<p>But Sunak shot back with some sharp lines. He targetted Forign Secretary Li Truss for her promises of a borrowing binge to fund tax cuts and help ease a cost-of-living crisis.</p>

<p>"This something-for-nothing economics isn't conservatism, it's socialism," he said.</p>

<p>He also attacked her for her U-turns down the years from being a Liberal Democrat to becoming a Tory, and from campaigning for UK membership of the European Union in 2016 to enthusiastically backing Brexit today.</p>

<p>"I was just wondering which one you regretted most?" he queried.</p>

<p>Sunak posted a new capaign video an hour before the debate. The video, shot in black and white showed how he went against the party leadership early on to support Brexit -- drawing a pointed contrast to Truss.</p>

<p>And from here, started the tale of 'Cheddar', named after restaurant's famous Cheddar Bay Biscuits. The lobster arrived in a shipment to the restaurant. Just before it was going to be cooked, its bright orange colour caused intrigue amid the staff.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Red Lobster staff then reached out to Ripley's Aquarium at Myrtle Beach, Florida. This proved to be the right step as the aquarium sent two experts at the restaurant to check what the matter was. It was observed to be an extremely rare orange lobster, rarer even than even blue lobster.</p>

<p>As reported by CNN, the experts carefully packed up the lobster and brought it at Ripley's Marine Science Research Center. The lobster will acclimate at the research center before heading to the aquarium.</p>

<p>“Sometimes ordinary miracles happen, and Cheddar is one of them,” said Mario Roque, a manager at Red Lobster who led the rescue of Cheddar. He was quoted in a press release by Red Lobster restaurant.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“ A group of incredible people helped us make this possible. We are so honored to have been able to save Cheddar and find her a good home.”</p>

<p>'Shut up Sona', a documentary which depicts her art and as some would say, her 'flirting with controversies' is one-and-half-hours-long.</p>

<p>If you think 'Shut Up Sona' is an opportunity to 'check her out', you should probably stick to your late-night surfing of whichever websites you frequent with your VPN on. The documentary reveals a glimpse of Sona Mohapatra away from the limelight, letting us glean a bit into her thoughts.</p>

<p>In times when there is no telling talking about which religion would ruffle whose feathers, it's a delight to know that there are still few voices who believe in inclusive nature of our religions. 'Shut up Sona' brings us face-to-face with some such people as&nbsp;Mohapatra visits religious places. Some of the information that's revealed is bound to surprise us and question our conditioning due social forces over the years. Look out for discussion on Meerabai.</p>

<p>The documentary is peppered with her music of course, so you better watch it with good pair of earphones. Because it's quite soothing to hum the tunes with Sona. Better still, to guess the Raag if you are musically trained. Some of my favourites like Raag Sarang are very much there waiting to be heard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Mohapatra, in past, has not shied away from naming people and institutes. She is very much her own self in 'Shut up Sona'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sometimes it's quite endearing to see her want to go all-guns-blazing only to be tempered by music composer and her husband Ram Sampath, who more than once comes across as the voice of reason.</p>

<p>On a tiny bit of downside about 'making' of the documentary, a few build-ups would have looked less predictable had there been better editing and better thought about placement of these sequences. But this does not interfere too much with the overall experience.<br />

Is 'Shut up Sona' a woman's march that is trying to bring a revolution of sorts? The documentary doesn't appear to have such pretenses. It is, however, a much-needed revisit to and a statement against black-and-white 'deify or denigrate' tendency of India when it comes to women.</p>

<p>Authorities in Spain have reported around 20 wildfires still raging in different parts of the country. Several emergency personnel have lost lives fighting the flames.</p>

<p>In France's Gironde region, situation deteriorated even when firefighters were battlling the fire. More than 16,000 people in the country have been forces to decamp due to wildfires.&nbsp;</p>

<p>France's interior ministry announced it would send an extra three firefighting planes, 200 firefighters and more trucks.</p>

