On Tuesday, in a court plea, Indian rapper and music producer Yo Yo Honey Singh's wife—Shalini Talwar—has accused him of having regular casual sex with multiple women while he was travelling, and never disclosing to the public that he was married to her, to further his sexual intents and illicit relationships.

Talwar filed a case of domestic violence against the artist, whose real name is Hirdesh Singh, at the Tis Hazari court in New Delhi. She has also sought ₹10 crore in compensation.

The rapper-singer has now reacted to his wife’s allegations through a lengthy statement which he has posted on Twitter in the form of a picture. In it, Singh wrote, “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against we and my family by any companion/wife of 20 years, Mrs. Shalini Talwar. The allegations are severely odious. I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation on my health, & negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family — my old parents and younger sister — who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature.”

“I have been associated with the industry for over 15 years and worked with artists and musicians across the country. Everyone is aware of my relationship with my wife, who has been an integral part of my crew for more than a decade now and always accompanied me to my shoots, events, and meetings. I strongly refute all the allegations but will not comment any further because the matter is sub-judice before the Court of Law. I have full faith in the judicial system of this country, and I am confident that the truth will be out soon,” he added.

“The allegations are subject to be proven and the Hon'ble Court has provided me with an opportunity to reply to such allegations. In the meantime, I humbly request my fans and public at large to not draw any conclusion about me and my family until the Hon'ble Court pronounces a verdict after hearing both the sides. I am confident that justice will be served, and honesty will win. As always, I'm grateful for all the love and support of my fans and well-wishers, who inspire we to work hard and make good music. Thank you! Yo Yo Honey Singh,” concluded the rapper-singer.
The plea, filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, alleged that Singh had become “extremely arrogant, abusive, harsh and uncaring” to the woman following their marriage in 2011.

Shalini Talwar, in her complaint, also accused the Indian rapper of locking her up for over 18 hours without food and forced her to quit her job.

Indian rapper Honey Singh reacts to his wife’s ‘false, malicious’ allegations, says he’s pained

Bollywood director Omung Kumar, who has directed the Mary Kom biopic by the same name, has defended the casting of actress Priyanka Chopra in the titular role amid renewed criticism on her playing the role of the celebrated Manipuri athlete.

Amid the ongoing controversy pertaining to casting actors from Northeast India for roles from that part of the region—for the sake of authenticity—filmmaker Omung Kumar has now defended casting Priyanka for the job.

In doing so, Kumar reportedly cited examples of other actors taking on similar roles (that did not abide by the authenticity rules) and claimed that he has 'promoted Manipur the way no one else has'.

In ‘Mary Kom’, Priyanka Chopra played the Manipuri boxer, while the Haryana-born Darshan Kumaar played her husband, Onler.

“An actor can mould themselves into any character and that’s what Priyanka Chopra did beautifully. That’s why the film was so effective. I have promoted Manipur the way no one else has, and I am proud of it. I gave a lot of Manipuri actors inroads to Bollywood through the film. The film’s reach also has to be considered while casting. We did look at a lot of Northeastern actors for the parts played by Priyanka and Darshan Kumaar too but no one suited the role. People think Darshan, who hails from Haryana, was from Manipur (laughs). So, if they suit the part, an actor can play any role. Amitabh Bachchan played Anthony Gonsalves without being Christian. If there is a South Indian character in the film, there’s no hard and fast rule that states we have to cast a South Indian actor only in the role,” Kumar reportedly told an Indian daily.

This renewed controversy is based on the recent Olympics triumph of Mirabai Chanu, and comments made by actor Lin Laishram, who had co-starred in ‘Mary Kom’. Both Laishram and Chanu are from Manipur.

Speaking to Free Press Journal, Laishram had reportedly said, “I admire Priyanka for her hard work, she really put in a lot of hours in order to look like Mary Kom but I always felt that casting is an important step in film. I believe in authenticity and inclusivity, so a girl from Manipur or the North East could have been surely cast to represent us...When it comes to playing an achiever from the Northeast a non-North Eastern person is chosen as seen in Mary Kom. On the other hand, why not cast people from Northeast also as normal Indians in all walks of life which we are.”

