<p>According to ANI, the exercise will be a grand event that&nbsp;will witness the participation of&nbsp;major fleets of fighter aircraft including the Rafale, Mirage 2000 and the Su-30MKIs.</p>

<p>Heavy-lift transport aircraft and choppers including the Chinooks and Apache will also take part in the military drills.&nbsp;Garud Special Forces are also part of the drills where all elements of air power are likely to be exercised, ANI reported.</p>

<p>As per the report, the exercise will take place from September 4 to 14, overlapping with the G20 summit slated to be held from Sept. 9-10.</p>

<p>The training drills will be held in the northern sector including Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.</p>

<h2><strong>Tarang Shakti</strong></h2>

<p>The latest announcement comes as the IAF plans to carry out a multi-lateral exercise called Tarang Shakti in October-November.</p>

<p>This will also see the participation of fighter jets, military transport aircraft, mid-air refuellers and airborne warning and control system (AWACS) aircraft.</p>

<p>The Indian Air Force earlier took part in the INIOCHOS exercise hosted by the Hellenic Air Force at the Andravida air base in Greece.</p>

<p>In April, it conducted a joint military drill with the US under the Cope India 2023 banner. The drills were held across three bases in the country – Kalaikunda, Panagarh and Agra.</p>

<p>Researchers in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, sourced their leather fabric from a material called mycelium (My-SEE-lee-um). It’s an interwoven, thread-like structure, made by mushrooms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The material generally grows underground, beneath a mushroom and helps the fungus absorb nutrients from the dead things such as logs.<br />

The team of researchers worked on the idea to let the fungus retain its re-growing ability even when transformed into a fabric. They tried and the idea worked.</p>

<h2><strong>How did this happen?</strong></h2>

<p>Unlike other profit-driven companies, the researchers have not kept their methods a secret. They are even promoting the idea of copying its innovation to help other researchers and scientists make more advanced mushroom materials.</p>

<p>To develop the self-healing fabric, the scientists relied on a mushroom from Asia, called Ganoderma lucidum. It is believed to have several medicinal properties.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This is the most important step as the chemicals and the temperature preferred for making the leather were kept so mild and accurate that it allowed some of the mycelium to remain alive and operational.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per economists, robust domestic demand, government investments in capital, and an emerging recovery in private investment together played a key role in driving the GDP growth numbers.</p>

<p>According to the government data, eight key infrastructure sectors' growth rose to 8 per cent in July 2023 from 4.8 per cent in the same month last year.</p>

<h2><strong>Inflation — a concerning point</strong></h2>

<p>In July, inflation surged to 7.4 per cent, exceeding the RBI’s upper tolerance threshold of 6 per cent. This breach was the first in the current year. Economists suggest that there's a strong likelihood of a similar breach happening again in August.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A recent survey of 17 economists conducted by the Economic Times indicates that the median inflation projection for the fiscal year 2023-24 is 5.5 per cent, slightly higher than the RBI's estimate of 5.4 per cent.</p>

<h2><strong>Rural demand remains weak</strong></h2>

<p>A report published by CareEdge Ratings has revealed that India’s rural demand remains weak and vulnerable. The trend was induced by erratic Monsoon season, unexpected or heavy rainfall and food inflation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the report said that the upcoming festival season and celebrations could potentially drive up consumer demand.&nbsp;</p>

The survey engaged more than 30,000 adults worldwide, which also gave insights into how the world perceives India ahead of its inevitable rise as a great power.</p>

<h2><strong>PM Modi still wildly popular among Indians</strong></h2>

<p>Ahead of the general elections slated to be held in 2024, the majority of Indians still show support for PM Modi’s nine-year-old government.</p>

<p>While 79 per cent of Indians held a positive opinion of him, 55 per cent expressed a “very favourable” view.</p>

<p>On the flip side, a mere 20 per cent of Indians said they viewed Modi’s government negatively.</p>

<h2><strong>About India’s geopolitical status</strong></h2>

<p>According to the Pew Research Survey, 68 per cent of Indians believe India’s geopolitical status has risen over the past years. On the other hand, only 19 per cent of Indians think India has witnessed a decline in terms of global prestige.</p>

<p>The study also offers trends regarding how people from different countries view India, especially those from G20 nations.</p>

<p>While the majority of the people view India in a positive light, the survey indicates that India’s favourability has taken a hit in European nations.</p>

<p>When it comes to bilateral relations with India, Israel stood out remarkably. Among all the countries surveyed, a significant 71 per cent of Israeli respondents held a favourable opinion of India, marking the highest percentage.</p>

<p>Likewise, 41 per cent of Indian participants observed an increase in Russia's influence, while 21 per cent believed it had decreased. Of all the public surveyed, Indians are the ones who are most likely to believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin will do the right thing in regard to international affairs.</p>

<p>Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was again hit by massive freedom protests last week as hundreds of protesters took to the streets to voice their anger against the Pakistani administration. Not only that, they are also threatening the Pakistani government with an all-out civil war and calls to join India.</p>

In the latest instance, Germany is witnessing the dismantling of a large wind farm; only to expand a nearby open-pit lignite coal mine.</p>

<p>German energy giant RWE is undertaking the dismantling work in the western region of North Rhine Westphalia, where one wind turbine has already been dismantled. The company plans to weed out seven more to pave the way for an additional 15m to 20m tonnes of so-called 'brown' coal to be excavated.</p>

<p>The expansion of the coalfield is being done under a deal brokered last year between RWE and the German government. In return, RWE had promised to completely phase out coal in 2030, eight years before the previous deadline. "It's a good day for climate protection," Habeck said at the time.</p>

<h2><strong>Move invites sharp criticism</strong></h2>

<p>The move to demolish wind farms to make way for more coal excavation has triggered massive criticism by activists.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The current climate emergency requires urgent and concerted efforts to accelerate the deployment of every single wind turbine, solar panel and heat pump that we can muster," said Fabian Hübner, a senior campaigner at Beyond Fossil Fuels, a German-based coalition of climate activists.</p>

<p>"Anything that diverts from this critical endeavour, especially the dismantling of renewable energy sources to extract more fossil fuels, must be unequivocally prohibited," he added.</p>
