<p>"With this announcement, parents and caregivers now have an option to protect these very young children, a group at high risk of infection and where additional health prevention measures like wearing masks may not always be feasible," said Patricia Gauthier, president of Moderna's Canadian unit.</p>

<p>Moderna vaccine was approved in Canada for adult about a year and half ago. In US, inoculation campaign for children under five years of age began&nbsp;in June.</p>

<p>Also on Thursday, Ottawa reinstated mandatory random Covid-19 testing of air travellers arriving at the nation's four major airports -- in&nbsp;</p>

<p>Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver -- after pausing the program last month.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Usually, this process starts when the comet is around Jupiter. But Comet K2 gave signs of this activity when it was around Neptune. The comet developed a halo when it was in a region of Solar System where solar rays are too feeble to melt ice on the comet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Comets are like time capsules. They contain within them elements and materials that were formed at the time of formation of the Solar System. Study of comets is hence very important for scientists.</p>

<p>"It's kind of like being able to touch something from the beginning of the solar system," David Jewitt, an astronomer at University of California, Los Angeles, told Space.com. "It's probably the most primitive thing in the inner solar system at this time."</p>

<p>In order for these measures to become law, EU countries must now agree on this measures. Europeam diplomats said that the measures were uncontroversial and should pass through easily.</p>

<p>According to Russian customs data, Britain is the largest buyer of Russian gold with 290 tonnes in 2020 worth $16.9 billion.</p>

<p>But a senior EU official insisted that the EU's decision will not be merely symbolic as "it will cut off another tap of funding for Putin's war in Ukraine".</p>

EU plans to ban new gold import from Russia

<p>A 'heartbeat' like radio signal has been received by universities across US and Canada. This radio signal, coming from a distant galaxy is flashing with surprising regularity.</p>

<p>Such signals are called Fast Radio Bursts or FRB. Generally, FRB's last for several milliseconds. But this FRB has lasted 1000 times longer. The scientists have discovered that the bursts are taking place every 0.2 seconds. This is similar to a beating heart.</p>

<p>The FRB has been designated FRB 20191221A by scientists. It is the longest-lasting FRB till date.</p>

<p>The radio signals are coming from a galaxy billions of light years away. The source of the radio bursts is unknown but it is being said by the scientists that it is a radio pulsar or a magnetar that is emitting this signal</p>

<p>“There are not many things in the universe that emit strictly periodic signals,” says Daniele Michilli, a postdoc in MIT’s Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research. “Examples that we know of in our own galaxy are radio pulsars and magnetars, which rotate and produce a beamed emission similar to a lighthouse. And we think this new signal could be a magnetar or pulsar on steroids.”</p>

<p>The discovery has been reported in the journal Nature.</p>

'Heartbeat' in space: Mysterious radio signal from nothingness has been received

<p>A court in Indian capital New Delhi on Friday granted bail to Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair. He was arrested in a case related to his alleged objectionable tweet in 2018 on a Hindu deity. While granting bail the court observed that "the voice of dissent is necessary for a healthy democracy".</p>

<p>The court noted that till Friday (July 15), the police have failed to establish the identity of a said Twitter user who felt offended by the tweet of the accused and based on whose complaint the present case was filed</p>

<p>In spite of the bail however, Zubair will remain in jail as he has been remanded to judicial custody in some FIRs. These FIRs are registered against him by UP Police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.</p>

<p>Zubair will be sent to the concerned jail in Uttar Pradesh after his release, according to a Tihar jail official in Delhi. The journalist is currently lodged in Tihar jail since July 2.</p>

<p>While granting bail, Additional Sessions Judge Devender Kumar Jangala said Indian democracy and the political parties are open for their criticism and that merely criticism of any political parties is no ground to invoke section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups) and 295A (outraging religious feelings) of the Indian Penal Code(IPC).</p>

<p>"Undoubtedly free speech is the proper foundation of a democratic society."</p>

<p>Further, the court said that Hindu religion, one of the oldest in the world was most tolerant.</p>

<p>Six separate FIRs have been lodged against Zubair in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar and Hathras districts in UP.</p>