The Madras High Court has lashed out at actor Dhanush for having sought Entry tax exemption on a Rolls Royce car that he had imported in 2015. The Court questioned the rationale behind super-rich actors importing ultra-luxury cars and seeking tax exemption, while the common man pays taxes on everything from fuel to soap, without seeking any exemption. This case bears resemblance to that of actor Joseph Vijay who had been called “anti-national’ by the Court for having sought tax exemption on his imported Rolls Royce. Like Vijay had done in his petition, Dhanush too hadn’t revealed his occupation before the Court.

It is understood that the Commercial taxes department had asked Dhanush to pay Entry tax amounting to Rs.60.66lakhs, against which the actor had approached the Court for an exemption in 2015. Back then, the Court had instructed the Regional Transport Office to permit registration of the vehicle, on receipt of 50% of the Entry tax. Later, following the actor’s submission that Rs.30.33lakhs had been paid, the Court permitted the registration of the vehicle as per rules and regulations. Since then, the writ petition has been pending.

When this case came up for hearing before Justice S.M. Subramaniam on Thursday, he said that actors are entitled to buy even helicopters, but they have to pay taxes. He also added that Actors maybe entitled to file cases against tax demand, but they must have paid taxes in full, immediately after the Supreme Court settled the issue a couple of years ago. He also urged actors to act as responsible citizens, rather than continuing to ply their cars on roads laid with public money(taxes), without themselves paying taxes in full.

When the Dhanush’s counsel informed that the actor was willing to pay the taxes in full and sought permission to withdraw the plea the judge refused, as the matter was pending since 2015. The Judge also made a mention of the Vexatious Litigations, where a case is filed without any serious purpose or meaning(to abuse the Judicial process). He said that cases of this kind prevented the Court from allotting time to genuine cases and issues.

In 2020, actor Rajinikanth (who is also Dhanush’s father-in-law) had approached the Madras High Court over a Property Tax demand by the Chennai Civic Body. The issue pertains to a Property tax demand of Rs.6.5 lakhs made by the Greater Chennai Corporation for the months April-September on the Raghavendra Marriage hall, which the actor owns.

His counsel had stated that once the pandemic broke out and lockdown restrictions were imposed by Central and State Government, Rajini’s marrige hall had remained vacant and was not rented out since March 24th.

It was mentioned that the actor had cancelled all bookings at the marriage hall after March 24th (Lockdown 1) and even refunded the advance money in line with government instructions. The actor stated that he was entitled to vacancy remission and that he had sent a notice in this regard to the Corporation on September 23rd and that there was no reply.

When the Court warned Rajini of imposing costs(fine), Rajini tweeted out that he could have avoided a mistake and reached out to the Chennai Corportation over a Property Tax dispute, rather than approaching the Madras High Court.

Recently, it was revealed that South Indian superstar Suriya-starrer ‘Soorarai Pottru’, which was directed by Sudha Kongara and based on the life story of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, will be remade in Hindi, and the team had confirmed the same on social media.

Now, as per a report by an entertainment website, the Madras High Court has directed a stay on the recently announced Hindi remake.

An injunction restraining Suriya’s 2D Entertainment from exploiting the Hindi rights of the film based on the book ‘Simply Fly — A Deccan Odyssey’ authored by Captain GR Gopinath has been issued, claims the report.

The Tamil film was made by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment and Suriya’s 2D Entertainment. Sikhya Entertainment had reportedly approached the Madras High Court against the Suriya’s company over the rights of the film, including the Hindi remake.

“Sikhya Entertainment and 2D Entertainment had made Soorarai Pottru together, and they were supposed to make the Hindi film together, too. However, apparently, 2D Entertainment selling the rights to Abundantia Entertainment without Sikhya’s consent and not fulfiling obligations under the original agreement between them led to Sikhya making the move,” Sikhya Entertainment reportedly told the portal.

