The two girls "made statements about the matter and in the end admitted the crime", Locker said.

Mannweiler further mentioned that the girls and Luise were acquainted.

He refrained from providing further information since the suspects are too young to be prosecuted for their crimes in Germany due to their age.&nbsp;

Luise was supposed to go from her friend's house to her own, but when she didn't return on Saturday night, her parents became worried.

Her disappearance led to&nbsp;a massive search operation that entailed dozens of police, a helicopter, drones, and sniffer dogs.&nbsp;

In Germany, 14 years old is considered the beginning of criminal responsibility.

Some of the other crimes Indian citizens in Nepal were charged with&nbsp;included dealing contraband drugs, kidnapping, forgery, and so on.&nbsp;

The records at the Nepal Police Headquarters also show that Chinese nationals are involved in “more serious crimes” such as murder and organised crimes when compared to Indians, reported the Kathmandu Post. This comes as murder cases were filed against two Chinese citizens by the police this year, while there are no such cases registered against any other foreign nationals.&nbsp;

Some other crimes allegedly committed by Chinese nationals included smuggling drugs, rape, misbehaviour, and so on. After Indian and Chinese citizens, Thai nationals were third on the list with five arrests made by the Nepal police this fiscal year, reported the Kathmandu Post. In 2021-22 police arrested a total of 108 foreigners from 41 countries with 31 Indians, followed by 16 Chinese nationals and 13 Bangladeshis.&nbsp;

A brazen diamond heist at Brussels airport appears to be becoming a near-perfect crime as almost a decade passed and the precious stones still remain missing.

On Wednesday, four more accused were acquitted, making it unclear whether the authorities will ever find the mastermind.

The heist was compared to the Hollywood movie Ocean’s Eleven for such a clinical and clean execution, which left no one hurt.

The court had convicted one person and sentenced him to five years in prison while recovering a small part of the loot which was estimated to be worth $50 million in 2013, and 18 others were acquitted in 2018.

In the Indian capital Delhi, another brutal case of a man murdering his live-in partner has come to the light.&nbsp;This&nbsp;case has once again reminded the country of the notorious Shraddha Walker case, which shocked India just a couple of months back.&nbsp;Sahil Gehlot, who is a resident of Haryana's Jhajjar, has been accused of murdering his live-in partner Nikki Yadav and stuffing her body in the refrigerator of a Dhaba (a roadside eatery) he owns. What adds to the shock value of this case is the fact that after murdering his girlfriend, the man married another woman the same day. A magistrate has now sent Gehlot to five days of police custody. Meanwhile, authorities will hold an investigation, collect evidence and question the accused.

As per an IANS report, Gehlot murdered Yadav around the Kashmiri Gate bus stand area and then drove her body some 36 kilometres to his eatery, which is located on the outskirts of Delhi's Mitraon village.

The police reportedly on February 10th got a tip-off that a man by the name of Sahil Gehlot has killed his girlfriend, before marrying another on the day of the murder.

As per Special Commissioner of Police, Crime, Ravindra Singh Yadav, when a police team reached Mitraon village, Gehlot was nowhere to be found. In addition, his phone was switched off.&nbsp;However, they managed to nab him at the Kair village crossing.&nbsp;

After Shraddha Walker murder case, another brutal killing shocks the Indian capital Delhi

The head of a prestigious private school, Emma Pattison, 45, in the United Kingdom’s town of Surrey was found dead alongside her husband George, 39, and their seven-year-old daughter on Sunday (February 5). According to the local police, an investigation is underway. The police were called to the school at 1:00 am (local time) when they found the Pattison family dead on a property on school grounds, as per media reports.&nbsp;

The 45-year-old had become Epsom's first female head only five months ago after she joined the school this academic year in September. Previously, Pattison was the head of Croydon High school in South London for six years. While her husband was a chartered accountant and director of a management consultancy firm called Tanglewood 2016, as per Companies House. The school which was founded in 1855 is now attended by more than 850 boys and girls.

