‘Invited MS Dhoni for my 100th Test but…,’ Ravi Ashwin makes a startling revelation

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has joined the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the upcoming season, which starts March 22. Jadeja, who was part of India's Champions Trophy 2025 winning campaign, joined the franchise in the famous 'Pushpa' movie style.
In a video shared by CSK on X, Jadeja can be seen doing the famous Pushpa move where he slides the back of his hand across his chin from right to left. IPL 2025: ‘I feel I am a very senior person,’ Ashwin’s first impression of CSK homecoming

The five-time IPL winners, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against their oldest rivals and the joint-most successful IPL team – Mumbai Indians, in the first of the two matches on Sunday evening (March 23). Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Yellow Brigade has plenty to look forward to this season, with, for the nth time since his international retirement, all eyeballs will be on the veteran gloveman MS Dhoni. R Ashwin retired from international cricket on Wednesday (Dec 18) following the Gabba Test between India and Australia, of the ongoing 2024/25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), in Brisbane. After his retirement, he announced that he would be leaving for India and the wily spinner reached his hometown Chennai on Thursday (Dec 19). Meeting&nbsp;reporters in his hometown post his arrival, Ashwin made it clear that he has 'no regrets' and aspires to play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for long.

Talking to the media, Ashwin quashed rumours of having regrets of not captaining India during his 14-year-long career. He said, "I can't any more. It's done. No, I have zero regrets. I have seen so many people with regrets from afar, but I don't want to live my life like that."

On his plans post retirement, the 38-year-old Ashwin stated, "I want to be idle-no immediate plans. Being idle is difficult for me.

He added,&nbsp;"I am going to play for CSK, and don't be surprised if I try and aspire to play for as long as I can. I don't think Ashwin the cricketer is done. I think Ashwin the Indian cricketer has probably called it time. That's it."

Speaking on a YouTube podcast, Modi said, "He (N Srinivasan) didn’t like IPL, he didn’t think IPL will work, but when it started to work, everybody got on the bandwagon. He was member and secretary of the board also, so he was the biggest adversary of mine. I went up against him, so he did many things, umpire fixing, he said, ‘I did it'.”&nbsp;

“I accused him for it. He would change the umpire and I didn’t think two things about it. But then I realised he is putting Chennai umpire in Chennai games, it’s an issue for me. That’s called fixing, so when I tried to expose those, he went totally against me,” he further revealed.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction was done over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with all the 10 franchises vying with each other to fill up 246 possible slots out of a total of 578 registered players.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) entered the auction with the highest purse and made a huge buy in Shreyas Iyer for INR 26.75 crore (above $3 million) while Rishabh Pant went to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 27 crore (approx $3.1 million).

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased ace India spinner and ex-franchise player Ravichandran Ashwin for $1.1mn (INR 9.75 crore) on day one of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming, who was present at the auction table, reflected on Ashwin’s ‘homecoming’, who played for the side for six seasons (2009-2015) before.

Recently, MS Dhoni was asked about his lingering retirement from the cash-rich T20 league and had said that he'd like to 'enjoy last few years.'

“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I can play,” the 43-year-old had said at a promotional event, as quoted by Times of India.

“When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” he continued.

The IPL has revived the rule under which a player who has not played for India for last five years in any format (or retired for five years) will be considered as an uncapped player.

All 10 teams have a total of six retention and RTM options, which they can use in a combination as well. For example, if a team retains only one player, then&nbsp;it'll have five RTM options at the auction and vice versa.