Just a few days back, sharing the Hindi remake news on Twitter, Suriya had written, “Excited to announce our association with @Abundantia_Ent lead by @vikramix for #SooraraiPottru in Hindi, Directed by #SudhaKongara @CaptGopinath #Jyotika @rajsekarpandian @ShikhaaSharma03 @2D_ENTPVTLTD.”

Recently, Priyanka Chopra Jonas—who has been busy shooting for her upcoming show 'Citadel' in London—took some time out to enjoy some summer days in London.

After spending quality time and touring around the picturesque city with her friends and dogs, Chopra later dumped her pictures on her Instagram account.

Now the actress has posted yet another ravishing photo of herself on her social media account.

Dressed in a white plunging neckline-outfit, Priyanka can be seen sporting beach waves with nude, barely there make-up complementing her overall look. She captioned the picture as, “#selfiemode #citadel (sic).”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ latest post is so hot that even Nick Jonas is swooning!

Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu turns 34 today and while some may chose to throw big parties to ring in the new year of their lives, the ‘Haseen Dillruba’ star chose to head to the picturesque Nainital instead.

Staring into oblivion, Taapsee captioned her mountain-based birthday post as, “Last week has been tough, tricky, testing but with this sunrise and this new year I shall again gather the strength to look forward to what life has in store for me coz….. Utho to aise utho, fakr ho bulandi ko. Jhuko to aise jhuko, bandgi bhi naaz kare (sic).”

Jhuko to aise jhuko, bandgi bhi naaz kare (sic).” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Taapsee Pannu (@taapsee) × Taapsee pannu was last seen in Netflix release ‘Haseen Dillruba’ alongside Bollywood actors Vikrant Massey and Harshvardhan Rane.
The child actor, Jacob Smith, who got the Bollywood movie by fluke, was travelling the world and India happened to be one of the many stopovers when he had landed the gig two years back.

Netflix’s latest Bollywood hit film ‘Mimi’—starring Kriti Sanon, Pankaj Tripathi, Manoj Pahwa and Supriya Pathak—saw a white little boy, Jacob smith, playing the charming son to actress Kriti Sanon’s titular character, Raj.

While some of us cannot help going gaga over his cute antics in the forward-thinking movie, Jacob landed the role by sheer luck while they were realizing their ‘big crazy dream’ of seeing the world and had recently moved to Goa as part of that trip before going to Jordon and Albania. “We got talking to them and one thing led to another and that's how Jacob ended up in the movie… They had been looking all over India for six months, so we genuinely didn't think they would pick our wee Jacob. They chose him because the director was able to get him to perform on set, which is seriously impressive because he has the attention span of a gnat at times!” Jacob’s father, Kris, told a global news platform.

After he was finalized for the role, the Smith family moved to Mumbai where he was enrolled for acting classes. Eventually, they moved to Rajasthan with the crew, where ‘Mimi’ was shot. Jacob was three when the shooting began, he is now five.

"We felt a bit of trepidation whether to put our son into that spotlight. It concerned us to an extent, but once we started speaking to the production company, they managed to ease our concerns," Kris added.

"He learned the lines, but he's a Scottish boy and in the film he's an Indian boy brought up in Rajasthan, so they couldn't use his actual voice because he doesn't have the dialect. They dubbed over his voice in the end, but if you watch the film his lips work really well with the lines. Everyone in India would know that he was Scottish with his north-east Hindi twang!" Jacob’s mother Julie said.

‘Mimi’ was supposed to release on video-streaming service Netflix on July 30 but the film was released early allegedly owing to a leak. The makers, however, maintain that the move was to surprise the lead actress on her birthday (July 27).

Daniel Craig may have gone global with his stint as the British spy James Bond but there was a time when he had wanted to be a part of and even auditioned for an Indian iconic movie, ‘Rang de Basanti’ (RDB), claims director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in his autobiography ‘The Stranger in the Mirror’.

“I remember vividly that one of the people who auditioned for the part of James McKinley, the young jailor who walks Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev to be hanged, was none other than current James Bond, Daniel Craig… Daniel Craig was my first choice but he requested if we could allow some time as he was also being considered to be the next James Bond. The rest, as they say, is history,” Mehra wrote.