<p>The court has directed Zubair to furnish a bail bond of Rs 50,000 and one surety of like amount. He has been directed not to leave the country without prior permission from the court. The journalist was also ordered to ensure that his tweet or retweet, or any material on social media content is not even touching boundaries of the offence punishable under Section 153A and 295A of IPC.</p>

<p>The court said that there was no need for any custodial interrogation and the alleged act would come into the category of offence only when it is done with a guilty intention.</p>

<p>Urey was captured in southeast Ukraine in late April, said Presidium Network. He was trying to help a woman who had been given permission to travel to leave Russian-controlled territory.</p>

<p>Urey was stopped at a checkpoint before being detained and was later charged with "mercenary activities" by DPR separatists.</p>

<p>Presidium Network said Britain's Foreign Office had informed Urey's family of his death.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reuters quoted spokesperson of the British Foreign Office who said that office was "urgently seeking clarification from the Russian government on media reports that a British aid worker has died in Ukraine."</p>

<p>Asked about Urey, a spokesman for Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: "They're clearly alarming reports and our thoughts are with his family and friends."</p>

<p>Daria Morozova, who has the title of human rights ombudsman in the DPR, said on social media that Urey had been suffering from diabetes and respiratory, kidney and cardiovascular issues.</p>

<p>"On our part, despite the severity of the alleged crime, Paul Urey was provided with appropriate medical assistance. However, given the diagnoses and stress, he passed away on July 10," she said.</p>

<p>Urey and another Briton, Dylan Healy, were detained at a checkpoint controlled by separatist forces in late April.</p>

The government maintains that the list has been compiled in accordance with rules of the parliament but critics and especially the opposition parties are alleging that the list contains some words that are harmless enough to be used in a debate inside the house.</p>

<p>The list released by the secretariat says that some of the keywords may not appear unparliamentary unless read in conjunction with the other expressions spoken during the parliamentary proceedings.</p>

<p>The compilation contains references to words and expressions declared unparliamentary in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and state legislatures in India during 2021, besides those disallowed in some of the Commonwealth Parliaments in 2020.</p>

<p>Trinamool Congress leader Derek O'Brien said, "Session begins in a few days. GAG ORDER ISSUED ON MPs."</p>

<p>"Now, we will not be allowed to use these basic words while delivering a speech in #Parliament : Ashamed. Abused. Betrayed. Corrupt. Hypocrisy. Incompetent. I will use all these words. Suspend me. Fighting for democracy," the TMC leader said.</p>

Indian parliament releases new list of unparliamentary words, opposition unhappy

<p>Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi's broad coalition government faced the risk of collapse on Wednesday if the 5-Star Movement carried out its threat to pull out, raising the prospect of an early election.</p>

<p>Senior figures in 5-Star, led by former prime minister Giuseppe Conte, met on Wednesday to decide whether to remain in the coalition, having issued a series of policy demands ahead of a vote of confidence on Thursday.</p>

<p>After the 5-Star meeting broke up a senior party source told Reuters Conte wanted to speak with Draghi to seek a compromise.</p>

<p>Italy is due to hold a national election in the first half of 2023 and tensions are rising among members of the coalition that Draghi has led for the past 18 months.</p>

<p>Speaking at a news conference in Rome, Matteo Salvini, head of the right-wing League, said his party would not continue to back Draghi if 5-Star withdrew from the coalition. Early elections were the best solution, he said.</p>

<p>"If a coalition party doesn't back a government decree that's it, enough is enough, it seems clear that we should go to elections," he said.</p>

<p>The centre-left Democratic party (PD) is also unwilling to form a new government without 5-Star, its leader Enrico Letta said at a party meeting, adding that early elections were the most likely outcome if the current coalition implodes.</p>

<p>Looking to ease tensions, Draghi said on Tuesday that many of the policy priorities of 5-Star overlapped with those of the government, but warned against continuous demands from coalition partners.</p>

<p>"A government does not work with ultimatums, it loses the point of its existence," Draghi told a news conference, adding he will not be willing to carry on as prime minister if 5-Star pulls out.</p>

