Coronavirus fatality rate at 2.87% among lowest in the world: Health ministry

India's health ministry said that the country's fatality rate due to coronavirus is 2.87 per cent which is among the lowest in the world.
The ministry said that the recovery rate from COVID-19 continues to improve and presently stands at 41.61 per cent.
A total of 60,490 patients have recovered so far from coronavirus, the ministry informed.
The health ministry said there have been 4.4 deaths due to coronavirus per lakh population have been reported for the world, while India has reported about 0.3 deaths per lakh population which is amongst the lowest in the world.
"It's been due to lockdown, timely identification, and management of coronavirus cases," the ministry said.
Meanwhile, ICMR Director General Dr. Balram Bhargava said that testings have gone up in the last few months with 1.1 lakh samples being tested daily.
As the virus contiuned to spread, the Uttarakhand health department reported 51 more coronavirus cases taking the total number of cases to 400, of which 329 are active cases. Four people have died due to the virus in the state.
Rajasthan reported 176 new coronavirus cases and one death in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cases in the state to 7,476. The death toll in the state due to the virus has risen to 168.