Meanwhile, Dr Alastair Wells, chair of the board of governors at Epsom College, in a statement, has expressed utter shock and disbelief at the tragic news. He added, “Our immediate thoughts and condolences are with Emma’s family, friends and loved ones, and to the many pupils and colleagues whose lives she enriched throughout her distinguished career. Emma was a wonderful teacher, but most of all she was a delightful person.”

“In time we will commemorate Emma and her family, in the appropriate way, and in line with the wishes of her family. But for now, we ask that we are all given the time, space and respect we need to come to terms with this tragic loss,” said Dr Wells.&nbsp;

In an email to the parents, he also assured that counsellors would be available to staff and students for support. Notably, Emma with her entire family including their pet Labrador, Bella, stayed at&nbsp;Epsom College. In a statement, the Surrey police said that while the investigation is underway at this stage, “police are confident that this is an isolated incident with no third-party involvement.”

“We're aware that this tragic incident will have caused concern and upset in the local community. While this is believed to be an isolated incident, in the coming days our local officers will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, parents, teachers and the local community,” said Inspector Jon Vale, Epsom and Ewell’s borough commander.&nbsp;

He added, “I would like to thank the school and the community for their understanding and patience while the investigation continues.” Meanwhile, the school has appointed Paul Williams as acting headmaster, as per BBC. The Surrey police have also said that the deaths have been reported to the coroner. A judge on Wednesday (November 16)&nbsp; sent to jail without parole the man who killed six and injured several when he drove his SUV through a Christmas parade.

The incident took place on November 21, 2021, when Darrell Brooks&nbsp;Jr. 40, drove over the parade in his red Ford Escape in downtown Waukesha. Six were killed including an eight-year-old child. Several others were severely injured.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The judge sentenced him on 76 charges, including six of first-degree intentional homicide and 61 counts of reckless endangerment. Jennifer Dorrow, Waukesha, County Circuit Judge,&nbsp;rejected all arguments from him and his family claiming that his mental illness made him do this, AP reported.&nbsp;

It was found that on November 21, Brooks left his house in anger after having a fight with his ex-girlfriend.&nbsp;

"Frankly, Mr. Brooks, no one is safe from you,” Dorrow&nbsp;said. “This community can only be safe if you are behind bars for the rest of your life. ... You left a path of destruction, chaos, death, injury and panic as you drove seven or so blocks through the Christmas parade."

However, before the judge handed the life sentences, Brooks claimed that he's been mentally ill since he was a child and that the incident that took place was not intentional. Rambling over his growing up with no father, poor,&nbsp;hungry and physically abused, he&nbsp;said that he has been dealing with illness all his life. In court, his mother and grandmother tried to persuade Dorrow to place Brooks in a mental institution rather than in prison. His grandmother claimed that Brooks had bipolar disorder and whatever that happened was not intentional. His mother, Dawn Woods tried persuading the judge&nbsp;to let Brooks receive treatment in prison.&nbsp;

Dorrow, before handing the sentences, said that she doesn't believe that Brooks is suffering from any mental illness. She said that four psychologists who evaluated him said that he suffers from an antisocial personality but not a mental illness. She added that whatever Brooks did was in anger and rage.&nbsp;

Offering his apologies to all the victims and to their families, Brooks said, " I want you to know that not only am I sorry for what happened, I’m sorry that you could not see what’s truly in my heart,” he said. “That you cannot see the remorse that I have."

A day prior to the hearing, Dorrow spent an entire day listening to the dozens of victims and their families to sentence Brooks maximum possible sentence.&nbsp;

Islamic televangelist and sex cult leader sentenced to 8,658 years in prison by Turkish court

The United States has returned 192 artefacts worth $3.4 million to Pakistan.&nbsp;One of the prominent stolen artefacts of Buddha or a Gandharan statue of a Maitreya that was stolen from Pakistan during the 1990s and trafficked into New York County is among the items being returned.

