Mardaani 2: Ahead of film release, Rani Mukerji visits Mumbai’s police control room

Ashutosh Gowariker’s film ‘Panipat’, like most period drama films, has gotten itself mired into a controversy as some sections of the people feel that the storyline tarnishes their image. This time it's the people of Rajasthan who are protesting against the release of the film as it allegedly portrays king Surajmal in a bad light.

Fresh protests were notified of yesterday in Jaipur outside several theatres where people came with a mood for violence. On December 9, in some parts of Jaipur and adjacent cities, people locked doors and smashed windows of movie theatres showcasing ‘Panipat’.

Interestingly, the Rajasthan State Minister Vishwendra Singh, a descendant of late King Surajmal too has joined the protests and demanded a ban on the film ‘Panipat’. In an interaction with the media, he said, “The film projects that we demanded the Agra Fort (for helping the Marathas). That's not the reality. Maharaj Surajmal expanded his kingdom through his bravery. We can't term censor board wrong. This is the fault of producer and director. They never do in-depth research. The filmmakers should get in touch with the family of a person being depicted in a film, and do comprehensive research.” Rajasthan government, on the orders of chief minister Ashok Gehlot, has asked the said distributors to put the screening of the film on hold until the controversy is resolved. "We respect art and culture but no one's sentiments should be hurt. This is why we talked to film distributors and said a solution to this is to be found. It would be better if the film was screened after the people are convinced," Gehlot said. ‘Panipat’ is based on the third battle of Panipat fought between the Marathas and Afghan king Ahmad Shah Abdali. The film stars Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles.

We are not yet over his transformational skills, at least from whatever we have seen Ranveer Singh in Kabir Khan’s 83’ as Kapil Dev and he is back with yet another stunning character -- Jayeshbhai Jordaar.

Asha Parekh can easily be called one of the most successful actresses in Bollywood and now she is making buzz with her recently released memoir.

Akshay Kumar has ‘Good Newwz’ up his sleeve quite literally with the film ready to release on December 27 as the actor along with his co-stars is currently busy promoting it on various channels.

Directed by Raj Mehta and co-produced by Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar, ‘Good Newwz’ has been creating a buzz on the internet with its catchy songs and intriguing trailer.

At the trailer launch of the film, Akshay Kumar revealed the secret behind doing films with new directors as he said, "I work with new directors because big directors don't take me (in their films). That is the truth.” The question came up when Karan Johar highlighted that he is one of the few stars who had worked with many debutant directors.

Akshay further said, "When big people don't take you (in their films), you have to start your own journey. If you don't get a job in a big publication, you will go through a smaller one. From there you jump. You cannot just sit at home and wonder why people don't take me (in their films) despite me being so capable."

Did he mean they wanted to work with Khan only? Akshay said, "They (big directors) went to the people who deserved. You see, it's not that only the Khans were around. There were the Kapoors and the others. I presume I didn't deserve it, so I earned it my way."

He added, "I still don't have big directors (directing me). They are producing films with me, but they are not directing. Mr Karan Johar is there, you should ask him. You should ask Adi Chopra.”

Sharing his experience of working with newcomer directors, Akshay said, "Raj (Mehta, Good Newwz director) is my 21st new director. I also feel their greed to do good work is far more than many old directors. For them, it is a do or die situation, because (they think) if the film doesn't work, then they are finished."

We have all been excited for ‘Sooryavanshi’ ever since it was announced that Akshay Kumar will take over the cop’s role in Rohit Shetty’s film and that he will be returning on the screen with Katrina Kaif after several years.

We have all been excited for ‘Sooryavanshi’ ever since it was announced that Akshay Kumar will take over the cop’s role in Rohit Shetty’s film and that he will be returning on the screen with Katrina Kaif after several years. But there’s more. In an interview to a Mumbai-based magazine, Ajay Devgn who will also be a part of the film in the form of a cameo role recently said, “Expect what you saw in ‘Simmba’. We’ve known each other for a long time. We spent time remembering our old days when we’d keep pulling each other’s legs. We narrated those incidents to those around us on the set and laughed remembering them.” The film will see Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi, Ajay Devgn as Singham and Ranveer Singh as Simmba -- the coming together of all three cops from Rohit Shetty’s previous films. View this post on Instagram As Akshay Kumar gave his Last shot today for Our Cop Universe ‘Sooryavanshi’, It takes me back to 9 years ago in 2010 when Golmaal 3 became a massive hit. That day I had mentioned to Ajay Devgn that I was looking forward to making an action film on cops and eventually we made Singham. I never imagined that Singham’s journey would ultimately weave in such magnificent characters like the notorious Ranveer Singh as Simmba and now the Dynamic Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi, becoming the country’s First cinematic Cop Universe. And today 9 years later when I wrap my last shot with Akshay playing Sooryavanshi it magically coincides with the day we announce our next venture - Golmaal FIVE.
Hrithik Roshan on Monday put his heart out, quite literally, for all to see on social media. As he got emotional while penning down his take on love, he took a photo of his heart in front of his fans and followers and wrote, “How vulnerable we all are.”