<p>The earliest Italy could vote would be in the autumn but it would be unusual to hold an election then as it would overlap with the drawing up and parliamentary approval of the budget law for the next year.</p>

<p>Sunak's bid for the top job got a major boost on Wednesday when he topped first round of voting within Conservative Party to be the next leader. Leader of the ruling Conservative Party will become the next PM.</p>

A BBC report has thrown light on the trend which was sparked by reality show 'Love Island.'</p>

<p>The report mentions the case of Lisa Martyn who flew to Turkey to get the teeth procedure done for all her teeth. She visited the country last year. She thought she wan getting veneers, which are thin shells place around teeth when they are minimally filed down. After few months, she realised that she had been given crowns. Fixing crowns on a tooth results in filing it down to the extent of 60-70 per cent.</p>

<p>"My teeth are gone. They're filed down so much," Lisa says as quoted by BBC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They never said your teeth can die, that you can get an abscess."</p>

<p>As per the report, Lisa has developed variety of problems like nerve sensitivity and extreme pain. She had to rely on painkillers and lost more than 12 kgs of weight as she could not chew food properly. The procedure she underwent in Turkey cost her 3500 euros. The remedial procedure in UK cost her more than 2000 euros. Long term treatment suggested for her is dentures or implants.</p>

<p>BBC has said that hundreds of doctors in UK have treated patients with complications arising from Turkey teeth.</p>

<p>A flaw in a widely used medical device that measures oxygen levels causes critically ill Asians, Blacks and Hispanics to receive less supplemental oxygen to help them breathe than white patients, according to data from a large study published on Monday.</p>

<p>Pulse oximeters clip onto a fingertip and pass red and infrared light through the skin to gauge oxygen levels in the blood. It has been known since the 1970s that skin pigmentation can throw off readings, but the discrepancies were not believed to affect patient care.</p>

<p>Among 3,069 patients treated in a Boston intensive care unit (ICU) between 2008 and 2019, people of color were given significantly less supplemental oxygen than would be considered optimal compared to white people because of inaccuracies in pulse oximeter readings related to their skin pigment, the study found.</p>

<p>"Nurses and doctors make the wrong decisions and end up giving less oxygen to people of color because they are fooled" by incorrect readings from pulse oximeters, said Dr. Leo Anthony Celi of Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who oversaw the study</p>

<p>For the study published in JAMA Internal Medicine, pulse oximetry readings were checked against direct measurement of blood oxygen levels, which is not practical in the average patient because it requires a painful invasive procedure.</p>

<p>The authors of a separate study involving patients with COVID-19 published recently in the same journal saw "occult hypoxemia" - an oxygen saturation level below 88% despite pulse oximeter readings of 92% to 96% - in 3.7% of blood samples from Asian patients, 3.7% of samples from Black patients, 2.8% of samples from non-Black Hispanic patients versus just 1.7% of samples from white patients. Whites accounted for only 17.2% of all patients with occult hypoxemia.</p>

<p>The authors concluded that racial and ethnic biases in pulse oximetry accuracy have resulted in delayed or withheld treatments among Black and Hispanic patients with COVID-19.</p>

<p>Pulse oximetry can also be affected by obesity, medications used in critically ill patients, and other factors, Celi said.</p>

<p>Imarc Group market research firm forecast the global pulse oximeter market reaching $3.25 billion by 2027, following 2021 sales of $2.14 billion.</p>

<p>"We think it's very reasonable at this point to call upon purchasers and manufacturers to make changes (to the devices), Dr. Eric Ward, coauthor of an editorial published with the study, told Reuters.</p>

<p>Medtronic Plc (MDT.N) executive Frank Chan said in an emailed statement that the company confirms accuracy of its pulse oximeters "by taking synchronized blood samples at each level of blood oxygen content and comparing the pulse ox readings with measurements made from the blood sample."</p>

<p>He added that Medtronic tests its devices on a higher than required number of participants with dark skin pigmentation, "to ensure our technology will perform as intended for all patient populations."</p>

<p>Pulse oximeter maker Phillips Healthcare did not respond to a request for comment.</p>