Back in the day, Mehra wanted to create world cinema and had managed to get executive producers David Reid and Adam Bowling on board. The duo has two cult classics—'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' (1998) and 'Snatch' (2000)—behind them.

The London-based executive producers loved the script of ‘RDB’ and put up their houses for rent while they moved to India to set up the film. “They were responsible for casting Alice Patten and Steven Mackintosh for the parts of Sue and James McKinley, respectively,” says Mehra.

Mehra went on to reveal that he had almost finalized Peter Gabriel—one of the founding members of the British band genesis—but something inside of him said that he should go with A.R. Rahman instead.

“The music of RDB was the soul of the film; the songs AR created became de facto national anthems,” said the ace director.

Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s directorial venture ‘Ghost Stories’ has landed in troubled waters after a complaint against the four-piece anthology—which released last year on video-streaming giant Netflix—was filed.

According to reports, this complaint happens to be the first to come under the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021 that was framed in February this year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

As per the new rules, streaming platforms are mandated to have a redressal mechanism to address viewers’ grievances and based on that, a complaint has been filed and received by Netflix India against an allegedly objectionable scene in Anurag Kashyap’s short film, ‘Story 2’, reports claim.

The complaint states that in the scene where actor Sobhita Dhulipala can be seen devouring the fetus from her miscarriage is not required for the narrative and if the makers wish to retain it, then there should be a trigger warning for women who have gone through the trauma of miscarriage.

This untitled project is based on a series of true events and will witness Aditya Roy Kapur taking on a dual role for the very first time where he will be essaying two distinct personas on screen. Directed by debutant director Vardhan Ketkar, the Hindi remake is set to go on floors in September this year. Aditya Roy Kapur said in a statement, “I am inspired and excited to be part of telling such an interesting story. The original film was incredibly riveting and entertaining, and it left a lasting impression on me. As an actor, getting a chance to do a double role is double the preparation and double the challenge, and I’m certainly up for it! I look forward to collaborating with Bhushanji, Murad Bhai, and Vardhan to bring this exciting thriller to the screen soon.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by @adityaroykapur × The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios.

Aditya Roy Kapur to star in the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Thadam’, to take on a double role

“To be a mother is the greatest gift of life,” is cunning yet mean-no-harm driver Bhanu’s (Pankaj Tripathi) cue line for luring small-town Bollywood aspirant Mimi into the unknown world of surrogacy. She is tall, a gracious dancer, and a self-proclaimed ‘threat’ to all the Bollywood actresses she daydreams of dethroning as and when her lady luck shines. But, her Mumbai contact leaves no stone unturned to let the feisty belle know filmy dreams don’t come cheap: five lakh rupees for a photoshoot with Dabbo Ratnani and eight to ten lakh rupees for making her ‘viral dance video’ with T-Series.

At 25, Mimi is restless for her big break and hard-pressed for money to realise it. “Beej unka, khet tumhara (their seed, your field),” Bhanu assures Mimi and thus begins her journey of surrogacy with an American couple. A few naive choices, a ghastly revelation and some hilarious satirical settings later, the titular character ends up with a protruding belly and some broken ties, and dreams.

‘Mimi’—from outward observations—is an ode to all those faceless mothers who are often abandoned by their firaang bailouts in heartland India.

Director Laxman Utekar’s take on surrogacy is poignancy personified, laced with humour and socially relevant issues serving as undercurrents. What sticks out in this Hindi adaptation of the Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhhaychy!’ is that Utekar’s Mimi—despite a conventional setting with Rajasthan as its backdrop—never reaches out for a saviour to rescue nor is she portrayed as a damsel-in-distress even in the film’s darkest sequences. The character is chalked out as a fearless, headstrong feminist: a trope that the Indian audience needs to some getting used to, but is a welcome change nonetheless.

‘Mimi’ dabbles between surrogacy and its repercussions, and the taboo around single motherhood in the country. It, also, briefly touches upon adoption and fair-skin obsession that is rampant in India even to this day. The hindrance lies not in the fact that Utekar has brought to light these glaring issues on a global platform like Netflix—frankly, it’s the need of the hour!—but the hindrance lies in the fact that he has crammed in too many subtexts all at once. The intent is noble, but the route taken to reach that road is bumpy and superficial.