He continued writing, "Wish we didn't need to spend more than half our lives unconsciously trying so hard to be loved by everyone all the time."

Vikramjeet Virk made his big Bollywood debut recently with Dharma Productions in Netflix’s ‘Drive’ as he played Bikki, a streetcar racer in the film. Starring alongside Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez in a film that was all about cars and politics, Vikramjeet played a crass character who loves everything around four-wheelers -- girls and illegal money while sporting tattoos, a straight-from-the-street hairstyle and more things that would easily stereotype him into being a gunda.

But cut to reality, and Vikramjeet is miles away from a glamorous lifestyle as he hates junk food, alcohol, smoking and everything that you would associate with a model-turned-actor’s lifestyle. He gets up early, focuses on health and wants the world to pay attention to their physical health by eating right and exercising on a daily basis.

Speaking to WION on his big-ticket Bollywood film with Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez, his journey of a model to an actor and future projects, Vikramjeet Virk spilt beans on living the life he always aspired for.

“I was working down south for a couple of years. I lived in Mumbai all this while but was waiting for the right thing to happen. I was offered a lot of small films but I wasn’t taking it. I wanted to do something that goes with my personality. I chose Drive for the way my director narrated it,” Vikramjeet Virk said about starring in ‘Drive’ that started streaming on Netflix, November 1 onwards instead of a theatrical release.

Vikramjeet worked with Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez and spoke highly of both the actors who are a couple of films older than him. “Working with Sushant, Jacky was fun. They know their job. I learnt a lot of things from them. Sushant I think believes in not wasting time. When he’s not acting on the set, he’s busy watching something. Jacky is very down to earth. She is a happy face around, has a positive vibe.”

While ‘Drive’ could be Vikramjeet’s first Bollywood film with a lead role, he has also been part of Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Khele Hum Jee Jaan Se’ and has kept himself busy with Telugu films. He explained, “It just happened. A friend of mine asked me to come for some work. He was going to Ashutosh’s office and I accompanied him. The team asked me what I do, I told them I am a model so they asked me to drop my details with them. I didn’t know anything about acting then. I tried my luck. They liked me and that's how I got the part. But after that, I got a South Indian film. Started shooting for that and subsequently started liking acting. I realised I was enjoying this more than modelling. It's been a good journey.”

Vikramjeet followed the usual progression path from being a model to an actor but he insists his journey was different. Vikramjeet said, “It was not the same for me. I belong to a very small village in Haryana. In my village, I didn’t even know what was modelling or acting. I just did my studies in Karnal, got introduced to modelling, liked it so I did it. I liked being a part of the fashion world. Then when I was enjoying this phase, I was introduced to acting and I happened to like that more.”

While he may be making a career in acting, he doesn’t admit to one being better than another. “I can’t say what is better. Both are different. When I was into modelling I was enjoying it. When I came into acting, I understood it was all about performance. In modelling, you just have to be good looking, fit and well-groomed. In acting, it’s more than that. Acting demands more hard work than modelling,” he said.

Vikramjeet has also been a part of TV shows and understands the difference in both the mediums -- films and TV. He said, “TV doesn’t have time. Everything is quick. You have to make 25 minutes footage in one day so you can’t experiment too much but in films, you can. In a film, you might shoot a minute’s footage in a day and sometimes not even that.”

The actor-model will next be seen in a Punjabi language film that is slated for a release in February 2020. He has also finished a Telugu film titled ‘22’ that will release in December. He is also working on a web series with Nikhil Advani titled ‘Mughals’. The series also has Ronit Roy, Dia Mirza who will be seen playing his wife. They have started shooting for the series. He also has another web series lined up that will be ready for the public by February.