<p>Meteo France forecast temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in parts of southern France on Sunday. New heat records are expected on Monday.</p>

<p>"In some southwestern areas, it will be a heat apocalypse," meteorologist Francois Gourand told AFP.</p>

<p>France has placed 15 departments on red alert, mainly on the western seaboard.</p>

<p>The chapel of a historic hospital in the southeastern city of Lyon, Grand Hotel Dieu, offered refuge to tourists on Sunday including Jean-Marc, 51, who was visiting from Alsace</p>

Rescue agencies on alert due to wildfires in southwest Europe

<p>In what can be a major hurdle in the way of Chinese aim of 'Zero Covid', around 500 people were found to be infected with Covid at a tourist resort, Chinese media said. The tourist resort is located in China's Guangxi region. China's Global Times reported that the outbreak has left over 2000 tourists stranded in Beihai city in the province. The Covid flare-up has hit the holiday report. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Beihai is located in the in the south in Guangxi. It is a popular tourist resorts in the region. First asymptomatic infection in Beihai was reported on July 12. After that, total of nine confirmed infections and 444 asymptomatic infections had been registered till Saturday (July 16), as per report in Global Times.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the local health commission of Guangxi, a number of cities including Beihai, Nanning, Guilin, Hezhou and Chongzuo have been affected by the outbreak.</p>

<p>30 asymptomatic infections have been detected in other cities in the region.</p>

<p>This new wave has been triggered by Omicron sub-variants.</p>

<p>In Guangxi, Beihai city has been hardest hit by Omicron.</p>

<p>As per Chinese health authorities, variant BA.2.38. This strain has strong transmissibility and its hard to detect it early.</p>

<p>China recently enforced a lockdown in Xian, a city home to 13 million people. Cases caused by new Omicron sub-variant were reported. From Saturday to Monday 19 COVID-19 infections were detected.</p>

Covid wave hits resort in China, thousands stranded

<p>Our Sun packs quite a punch. Not only did it literally form all the planets in the Solar System but is a source of all energy on Earth. It is indeed true that life-sustaining mode of our star is always on. But there are times when Sun 'sneezes' (well, kind of) and it means some major disruption on Earth. A solar flare is on its way to Earth and it is expected to spell trouble for us.</p>

<p>USA's National &nbsp;National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has raised an alarm over this solar flare which erupted from the Sun on July 14.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"A solar flare is an intense burst of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots. Flares are our solar system’s largest explosive events. They are seen as bright areas on the sun and they can last from minutes to hours," says NASA.</p>

<p>This solar flare will not mean something as dramatic as end of humanity, but a sufficiently powerful solar flare can make our satellites defunct. This in turn may have major effect on many functions on Earth. We will be safe because Earth's magnetic field will shield us from harmful radiation. But disruption in communication on Earth is enough to disturb flow of modern life.</p>

USA's National National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has raised an alarm over this solar flare which erupted from the Sun on July 14. "A solar flare is an intense burst of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots. Flares are our solar system’s largest explosive events. They are seen as bright areas on the sun and they can last from minutes to hours," says NASA. This solar flare will not mean something as dramatic as end of humanity, but a sufficiently powerful solar flare can make our satellites defunct. This in turn may have major effect on many functions on Earth. We will be safe because Earth's magnetic field will shield us from harmful radiation. <p>Amazon said on Friday (July 15) that it aims to create more than 4000 new jobs this year in Britain. The company said that under this plan the company would enter the list of nation's 10 biggest private sector employers. Amazon released a statement and said that this expansion will take its permanent workforce to 75,000.</p>

<p>The US e-commerce giant benefitted from booming online shopping during COVID lockdowns.</p>

<p>New jobs it plans to create will be spread across Britain. Two new fulfillment centres are set to open in Knowsley and Wakefield. Both of the cities are in northern England.</p>