Over the years, Kriti Sanon has exhibited drastic changes—all positive—in her on-screen image and has swapped naachna-gaana parts for rounded, meaningful roles like ‘Luka Chuppi’, for instance. ‘Mimi’, quite understandably, is her attempt to establish herself as a standalone actor, not just a pretty heroine. The formula works for Sanon, mostly. In summarising her depiction of the varied shades of her Mimi, two scenes come to mind. The first one is right after the birth of her baby, when she says nothing at all and emotes through twitching her eye brows and a blank expression that gives away her internal monologue—there wasn’t one, by the way. The second one is when a dramatic background score deafens the viewers while a dejected Sanon dabs unflattering amount of talcum powder—again, a subtle small-town reference—on her face and screams out in pain: for having lost a shot at life, for what could have been. In that regard, Kriti Sanon has arrived.

Manoj Pahwa, Supriya Pathak and Pankaj Tripathi have their moments of glory in patches like any good actor would in a character-actor part. But, were these actors given the kind of parallel roles they deserved to elevate the script? No. Is that a pity? Well, yes.

It would be criminal to discredit Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar’s sincere rendition of the docile and demure Shama. If anything, Sai adds optimal amount of gravitas to the otherwise—occasionally—haphazard narrative.

‘Mimi’ chooses humour and irony to tackle the grave issue of would-be surrogate parents chickening out on simple, unsuspecting Indian girls from deep pockets of the nation. The tone of this dramedy makes one wonder: If an outrageously good-looking and fiercely independent girl can fall prey to the trappings of ‘a rented womb’, what chances do all those other real, not-so-fortunate Mimis have in this brutal world?

‘Mimi’ review: Kriti Sanon internalises her character’s plight with grit and grace

Bolywood actor Naseeruddin Shah, who has courted controversy after writing an op-ed on legendary actor Dilip Kumar after his demise, has now rendered a justification to an entertainment website.

He was quoted as saying, “Those who decided to take offence at what I said about Dilip Saab should have read the entire article and they would have realised that my praise, though conditional, for his acting chops was nothing less than glowing. I practically ran out of superlatives when describing his acting abilities. My 'complaint' had nothing to do with that at all. However, the reaction of people who choose to see meanings where there are none doesn't bother me... I said what I had to say, and if I hadn't meant it I wouldn't have said it.”

He also said that there has never been any feud between him and Dilip Saab (as he was fondly called) and that it was all media’s doing. "The supposed problems we had during the making of a film which I'd rather forget was all the invention of the media and some vested interests who made our working together sound like some sort of acting duel that was to take place, when considering the nature of our respective roles. I actually didn't stand a chance. All this fanned the non-existent flames when the fact was we hardly even met including in the scenes we had together. I don’t consider acting to be a contest or a game of one-upmanship and I was far from happy with all the talk of Dilip Kumar versus me. I have never denied that it was my childhood dream to act with and not opposite him,” said Shah.
For the uninitiated, Dilip Kumar died in the early hours of July 7 after a prolonged illness at a private hospital in Mumbai.

In the aforementioned op-ed, Shah had said, “Some of those works doubtless will survive the test of time but, given the position he was in, it is more than evident he didn’t do enough apart from acting and being involved in social causes close to his heart. He produced only one film, didn’t direct any (officially at least), never passed on the benefit of his experience, didn’t bother to groom anyone, and apart from his pre-1970s performances, left behind no significant lessons for future actors; even his autobiography is but a rehash of old interviews.”

“…It’s baffling why a man as conscious of his place in history as he was should be reluctant to record his interaction with some of the admittedly great filmmakers of his time or say anything really informative about the nature of his work and technique. I wish, at some point, he had at least been forthright about the travails involved in retaining legions of devoted fans,” he had added.