The Manhattan District Attorney's (MDA) office in New York confirmed the news. Alvin L Bragg, Jr, Manhattan district attorney revealed that the artefacts were returned.&nbsp;

The Office issued a warrant for Kapoor's arrest in 2012. Kapoor along with seven co-defendants was charged in November 2019 by the Office for conspiring to sell stolen artefacts. The office submitted documents to India in July 2020 on behalf of Kapoor and other&nbsp;co-defendants who reside in India.&nbsp;

Kapoor and Sanjeev Asokan were found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for their involvement in selling the stolen Indian artefacts. In addition to being fined and given a 13-year prison sentence, Kapoor was also found guilty of receiving stolen items.&nbsp;

The DA's Office and HSI recovered over 2,500 goods trafficked by Kapoor and his network between 2011 and 2022.&nbsp;

Other defendants found guilty were Richard Salmon, Neil Perry, Selina Mohamed, Aaron Freedman and Sushma Sareen.&nbsp;

Two high school students in Iowa (US) killed their Spanish teacher in retaliation over a poor grade she gave one of the students in her class, prosecutors said in court documents on Tuesday. The duo is being tried as adults.

For the first time since Willard Miller and Jeremy Goodale were apprehended and accused of killing their 66-year-old teacher Nohema Graber in the little hamlet of Fairfield on November 2, 2021, the new information provided insight into a potential reason.

On Snapchat, Goodale reportedly boasted to a friend about the murder. A witness submitted images of a Snapchat discussion in which the adolescent specifically accused himself and Miller of being responsible for the murder of Graber.

However, according to Miller's attorney Christine Branstad, four search warrants were improperly obtained. She is requesting that the court invalidate all four of them and suppress evidence from Snapchat as well as from her client's home, statements he made to the police, and data gleaned from his phone.

On Wednesday, a judge will hear arguments to determine whether to suppress any of the evidence.

An 'angel of death' in Cordoba, Argentina, has been arrested in connection with the death of at least&nbsp;two newborns. According to a prosecutor, the nurse has been detained in relation to the deaths of otherwise healthy newborns that were delivered in a hospital.

The nurse Brenda Aguero, 27, was detained on Friday at the request of prosecutor Raul Garzon, who is looking into the deaths of five infants at the Neonatal Maternity Hospital in Cordoba, which is located at 700 kilometres (435.5 miles) northwest of Buenos Aires.

'Angel of death' is a term often used for nurses, and medical professionals charged and convicted for killing patients they were supposed to help.

As per AFP, talking to the media, Garzon disclosed that the nurse has been charged with the deaths of two babies, and may be charged with the murder of three other infants pending review of their medical records.&nbsp;

Their deaths are believed to have been caused by a dosage of a poisonous foreign substance.&nbsp;In addition to those that died, in eight other cases, newborns fell sick but escaped death.

"We were trying to overcome and mourn a natural death, and now we learn that they took our son from us -- that they killed him."

The infants died between March and June.&nbsp;However, the matter wasn't brought to light until a complaint was made by the grandmother of a baby who passed away on June 6.

Garzon also said that the deceased infants were born healthy, and their moms were in good health at the time of birth.

Aguero is one of nine persons who have been placed on administrative leave this month as part of an investigation to ascertain if the fatalities were the result of homicide, negligence, or malpractice.&nbsp;Charges of failing to perform official duties have been brought against three former hospital employees.

El&nbsp;Salvador&nbsp;has arrested some 50,000 suspected gang members since President Nayib Bukele launched a "war" in March on criminal groups terrorizing the country, the head of the country's police force announced Tuesday.

"We can inform the Salvadoran people that we have already reached 50,000 recorded detentions during the period of the emergency regime," said Mauricio Arriaza, director of the National Civil Police.

Arriaza, as well as Justice Minister Gustavo Villatoro and Defense Minister Rene Merino appeared Tuesday at parliament to request an extension of the emergency powers, which have done away with the need for arrest warrants.

The 84-seat unicameral assembly agreed Tuesday night to grant the government's newest request to maintain the decree, with 66 members voting in favor of an extension through mid-September.

The small Central American country has also increased sentences for gang membership five-fold, to up to 45 years.