<p>Among the new jobs, there will also be roles in corporate and technology functions in software development, product management and engineering</p>

<p>"We're continuing to invest in talent right across the UK, from apprentices in Swansea to data scientists in Edinburgh," said Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey.</p>

<p>The announcement comes ahead of Amazon's second-quarter earnings, due later this month.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Amazonm has offered a settlement against charges raised by the European Union that the online giant undermined sellers on its platform to boost its own retail business.</p>

<p>The offer by Amazon is a huge step by the US-based behemoth that has denied for years accusations by rivals and regulators that it unfairly uses the troves of data parked on its platform to benefit its own products and services.</p>

Amazon aims to create 4000 new jobs in Britain this year

<p>Seven men in Hong Kong who tried to flee to Taiwan in a boat to escape protest related charges have been handed jail sentences. The jail sentences are between seven and 10 months long and hav been handed for acts to "pervert the course of justice."</p>

<p>Six of the men were jailed for 10 months, while Li Tsz-yin, 32, was jailed seven months. Li is currently serving a 3.5-year jail term for rioting and assaulting a policeman.</p>

<p>Defence lawyers had argued earlier that the men had already served time in a mainland jail. However, deputy district judge Newman Wong opined that the men had "given the public a sense of contempt for the judiciary and a deliberate challenge to the legal system".</p>

<p>All of them faced pro-democracy movement-linked charges. The protests had rocked Hong Kong in 2019. Many of the men who were sentenced on Friday face separate criminal proceedings even now. This may see them jailed for longer.</p>

<p>At the time when it happened, the boat incident has fuelled tension between the US and China. US State Department had said that it was deeply concerned about the case and that detainees were being denied access to lawyers of their chioce.</p>

<p>One of those sentenced, Andy Li, is now in a Hong Kong prison awaiting sentencing for a charge of collusion with foreign forces under a China-imposed national security law - a case linked to jailed media tycoon and China critic Jimmy Lai.</p>

<p>The government decided earlier this week that travel across parts of railway network Renfe will be free. Renfe is a rail network owned by the state. The scheme would come into effect on September 1 and will continue till the end of the year. The government has already announced 30 per cent reduction in tarnsport fares. This include metros, buses and trams.</p>

<p>Free railway journey scheme will be applicable for multi-trip ticket journeys on cercanías (commuter services) and media distancia (medium-distance routes, less than 300 km). Season ticket holders in Spain are expected to benefit mainly in this scheme but tourists who buy multi-journey train tickets can take advantage of the scheme as well.</p>

<p>“I’d like the people of Spain to know that I’m fully aware of the daily difficulties that most people have,” Spain’s prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, said on Tuesday. “I know salaries cover less and less and that it’s difficult to get to the end of the month.”</p>

<p>“This measure encourages using public transport to guarantee a safe, reliable, comfortable, economic and sustainable means of doing the daily commute amid the extraordinary increase of energy and fuel prices,” the Spanish Ministry of Transport said in a statement.</p>

Free train rides in Spain from September

<p>James Webb Space Telescope is humanity's latest eye in the sky. The most powerful telescope ever built by humankind has officially started working and has its sights set on farthest corners of the Universe never seen before. The first image from the telescope has wowed everyone across the globe. The subsequent images were mesmerising as well.</p>

<p>But another unique image has now been released by NASA. It is of the planet Jupiter. The enormous gas giant in our Solar System has been clicked by James Webb Space Telescope. But the image shows Jupiter a bit differently. Usual pictures of Jupiter show the planet in reddish hue. But in this picture, the gas giant appears white-hot.</p>

<p>That is because the image has been taken in Infrared frequencies.</p>

<p>The photo was taken before the space telescope became fully functional.</p>

<p>"These images are designed for engineering purposes, so they aren’t processed in the same way as our first images this week. Like some earlier calibration images, these are processed to emphasize certain features," said NASA in its tweet.</p>
