Currently, as instructed by the Election Commission (EC), the mandatory 48-hour silence period is on and will continue till 6 pm, February 5.

The polling stations will open at 7 am and are scheduled to close at 6:30 pm.
According to the official data, Delhi has around 1.56 crore voters, who are eligible to cast votes across 13,766 polling stations.&nbsp;

The BJP unveiled its manifesto titled "Viksit Dilli Sankalp Patra". The party, under the leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, promised Mahila Samriddhi Yojana (Women Prosperity Scheme), an expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, and ₹10 lakh health insurance for senior citizens and economically disadvantaged families.&nbsp;
The saffron party has also promised to provide 50,000 government jobs for the youth. Further, it also said that the party will provide free electricity for up to 200 units, ₹500 subsidy on LPG cylinders along with giving free cylinders during festivals like Holi and Diwali.&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Congress has promised ₹2,500 per month for women under the Pyari Didi Yojana. Competing against BJP and AAP, the party also said that it would provide free electricity for up to 300 units if it formed a government in Delhi.
Moreover, to all the qualified jobless people, the party has promised a monthly support amount of ₹8,500.

According to the latest data, there are 699 candidates in this year's poll. The Delhi Assembly has 70 constituencies, and the term of this Assembly is set to conclude on Feb 23.&nbsp;

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, in a response to the Election Commission's demand for providing evidence to back his claims stating that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Haryana government attempted "genocide" by mixing "poison" in the Yamuna river supplied to Delhi, said he made the &lsquo;Yamuna poisoning&rsquo; remark in public interest.&nbsp;
Kejriwal has now challenged the BJP and Congress leaders to drink Yamuna water.
"We have four bottles... will send to each one of them... please drink and show us. Then we will believe," he said in a press briefing as he pointed towards plastic bottles filled with Yamuna water.

Modi addressed a public meeting in Delhi's Kartar Nagar, where he criticised AAP leaders, comparing them to notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj, known for deceiving people.
"You may have heard of Charles Sobhraj, he was a known thug. He was such an expert at duping people with innocence that every time people would get duped by him. That is why one has to remain cautious of such people," he said.

"We will conduct a Delhi caste survey to enumerate the various deprived classes in Delhi in the first Cabinet meeting of the state government," the manifesto mentioned.
The manifesto, with 219 points, covers a wide range of areas such as health, education, women's issues, minorities, Scheduled Castes, Purvanchalis, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

"We will provide scholarships and hostels for transgender persons. We will provide horizontal reservations to the transgender community in education and jobs in accordance with the Supreme Court's 2014 NALSA judgment. We will provide universally accessible washrooms for transgender people in public spaces," it said.
A free Char Dham Yatra will be organised for the Dalit community to the pilgrimage sites associated with Gautam Buddha, Sarnath, and Bodh Gaya, the birthplace of Sant Ravidas, and the birthplace of Babasaheb Ambedkar in Mhow.
A designated area along the Yamuna River will be declared a district for celebrating Chhath Mahaparv; the ghat on the Yamuna will be named after the late Sharda Sinha. A ministry will be set up to ensure the welfare of Purvanchalis, it said.
"We will support startups and innovation by creating incubation centres, and will offer seed funding for startups and small enterprises. We will expand free Wi-Fi coverage in public areas to support professionals working remotely," it said.

Bidhuri is a former two-time Lok Sabha MP from South Delhi.
He is also a Delhi High Court advocate by profession.
His comment triggered off a lot of attention and went viral on social media platforms.
According to a report on Hindustan Times newspaper, the Congress party candidate from the Kalkaji constituency, Alka Lamba, accused Bidhuri of "insulting" women using his "usual indecent language."
Lamba also demanded an apology from Bidhuri for the remarks against Gandhi.
She said, "Bidhuri ji should publicly apologise and the top leaders should clarify their opinion on this."
The BJP in a statement said that the party does not tolerate any type of disrespectful comments against women.
The party added that such remarks should not be made by any member or election candidate.
After facing criticism from his own party, Bidhuri issued a clarification.
In a post on X, he said, "What I said, I compared it with what was said earlier. When two people make mistake, both need to rectify. If Congress will rectify their mistake, the same will be done by us as well."
Bidhuri was referring to an old statement of Lalu Prasad Yadav against the actress and BJP MP from Mathura, Hema Malini.

Kakkar claimed that Congress thwarted all efforts by the INDIA bloc to forge an alliance in Haryana and "didn't feel it necessary to take its ally along with them." The AAP and Congress failed to stitch up a pre-poll alliance due to differences over seat sharing.

Kakkar attributed the AAP's winning one seat in the Jammu and Kashmir to the party's development-driven politics.

Arrests under Excise Act spike after announcement of Delhi elections

Before Delhi goes to poll on February 9, Aam Aadmi Party's National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today released the party manifesto, titled ''Kejriwal ka Guarantee Card''.

The CM has promised 200 units of free electricity, Mohalla marshals, and 24x7 clean water to the residents of New Delhi. 
 
"This guarantee speaks about things which affect every resident of Delhi. We have already fulfilled some promises. We are now promising in our guarantee card that it will continue.

"The city will be freed from the web of wires and electricity will reach each household through underground cables," Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal also said that the provision for 20,000 litres of free water would remain in place.&nbsp;

World-class education has been at the forefront of Kejriwal's agenda since he delved into politics. The CM added that new Mohalla clinics and polyclinics will be unveiled in the coming years.

He has also promised 11,000 new buses for the people of Delhi. Additionally, free rides can now be availed not just by women, but also by students.

Kejriwal additionally asserted that he would reduce air pollution three-fold and that a Yamuna cleaning drive would be undertaken. 
 
"Two crores trees will be planted in the next five years," Kejriwal said.