To house part of the detainees, Bukele ordered the construction of a gigantic prison for 40,000 gang members in a rural area of the city of Tecoluca, in the center of the country, which should be ready before the end of the year.

"The results of the emergency regime have been overwhelming, we have had a strong impact on these terrorist structures," Villatoro said Tuesday in his report on the gang crackdowns.

Almost 69 percent of the detainees are accused of belonging to the notorious Mara Salvatrucha gang -- also known as MS-13 -- followed by the Surenos faction of the Barrio 18 gang (17.7 per cent) and the Revolucionarios faction of the same group (12.7 per cent).

Rights groups have denounced the arbitrary arrest of many people, including minors, with no gang links.

The wave of detentions is unprecedented in the country of 6.5 million people, who have suffered decades of violent crime driven by powerful gangs such as MS-13 and Barrio 18.

These gangs count some 70,000 members, most of them now behind bars, according to the authorities.

Local media reported that some prisoners were decapitated or dismembered during the&nbsp;fight.

"Relatives of the&nbsp;inmates&nbsp;waited anxiously outside the&nbsp;prison, as images of dismembered bodies reached their cell phones and they remained undaunted by the entry of ambulances," read a story in the national newspaper El Universo.

Carrillo said that the "primitive act of barbarism" indicated the "psychological profile" of the&nbsp;inmates&nbsp;who took part in the brawl.

A glass case was also smashed by the man using a sanitizer stand that contained a 2018 ceramic piece called&nbsp;Batah Kuhuh Alligator Gar Fish Effigy Bottle, reports Smithsonian Magazine.

The incident comes after a man&nbsp;smeared some cream cake over the framed Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum in Paris.&nbsp;

Tucked in a remote corner of&nbsp;South&nbsp;Africa, this frightened&nbsp;village&nbsp;of 3,000 people has suffered a murder almost every month, occurring with clockwork regularity for a year.

The brutal series of killings has earned Zingqolweni a chilling moniker: "The&nbsp;Village&nbsp;of&nbsp;Death."

All 11 victims have been elderly people, most of whom were women and most of whom lived alone.

They have been stabbed to&nbsp;death&nbsp;in their homes after nightfall, when pitch darkness falls over a&nbsp;village&nbsp;where the unpaved roads are unlit.

Nobongile Fihla, 50, spoke to AFP as she walked back from the cemetery.&nbsp;

Her mother was among the first victims, killed in May 2021.

"I found my mother there, next to the door, lying in a pool of blood. Her throat was slit," Fihla told AFP. &nbsp;

Her aunt was then found stabbed to&nbsp;death&nbsp;in the same thatched round hut where the two sisters lived.

No-one saw or heard anything.&nbsp;

The homes, known as rondavels, are far apart from each other in Zingqolweni, a Xhosa-speaking community lying three hours from the nearest large city of East London.

"They literally bleed to&nbsp;death," a senior police investigator told AFP.

"A series of murders of elderly people with a psychological motive. No, not seen before in&nbsp;South&nbsp;Africa," said the investigator, who asked not to be named.

Six men have been arrested over the killings, and their trial is set to begin in June.

Local police believe the murders are simply burglaries that have gone wrong.

But local official Gcinikaya Koki,&nbsp;64, is among those who doubt that thieves are to blame.&nbsp;

"After the killings, when people were searching the house they found the money in the house," he said, adding that other valuables were also untouched.

"Now, you then ask yourself, 'What is it that they want from this person that they killed?'"

The only clue ever found has been a piece of clothing.

Fears of a serial killer on the loose have swept the&nbsp;village. Some have fled and women have started sleeping together at night.

A special police unit that investigates serial crimes has visited the area several times.&nbsp;

The murders, the investigator told AFP, share hallmarks that fit the narrative of a lone killer.

In each killing, there is a single modus operandi; the murders occur regularly at the start of each month; and there is no evidence of a criminal motive.

The murderer must be young and strong enough to overpower his victims, according to this scenario.&nbsp;And given the remoteness of the&nbsp;village, he probably lives nearby, and possibly harbours a hatred of the elderly.

