girl’s father, Vikas, came to Delhi to check on his daughter. But found her flat locked, following which he filed a missing person complaint with the police, detailing her daughter’s boyfriend.

On the basis of his complaint, the police launched an investigation, traced Aftab, and arrested him.

During interrogation, Aftab confessed to the crime and said that they often fought as Walkar was pressurising him for marriage.

India's capital city of Delhi has a notorious reputation for being unsafe for women. Recently released data by the country's National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has done little to improve on the said reputation by terming Delhi as the most unsafe metropolitan city in India for women.

Reportedly, Delhi saw a more than 40 per cent rise in crimes against women in 2021, compared to a year prior. A total of 13,500 crimes were reported against the fairer sex in 2021, compared to a little under 10,000 in 2020.

Of the 43,414 crimes reported against women in 19 major cities across the country, Delhi accounted for 32.20 per cent of the cases, suggesting that law and order authorities were not working properly to create a safe environment for women.

Amongst the category of crimes, over 3,948 cases of abduction and kidnapping were reported while 2,022 cases of assault on women with an intent to outrage their modesty were registered by the Bureau.

Similarly, 1,357 reported cases were under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (girl child victims only) while 833 cases of girl child rape came from the capital city alone.

However, what may come as most surprising is the cases of dowry deaths, despite a concerted campaign by the central and state government to discourage dowry.

According to the data, the national capital witnessed 136 cases of dowry deaths, which again accounted for 36.36 per cent of the total cases.
