As of Monday, Republicans hold 212 House seats, while Democrats hold 203. The Republicans are currently ahead in seven of the 10 races. The party only needs to secure three to claim its victory, Fox News reported.

The president made his current remarks after his first meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping since assuming office, while attending the G20 summit in in Bali, Indonesia.&nbsp;

During a press conference, a reporter asked the president whether Americans should anticipate Congress with regard to abortion rights. Biden said, "I don't think they can expect much of anything other than we're going to maintain our positions." He added, "I'm not going to get into more questions. I shouldn't even answer your question."

US President Joe Biden on Saturday (November 12) held talks with Southeast Asian leaders during Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Cambodia. Biden hailed the new US-ASEAN pact as a critical which will help tackling "the biggest issue of our time."

This was Biden's first visit to Southeast Asia as a president. The US president said that the region was at the heart of his administration's Indo-Pacific strategy and Washington was committing resources, not just rhetoric, under a new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

"Together we will tackle the biggest issues of our time, from climate, to health security, to defend against the significant threat to the rule-based order," he said, opening a meeting in Cambodia with leaders of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

"We will build an Indo Pacific that's free and open, stable and prosperous, and resilient and secure," he added.

ASEAN is engaging a host of leaders, including Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol.

Biden's presence comes as the United States seeks to reassert itself after a period of regional uncertainty about its commitment under US predecessor Donald Trump, and concerted efforts by rival China to boost its influence and fill the void.

US&nbsp; President Joe Biden warned that democracy is under assault by election deniers and threatened by some candidates contesting for the midterm elections who he said would refuse to accept the results of November 8.&nbsp;

Biden began his speech on Wednesday by addressing the recent attack on US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul Pelosi and said “Thankfully, by the grace of God, all survived,”.

Biden noted that the assailant was looking for the Speaker, Paul Pelosi and was asking ‘Where’s Nancy?’”. He added, “those were the same words used by the mob who stormed the Capitol on January 6”.&nbsp;

In the almost 20-minute speech, Biden also spoke about the importance of the upcoming election, as well as some of the issues surrounding “political violence and voter intimidation over the past two years.”

He added, “We don’t settle our differences in America with a riot, a mob or a bullet or a hammer. We settle them peacefully at the ballot box.”&nbsp;

“There is a lot at stake in these midterm elections from our economy, the safety of our streets, personal freedoms, future of healthcare, to our personal freedoms, the future of healthcare, social security, medicare, it’s all important…but there is something else at stake. Democracy itself”.&nbsp;

He then went on to hold former US president Donald Trump responsible for spreading the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen as well as inspiring the election deniers and candidates who “won’t commit to accepting the results of the elections they’re in."

This includes candidates running for every level of office in America including, governor, Congress, attorney general, secretary of state and so on, said Biden.&nbsp; 
 
“American democracy is under attack because the defeated former president of the United States refused to accept the results of the 2020 election…to accept the will of the people…the fact that he lost. He’s abused his power and put loyalty to himself before loyalty to the Constitution,” said Biden.&nbsp;

The US president also urged people to recognise what’s at stake, calling this a moment of “national and generational importance,” and ended his speech saying that “the fate of the nation” lies with the people.&nbsp;
