There have been reports of heavy snowdrifts and strong winds in the area.&nbsp;

At least five people were killed and one person was injured after a car plunged into a lake in the Indian state of Telangana on Saturday (Dec 7). They were travelling near Jalalpur village of Yadadri Bhongir district when the car went out of control and landed in the lake.

The victims were residents of the LC Nagar area in Hyderabad and were intoxicated during the accident. They reportedly left their homes at night and reached the village early morning to consume fresh toddy.

The victims have been identified as Vamsi (23), Dignesh (21), Harsha, Vinay, Manikanth, and Balu (19). All of them were residents of Hyderabad, police told India Today.&nbsp;

“The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families following legal formalities. Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing," the police said.

The incident took place in Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road in the Gondia district. The bus left from the city of Nagpur and was heading to Gondia.&nbsp;

Around 25 people were injured as the bus overturned. Following the incident, police vans, ambulances, and cranes were deployed to assist the injured people.&nbsp;

The injured people have been taken to the Gondia District Hospital for treatment.

"A State transport bus met with an accident in Gondia district. The bus was en route from the Bhandara depot to Gondia when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle near Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road and overturned on the side of the road," Indian news agency ANI reported, citing police officials.&nbsp;

Information about the situation was taken from the local administration. Instructions have been issued for immediate and proper treatment of the injured," a CMO statement read.&nbsp;

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered condolences to the families of the victims.&nbsp;

A force spokesperson said, "The families of those involved are being supported by specially trained officers."

Great North Air Ambulance, the north-west Ambulance Service, and Cumbria fire and Rescue Service were also present at the crash site. Moreover, volunteer doctors who are part of the group Beep Doctors were also there.&nbsp;