There was also news of Vikramjeet being part of Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ before it got shelved indefinitely and Akshay Kumar starred in ‘Kesari’ that dealt with the same topic. Vikramjeet was “proud of being a part of that film and really wanted it to happen.” He added, “More so because the other film is not really up to the mark. They didn't tell us the proper story.”

Apart from acting, Vikramjeet is equally passionate about his health as he avoids fast food, alcohol, cigarettes and other things that harm the body. He also believes that people need to be made aware of the health issues in the world. “Eat right and work out, please take care of your health,'' said Vikramjeet as he signed off.

With only a week left for the release of Ashutosh Gowariker’s film ‘Panipat’, there seems to have erupted a controversy around the film.

The film is being called out by Peshwa Baji Rao’s descendant over a dialogue that we hear Kriti Sanon say in ‘Panipat’ trailer. He called it “highly objectionable” and has sent notices to the makers of the film. He has also said that if the makers don’t respond then he will approach the court.

In the film, Kriti Sanon can be seen playing Arjun Kapoor’s wife, Parvatibai. In the trailer, as Arjun Kapoor’s character starts to leave for the battle, she says, "Maine suna hai Peshwa jab akele muhim par jaate hain to ek Mastani ke saath laut te hain (I have heard when Peshwa leaves for a battle alone, he returns with a Mastani)."

This dialogue has irked the eighth-generation descendant of the Peshwa, Nawabzada Shadab Ali Bahadur who said in an interview, "The particular dialogue in the movie is in bad taste and highly objectionable. The way it has been used, presents a bad picture of not only Mastani Sahiba but also of the Peshwa to our audience and to young minds unaware of Maratha history. Mastani Bai was the bonafide wife of Peshwa Baji Rao and not just another woman."

"After seeing that portion in the trailer of the movie, I have sent notices to the producers and the director to remove that portion or make necessary changes. Panipat: Peshwa Bajirao's descendant sends notice to makers over Kriti Sanon's Mastani dialogue

Kangana Ranaut’s latest look from her upcoming film ‘Thalaivi’ has spiralled into a topic of online debate as people find themselves divided over her portrayal of Tamil Nadu's ex-Chief Minister late J Jayalalithaa in the first poster released.

It became a raging debate further after she gave an interview to a tabloid and revealed that she had to be on hormone pills to get the look for the character right as she had to gain weight. While some condemned Kangana Ranaut as she looked fake, some said she looked like Jayalalithaa’s caricature.

She had said, “That (weight gain) was needed so as to look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since I am tall and skinny, and my face is angular, not round, I had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different. Of course, I also started eating foods that promote weight gain.”

Recently it spiralled into some calling the actress mad and someone who has little sense of what to speak when parts of the interview started circulating on the social media. One person wrote, “Please just lock this madwoman in a room so she doesn't shoot off her mouth in the most atrocious manner.”

Her sister Rangoli Chandel came to Kangana Ranaut’s defence and wrote, A mild doze of estrogen regular daily pill that most woman take for contraception can increase chances of fat accumulation around belly, arms thighs and hip areas, even if Kangana is mad as all good actors are but why mad people must be locked ? We need to ask ourselves (sic).”

Kangana Ranaut will star as J Jayalalithaa who remained important to Tamil Nadu’s state politics and chief ministers for a long time. The film is titled ‘Thalaivi’ and is slated to release on June 26, 2020.

Kangana Ranaut’s latest look from her upcoming film ‘Thalaivi’ has spiralled into a topic of online debate as people find themselves divided over her portrayal of Tamil Nadu's ex-Chief Minister late J Jayalalithaa in the first poster released.

Of course, I also started eating foods that promote weight gain.” Recently it spiralled into some calling the actress mad and someone who has little sense of what to speak when parts of the interview started circulating on the social media. One person wrote, “Please just lock this madwoman in a room so she doesn't shoot off her mouth in the most atrocious manner.” Her sister Rangoli Chandel came to Kangana Ranaut’s defence and wrote, A mild doze of estrogen regular daily pill that most woman take for contraception can increase chances of fat accumulation around belly, arms thighs and hip areas, even if Kangana is mad as all good actors are but why mad people must be locked ? We need to ask ourselves (sic).” A mild doze of estrogen regular daily pill that most woman take for contraception can increase chances of fat accumulation aroud belly, arms thighs and hip areas, even if Kangana is mad as all good actors are but why mad people must be locked ? Thalaivi: Kangana Ranaut gets trolled for 'took hormone pills' comment, sister comes to defence

Taapsee Pannu ruffled some feathers with her recent interview to Neha Dhupia on her hit radio show called No Filter Neha when she opened up about her films, equation with Kangana Ranaut and sister Rangoli among other things. While we did tell you what she thought of the above two, we have more news on her stand on viewers’ treatment of films dominated by a female actor.

