<p>Eating almonds daily has been found to support metabolic recovery following strenuous exercise by increasing beneficial fat by 69 per cent, according to a new study. The researchers concluded that daily consumption of almonds leads to a change in metabolism, downregulating inflammation and oxidative stress from exercise and enabling the body to recover faster.</p>

<p>"We conclude that almonds provide a unique and complex nutrient and polyphenol mixture that may support metabolic recovery from stressful levels of exercise," corresponding author Dr David C Nieman, a professor at the North Carolina Research Campus, said. The findings have been published in Frontiers in Nutrition.</p>

<p>"Almonds have high amounts of protein, healthy types of fats, vitamin E, minerals, and fibre. And the brown skin of almonds contains polyphenols that end up in the large intestine and help control inflammation and oxidative stress," said Nieman.</p>

<p>According to the study, a randomized controlled trial showed that female and male participants who ate 57g of almonds daily for one month had more of the beneficial fat 12,13-DiHOME (12,13-dihydroxy-9Z-octadecenoic acid) in their blood immediately after a session of intense exercise than control participants.</p>

<p>This molecule, a so-called oxylipin, an oxidized fat, is synthesized from linoleic acid by brown fat tissue, and has a beneficial effect on metabolic health and energy regulation, the study said.</p>

<p>"Here we show that volunteers who consumed 57g of almonds daily for one month before a single 'weekend warrior' exercise bout had more beneficial 12,13-DiHOME in their blood immediately after exercising than control volunteers.</p>

<p>"They also reported feeling less fatigue and tension, better leg-back strength, and decreased muscle damage after exercise than control volunteers," said Nieman.</p>

<p>Immediately after exercise, the concentration of the beneficial 12,13-DiHOME was 69 per cent higher in the blood plasma of participants in the almond group than in participants in the control group.</p>

<p>12,13-DiHOME is known to increase the transport of fatty acid and its uptake by skeletal muscle, with the overall effect of stimulating metabolic recovery after exercise.</p>

<p>The reverse pattern was found for another oxylipin, the mildly toxic 9,10-Dihydroxy-12-octadecenoic acid (9,10-diHOME), which was 40 per cent higher immediately after exercise in the blood of the control group than in the almond group.</p>

<p>Unlike 12,13-DiHOME, 9,10-diHOME has been shown to have negative effects on overall health and the body's recovery to exercise.</p>

<p>According to the research, the clinical trial involved 38 men and 26 women between the ages of 30 and 65, who didn't engage in regular weight training. Approximately half were randomized to the almond diet group, and the other half to the control group, who daily ate a calorie-matched cereal bar.</p>

<p>The researchers took blood and urine samples before and after the four-week period of dietary supplementation. Performance measures included a 30-second Wingate anaerobic test, a 50-metre shuttle run test, and vertical jump, bench press, and leg-back strength exercises, the study said.</p>

<p>Additional blood and urine samples were taken immediately after this 90-minute session of "eccentric exercise" and daily for four days afterwards, the study said.</p>

<p>After each blood draw, the participants filled out the 'Profile of Mood States' (POMS) questionnaire to quantify their mental state, and rated their delayed onset muscle soreness - that is, pain and stiffness felt after unaccustomed or strenuous exercise - on a 10-interval scale, the study said.</p>

<p>As expected, the 90-minute exercise led to an increase in the volunteers' self-reported feeling of muscle damage and muscle soreness, as well as an increased POMS score, indicating self-reported decreased vigour and increased fatigue, anxiety, and depression, the study said.</p>

<p>The exercise also resulted in transiently elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, and MCP-1 in the blood, consistent with minor muscle damage. However, these changes in cytokines were equal in the almond and cereal bar groups, the study said. <p>On Sunday, B-town couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who last shared screen space in Amitabh Bachchan-starrer 'Brahmastra', were spotted cheering together for their football team Mumbai City FC at the Indian Super League. In no time, photos and videos of the two went viral on social media and netizens gushed over their adorable bond.</p>

<p>Prince Harry feels remaining silent "only allows the abuser to abuse". Perhaps, that's why he is leaving no stone unturned to "own" his story through his memoir and docu-series after 38 years of "spin and distortion" by other members of the British royal family. Ahead of the release of his memoir 'Spare', which is scheduled for Tuesday, Harry candidly spoke to a publication and, once again, took an aim at his family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To promote his book which has generated incendiary headlines with its details of bitter family resentments, Harry spoke to ITV's Tom Bradby and made some shocking revelations.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He accused royals of getting "into bed with the devil" to gain favourable tabloid coverage and claimed that his stepmother Camilla, the queen consort, leaked private conversations to the press as part of her image cleansing campaign, which got tarnished when Princess Diana referred to her as "the third person in her relationship with now-King Charles".</p>

<p>"After many, many years of lies being told about me and my family, there comes a point where, going back to the relationship between, certain members of the family and the tabloid press, those certain members have decided to get in bed with the devil," Harry told Bradby.</p>

<p>Harry also revealed why he is opening up about everything now. He shared that his family has shown "absolutely no willingness to reconcile".</p>

<p>When asked if his comments could be seen as an act of burning bridges between him and his family, Harry replied, "Well! They've shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile. And I'm not sure how honesty is burning bridges. You know, silence only allows the abuser to abuse."</p>

<p>The Duke of Sussex also told ITV that he cried only once after his mother Princess Diana’s death and that he&nbsp;feels guilty for not showing his emotions when he and Prince William greeted crowds of mourners outside Kensington Palace. In the book, Harry blames his family’s stiff-upper-lip ethos, saying he had "learned too well.. the family maxim that crying is not an option".</p>

<p>Harry also launched&nbsp;an attack on Britain's Queen Consort Camilla and&nbsp;branded her "dangerous" and a "villain", according to the latest reports.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When&nbsp;questioned about the many damaging allegations he is making about his stepmother in his memoir, Harry said that&nbsp;his mother&nbsp;Princess Diana's&nbsp;1995 interview, in which she called Camilla the "third person in her marriage",&nbsp;turned the now-Queen Consort into a "villain" and that "she felt the need to rehabilitate her image".&nbsp;</p>

<p>He further accused his stepmother of leaking private conversations and "trading information" with the media&nbsp;in an attempt to ignite positive stories about herself. She once&nbsp;sensationally suggested that her "connections" with the press would end up with "people or bodies left in the street".</p>

<p>Harry thinks that Camilla's desire to "be on the front page,&nbsp;have positive stories written about her" comes from the British royal family's belief that positive media coverage "improves your reputation or increases the chances of you being accepted as monarch by the public".</p>

He said, “The best thing for me is the shot where Bheem jumps out with the animals. Back in 2019, they parted ways after dating each other for two years and welcoming a baby. During the pandemic in 2020, they rekindled their romance. In 2021, they welcomed their second child together. And now, according to reports, they have, once again, called it quits due to undisclosed reasons.</p>

<p>"Kylie and Travis are off again, they were supposed to spend the holidays together, but she went to Aspen to be with her family and friends up there," the insider told US Weekly. "This has happened so many times before, they’re known to be on again off again, but always remain friends and great co-parents."</p>