"The person must have known the people living there and who was living alone," the investigator said.

Husking maize on a stool in front of her home, 82-year-old Nontukunina Mbenyana says she is afraid but she will not leave.

"If they come for me, I am prepared," she said. "I will die in my own house."

Authorities had for months kept silent on the killings, so vigilantes stepped in.

Seven suspects, all men aged 21 to 27, were found dead. Some were burned alive, others hanged in the nearby forests.

Twelve men have been arrested, but then released for lack of evidence.

A novelist in US who wrote an essay&nbsp;titled "How To Murder Your Husband" has been found guilty of murdering her husband. She shot her husband twice through the chest. Nancy Crampton Brophy (71) was found guilty of murdering her husband Daniel Brophy. The jury in Portland, Oregon took eight hours to deliberate on Wednesday to reach their conclusion.&nbsp;

Prosecutors said the writer, whose "Wrong Never Felt So Right" series of novels include "The Wrong Husband" and "The Wrong Lover," had been struggling financially before she shot her husband twice through the heart in June 2018 at a culinary institute where he worked.

Crampton Brophy had denied the charge against her. She insisted that security camera footage that put her at the scene of the crime merely showed her scouting for writerly inspiration.

She says a missing gun (suspected by police to be the murder weapon) was purchased for research for a novel. She also claimed that she was not after hundreds of thousands of dollars in life assurance she would get after her husband's death.

As per the local media, Crampton Brophy's lawyer plans to appeal the conviction

Crampton Brophy had rejected claims of penury when she took to the stand last week, insisting her monetary woes had long been resolved.

"I do better with Dan alive financially than I do with Dan dead," she said.

Crampton Brophy faces life imprisonment.

Novelist writes 'How to murder your husband' and actually kills her spouse

In a bizarre incident, a home guard from Indian state Andhra Pradesh forcibly took away a vehicle from a family of six who was proceeding to Tirumala to visit the temple of Lord Venkateswara. The home guard took the vehicle saying that it was needed for the convoy of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who is&nbsp;supposed to travel to Prakasam District of the state on April 22.

The incident took place at Ongole in Andhra Pradesh. The home guard approached the family when it was having food at a hotel. The home guard said that the car (a Toyota Innova) along with its driver was needed as Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was due to visit the district.

Baffled by this development, the family tried to reason with the home guard but couldn't succeed. The family had to spend the night at Ongole bus stand.

The issue took political turn when former state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu criticised the current government

"Who gave the right to officials to cause such inconvenience and suffering to a family by obstructing their journey?'' asked Naidu&nbsp;

"Has the state economy slipped into such a pitiable state that it was not able to arrange a car outof its own resources for the CM's convoy? What sort of example the officials were sending to civil society by resorting to such a car snatching incident?" he said further.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed his displeasure at the incident. He has ordered strict action against the erring officials.&nbsp;

This kind of measure will not be tolerated especially when people are in trouble," said the CM in a statement.

Acting on CM's order, the Andhra Pradesh Transport Department has suspended P Rupal Reddy, the home guard and A Sandhya, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector, holding them responsible for this incident.

The body of Indian student who was killed in Toronto last week would arrive in the national capital Delhi on Saturday, news agency ANI reported.

On Wednesday, Toronto police nabbed Richard Jonathan Edwin (39)&nbsp;in connection with two homicide cases, including Kartik's case. The police said that both the cases were an act of random attacks and ruled out any hate crime.

“The two victims were not known to the accused or each other. Investigators are working to establish the motive behind the attacks, and a probe is underway.”

However, Karti's father refused to believe it to be a case of random attack and sought the central government's intervention in the matter.

Thursday’s sentence concludes a long saga, in which prosecutors say Buck used his influence and wealth to prey on vulnerable Black men for “party and play” encounters at his apartment in West Hollywood.

The Guardian reported that Buck would pay men for sex, fulfilling his 'fetish' of injecting them with methamphetamine and performing sexual acts on them.
