Germany has "responded yesterday to the four requests for legal assistance from the prosecution office of Russia in connection to the murder attempt on Alexei Navalny in Russia," country's justice ministry said.

Police investigators of Germany had questioned Navalny, during which he had "provided extensive answers to questions sent through by the Russian prosecutor", said a spokesman for the German justice ministry.

In the most recent explanation, Navalny's Anti-Corruption Fund said on Twitter: "Today, police came to Lyubov Sobol's apartment at 7 am."

Sobol, a lawyer by training, has announced plans to run for parliament next year.

The 33-year-old's phone was switched off and both Navalny's spokeswoman Kira Yarmyash and the head of Navalny's fund, Ivan Zhdanov, said they did not know where she was.&nbsp;

Sobol's husband and daughter have been allowed to leave the flat.

Western governments say Navalny was poisoned with Novichok, a Soviet-designed nerve agent in a stunning case that has further dented Moscow's relations with leading European countries and sparked mutual sanctions.

Sobol went to the Moscow apartment where the man Navalny had spoken to is believed to live on Monday evening. She was detained and spent more than six hours at a police station.

Furthermore, writing on Twitter on Friday, Navalny linked the police raid to Sobol's attempt to speak to the FSB agent he identified as Konstantin Kudryavtsev.

A second dose of poison was allegedly given to Navalny before he was flown to Berlin for further treatment, western intelligence sources told the British newspaper on Saturday.

Sources told The Times that the suspected state security agents tried to finish off the lawyer - leader of the Russian opposition Progress Party - before he could get to safety.

These findings come at a time when another report by the Sunday Times of London has claimed that attempts were made to poison the Russian opposition leader again.&nbsp;

It said when Navalny was undergoing treatment for poisoning in the Russian city Omsk, Kremlin agents tried to poison him.&nbsp;

"This was with a view to him being dead by the time he arrived in Berlin," a source was quoted as saying.&nbsp;

Reported by news agency AFP, 27 ministers who met for talks in Luxembourg had reached political agreements to begin work on the sanctions, as per the guidelines set out by France and Germany last week.

Even though Russia has staunchly denied its role, and the usage of any poisonous substance, tests undertook by Germany revealed that a poisoning substance was actually used on the critic.

The specific type of Novichok found in the&nbsp;Navalny&nbsp;samples was however not itself one of those placed on the banned list last year, the OPCW added.

They came as&nbsp;Navalny&nbsp;said in an interview that he hoped to return to Russia within months, while showing his trembling hands as evidence of the nerve damage he suffered.
