If rumours and reports are anything to go by, the budding actor is slated to play the lead role in filmmaker Sriram Raghavan's upcoming movie <em>Ekkis</em>, which is a biopic chronicling the life of 1971 war hero Arun Khetarpal. The production, helmed by Dinesh Vijan, will also reportedly feature veteran actor Dharmendra in a pivotal role.</p>

<p>According to a report by Pinkvilla, Agastya is scheduled to commence shooting for <em>Ekkis</em>&nbsp;in January 2024. Sources close to the development revealed that Agastya's extensive preparation for the role involves&nbsp;acting workshops with Sriram Raghavan and specialised coaches to master body language and embody the persona of Khetarpal.</p>

<p>"2023 was an eventful year for Agastya Nanda as not just did he make his acting debut with The Archies, but also signed on for a Sriram Raghavan film. Agastya has attended several acting workshops with the Sriram and specially trained acting coaches to polish his body language and step into the shoes of India’s most celebrated war hero, Arun Khetarpal," the source told Pinkvilla.</p>

<p>"December and the first half of January will be spent by Agastya reading the script and also doing some workshops to rehearse for the schedule ahead. Sriram wanted a young actor to play the part of Arun Khetarpal and feels that Agastya fits the role like a hand in a glove. After months of prep, Sriram and Agastya are now all set to commence the journey of bringing the heroic tale to the big screen," the source added.</p>

To be directed by one of the most prolific makers and be backed by one of the biggest OTT giants, Netflix, it does seem like a perfect launch pad for these young actors. The fact that The Archies is an Indian adaptation of the iconic Archie comic series just seems like a cherry on top. But can Akhtar be making a simple teeny bopper without an underlying message on the flawed society? Not quite. Does she succeed in delivering the message? Well, in parts.<br />

We have all read <em>The Archies</em> comics at some point in our life, haven't we? If not read the comic book, we are surely familiar with Archie, Veronica and Betty. Akhtar along with co-writers Reema Kagti and &nbsp;Ayesha Devitre Dhillon sets the story in the 1960s and brings the American town Riverdale to India and makes it a fictitious town in the hills of north India where mostly anglo-Indians live. Archie (Agastya Nanda), Veronica (Suhana Khan), Betty (Khushi Kapoor) and the gang are 17-year-old school goers who are living a rather cocooned life. Archie wants to study music in London and become the next Cliff Richards- he even has a band <em>The Archies</em> that croons at almost all events in the town. Archie also is a confused lad, in love with two girls, the super rich, suave Veronica and her bestie and Archie's neighbour, simpleton Betty. While the young boy pines for both the girls, Archies' best friend Jughead (Mihir Ahuja) thinks it's a bad idea.&nbsp;<br />

Amid love and career choices, Archie and his gang are suddenly made aware of the fact that their cute little Riverdale is going to get transformed all thanks to Mr Lodge, Veronica's dad who is planning to make a massive hotel at the heart of the town where at present Green park is situated. The park holds a lot of sentimental value for the people of the town and so the news is met with resistance from the young adults. But can Archie and the gang save their beloved Green Park? And who does Archie finally choose between Veronica and Betty forms the rest of the story.&nbsp;<br />

Akhtar narrates the story of <em>The Archies</em> through music. The film has 16 songs and a lot of the characters' internal conflicts are narrated through songs. For that matter, some of the most important moments of the film are all narrated through some soulful and foot-tapping music. Musicals like these- which form an important part of the narrative- are common in Hollywood. In India, the genre has not been explored to its full potential. There have been a few films in recent years but none have been able to connect with the audience. The Archies, in that sense, take a big risk. Not only does it fall into the bracket of a musical, but it also has a lot of English songs- all based on the retro 1960s beats. Many in India would not be able to connect. Having said that, The Archies has a splendid soundtrack. Composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ankur Tiwari, The Islanders, and Aditi Saigal (DOT) deliver some soulful ballads and foot-tapping numbers. The songs are also well-choreographed by Ganesh Hegde. The song Va Va Voom particularly makes you want to break into a jig.&nbsp;</p>

