<p>The Angus Reid Institute was founded in October 2014 by pollster and sociologist Dr Angus Reid and provides public opinion polling among other services. Some reports suggest that the non-profit is biased in its reporting.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the latest report on India-Canada, the institute suggested that only 33 per cent of Canadians have a favourable opinion of India while a majority of 54 per cent view it unfavourably.</p>

<p>In its 2019 review, the Committee noted that the "most significant perpetrators of foreign interference in Canada were the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Russian Federation" and that other states, "including India, Pakistan and Iran engaged in foreign interference activities."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, India has strongly refuted the claims terming them "baseless". Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had said, "We have seen media reports about the Canadian commission inquiring into. We strongly reject all such baseless allegations of Indian interference in Canadian elections."</p>

<p>Saini also called the image a “worrying escalation” which goes well beyond what universities are equipped to manage and said that they have contacted Canadian authorities over the social media post and “other recent activities as matters of national security”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Zeyad Abisaab, a student at Concordia University who volunteers at the McGill encampment said that the post is about the ongoing activities at the encampment including workshops and discussions.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The news agency said that the visits were to apprise Indian officials of the case relating to the killing of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nijjar was declared a terrorist by India. He was shot dead outside a gurdwara in British Columbia in Surrey on June 18 last year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He pointed to a similar float in Brampton a couple of years ago and recent provocations by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikhs for Justice, who had urged "Hindus to leave Canada."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Pannun is listed as a terrorist by the Indian government. Arya elaborated on the symbolism used by the extremists, noting, "the prominence of bindi on the forehead of Indira Gandhi is to make doubly sure the intended targets are Hindus in Canada."&nbsp;</p>

<p>He called upon Canadian law enforcement agencies to take "immediate action", highlighting that "with picture of guns readily being used to convey the message may lead to something real if this is left to continue unchallenged."</p>