He produced only one film, didn’t direct any (officially at least), never passed on the benefit of his experience, didn’t bother to groom anyone, and apart from his pre-1970s performances, left behind no significant lessons for future actors; even his autobiography is but a rehash of old interviews.” “…It’s baffling why a man as conscious of his place in history as he was should be reluctant to record his interaction with some of the admittedly great filmmakers of his time or say anything really informative about the nature of his work and technique. I wish, at some point, he had at least been forthright about the travails involved in retaining legions of devoted fans,” he had added.

The Bollywood remake of Hollywood film ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, titled ‘Dil Bechara’, will go down in history as one of the most remarkable films of all time for reasons more than one.

First, the film was reportedly streamed over three million times on the first day of its release on the OTT platform Disney + Hotstar. And, secondly, it was the last film that deceased actor Sushant Singh Rajput had acted in before his death On June 14 last year.

Now, in an anniversary interview with an entertainment website, Sanjana Sanghi, his co-star from the film, spoke about having the film being an ode to the late actor.

“It was all supposed to be different, right? Like, all of it! But once everything just changed the way it did... there was no looking back. The day the film released, it created records with millions of people watching the movie on the first day. That’s an unreal number. With the kind of love and respect the film got, how can I have any regrets? It was quite an ode. Sushant and I were excited about the project through its making. We would discuss which colleges we would be visiting to promote the film. We even thought of the songs from the film that we planned to croon during the promotions and wondered whether we would be able to revisit the theatre in Jamshedpur where we shot the film.”

The actress also spoke about her first meeting with Rajput and their dreams pertaining to ‘Dil Bechara’.

“We met for the first time at Mukesh (Chhabra, director) sir’s office, where we did our reading. Within five minutes of the meeting, we realised that we both are nerds, are obsessed with everything academic and lived for the love of food! The other common point of interest was Delhi. While I hailed from Delhi, he had studied there. The performances you see in the film are all because of teamwork as it’s a completely performance-oriented movie. It didn’t boast of any fancy song sequences or stunts, but relied on human emotions and relationships. The one thing Sushant taught me was to save my energy. He made me realise how important it was to conserve energy by not putting in all of it when not required, for instance, the wide-angle shots. He used to call it ‘rationing’ of the energy,” Sanghi was quoted as saying.

‘The Fault In Our Stars’ was an adaptation of author John Green’s best-selling book by the same name. The movie featured Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort in lead roles and released worldwide on July 4, 2014.
When Arbaaz reads out an especially rude comment to Salman—which read as him being ‘well settled’ after taking the money of his fans and demanded for a refund—the actor was quick to reply, “I didn’t steal any money, I must have stolen hearts.”

Commenting on his acting skills, another user had commented ‘'dikhawe wali acting’ (showboating), Salman said, “Okay, then you do it too. Even to show off, you need a big heart and courage (sic).” He then went on to add that no matter how good of an actor you are, one cannot conceal their true persona forever.

The ‘Radhe’ actor also revealed during the chat that he doesn’t read comments or check likes on his social media posts once he is done publishing them.

Salman Khan also said that trolls may think that they could get away with anything, but the cybercrime unit (under Cyber Laws of India) can track down even anonymous abusers and bring them to justice.

He also talked about how a celebrity’s ‘No comment’ comment is blown out of proportion by the media. “People make so much ado of that ‘no comment’ and say that he does not want to speak even though others are willing to talk about it,” he was seen as saying.

Mumbai Police registered a case of extortion and defamation against the 30-year-old complainant and a Thane-based politician a day after a rape case was filed against Bhushan Kumar, the managing director of Indian music company T-Series.

The case was registered on the complaint of Krishan Kumar, the co-owner of T-Series.

On Thursday, DN Nagar Police Station (Mumbai) had registered a rape case against Bhushan Kumar when a 30-year-old woman accused him of raping her repeatedly on the pretext of giving her a job in his company.

The police identified the politician named in Krishan Kumar’s complaint as Mallikarjun Pujari, who allegedly approached Bhushan Kumar in June when he allegedly demanded money. He then threatened Kumar that if the money was not paid, the woman (complainant) would file a case of sexual harassment against him.

