At a press conference on Friday, West Reading police chief Wayne Holben said the explosion at approximately 5 pm&nbsp;damaged one building and destroyed another at the R.M. Palmer Company chocolate plant.&nbsp;

West Reading is located about 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Officials said&nbsp;that the explosion rattled homes blocks away and sent a massive plume of smoke into the air.&nbsp;

Lead researcher Dr Siavash Soltanahmadi said: "With the understanding of the physical mechanisms that happen as people eat chocolate, we believe that a next generation of chocolate can be developed that offers the feel and sensation of high-fat chocolate yet is a healthier choice."

The researchers believe the physical techniques used in the study could be applied to the investigation of other foodstuffs that undergo a phase change, such as ice-cream, margarine or cheese.

Both lawsuits are based on a study carried out last month. Heavy metal content in popular chocolate bars was analysed in this study. California's Maximum Allowed Dose Level (MADL) was set as a benchmark for this study.

It was found that only five chocolate bars popular in the US had acceptable level of heavy metals. Two dozen others exceeded the permissible limits.

It was found that Trader Joe's dark chocolate with 72 per cent cocoa had high levels of lead. Another variant was found to contain high levels of lead and cadmium.

US: Trader Joe's sued for not disclosing heavy metals' presence in dark chocolates

In a recent lawsuit against Hershey Co, a consumer sued the company for selling dark chocolate containing dangerous levels of toxic metals like lead and cadmium.&nbsp;

On Wednesday, Christopher Lazazzaro filed a proposed class action in the federal court, Central Islip, New York, against the multinational company based in the US, Bussiness Today reported.

Lazazzaro, a Nassau County resident in New York, sued the chocolate manufacturer after consumer reports disclosed the scientific testing results of 28 dark chocolate bars for lead and cadmium.

High levels of metal content would turn off repeating customers as they are under a 'serious health risk.' As per Lazazzaro, consumers rely on Hershey for their truthfulness about product ingredients.&nbsp;

According to some studies, dark chocolate contains antioxidants and low sugar levels that help prevent cardiovascular diseases.

AFSCA, Belgium's food safety agency has been informed and a spokesman told AFP it had opened an investigation. An AFSCA spokesman said investigators would "gather all the information in order to trace the contamination". &nbsp;

Gazmer recalls that since the shot was taking too much time, Suniel Shetty took a jibe and said he would give cues to Irrfan. &nbsp;Urging the media to use its common sense, Gazmer said, " In fact, Suneil sir sarcastically asked if he can give the cue. What was actually a jibe in good spirit by Suneil sir is being used as if there was something wrong with our command. I ask all media how is it possible to shoot in a Bathrobe? Please media tell me how would you ask a girl to shoot without a bathrobe? Wouldn’t we ask her to remove it before the shot? How can Suneil Shetty or any other experienced actor in right senses ever offer to give dance cues of a heroine? Is it possible to say something like that unless it’s a sarcasm?"

Incidentally, Sushama Reddy too shared GAzmer's long post and said, "I know Satya Gazmer to be as scrupulous as they come...I just can't tolerate unnecessary slander, given I was part of the project...hence vouching for what he is saying..(sic)"

A study, published in the journal Food Research International, looked at the carbon footprint of chocolate and its other environmental impacts.

Researchers from the University of Manchester in the UK assessed the impact of ingredients, manufacturing processes, packaging and waste.

The study estimates that the UK chocolate industry produces about 2.1 million tonnes of greenhouse gases a year.

This is equivalent to the annual emissions of the whole population of a city as large as Belfast.

It also found that it takes around 1,000 litres of water to produce just one chocolate bar.

On average, each person individually consumes about eight kilograms of chocolate per year, researchers said.

They found the raw materials used to produce chocolate as well as the packaging are the major environmental hotspot.

The impact from the ingredients is mainly due to milk powder, cocoa derivatives, sugar and palm oil.

"Most of us love chocolate, but don't often think of what it takes to get from cocoa beans to the chocolate products we buy in the shop," said Adisa Azapagic, a professor at the University of Manchester.

"Cocoa is cultivated around the equator in humid climate conditions, mainly in West Africa and Central and South America so it has to travel some distance before it makes it into the chocolate products we produce and consume in the UK," said Azapagic.

According to the International Cocoa Organisation, the annual production of cocoa beans in 2016 was 4.25 million tonnes.

The worldwide sales of chocolate are estimated to be worth more than $101 billion.

Production of the milk powder used to make milk chocolates is very energy intensive. Dairy cows also produce significant greenhouse gas emissions per litre of milk produced. All of this adds to the environmental impact of chocolate.

"We hope this work will help the chocolate industry to target the environmental hotspots in the supply chains and make chocolate products as sustainable as possible," said Azapagic.