Speaking about her role in ‘Badla’, she said that even though she has more screentime in the film, it is still called an Amitabh Bachchan’s film. She said, "Even when I do films like Badla, I had more working days or scenes so to say than Mr Bachchan. He was the hero of the film, I was the antagonist. But the antagonist has more presence in the film than the protagonist. But eventually the film releases, they call it an Amitabh Bachchan film.”

Taapsee Pannu added, "Yes, when I raise my voice and say I've done almost equal if not more, that's when people recognised and started taking my name because it's such a male-dominated industry, they don't even realise that I might have done more work actually. It was called Sir's film, it won't be called a female film regardless of the fact that I have more scenes, it will be called an Amitabh Bachchan film and the credit will go there."

For those who are unaware, ‘Badla’ is a remake of Spanish film ‘Contratiempo’. It was bankrolled by Shah Rukh Khan’s home production banner Red Chillies Entertainment. The film not only earned praises from the critics but also stood tall at the box office as it made more than Rs 100 crores. The film also had Amrita Singh in a vital role.

Taapsee Pannu will next be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s ‘Thappad’. Kangana Ranaut gets trolled for Jayalalithaa look from 'Thalaivi', netizens say 'Kamal Haasan better choice'

You might have heard of Akshay Kumar’s professionalism and punctuality but he gave a live example to his director recently while shooting for upcoming film ‘Good Newwz’.

The actor who is currently undergoing physiotherapy sessions for his back injury filmed for a song even while he was in pain as it was pre-scheduled and Akshay Kumar didn’t want his director or the fellow cast to face inconvenience.

This happened a few weeks ago when Akshay Kumar was to shoot for a song for his film but he woke up with severe back pain owing a back injury that he suffered a couple of months back. It didn’t stop him though and he went on to the set.

Film director Raj Mehta cited in a published report said, "Akshay was also running a fever on the night before the shoot. We weren't expecting him to show up, but surprisingly, he did, and even managed to pull off the choreography set by Bosco [Martis]. It was a relief for him as getting the entire cast together for the song on other dates would have been very difficult considering the film has big names like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani.

You might have heard of Akshay Kumar’s professionalism and punctuality but he gave a live example to his director recently while shooting for upcoming film ‘Good Newwz’.

Good Newwz: Akshay Kumar shot for a high-octane party song with a back injury

Ever since the first look poster of Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Thalaivi’, a biopic on late actor-politician Jayalalithaa has been released, the audience has more so appeared divided on whether they like Ranaut’s transformation for the film. While some find it awe-inspiring, others have called it fake with the poster not looking anything like the actor nor the character she portrays. Watch teaser here.

Opening up on the transformation, Kangana Ranaut said, "[When aping a person for cinema], actors usually get the apparel and appearances on point, but not the physical transformation. Vijay wanted me to resemble her as closely as possible. She [Jayalalithaa] endured a drastic physical transformation in her life. Having grown up as a Bharatanatyam dancer, she had an hour-glass figure. Then, when she joined politics, she had an accident which demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids. While we could not depict all of that, we did take measures [to resemble her during these phases]."

Kangana has previously spoken about her struggle with gaining weight and as she had to play the role of Jayalalithaa, she had to look like a woman with a round face with a voluptuous body, unlike her tall and slender frame. The actress gained six kilos for the part and said, "That was needed so as to look voluptuous, especially around the belly and thighs. Since I am tall and skinny, and my face is angular, not round, I had to take mild doses of hormone pills to look different. Of course, I also started eating foods that promote weight gain."

There was more that went into getting the Jayalalithaa look right for the role, in addition to the pills. Kangana also revealed that the makers of the film sought aid from Jason Collins, who has worked on the prosthetics for big-ticket Hollywood action films like ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Captain Marvel’. She said, "His team made a structure that was suitable to make me look voluptuous. During the portions showcasing her as a young politician, we aimed to only make my face look fuller. As for the rest of the body, it took the team seven hours each day to acquire the look. The hands had to be re-done, and different kinds of pads were used for different parts of the body."
