Video of a burning yellow Lamborghini in Hyderabad goes viral as people gasp

A fancy sports car worth Rs 1 crore (approx. $1,19,735million) was set ablaze on the outskirts of Hyderabad city in India following an internal dispute between two parties. The video of a yellow-coloured Lamborghini Gallardo up in flames at a secluded spot in the city went viral on social media on Monday (April 15).

According to the police, the car was allegedly burnt by two car resellers over a dispute with its owner.

The incident took place on the evening of April 13, when the car was brought to Mamidipalli Road in Hyderabad. As soon as the video was shared on social media, people raised concerns over the safety of high-end vehicles in the city.

Fancy sports car set on fire in Hyderabad

Neeraj, the owner of the 2009 model of Lamborghini wanted to sell his car, for which he sought assistance from his friends to look for a buyer, as per the police.

One of his friends found a serious buyer of the car named Ahmed, who expressed his interest in taking the car. Upon their conversation regarding the same, Ahmed convinced Neeraj’s friend, Aman Haider, to bring the car to a farmhouse on April 13.

However, instead of heading towards the decided location, Aman, who was accompanied by another friend Hamdan, veered towards the Hyderabad airport route. It was here that they were confronted by Ahmed and his associates. The next thing Aman knew, the car was set ablaze.

Ahmed and a group of people burnt the car by using petrol on the outskirts of the city. He claimed that Neeraj owed them money and all the attempts made by Aman in the past to resolve the situation proved futile. So, he allegedly decided to take revenge on Neeraj by burning his luxury car.

By the time police arrived at the scene of the incident, the car was completely charred. The said friend, Ahmed, of the car owner was known to the main accused.

Based on a complaint by the person who took the car, a case has been registered at the Pahadi Shareef police station, under Section 435 IPC (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage). No arrests have been made so far. The police are investigating the nature of the financial dispute between Ahmed's group and car owner Neeraj, to establish the motive of the crime.