T-Series submitted a complaint against the said politician at Amboli Police Station on July 1.

T-Series released a statement on Saturday, saying, “Around same time, Krishan Kumar of T-Series then spoke to Pujari who asked Krishan Kumar to meet him in The Regenza by Tunga hotel at 1 pm on July 5. When Krishan Kumar met him in the hotel, Pujari told him that a woman will file police case against Bhushan Kumar and showed some WhatsApp messages, which were neither from the number of Bhushan Kumar nor from any other member of the T-Series team, and demanded a huge sum of money.”

“As they refused to give them the money, Pujari then colluded with the woman and lodged a case of rape against Bhushan Kumar,” Krishan Kumar reportedly to the police.

On Friday, the Amboli Police registered a case under Sections 386 (extortion), 500 (defamation), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 506(2) of the IPC. The complainant has also submitted audio recordings to police investigating the case in which Pujari could be heard demanding money from them.

However, no arrests have been made so far and the police will verify all the claims made by the complainant, reports claim.

The investigators reportedly said that they will be summoning Pujari and the woman soon to record their statements.

Bhushan Kumar case: Mumbai Police files extortion, defamation case against a politician, complainant

South Indian actress Priyamani has come out in full support of her Bollywood counterpart, Kareena kapoor Khan, and has reportedly defended the actress for her alleged fee-hike demand.

It so happened that when a multilingual, big-budget adaptation of Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ was announced in 2019, it was reported that Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan was approached for the role of Sita. Later, rumours of Kareena asking for a whopping 12 crore to play the mythological character.

Now, in an interview with an entertainment website, Priyamani said that Kareena must have asked for that kind of money because ‘she deserves it. “Regarding the pay parity I would definitely say that if a woman is asking for what she deserves I think it is because she deserves it. That is her market thing and she deserves it what she is asking for. So I don’t think you should question that… About the pay parity, I don’t think there is anything wrong… What I’m saying is if a female especially is asking for how much ever amount she is asking for, I think she very well deserves it. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong. These ladies have reached a point where they can say what they want to… You can’t make a comment on that person just because you think that it’s wrong that doesn’t mean that the person doesn’t deserve it (sic),” the actress was quoted as saying.

Earlier, the write of this mythological drama, K V Vijayendra Prasad, had clarified that Kareena has not been finalized for the role yet. Interestingly, some reports of Deepika Padukone also being considered for the role started doing the rounds. There’s no confirmation or denial on that as well.

For this untitled project, South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu will take on the role of Lord Rama while Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan is most likely to play the mythologival anti-hero Ravana, reports claim.

This multi-starrer, big-budget film will be produced by Madhu, Allu Arvind and Namit Malhotra and will be shot in 3D.

Apart from Hindi, the movie will also be released in Tamil and Telugu languages.

Bollywood actor and theatre personality Rajit Kapoor revealed in a recent interview that Surekha Sikri, who died on Friday morning following a cardiac arrest, was upset for not getting great parts.

“Unfortunately, not many people knew what a firehouse she was, that her theatre colleagues knew. I also know that good looks came in the way so often with her. She was never given a great part since she wasn’t beautiful in the conventional sense and that used to upset her a lot in the middle. But soon she stopped caring about it. A performer like her needs to be given a salute,” Kapoor was quoted as saying.

She had been unwell for several months, and had suffered a brain stroke in 2020. It was also reported at the time that she was also going through a tough time financially, which she later denied.

“I think she was one of the most fantastic actors we have had in the country and I feel bad since I don’t think she ever really got her due as a performer. She only came into the limelight pretty late with Balika Vadhu and became a household name. But she could do any role and the smallest part given to her would shine since she was a performer. From the small role in Saradari Begum to playing my nani (grandmother) in Mammo, I just saw the ease and effortlessness with which she performed and still made it starry,” said Kapoor about her playing his grandmother in ‘Mammo’ (1994).

Surekha Sikri was a film, television and theatre personality who made her debut in 1978, with the film 'Kissa Kursi Ka'. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress thrice for her roles in Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Badhaai Ho (2018).