Yes and no. There has been a lot of curiosity around the newcomers in&nbsp;the film. The pressure is especially higher on Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, Sridevi's daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda owing to their lineage. Among these three, its Suhana Khan who shines the brightest as self-assured and rich Veronica. Khan has a lot of screen presence and exudes confidence in every frame making her debut performance look quite effortless. Agastya Nanda shines in moments but seems uncomfortable in certain scenes- as in being very aware of the responsibility of leading the show. Khushi Kapoor is perhaps the weakest among the trio. She looks splendid in every frame but her performance lacks the spark that the original Betty Cooper has in the comics. Betty was vivacious and kind which Kapoor's character is unable to portray.&nbsp;<br />

The other four young actors, on the other hand, shine in their respective roles. Perhaps the lack of a pressure of lineage does the trick for these stars. Khushi looked stunning in a golden shimmery gown which was previously worn by her mother some years back.&nbsp;<br />

<em>The Archies</em> premiere took place at Mumbai NMACC in Mumbai and Khushi Kapoor turned up wearing the gown that was worn by Sridevi to the 2013 IIFA red carpet.<br />

<p>Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda is all set to share the&nbsp;screen with legendary actor Dharmendra.&nbsp;The veteran&nbsp;actor&nbsp;has turned 87 today, and on this special occasion, filmmaker Sriram Raghvan has announced his new project with the legendary actor. The fourthcoming film will be the war drama titled 'Ikkis.'<br />

The film is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously and lived an exemplary life. More information about the film has been kept under wraps. The film will go on floors next year.<br />

<p>Set pictures from Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming ‘live action musical adaptation’ of Archie comics have come out and it looks quite promising as paparazzi spotted Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan and Agastya Nanda hanging out together. The newbies looked different in their costumes and attire.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The three&nbsp;are expected to make their acting debuts with the project.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Suhana is Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Khushi is Sridevi’s daughter and Agastya Nanda is Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter.&nbsp;</p>

Having been signed on by Zoya Akhtar to play the male lead in her indigenous adaptation of the Archie comics universe opposite Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan’s daughter Shweta and industrialist Nikhil Nanda, is being fully tutored into the art of facing the camera.</p>

<p>Luckily Agastya is a fast learner.</p>

<p>Says a &nbsp;source close to the &nbsp;Bachchan family, &nbsp;“Neither of Agastya‘s parents are&nbsp;actors. So he is leaning on his grandparents and his Maamu(Uncle) Abhishek Bachchan for guidance. &nbsp;Agastya has always been a big fan of his grandfather and of the Archie comics. So he has the advantage of being a part of the cinematic universe that he will soon occupy officially, even before facing the camera.”</p>

<p>One hears Agastya is already getting several offers from the biggest banners. But he wants to wait until Zoya’s film crystalizes before thinking of another project.</p>

<p>Zoya Akhtar's Archies adaptation is not the only film designed to carry forward Bollywood's distinguished dynastic tradition. From what one hears Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s second-born Ibrahim(eldest born Sara is already an actor) is all set for his screen debut which is likely to happen in 2022(pandemic permitting).</p>

<p>Apparently, Saif wants Ibrahim to continue with his studies. But Ibrahim is keen to get into his parents’ and sisters’ profession. This is why we now see the otherwise-shy Ibrahim at so many film parties and why he is suddenly so active on social media. One hears of Karan Johar being especially keen to launch Ibrahim’s career. But father Saif would rather have his son find his own way into the movies.</p>

<p>In an interview with me some time ago, Saif had spoken about Ibrahim, “Yes, he seems prepared. &nbsp;But I think he should wait a little longer. He’s looking good. And he’s a very gentle soul. He’s secure in his space and has a sense of humour.”</p>

<p>Ibrahim’s sister while speaking to me on her brother’s career plan had once said, “He does plan to be an actor. But as I’ve discovered, it’s an easy dream to have but a very difficult dream to achieve. But I feel Ibrahim has the talent. Once he enacted a monologue for my mother and me. I was holding the sheet of paper on which his lines were written. I &nbsp;couldn’t look at the sheet, I was busy looking at his eyes. They were so &nbsp;emotive.”</p>

<p>Chunky Pandey’s nephew Ahaan Pandey is also expected to be launched in &nbsp;2022 by family-friend Karan Johar. Chunky’s daughter Ananya has already been launched in 2019. Govinda’s son Yashvardhan Ahuja is also being groomed for stardom by producer Sajid Nadiadwala who launched Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan in 2021’s Tadap.</p>

<p>&nbsp;Both Govinda’s daughter Tina and &nbsp; Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya have unsuccessfully launched as actors some years ago. Sometimes one can gag on one’s golden spoon.</p>
